The Plumstead Centre

Negative experience: Usually good, it's a small gym with limited equipment. Usually this is ok, as its not normally busy enough to cause a problem. At the moment 1 of 2 bikes (this has been the case for over a month) and the only rowing machine are out of action which makes a mockery of the membership fee.

Positive experience: Ok but a bit hot.

Positive experience: This is my local leisure centre and is a mixed bag of experiences. While there are aspects that shine, there are areas that could use some improvement. Pros • Staff: The centre staff are a highlight. They are consistently friendly and helpful, making each visit a pleasant experience. • Instructors: The instructors for the Pilates and group cycle classes are brilliant. They bring a level of expertise and enthusiasm that greatly enhances the classes. Mixed • Facilities: The vaulted ceiling is a beautiful architectural feature that enhances the experience of the evening pilates class and adds a unique charm to the centre. However, the triplets room is less appealing to me. It’s small and dark, which makes it feel cramped and closed-in. Cons • Class Range & Timing: The range of classes and their scheduling, particularly in the evening, could be better. More variety and flexibility would enhance the centre’s appeal. • Café: The café is a significant disappointment. Despite having a good kitchen space and ample tables and chairs, it was only open for a short time when the renovated centre opened in 2020. This underutilization feels like a wasted opportunity to provide a valuable service to visitors. The google map logo for the centre is a coffee cup which misleads new visitors that a café is there. In conclusion, while the centre has its strengths, notably the staff and instructors, there are areas, like the class schedule and lack of café, that need improvement to truly make this centre a top-notch facility.

Positive experience: Very good indoor soft play and suitable for toddlers and babies age ,,there is not much for big boys and girls ,,it has small slide but not ball pit

Fantastic experience: Very fresh and modern community/leisure centre. We visited the soft play which was very clean and good value. Also not very busy which is nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The centre would really benefit from a cafe as they have the space for it but no one to run it.

Fantastic experience: I would like to say that I simply like this center. Very clean facilities,a quiet place to perform your session in peace,and well organised environment. I met ADAM on my very first,he was very helpful, friendly and attentive to details. He showed me how to hit chest and shoulders.I’m happy with his services. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to get in good shape. Thanks ADAM.

Negative experience: Whilst I like the general facilities at the centre, I feel there is a limited range of group fitness classes by day and no availability of group fitness classes in the afternoons. Was attending Body conditioning basics for a long time then it moved to 9.15 on Monday mornings, too early for me! As a retired person who wants to maintain fitness, I feel the needs of retired people are not being represented, and think there should be more group fitness classes around lunchtimes and for the centre to actively encourage people of over 65 to join classes perhaps by a targeted advertising campaign.

Negative experience: The staff at this gym are not doing their job. Hoovering around 7 pm when the gym closes at 9. There is no paper to wipe the equipment. Gets busy and the equipment is limited.

Negative experience: The place is small and smells bad. Some users are rude. Ppl tend to take all the weights to them and don’t like to share… I will never come back

Negative experience: Very small and limited gym facilities. Toilets constantly have no toilet paper or soap, bins at the gym are constantly full, running out of machine cleaning liquid and paper roll. Water machine constantly broken and the gym has leaks also very often. The gym gets very busy and you cannot do a proper workout. Also, had an issue with a woman taking the barbell I was using and refused to give me back, I spoke to the staff which did not help me whatsoever. I have then cancelled my gym membership and signed up at a different gym. AVOID THIS GYM!

Fantastic experience: We booked this place very last minute (do not leave it till last minute). From the day we went to pay to the end of our party, Alison was absolutely brilliant, very welcoming and accommodative; she was full of smiles from our first engagement till we walked out of the building. The place is by the main road so very easy to access. Soft play doors are secure so parents can sit back and relax as the kids play without any worry the kids shall run out etc. Toilets are absolutely clean. My daughter and her friends had such a great time and we parents enjoyed chatting away nicely. Very suitable venue for first to 6th year old birthday parties. Fantastic experience: Thank you to the Soft Play centre for another amazing birthday for my 5 year old. This is the second time we have used the room and it was a great experience with the staff being super helpful throughout and the children and parents enjoying the space. Feeling lucky to have such a wonderful venue in this area!!

Fantastic experience: This gym is absolutely perfect - usually quiet and always clean, with plenty of equipment to use. The team are fantastic, especially Ali. Ali always goes over and above to greet people, make them feel welcome & gives you great advice on things you could be doing. I’d 100% recommend this gym.

Positive experience: I like this gym but I had to leave it because of the prices. Another thing to consider is that you have to give 20 days notice when leaving otherwise they charge you.

Positive experience: This is such a nice, compact and quiet gym, I like working out here as the staff are friendly and the footfall are steady, you don’t get annoying dudes coming over saying “how many sets you got left mate”. Only thing I would say could add to make this 5 star is there are add more equipments and classes. But that’s the price I am willing to pay for a quiet gym.

Fantastic experience: The Plumstead centre is a great addition to Plumstead! It’s very clean and tidy, staff are always friendly and approachable. There’s a huge range of fitness classes that take place daily led by instructors who are professional and fun! The gym has a great amount of equipment and is the perfect size I enjoy working out there as it’s quiet and has everything I need. There’s also a lot of things for children to do such as dance classes and music lessons. My children specifically enjoy going to soft play. With the centres booking system it allows only a certain number of people in the soft play to avoid it becoming overcrowded and unsafe for the young children. Overall the Plumstead centre is a great place to go with things to do for every member of our family! :)

Fantastic experience: Staff are very helpful and friendly. They go out of their way to assist with any problems and issues. They give advice on exercise and assist with how to use the equipment especially very early in the morning.

Negative experience: No complaints whatsoever regarding the facilities at the new centre. Staffs are excellent except the short guy in spects ( George as per name tag ) who doesn’t like any customers in general..Beware !

Positive experience: The 40 min window for peak time is very unjustful for any one to play badminton. Also with relatively high price than usual in any courts although this can be due to the nice facility. The staff in general very nice except for the young chap with glasses who comes across as a staff who is not interested in being there!

Fantastic experience: Great gym with fantastic facilities. Fantastic choice of machines and free weights. I enjoy doing dumbbell exercises on the bench. I wish it was slightly bigger so more people could do weights exercises at once, but a great gym nonetheless. The gymgoers are respectful of social distancing and are cleaning equipment before and after use. Very pleasant, clean and wonderful. I keep going gym regularly and remain active because of the cleanliness and friendliness of staff!

Fantastic experience: The gym is everything anyone living in plumstead has wanted for many years! It is on the smaller side but brand new and about 2.5 times the size of the very old gym

Positive experience: Great gym, although on the really small side. No bar for weights, and there are only 3 benches for weights. Can easily see this getting cramped depending on how many people come during peak hours. Machines come with built in streaming services which is great to keep you entertained. It's clean and good if you're looking for more cardio-related fitness.
