Andersonstown Leisure Centre

Negative experience: As other reviewers have said, this pool has been getting colder and colder over the past year. When I first took my toddler 18 months ago, the baby splash pool was lovely and toasty - it was easy to warm up there after running about by the slides. It's now so cold that my two children refuse to use the splash pool or the training pool. My baby cried for the entire ten minutes we were in the training pool last Saturday, and it was evident it was because he was so cold. I note that the leisure centre has replied to other pool users who have complained about the temperature by saying that the "pools are maintained above the required temperature parameters for public use". This is essentially saying...our pools comply with minimum legal requirements? That's a complete non-answer and also, a fairly bland and obvious point. I don't think anyone is suggesting the pools are illegally cold. The leisure centre does not answer the question as to whether the temperature in the kiddie pools have been turned down over the past 18 months. Please can the leisure centre confirm whether they have been turned down? As it stands, the pools (whilst I am sure meeting all legal requirements) do not feel nearly as warm as they used to, and are too cold for my kids to enjoy. I'm pretty sad that we won't be back again because the facilities are so great, but there's no point spending money on a swimming experience that my children find actively unpleasant.

Negative experience: The pool has been getting progressively colder for the past year or so. Presumably they’ve turned the heat right down to save money. It’s now gotten to the point where it’s far too cold to be enjoyable. There’s no value in having a toddler pool and a teaching pool if both are too cold for wee kids. You can visibly see parents walking around shivering and clutching their shoulders, obviously freezing. The pool itself seems to be much less busy than it was a year or so ago - so I assume I’m not the only parent voting with their feet. A real shame, because it had been class.

Fantastic experience: friendly staff. clean. everything works, gym equipment etc.

Negative experience: Go most weeks either myself or with my 5 year old. Most the staff are kids who Havnt got a clue and the showers and changing areas are a disgrace to put it nicely . Place is filthy in general , hard to find a shower or cubicle with a working lock . Some of the reception staff are just plain rude and unhelpful.

Fantastic experience: Extremely good so fun yellow slide is a bit scary.

Fantastic experience: Andersonstown leisure centre is safe enough for you to go there alone and the staff is nice and kind and the queues are very very very short and the price is very very very low and andersonstown leisure centre is great for kids and adults alike and the building is in great condition and andersonstown leisure centre is kid friendly and there is lifeguards around the pools and there is a few showers at the entrance of the swimming area and near the three big water slides and there is toilets near the changing rooms and changing rooms and the toilets get cleaned every time someone had finished with changing rooms or the toilets and walk out of the changing rooms or toilets And andersonstown leisure centre even has its own gym and andersonstown leisure centre even has its own cafe that you can go afterwards and have some yummy food and drinks and the cafe does hot food and drink And the three big slides are good fun and fast enough to a good thrill If you the timing right the queues are not to long And you can even look at the amazing view of Cavehill While you are waiting for your Turn to go down the one of the three big water slides And the purple torrent slide is super fun and safe and the yellow vortex water slide fun and a transparent and the green vertical drop water slide is the safest of the three because the water slide come with buoy that is shape like the infinity symbol And the aquaplay area is fun and safe for you and your children and the aquaplay area has four water slides and andersonstown leisure centre is so good that we would do a six star review if it was possible and there is bus stops near andersonstown leisure centre and parking is always easy to find

Fantastic experience: Great for kids and adults alike. The slides are great fun. And there are lots of lifeguards at numerous positions around the areas that need it.

Fantastic experience: I lost my purse while at the leisure centre on Tuesday 10th July I was really upset as there were things of sentimental value and money in it I emailed Julie Bolton the leisure centre manager and she checked the CCTV cameras etc Then I got a phone call yesterday morning to say they had found the purse I collected it this morning and everything was in it So I am soo happy and grateful Thank you

Negative experience: This gym is horrible you pay 40 pound just to have half the area used for a "class" which involves the coach gossiping for 40 mins with everyone. Waste of money

Positive experience: Nice water slides but the changing area very cold.Changing area should be heated for that price .

