Negative experience: I’m a current member at Newcastle. I’ve been trying to downgrade my membership from diamond to platinum but no one will respond to me. You owe me over £100. Can you look into this asap please. Case reference is 1871787. I’ll delete this 1 star review and put a 5 star review on when you’ve sorted this out as the gym is great and the staff at the club are amazing, just the membership team appears to be quite useless!! Negative experience: I came in for a tour with Megan everything seemed great but we were massively mis informed about many things we were told classes were available all the time and the crèche was part of our membership once our child was added the find out us an additional £6 an hour and all classes are fully booked for 2 weeks, I tried multiple times to cancel membership within the 14 day cool off period with nobody getting back me then finally Megan rings trying anything to get us to keep our membership but when she didn’t get her way she hung up being very rude she must get a commission for people she signs up she needs a reality check

Positive experience: Overpriced socual club with gym facilities. If you are after a posh club then it is fine, if you regularly use pool, steam room, jacuzzi...etc then you can have a look to nuffield (it is 2 minutes drive) which is nearly half the price for full membership. If you don't use any of these facilities and you want a gym then you can get what you need for 20 pounds a month maximum all around North East.

Negative experience: I recently visited Newcastle to participate in the Great North Run. After the run, I had planned to use the facilities at David Lloyd's for a quick shower and sauna session to aid in my recovery. I had previously spoken to members of my gym in Edinburgh, who had assured me that this would be possible. However, upon arriving at David Lloyd's in Newcastle, I was informed that my platinum membership did not grant me access to their facilities. This left me feeling disappointed and somewhat like a second-class citizen.

Fantastic experience: Today I the pleasure of visiting David Lloyd in Newcastle. The facilities were great and the staff were also extremely friendly I was shown around by a young man called Josh who was extremely knowledge about all the different types of equipment. He took time to show me each machine as well as some additional features to the fitness club which I didn’t realise they had. It was an extremely good expense thanks again to Josh and the team.

Negative experience: - Review Paid for by Google - I would like to rate the David Lloyd club well, but I cannot in good conscience do so. The facilities are usually kept in good condition, though the one instance where it had slipped had been the worst experience at any leisure center I have been a member of. Adult human stool in the shower. While that was definitely not a normal occurrence, it leads into the real issue that this club has. Its patrons. The majority of issues me and my partner have had in this club had been because of other members, at times compounded by some members of staff. The clubs approach to member issues can be very hands-off. At times it seems the only resolution the club can offer are free milkshakes at the cafe. When we chose to leave the club, I was grateful that the new manageress had listened to us and allowed us to leave with no cancellation fees because of the issues faced. (Still a small sting considering we had been there for no more than 3 months of our 12 month contract, with a near £150 in joining fees between us) I would be interested in rejoining down the line, but there is no way I would be willing to double-dip on joining fees if it remains a risk The club *might* be better these days, I can imagine that under the right management, things can have improved since we left. I hear they are constructing an outdoor pool, it is nice to see investment. I just wonder if any level of investment can make this club into a safe space - It has been a while, and I do not like to post negativity, but I believe this review to be balanced and fair

Positive experience: The club facilities are very good, but if you work 9-5 then increasingly the evening times are being squeezed. Recently the cleaning staff have been closing the steam room and sauna 20mins before closing, and leaving cleaning equipment (hoses, buckets etc) in the shower area to discourse use of the facilities. I appreciate they want to finish and head home, but David Lloyd needs to decide how long the members actually have access to the club facilities for. Perhaps make a tannoy announcement to be clear when the pool facilities close rather than resorting to these indirect passive aggressive tactics to get the members out.

Negative experience: Friendly staff and good equipment, management lack reason and are completely inflexible. It’s a real shame. Don’t expect to be able to visit this DL if you’re a member at another club, even when quiet. You’ll be turned away.

Fantastic experience: I got in touch with the club a few months ok regarding interest in becoming member. Kate got in touch with me very promptly she was very friend and professional. It was a bit of time before I could get in, unfortunately Kate wasn’t in when I wanted to come so I was shown around by Dan he was extremely friendly he showed me around the club and went through the options with me. He was very friendly and he put me at ease as I can find new places a bit daunting. The gym is lovely and Kate and Dan were extremely helpful and between them both they got me all set up to start my new journey at David llyod.
