Physique Evolution Gym & Fitness - Gym In Derby

Fantastic experience: Today is my first day in physique evolution. I had a great time with Ali Maughan who is my induction class trainer. Such a wonderful person who taught me with perfect demo of each and every machines, which I didn't know before, he took extra time to taught me thats the best of him. So friendly and a kind person. Honestly, I had a happy feeling once I finished my workout today. The environment and people's are so good. Especially all trainers are amazing, very friendly, and helpful. Thanks Ali, for your time.

Fantastic experience: Best gym in Derby IMO. The range of equipment and the split across two floors is great. The staff are always friendly and really helpful if there is a problem which there barely ever is. The gym has a great vibe with friendly regulars and the group that train early morning are the best. Great range of music too and I look forward to the RnB Thursdays plus the classic 90's dance! Keep up the good work.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! Can be very busy at times but thankfully I go off peak most days. Equipment is top notch and unlike most gyms they refresh the pads on them to keep new. Staff are nice and friendly and cardio section is good. Dedicated lighting room is class and sun beds.

Negative experience: Amazing gym with great machines and an on-point boxing/muy Thai area upstairs. The machines are brand new and the crowd is super friendly. The area is safe and 10/10 on cleanliness. Sadly, some staff have no empathy for the people that can’t cope with unbearable loud music. This gym is only made for the young and strong night clubbers. Despite being sold on the ‘upstairs’ music being much lower than the downstairs - that is simply not true. It sounds much louder up there because it's more compact and not very busy so there are no machine noises to buffer the sound. At 5:30pm on a Saturday I was upstairs on my own with the music blasting and I kindly asked the reception lady to help me lower it a bit, and she made me feel like an outcast and made sure to make me aware she was doing me a one-time favor by turning it down while ‘name dropping’ her ‘manager’ as he chooses how loud it gets. The general manager is aware of this request and has acknowledged my email by replying taking just enough accountability for how loud the music is and what type of music they play. Thanks! It’s been very disappointing, before I signed up – I called the gym twice to have this music conversation and I visited upstairs with a trainer who showed me a lovely space with bearable music volume but for some reason it's no longer that way. I’m still a member and give them my money but it’s only because I have no choice. I highly recommend this gym for those who have no issues with knowing that there is a way for the gym to be inclusive and turn the music to a volume that allows everyone to enjoy their workouts but they simply won't. In PE no one cares if your brain is frying, just tough it out. MY

Fantastic experience: Stayed in Derby for for work overnight. Found the gym using Google.. what a great atmosphere to train in... really cheap as drop in prices go. Staff were super friendly and really helpful... next time.im in Derby ill defo.be heading back.

Negative experience: Don’t like:( everything is old, dirty and damaged. The location is scary for me, sheds and nothing more Extremely small changing rooms and just 8 (?) cells for such a big gym and lockers on the cells did not work. There isn’t a shower

Positive experience: Great gym with a great range of equipment although a lot of it is pretty beaten up. Very friendly staff. Only downsides for me are the changing rooms being incredibly small with not much locker space, half of which didn't even work, and the 1 shower available on site. Not a gym to use if you're planning to go before work and need somewhere to get ready.

Negative experience: Good gym and equipment brands few extra pieces I would like especially chest since the majority of machines are extremely hard to get short which isn’t ideal especially later on in the session maybe a few more adjustable benches, can’t really complain though. But there’s a silly 3 strike system about re-racking your weights in which the 3rd strike you get kicked out but i see a lot of plate loaded pieces with plates left on the machine but staff don’t seem to chase people up on it, however I was given a ‘strike’ my first time upon entering the gym after taking the majority of my plates off just leaving one on which is completely reasonable saying most people would start on that and at the time didn’t even know this rule even existed as I wasn’t made aware of it, following this I was given another one after seeing that nobody else seemed to re-rack their weights once again leaving a singular plate on because there was no space to put it and which is probably more convenient for the next person using the machine, staff followed me up on this later on in the session by watching what I was doing on the cctv cameras interrupting me mid set to make me aware and told me I needed to walk across the gym to take this single plate off, wouldn’t annoy me if other people re-racked their weights however I seem to be one of the only few who are doing in now seems like the staff are nitpicking who they decide to chase up about it maybe because they are friends or just can’t be bothered, majority of the staff are very friendly and easy to get along with

Fantastic experience: Love, love, love this gym! Currently on a rolling monthly membership and the vibe of the gym is amazing. Well equipped for all areas of the body and a variety of cardio machines. Staff are super friendly and really helpful. Very busy gym and I understand why - great if you want to lift! Well stocked for whey, pre-workout, snacks and food. Lots of parking and love the 5am opening.