Fantastic experience: Excellent. Slides are awesome. My 6yo lad is able to go on all of them, even the steep yellow one loads of adults are afraid to try. My 5yo daughter can only go on the ring slide, but even that is absolutely brill. Really fast & zippy. The kids play zone is awesome. This place really is first class

Negative experience: Went for a family swim today and was not happy one bit about anything, very over crowded is understatement. Nothing for 1 year olds to play with in the splash pool no control from there staff . We had 15 year old with us, also paid for slides which were not open. In the changing rooms people just leaving stuff in the cubicles impossible to get one with needing one for a 1 year old had to wait approximately 15 minutes on one facilities where so cold not good for younger children if you are bringing them .

Fantastic experience: The family swim is fantastic, great mix of waterslides and great for BIG kids as well as the little ones. Just remember when the siren sounds it's time to run into the thick of it...you.should see all the brave daddys lining up to be soaked. Great family day out, lovely staff.

Negative experience: Was in the gym and overheard one of the Coaches making flirty and suggestive comments to his female clients, do they not hire professionals ?

Negative experience: We've been going to the place for a some time now. Although facilities are good, young lifeguards are certainly a massive letdown to the pool. I get the reason they do what they do, but for sure there is a much better way to do it. It is especially bad if the child is on a shy side. We had to stop going there for a year, because every time there is change of lifeguards, they were making our youngest do the swim test again & again (3-4 over the session). Eventually he had enough and said he doesn't want to go to the pool anymore. When I raised my concern with the duty manager, he took sided with the employee.

Fantastic experience: Very, very good. The staff are brilliant. The seating area is right beside the pool. 70 minutes with a coffee and a book, utter bliss! My two loved the slides. Even got a lie in the next day, as they were so tired from all the tearing about. We are going again today! Join up as a member and you get the reduced price for a year. It only costs £5 and it pays for itself in three outings. This memberships works in lots of other places, and in mainland uk. No brainer.

Positive experience: Clean pool + slides membership is a bargain. Slides are fun for all ages but the gym is alright. Glider stop right beside it if you need to talk a glider down. The gym is a good environment unlike others I’ve been to with friendly people and staff. Very good

The staff were friendly and went out of they're way to accommodate us when I made a mess of our booking and came too late for our slide session. Thanks to them the kids didn't miss out. Fantastic experience: Visited this leisure centre for the first time today along with my 8 year old daughter. Absolutely brilliant time. Slides are great, although I do have to admit to being scared on the drop slide! From arrival the staff were welcoming and friendly. The staff in the pool area are engaging and friendly. We both enjoyed our time here and will certainly be returning over the summer holidays.

Positive experience: Brilliant system when it comes to the swimming and gym etc. Although, few of the changing room locks don't work and doors don't fully close and basin you use to rinse your swimwear there is 2 of them but only one is working.

Negative experience: Have been a few times before but our most recent visit was highly frustrating. We arrived at 11.40am from Monaghan for our 11.50am booking. I was told the family fun swim had ran on so we would have to wait to get in. They did say we would get an extra 10 mins added to our 50 mins so we didn't say much. At 11.50am they let the next crowd in but the problem was everyone from the family swim was already in the dressing rooms and all the family changing rooms were full. I had 3 kids including a 12 week old so needed the family room to change my baby. We had to wait 15mins before we finally got one and the couple using it before us had only one child who was around 6 or 7 so I don't believe they should have used the bigger stall. We have used the regular ones before for 4 of us so it would be good to see staff in the changing rooms during busy periods. When we were heading towards the pool area we seen 2 other families who didn't need the use of a changing table in their stall. Ended up only getting 40 mins in total because it took so long to get everyone changed. When we got into the pool the wee slide in the splash area was closed off. This is the 2nd time if not 3rd time this has happened when we are visiting. Why?? Real waste of time after traveling 1hr and 10mins and very disappointing visit altogether. I have always recommended this place to family and friends but would recommend Lagan Valley in Lisburn instead especially for people with young families.

Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre, good deal on( better) membership, inclusive of classes , swims, gym. Family fun swim is great for kids with access to play area, slides, swim for fit is good, with access from 6am, good gym too. Staff are helpful and friendly also, only downside is there is no sauna , but everything else is great. I would highly recommend for family fun and fitness

Negative experience: Great gym and fitness classes, coaches are great but only 2 stars because of the cleanliness of the place the floors, training halls changing rooms and showers are filthy so unhygienic! How the managers and staff don't see this is beyond me I've seen the same dirt in the showers that have been there 2 weeks now!

Negative experience: Kids section is closed. Kids very disappointed. Booked 4:10pm. Only 50mins in the pool and they announced to close. Shower room door almost 30 of them only 20 can be use. This place is not operate correctly. Waste money on this.

Negative experience: Good gym with lots of equipment but literally children on every single machine and bench even when it’s not Adult and Junior Gym time. Total chaos.

Fantastic experience: Don't like that you can't pay in at the door and use the centre. Everything is done over phone even if you get there an it's not busy you can't use facilities.

Fantastic experience: Great fun for the whole family. Plenty of lifeguards around to keep everyone safe. Just be careful when booking the activities - slides need to be booked extra as they are not included in the family fun ticket but they are worth it!!

Fantastic experience: Really good facilities here with plenty of slides and other water features. Costs just shy of £30 for a family of four. Only criticism I would have is the booking mechanism through Better which seems to have more than one glitch present.

We travelled from Armagh Friday evening with two very eager boys to go on slides to be told no slides open, my fault i didn't check the website, but the staff were amazing when realised we had traveled so far they offered to let boys on the surfing experience no additional charge. I can't thank or praise them enough for their kindness and patience with the boys they had an amazing night. Thank you wonderful team we will definitely back, well run very clean and an amazing staff excellent value for money as well.

Negative experience: Not happy at all. We joined at Andersowntown leisure centre in person and have memberships for all 3 of us: 2 adults and 1 child up to almost 60£ a month. When purchased we asked if all facilities are included including waterslides, was told yes, to later find out waterslides are actually not included at all and come at an extra cost. Secondly we wanted to make it a family habit to go swimming every afternoon after work but nothing is available to book for Swim for all after 3 pm every day next week… Thirdly went today and staff was completely rude and literally kicked us out of the pool, had us wait 10 minutes behind gates and we entered the pool at 18:40 when our booking was at 18:30. And lastly the lockers are very very cold. Very disappointed. Will give lisnasharragh leisure centre a go (that was another pain to book 1h of swimming as they come in 10 min sessions…and as the app is so laggy it constantly froze and had to book 7 different sessions, took about 1h for 3 people to book 1h of swimming) on tuesday, and hope its better than andersontown. Otherwise complete waste of money and left with unhappy child who wants to go swimming every afternoon….

Positive experience: This is a truly amazing place. The staff are really kind, the facilities are new and the slides are epic. They have torrent, a blue slide which pushes you up and down and is absolutely amazing I rode that countless times on my own and with other people.Abyss, the only trapdoor waterslide in northern Ireland was so ecxillarating but I hurt myself on it and my back got sore so make sure you ride it sercurley with your arms and legs crossed. They also have vortex which is great and really dark. All the slides are fantastic.The Aqua play area is a big hit with small versions of the slides for kids and they have loads of water features and a gigantic tipping water bucket. There is also little lagoon a confidence pool for toddlers with a purple slide which is fun and a main pool. Overall it is a great day out for the family the staff are brilliant and I strongly recommend Anderson town leasure centre

Fantastic experience: I've never been to a cleaner leisure centre! We only did the surf thing but it was fantastic! Staff were really helpful. It does however have for settings so if your feeling adventurous like us get them to turn it up its hilarious! For the price you pay its well worth it, we went on a monday evening and there was only the 4 of us in the group.. so we got loads of goes. The centre was fantastic itself and a hive of activities, locals are very lucky to gave such an amazing facility so close!

Fantastic experience: Surf machine great fun! £15 for Better gym members. Was the only one on it - all the fun to myself. Surface is inflatable, super bouncy, and doesn’t hurt at all when you inevitably fall off (20 times over)

Fantastic experience: Fantastic pool and activity area for kids to play in. Three great water slides very well organized and clean. Only downside is parking can be hard to find in the built up area its located but as for the actual pool experience first class
