Fantastic experience: Gym group Southfields is my favorite gym in the area! The equipment is always maintained, and if something is damaged the managers always note it down to be looked at. Changing room is always clean and tidy. Roberto and Alejo are the best gym managers. Always friendly, helpful, and polite. Roberto even helped me with learning to use a machine new to me. Their PT staff are all wonderful as well, everyone I've met has been so friendly!
Negative experience: Horrible place, small, smelly. It is in the basement. Not enough equipment. Staff are rude. The customer service is non-existent. It takes more than a month to get a simple response from them. What a waste of time. Keep away from this place. This is the second time I signed up to The Gym group. On my first time, I gave up on going because nobody could help me when I needed assistance using the equipments and nobody really cares if you're executing the exercise wrong. This time, I was very excited because I was going with my nephew, who had more experience than me, so he was helping me and was my gym buddy. Unfortunately, we are NOT allowed to have a gym buddy at The Gym group. I was humiliated on the third day when I was asked to leave the gym in the middle of my training. I was accused of going to the gym at the same time every time, and apparently, my gym buddy is my personal training. So if you are thinking of going to the gym with a friend, this is not the gym for you. I paid £12 for the first month, and now they are charging me £12,99 for a day pass as I requested to cancel my membership after being expelled in the middle of my training on my third day. They are refusing to refund me. It's absolutely outrageous!!! For sure, the worst experience ever!!!

Positive experience: In general this is a decent gym and has been my local for a few years now. However they need advice on their priorities and recommendations… For example: 1. Members pay for the gym, so they should be allowed access to all areas. Including the mats. They shouldn’t be told to leave as mandatory when classes are scheduled. I understand it’s a small gym therefore you should schedule classes during more quiet periods rather than peak after work. 2. Schedule classes at quieter times!! 3. Sort the lockers out PLEASE! More than half of them don’t work. 4. Sometimes less is more - don’t crowd the gym with equipment for the sake of it. Rather use funds and surplus for priorities. Please take above on board. I like this gym and would like to come more often. But at the moment you’re not putting customers as a priority. Which is a shame. There are cheaper local alternatives now. Thanks.
Negative experience: It’s 7am and I’m standing by the Southfields branch where I can’t enter the gym. There is no one to call or ask of what’s going on. My Wandsworth branch has been closed for some maintenance and my pin should work in temporary branch but it doesn’t. There is few people with me right now having the same problem. Really dissapointed as I had to travel for nothing.

Positive experience: Very nice gym i love it , never had any issues , very clean , open space, bright, and the equipment always working.. never overcrowded really. The only thing i found it really unsafe is that i haven’t seen any supervisor or in charge last time i had an incident at 22:00 pm . where i was getting dressed in women’s toilets and when i came out to take my bag and go home i saw a man coming in and sat there with attitude , luckily enough i was dressed but i got panicked and i left and as i was leaving found nowhere to report that to . Really felt so unsafe going after 20:00. Please i think cameras are not enough if something happens someone needs to be there . I have never been so late at the gym before but due to my work duties i ended up to go that time.

Positive experience: I joined Southfields the gym around 6 weeks ago, and on the whole it’s ok. It’s clean and tidy and when you do occasionally see staff they are very friendly. But the amount of equipment that is out is not great. If it’s was a few days it would be bearable, but some equipment has been broken since I started and more broken since. The drinks machine I meant to get my free unlimited drink from has been out since I started and this is meant to be in my membership I’m paying for and I’ve never been able to use it. Seeing that it’s a small gym and when it’s very busy it’s not the best having to wait around. And although this is not the gym’s fault the amount of people that just sit on the equipment on their phones is annoying. My son also mentioned when he was using the bench press the cleaner caught his leg with the cable of the hoover and instead of unravelling it tugged the cable and pulled his leg round nearly causing him to drop 70kg on himself. Classes are always booked up and feel near impossible to get onto. Probably cos it’s a small gym so only small classes allowed, so maybe be good to add more classes in.

Negative experience: It’s always best to do single day before signing up to a gym and today was proof why It was my first day today and I had such a rude interaction with a Personal Trainer cleaning the gym floor. She took my lifting bar knowing it was mine because I was using it in the wrong section. She was so arrogant when I questioned her on it. If there is something I dislike about a gym it’s PT’s who think they are superior to the rest of the people at the gym. It was not the vibe!! Not signing up!

Fantastic experience: The Gym Group Southfields is one of my favourites in London. The premise has a good range of machinery and is always clean and well-maintained, but what I like most is the classes and their friendly staff. I especially really enjoy the different classes: HITT, circuits, weights for women, etc. All the staff are amazing. I really enjoy the classes with Fernanda, Veronika, Rukhsana, Aretha, Alejo, and Ross. All of them are amazing trainers and are always happy to help and motivate us. The nice and welcoming environment is what motivates me to go every day. Thank you all!