Fantastic experience: Amazing space! Coming from a pure gym before I was apprehensive about going but was greeted by lovely staff and was offered a walk round and shown where everything was. Equipment is top notch and upstairs is perfect for a more private session with cardio and squat racks to practice without feeling embarrassed, the atmosphere is one that you can tell it’s a community of people rather than “just a gym” like I’ve seen in other places, definitely will be back!

Positive experience: Top gym in the Derbyshire area! Been searching and searching for a decent gym, and there's such a great collection of machines to choose from and work every muscle group, and I've yet to see a broken piece of equipment, so things are well maintained. Extra cleaning maybe on the treadmills/bikes upstairs. Staff are super friendly and welcoming every time I go in! Only major downside, is that although the tunes they play in the gym are bangin', it's waaaaaay too loud. I can put noise cancelling headphones on, and still hear the music. I got a warning on my phone for the decibels exceeding the acceptable amount the other day! I'm all for some motivation, but not at the expense of my hearing! (hence the two missing stars) Keep up the good work guys!

If you’re trying to get massive, this place is the one without a question. They offer supplements at a very good price at reception and have a fantastic line of apparel. On top of that the staff are more than happy to help, and very friendly. Doesn’t hurt that their music taste is unreal too Could not recommend this gaff any higher

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at physique evolution since it opened. After being a member of numerous other gyms in the area I have to say this is by far the best! Not only is the equipment great the atmosphere is immense. The staff aren’t just super friendly and welcoming they are people you can have banter with. They will go above and beyond if you need help or advice on anything. I’d love to say I had a favourite member of staff but they are all great. The owner Matthew is especially welcoming. He always walks around and makes an effort to speak to you. Everyone who trains there is friendly and it’s great to be around like minded individuals who have similar goals, whether it’s to just stay fit and healthy or weather it’s to compete on stage. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone!!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely great place to train. The staff are welcoming, friendly and informative. Always happy to leave the desk to support you/ spot you! The gym is under going endless improvements and keeps getting better and better. I work for the NHS so I get a discount (yes NHS discount!!) but even without the discount you really can’t complain at the price for what this gym offers. I can say it gets busy at the usual times as expected but I’m never waiting too long for equipment. This gym and it’s staff really has helped turn my life around. You guys are great!!! Fantastic experience: ***The best gym with the best people **** Having trained in gym's across the world for the last 20+ years this place for me supersedes the rest. The facilities and equipment are excellent with all your classics and a few modern pieces, if you love training legs you will not be disappointed. Some real thought and planning has gone into this place from the functionality, look , lighting and the sound. Matt and the team are great bunch always professional, attentive there to lend a ear and give advice. A great place to get results and meet like minded people.

Positive experience: Not a bad gym q decent qmmount of equipment but the condition of some of it isn't great they could do with my benches and extra dumbells as the commonly used weights aren't available during the peaks. The upstairs area is a bit barren and could do with some extra mats.

Fantastic experience: Great venue for those who are serious about strength training. The machinery here is some of the best in the region and I'd be here full time if I lived closer.

Fantastic experience: The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and professional and can't do enough for you. The gym has parking available for members directly outside meaning you dont need to find parking elsewhere and walk over. The gym is always tidy and clean with antibacterial spray available to wipe all equipment down before and after use. The equipment is top quality and there is plenty in there to use. Classes are available for all gym members too. You wont find a better gym than this anywhere.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I have ever trained at 100% . The atmosphere is great and everyone supports each other. The staff always there to help you if you need a spot or just need some help with the machines. Also the equipment is top notch !

Negative experience: I'm not very happy with the fact that there are always weights strewn all over the place and no member of the staff bothers to pick them up. Also there are no water fountains and it's close to impossible to fill your water bottle from the toilet sink tap. The lockers have an automated locking system that doesn't work . The staff have been told about this but it hasn't been fixed. Anyone could open your locker with any code. Its a good location and has quite a few good machines but the experience is a bit tarnished with all that I mentioned above .

Fantastic experience: One of the top facilities out here in the East Midlands. There atmosphere suits the goers of the establishment — people who want to get better and do this by using the best equipment in the industry. The staff there are always willing to give a hand or a spot when needed. When you dont need to have headphones in during a session, you know the place is always playing high tempo bangers. Would definitely recommend getting a day pass to see what you think of it.
