Fantastic experience: I've been a member at the Village Gym for over a year now. The gym is fantastic. It's clean, has lots of equipment and in great condition. Staff are brilliant, always happy to help and I have had PT sessions on a regular basis here. PT's are so helpful, always fit your program to your needs and abilities and it's the first time I've ever felt comfortable in a gym! The pool is a great space too and I regularly swim here. Again, clean, spacious and inviting! Love The Village Gym! Recommend

Negative experience: I have multigym access on my membership. I've been in at least 10 of them across England, Scotland and Wales and this is the worst of them. Open 5am but you cannot use changing rooms until 6.30am, lockers by the gym doesn't work and there is no one to help you at the reception until 6am. Just ridiculous

Positive experience: I re-joined in January this year after the cold weather during the winter. I have been quite consistent so far. The size is enough for me to get a good workout and the working out space is always quite tidy, weights are always put back. It's nice to see as a client, renovations around the gym. I gave it four stars as I do think the showers in the changing room could be updated and look more appealing. Thanks a lot to Richard (at reception) who is always warm and welcoming - it's always nice to see and speak to friendly staff!

Positive experience: I was a hotel guest and the gym was the best bit! Lots of equipment to use, facilities were clean, and never too busy that I couldn't find something to go on. The pool was really nice length and the sauna and steam room was good! The Jacuzzi is a bit on the small side that you are knocking knees if there were four people in there.

Fantastic experience: Started going here again to help my recovery from operation & the gym looks even better with all its new equipment than when i used to go a couple of years ago the treadmills are state of the art & have got fantastic features that its a shame i cannot use everything on offer there's plenty of these plus loads of rowing machines they've got everything a fitness fanatic wants. There's plenty of water stations plus TV's all along 1 wall with different channels playing or just plug in your headphones & watch TV on your treadmill. There's normally a member of staff on hand or book one of the many fitness instructors that they have working there to have an introduction to all the equipment & what it is your wanting to get out of using the gym. There's also a very large indoor pool thats only 1.2 meters deep the full length with a spa that you can sit in plus a sauna & a steam room. The changing facilities have also all been updated so use a wrist band that only opens your particular locker. There's loads of showers to use in each of the male & female changing rooms plus they also have family changing rooms. There's also large sun loungers to sit or lay in the sun as there in an area under a glass roof. This is a fantastic place to give you hours of enjoyment & well as get fit. They are now getting ready for Xmas in the hotel & Grill Bar. They have now revamped the sauna so looks brilliant inside & renewed the steam room cannot fault this place.

Fantastic experience: We had a gym tour tonight, the staff were Really helpful, Very informative and took time to show us everything and explained everything in detail! We have our induction tomorrow and cant wait to get started!

Fantastic experience: I love this gym. I love to swim and I primarily use that. But I've had a couple sessions with a personal trainer Jack and he was amazing. I admired his willingness to adapt to my type of excerise. The people at this gym want you happy. So it's worth giving them a chance to do so with you

Positive experience: Been a few times on guest passes it's not a bad place really. few machines was out of action which isn't to bad if they have more then one of them but when it's machines they only have one of its a bit frustrating. The really annoying thing is leaving your name and number to be hounded night after night for about 2 weeks weather you tell them your interested or not !

Fantastic experience: As always the Zumba class is led brilliantly by Richard and is a full on experience . I really enjoyed its fast pace and upbeat soundtrack.

Staff is amazing, always so helpful. Especially Shona. She gave us a lot of information about services available. We are always glad to see her smiling face when we come to the pool. And membership prices are very good for the service they do. Can't find anything to complain about

Fantastic experience: I love the pool- consistent depth means I can do recovery exercise ( from hip procedure). Equipment is good, and it has a low level of noise throughout which makes it good for me. I am retired and have off peak membership which suits me well. No criticisms.

Fantastic experience: I have yesterday (16/01/23) rejoined the Village Gym Hull after a few years away to swim 2 or 3 times a week on health advice. I must say the welcome I received from all the staff was 10/10 and Debbie who dealt with my enquiry and signed me back up was fantastic. Not only did she answer all my questions but she also showed me around the pool area and changing room, they haven't changed a great deal but it was nice that she had time for me to chat and be so friendly. Thank you.

Phil was incredibly friendly, easy to talk to and was an all round great guy. I definitely felt more inclined to sign up to a membership after speaking with Phil!! 5/5 service.

Positive experience: Nice gym and no riff raff. Staff at reception always look miserable and never say hello or bye just stare at you like lost sheep. The jacuzzi/steam is hit and miss wether it’s working or not. Ideal location for me but could be a lot better. They also put their prices up 3 times since I joined and I have never had a letter/email/txt to say this would be happening they just do it.

Positive experience: I've been a member for 8 plus years and love the classes and the people BUT I've reported the fan in the spinning class room so many times I've forgotten until I go to class and realise it's still not circulating the room!? it works but doesn't move? I can not understand why this just hasn't been replaced? it gets looked at by engineering, and they say it's been fixed? please, please replace it because it's clearly broken! king regards.

Negative experience: I had been a member of the gym since 2014 and when the pandemic hit, like many others, I froze my membership. Not feeling too comfortable when the gyms finally reopened and with a precarious job situation I opted to cancel my membership. After 2 or 3 months I felt ready to start training again, unfortunately the price had jumped up significantly in those few months and no one is able to explain why. Now I'm fat and angry all the time....thanks Village!

Negative experience: Steam room never working, buckets in gym to cover leaking roof sometimes, staff only acknowledge you when their boss is around, other than that it's fine

Positive experience: The process of a day pass could of been better explained at gym entrance.

Fantastic experience: I use the gym facilities which are great but i really enjoy the atmosphere in the bar which serves some fine beverages. I regularly eat there too and whilst the food isnt the cheapest it is of a high quality and with the recent addition of healthy shakes and super food salads i know i can eat, work out and play with a fairly clean conscience.

Fantastic experience: It's impossible to get bored with this gym. So many varied classes to choose from. Instructors are great really nice, fun and welcoming. Spa area with pool steam room sauna & jacuzzi. Salon is great for beauty treatments. Restaurant and pub have good food and both reasonably priced. Plus there Starbucks cafe. What more do you need!

Positive experience: Maintenance is always a big issue. Howether has a good range of facilities.

Negative experience: Poor gym overall. No air conditioning and really old and poor machines. Weights area is a laugh reflecting an 80's gym. If your into weights forget it - one poor Smith and insufficient weights. Give it a miss.

Negative experience: Facilities are pretty good , it seems clean and staff are helpful. Massively let down by it's I.T. , web page is slow and unresponsive, the customer log in to book classes is totally unreliable and frustrating . Investment is required to update to a service that works and delivers what users are paying for.

Positive experience: Plenty of facilities although looking tired in places. Jacuzzi still out of use and weights machines frayed and need replacing.

Negative experience: More of a crossfit gym but has great facilities such as; gym, sauna, pool, Starbucks, bar and restaurant. *edit 1 star - the gym has not had air conditioning for a year now which they refuse to fix. Gym is over 30 degrees and unusable!

Fantastic experience: Great for gym & swim pool with good steam & sauna room. I regularly attend the gym, even at peaks time I can get on a cross trainer or treadmill. Good selection of gym classes too. Competitive gym membership. Clean changing rooms, staff and members are always friendly and make you feel welcome.
