Positive experience: Wide range of free weights and weight machines (better than the Virgin Active I came from). But there are way too few of the lighter plates; if you want to nudge up by 2.5kg you may be hunting a while. Cardio options aren’t as good. Half the rowing machines were in disrepair recently, and they have no Watt bikes. Functional training floor isn’t bad for a gym at this price point. Changing room is super bare bones, as you’d expect. And if you want to actually speak with someone at the company…you’d better have time and patience. But overall decent value for money. and the hours are tops.

Negative experience: The Gym Group Angel: Unsafe and Zero Accountability On 22nd November 2024, £110 was stolen from my trousers in the dressing room at The Gym Group Angel. When I tried to report it, I discovered there’s literally no staff on-site to speak to, no phone number to call, and the only response I got was a generic automated email claiming I had “lost” the money. This wasn’t a loss—it was theft—and the gym’s complete lack of security and accountability is disgraceful. A place where members can’t even raise serious issues with a real person is unacceptable. Avoid this gym if you value your belongings or expect even basic customer service.

Fantastic experience: Gym has sufficient equipment, it is clean, and changing room is spacious. Staffs are friendly as well!

Negative experience: Absolute worse gym ever. Paid for full access all the time. Which was 44.99£. Literally first of the day the gym Turing Access my way in through pin and bar code but nothing works! After 30 minutes of retrying over and over still nothing so I left. Awful.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Brilliant to have Emily as one of the new managers as the old one (forgot his name) suffered from short man syndrome and was a very odd individual to say the least. Emily has given the gym a new lease of life and is very effective, polite and professional. All current staff are hardworking and extremely helpful at all times

Positive experience: It’s a nice spot open all hours and has a decent selection of machines and free weights, it’s usually pretty clean and tidy too, the only reason it’s 4 not 5 stars is that firstly, I’ve never interacted with the staff other than the night cleaner, as I train out of hours usually, and secondly because there’s always something broken and they take forever to fix it. Mostly that’s not an issue as there are more than one of most things, however the yanga drink machine was broken for a couple of months, and they still charged for it, and recently the disabled shower has been broken. They could do with applying a more pro active approach to maintenance. Other than that, it’s a fairly priced quality gym, for central London!

Fantastic experience: Been to a few gym groups and this is the best I've been too. The atmosphere is very welcoming as well as the staff and other gym members. Really enjoy the classes, especially Mahmouds Ladies who lift! Also it's a very clean and spacious gym!

Fantastic experience: The Gym in Angel is by far the best gym in central London. I have tried quite a few and none compare to it in regard to variety and options of equipment to use and overall location. It is the only one I know of in the area that is on street level and not tucked away in the basement. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They do a great job at keeping the facility clean and maintained. It is reasonably priced and totally worth it.

The environment at the gym is very friendly, all the staff are welcoming and helpful - especially Felipe who never fails to say hi everytime I come in. There is also a good variety of equiptment for activities/workouts.

Positive experience: Was here on a day pass, used to be a member was way better before, there was a lot of dirt & dust front of the treadmills where the window is, machines were cheap compare to other gyms I’ve been too, not worth £40, downstairs is small aswell, day pass expensive £14 !!!!!! Probably worth a £5

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and go above and beyond to ensure members are looked after and that everyone leaves with a smile and sense of accomplishment. Many thanks to Felipe, who resolved an issue I had with the vending machine in no time. He also greets me everytime I go to the gym. He is the reason I bought the 9-month membership.

Negative experience: DO NOT SIGN UP TO THIS GYM This gym is deceiving. I had been a loyal member for months. I wanted to cancel my membership but the deceiving cancellation process meant I accidentally remained a member. I accepted this loss and decided to keep attending. I go to the gym group the next day and my pin doesn’t work. I lost my money for nothing.

Positive experience: Sadly seeing a progressive decline in the classes choice and quality. These were the strength of this gym, but it seems that the core interest is now shifting. What a pity!

Fantastic experience: Awesome for low cost old school, Arnold Schwarzenegger style machines but multiple large workout spaces. Loads of machines fairly busy but evenly spread. However, it’s 24 hours, so you can go when it’s completely empty too! You can also go to their other gyms anywhere in the UK. I pay £40 per month and I can go to any gym anywhere my problem is motivating myself to go, but I think you get that with any gym!

Negative experience: I'm interested in potentially joining The Gym Group London Angel (as Fitness First Angel is closing), but keen to do a tour first to see what it's like and what equipment they have. Website says to go during staffed hours and someone will be able to help - I've tried this three time in the past four days and there's never anyone there, so each trip has been a complete waste of my time. Tried emailing and sending messages on Instagram to see if I can arrange a specific time to visit, but all messages have so far gone ignored.

Positive experience: Pros: well-priced, good range of equipment, not busy in off-peak times. Plenty of treadmills and bikes even in peak times, and a great range of weights. Staff are helpful when they’re available. The 24/7 access usually works well (although I was locked in once when needing to leave). The change rooms are very spacious and have plenty of showers. Cons: very unhygienic! Hand sanitiser dispensers have been remove, so the only way to clean your hands is in the bathroom, but the soap dispensers in the bathrooms are usually empty. There are also no paper towels/wipes for equipment - staff clean occasionally but it’s really not enough given how busy the gym gets. Nobody uses a towel. The upstairs areas are extremely loud during classes, as they are held on the gym floor (no enclosed space). Instructors play their music/mic over the gym speakers, even with a class of a few people. Can’t hear your own audio when working out upstairs during classes.
