Negative experience: Went to this gym for 4-5 years on and off, never ever spoke to any member of staff properly in these 4-5 years, as all looked miserable and probably scared to speak to a person with colour. recently Joined Nrg just up the road, way better price as this dump Is £20 a month and Nrg is £25? and way better equipment and much better staff as actually had more conversations here in the month then I had with any of The gym staff in those 4-5 years. with many staff members of the gym. Gym lacks social skills. No sorry staff does……

Fantastic experience: Injoy going to this gym but due to increases in my membership every year lm considering cancelling my membership some members do not get a increase in their membership which I find unfair l have been a loyal member for long time now but it goes up every year

Fantastic experience: Thoroughly enjoy the facilities at The Gym Newcastle East, spacious, great value, clean. Never a wait or short if is for eqpt. Open late, 11pm, so plenty of time for a workout. Variety of classes to suit all, recommend AMRAP led by the super efficient Alice (always on form with motivational instruction throughout, really helps) Body Conditioning and Legs, Bums & Tums. Thanks to the fab team !

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym. I've been coming here approx 10 years and I've tried other gyms but always come back to this one. Staff are friendly and always there to help. Gym is always tidy and clean, weights where they should be! And the equipment is good. If something gets broken it's generally fixed quickly. Changing rooms are also clean and tidy. Would recommend.
Negative experience: Always busy, even at 2pm on a weekday. Always waiting to use machines like the smith machine.

The price, atmosphere, range and quality of equipment, and quality of staff, make this the best gym in the area. ‐-------------------------------------------- Original: Big commercial gym with the usual offering. It's pretty decent for a chain of this size, and doesn't get too busy in the early mornings. It doesn't compare to the slightly pricier local gyms, but it's cheap and convenient and you can get a decent workout in.

Negative experience: Was interested in joining the gym so tried to ring a few times no answer no matter what time of the day it was automated vps no one available to speak to on the options. Then went to the gym as I wanted to have a look around first, but wasn’t able to get in people were going in and out asked someone if he can let me in he said you need a pin told me to press on the call button carried on pressing the call button stood for ages no one came so left like how on earth do people even join!

Coupled with the brilliant price, good facilitates and warm and friendly staff, in terms of value for money I don’t think there is a better gym in the north east !

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff and environmental atmosphere. Good facilities, showers, toilets, venting machines, water fountains and always kept clean. Good selection of machines; however the only negative point is the machines have never changed in the years I've been going, very well worn down, cracks in upholstery, loads of out of order equipment sometimes for a while (eg the chest supported row was out of order for over a month). When one gets fixed another goes off. From a business point of view it must be considerably expensive to keep repairing the same machinery instead of replacing 10 year old machines. Still plenty of free weights to uses instead of a machine is off. Update: The gym has had a massive refresh, lots of new equipment. It shows they also listen to their members. 10/10

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of a several gyms across the years… leisure centers to more expensive places. The Gym Newcastle East has all the equipment I need, with an atmosphere the others lack. The entire team is welcoming and supportive while being completely professional. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Excellent value gym with plenty of high quality weight machines, free weights, and cardio equipment. Can be pretty busy around peak times but what gym isn't? The app does provide live updates of the gym capacity though so you can always pick a quieter time to go.

Positive experience: TL;DR - under-equipped and busy at peak times, but just about okay as a budget gym. Puregyms are better at a similar price. Pros: - Staff are friendly - Clean gym - At this price point, there isn't another gym in the immediate area that competes Cons: - Under-equipped. Dumbbells only go up to 38kg which is a massive letdown (many gyms, including comparably priced budget gyms, go up to at least 50kg). Don't expect equipment beyond the basic (such as weight sleds or suspension training stations, which again you can find at comparable budget gyms) - Some pieces of equipment are a little tired and could do with replacing - Busy at peak times; expect to wait around for equipment - Again, at this price point, there isn't another gym in the immediate area that competes... if there was a Puregym closer by, I'd jump ship

Positive experience: Decent sized gym with multiple benches and busy machines which mean even during peak hours waiting is kept to a minimal. Good selection of machines as For both weights and cardio. Only downside is compared to some other gyms the facilities are somewhat limited. Although for the price this isn’t the biggest issue and can quite easily be overlooked. Free 3 hour parking on site as well which is really useful.

Negative experience: You pay for what you get with this one. As someone on the spectrum I found the staff to be particularly difficult, lacking personality and generally needing some customer service training.. all of this obviously results in a not so pleasant atmosphere to try and workout in. I wanted to make a formal complaint by speaking with a manager over email/phone but as that’s not an option I expect to get a template response to my review.

Negative experience: Whenever I visited this gym in the last three months, I got ill just after that. I became a member around November 2021 time and just after my first visit, I spent a week in bed. I left a gap until new year and started going again, now I got tested Covid-19 positive. I have been nowhere(indoor) but this gym as I work from home. All they do is asking users to wipe their equipments after using which is kind of pointless as everyone keeps touching the spray bottles anyway. Also, I used to be member of this gym 7-8 years ago, and most of the equipments are still same. They are old and in mess. Just cancelled the membership and never going back there again.

Positive experience: Really clean during course of covid but I still see filthy sods not washing hands during covid. Also gym near empty and contactless entry wouldn't work. Other than that its a bang on gym.

Positive experience: After returning to the gym from a 18 month break, I expected it to be in a better state than it is. The machines need a deep clean (the fan grills, underneath the machines etc) and there's a general smell that never used to exist! I've been going to this gym for about 8 years now and the equipment is starting to look dated unfortunately. On the plus side, it's still quite cheap.

Negative experience: Not the gym you wanna go to for someone who wants to weight lift cause you’ll be waiting around unless you go in non peak times. This gym was meant to be 24 hrs but never happed for some reason would be ok if 24 hrs .

Fantastic experience: Just returned this week for the first time since Feb 2020 and was a little anxious but..... They've absolutely nailed it. Feels safe and secure, well organised, loads of sanitising stations. Good job and well done to the organisation and all of the staff.

Fantastic experience: One of the beat run gyms ive ever been too.. staff don't bother you unless you ask for help, everything is clean and organised, very covid friendly, all gym goers are respectful, good atmosphere all equipment you need there..... fantastic gym i cannot fault it.........