Fantastic experience: The Gym group is great. I have had the opportunity to meet competent personal trainer like Fernanda. She is very skilled, gentle and bring new techniques to the classes. The gym is clean, in good location and the staff are friendly. I wish the management team have had approved the zumba classes, but unfortunately they haven't. The classes could change a little bit but it's always the same. Finally my experience was positive and I would recommend the gym group to friends.

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend Southfields gym group enough. Aretha Taylor Schmidt especially is a fantastic PT and really keeps you motivated to give a bit more even if you think you can’t do it. Great range of equipment too, and spacious workout areas downstairs. Never thought I could enjoy working out so much!
Negative experience: Really impossible to work out due to over subscription. Too many people in the gym at any one time. People hogging each machine, unwilling to share. No staff in sight to address concerns, for example, on my last visit a group of 5 guys kept the only smith machine between them, preventing anyone else from using it for about an hour. When challenged, I experienced physically threatening behaviour from the ringleader.

All the trainers are awesome and very friendly. My PT is Veronika and it's been the best decision I've ever made. 2 years and counting and we continue to smash goals together. Highly recommend

Negative experience: “Something’s gone wrong” - this is a sign you will see everywhere around the gym. The treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, cable machines… even the lift and the emergency alarm! I’ve been coming to this gym on a daily basis for more than 3 years. Whilst the gym has the essentials, recently quality has been slipping. Weight labels are missing from countless machines, so many machines are out of order for weeks at a time. Hand soap is a luxury in the men’s bathroom with the dispenser being broken for over a week and the staff being unaware of it when raised with them. Every so often they close the gym for a “refresh” with no obvious signs of any changes, and still broken machines remain afterwards. Just because it’s a cheaper gym should not mean that the basics are forgotten about. Improvements urgently needed!

The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed, without too much competition for equipment space. Due to its location, good equipment, and service, the gym is worth it. Negative experience: I have been a member since the gym opened and I workout daily. Since COVID we have had cleaning stations I get they can be reduced but to remove the blue paper and spray is crazy. Covid has not gone away I was always so proud it was so clean and tidy. It really notices the showers are not cleaned and dust is everywhere always so sad. The staff are still very friendly
Hi, hope you are well. Robust cleaning and sanitising regimes are still in place and we continue to pump in 100% fresh air ventilation, day and night, we clean on a daily basis, including cleaning of all equipment and gym facilities with anti-viral products. We are now going to start reducing the number of cleaning stations through the gym whilst still providing cleaning materials for those members who desire them to clean down kit.
Negative experience: I won’t be returning. Having cold air blowing on you whilst in the changing room is not my idea of fun. Less air con in the winter learn from other gyms in the gym group and think about your members.

Fantastic experience: Best budget gym I’ve been to, great selection of equipment and never too busy
Fantastic experience: Best gym in the area. Alejo is an amazing manager, very friendly and helpful. He always support me with my doubts about fitness and technique. If is there any problem in the gym he resolves it quick or give flexible options. Even they open a closer gym for me in wimbledon I will stay here!
Negative experience: Always dirty they barely change the blue paper On top everything the staff are rude If you try talking to them they and their girlfriends will attack you with rude suggestions Like bring the blue paper from home if you want non sticky machine or clean machines to use Disgusting

Negative experience: I bought 3 days membership in the gym, I waited 30 minutes for it to become active and it didn't. I got a message that it is active after 1 hour, but I already left the gym and wasted 1 day

Positive experience: The good: best value for money, period. New and well kept equipment with a good variety. Friendly staff. Open 24 hours! The bad: dusty all over. There’s always hair on the squat platform that they never clean. There’s more cardio machines than people using them, wasted space for more popular equipment like bench press and squat rack. When broken, equipment can take ages to be fixed (including the Wi-Fi that went out for days once, on a basement gym with no outside signal? Come on!). The encouragement to clean equipment after use by having tissue and disinfectant all over the gym causes unnecessary waste and gives people the false impression that the equipment they’re using is clean, as many users won’t do a good cleaning job anyway. I’d rather you get a professional to clean the equipment on a daily basis — that is much better for the environment and our health. Finally, some people, like myself, are sensitive to strong smells, I would strongly recommend certain PTs to avoid wearing excessive amounts of perfume when they’re on the gym floor.

Negative experience: The wifi never works, another work out where I have just left to go workout at home because I can’t follow my plan or even listen to music. This keeps happening and never gets resolved

Fantastic experience: The trainers here are incredibly friendly and extremely qualified. They really care and go above and beyond to help achieve goals. The community they have built is incredible, and it is a joy working out here. Their group classes are challenging and fun they focus on strength training. Good mix of functional fitness with traditional gym equipment. Great people and great results.

Fantastic experience: First off, the staff are amazing. Very attentive to your needs but also polite and knowledgeable. I spoke to a gentleman called Nicholas I believe and he was outstanding, really put my nerves to ease and walked me through various exercises. Brilliant location and atmosphere.
