Fantastic experience: We were visiting from another club. Great atmosphere at Colchester and helpful staff, thanks for making us feel welcome.

Fantastic experience: Had a tour of the facilities last night with Nathan who stayed behind to show us around. He was great and even kept my friend happy with a coffee which was a triumph. Great gym, spa and outdoor pool. Nathan was friendly and informative and made it easy to decide to join.

Fantastic experience: Just visited and joined up an amazing place great facilities and staff friendly Nathan was superb helpful friendly and wasn’t pushy on membership which was my worry he was great explained everything and the tour and facilities it was a no brainer ! Thanks Nathan!

Fantastic tour and Finn just very quickly understood why we wanted to David Lloyd and targeted the tour for us appropriately. Negative experience: Repeated issues with payments being wrongly taken or refunds not given when necessary, and only being returned after chasing and escalating multiple times (adding up to ~£300 across 4 payments). Keep an eye on your transactions if you’re a member and be ready to charge-back when needed.

Positive experience: Stef always has a smile and conversation, the management team are always welcoming as well.

Negative experience: Horrible experience, once you are a member you can’t get hold of anyone for your inquiries, 2 months to get an email back .

Fantastic experience: Rio was really good at his sale, smooth, friendly and welcoming. Look to using the facility and seeing him around.

Fantastic experience: Showed interest online and got invited down for a tour and a meeting to discuss all of our options. Callum was amazing and really made sure the gym was suited for us and went through everything in detail. Would highly recommend!

Negative experience: 1.Makes you feel alienated with management not intersted at all how to socialize people. 2.Managment and reception staff are cold as of they are not paid or fed enough by the club despite charging a heavy fees from the members. 3.People of colour especially their kids whether in swimming club or in general are made to realise as if they don't exist.I would not recommend the club to people of color to waste away their money on a club where subtle racism exists.

Negative experience: I was a member for 6 months, and had a lovely time with facilities, classes and the staff. However, I have to share my displeasure with the way my cancelation of my membership have been handled by the team. I had to go back abroad for family emergency and gave the appropriate documents for a cancelation and was therefore accepted that my membership would cease. Despite confirmation that my membership was cancelled, I received incessant withdrawal from my bank I raised this issue and was promised that the matter was fixed. However, to my displeasure I have been factured nevertheless when the staff promised that the issue would be sorted promptly. Unfortunately this matter made my experience with David Lloyd less enjoyable and would proceed with caution if you are considering to become a member.

Fantastic experience: As a member of DL but another club, often find myself with work travelling about... Not been to Colchester before, so called ahead to check outdoor pool was open. On arrival I was met by Sam at reception who was a star, had an issue using my card to get in, but she sorted that in no time at all and then went the extra mile in telling me where things were and how to get to the pool (internal signage at all DL clubs is poor for new guests/members)... wonderful 25m outdoor pool, super clean and clear. Then met Daniel on my way from pool and had a great chat about plans for the club. Great club with easy access and super team as hosts. Thanks. Richard

Fantastic experience: Very relaxing place. I could even get some work done while my 7 month old baby was in the crèche where she loved playing with all the toys.

Fantastic experience: I visited today for look around and was greeted by Callum, who was a fountain of knowledge. I was surprised and pleased with everything the club has to offer and signed up right away.

Negative experience: Nothing to do with the gym facilities or the staff but this place seems to be a crime hotspot. Organised gangs are working in the premises and management seem unable to stop it. Your car isn't safe in the car park nor are your possessions in the changing room lockers. Today I was targeted. My locker was broken into and my watch stolen. From what I was told it's regular and its done with spotters in the canteen who follow you up stairs while another goes into the changing room. They communicate on mobile phones. If its not that then its an inside job? DL management need to step up their game and provide it members with a solution, to what i hear, is a rife problem in the club. From what I saw today victims get an embarrassing look from staff and you're walked out the door.

Fantastic experience: Omg I actually love this place so much the food is amazing and the inside pool is always warm and clean it’s probably one of my favourite places to go to because I know I can always have fun there

Negative experience: I used a guest pass and thank god I did as I would not be paying for a membership at that price! -No phone reception throughout -Steam room smelt like sewage -3 toilets in female changing room is not sufficient - people were queuing for the toilet -Unable to lock shower door No changing cubicles - some people do not want to get changed in front of others -Outside pool is small and no deep end!

Fantastic experience: My grandson attends weekly swimming lessons at this facility. His swim instructor, Jenny, has been instrumental in his remarkable progress, surpassing all expectations. Her exceptional teaching methods and compassionate demeanor have instilled a sense of safety and confidence in the water.

Fantastic experience: My child attends swimming lessons once a week and what a wonderful experience it has been, Jenny the swim coordinator is very organised and approachable. My daughter loves attending her lessons each week and progress has improved so much since we joined.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love our club , the staff are so friendly and always welcoming, the club is run by the manager Sarah who is so available and always friendly , she regularly makes an appearance and always talks to the members . The cafe staff are amazing , so hard working , nothing is too much,, the cleaning staff have the place clean and tidy and again extremely friendly especially in the ladies . I have the most wonderful PT Zoe , who champions me every week, and I’m amazed how much I’ve accomplished with her . Also the ladies in the Crèche have been brilliant, they are all engaging with our grandchildren and our grandchildren absolutely love going . The team on front desk are so welcoming and always accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. We feel part of a community here and we appreciate everyone. It’s literally part of our lives . Fantastic experience: We recently joined David Lloyd Colchester and have had a fantastic experience. From the moment we had Dan guide us on the tour, we were impressed. Dan was friendly and extraordinarily knowledgeable about the club and its facilities. We appreciated that Dan didn't pressure us to join but allowed us to make an informed decision based on the information he provided about the club. Moreover, the facilities, staff, trainers, and food from the cafe are exceptional. But what really stood out was the opportunity to unite as a family to pursue a healthier lifestyle. Thank you, David Lloyd Colchester, for providing an excellent environment for us to do just that.

Fantastic experience: The outdoor pool and spa is excellent in the sunshine. Lounging by the pool on a hot a day, ice cream in hand you could be on holiday. Quite a busy gym, but understandably so the facilities are excellent.

Negative experience: The gym was absolutely packed, hardly any equipment free to use. The spa was jammed. The tennis courts, pool & cafe was packed with kids and very noisy. Felt more like a kids play park than a Health club which for £140 per a person is not what we want. The man who showed us round was helpful & kind and explained the target audience is actually families which wasn't clear from the website beforehand.

Negative experience: Poor equipment, long overdue replacing. Treadmills where the belts are worn and slip. Mobbed with kids and a lack of space. Not worth the price. Go to Ipswich DL.

Fantastic experience: The car park is horrendous, lack of parents bay and always an issue trying to get my kids in the car - they need sort this out. But they do let us use the other reserved spaces when we need it :)
