Fantastic experience: Got myself a week pass after landing a job round the corner to the gym. Happily surprised as to how well equipped, clean and friendly the gym was. Mike and his team were amazing everytime I went in there, Will definetly pop back in there even if its just to see the guys. 100% recommended to veterans and newbies to training

Fantastic experience: The best gym in town. All equipment is regularly maintained and cleaned to a very high standard, thanks to the diligent work of the staff here. Outstanding air conditioning that keeps you nice and cool during hot summers. This is an area where this gym stands above the rest in Welwyn Garden City. There is always adequate room to exercise and queues for equipment are consistently kept to a minimum. I have been here for about 3 years now, after trying several other gyms in the area. It is absolutely worth it - sign up now!

Fantastic experience: A really friendly, well-run gym - clean, spacious, with a good atmosphere and extensive equipment, that offers great value for money! Had a super induction session - Mike and Harry are so helpful, knowledgeable and motivational - setting a personalised programme that will really help me achieve my fitness goals. Can't wait to get started on the new programme! I've been a member of several gyms in the past but Anytime Fitness Welwyn Garden City is my number one gym!

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, Mike and his team are brilliant, Owen and Harry are also wonderful and they all really care about the members of the club. They all look like they work so hard. Loads of work being done at the moment as well, I’m excited to see how the rest of the work looks once it’s completed, all the machines have new covers on them that look great, so I’m excited to see the new bathrooms and equipment coming in.

Positive experience: ⚠️ Note: Added pictures that prove most points. Updated review reply at the end. ⭐ Highlights: ⬆️ Pros: Nice staff (helping you improve your workout for free), competitive price, 24 h, good location, spaceful between machines. ⬇️ Cons: Dirty mats, dirty floor, some damaged/sticky metal handles for dumbells for commonly used weights (5 kg to 20 kg), small compared to other gyms. ✅ Users usually have good vibes. There is plenty of equipment for the size. ❌ Most people don't clean after using equipment. Cleaning standards are very improvable. There are 2-3 towel to clean all the gym with an average of around 10-18 users at a time. These towels are always genuinely filthy, the pictures don't lie - I don't mean to be harsh. Additionally, there are disposable wipes but they are very sticky so they cannot be used to clean large surfaces like mats. ✅ Sometimes too busy, but often quite empty so it's good for training. ❌ All benches are damaged on the padded surface (see pictures), although 2 of them were fine 2 months ago. Most bathrooms / changing rooms have been locked for some time even though nobody is in there, due to some repairs (according to staff) - I'll update if it changes. Feedback is moderately well received - they listen - but there is still pending work to improve cleaning standards. They received an award for customer service recently, but I am a bit disappointed in how customer feedback about cleanliness is currently addressed. They replied to my initial email saying they addressed the concerns by adding a small font sign asking user to remove their shoes and clean their mats, but there are still only 2-3 towels always dirty and users barely can see the one sign due to using too much text in small fonts. Update based on previous gym management reply: Thanks for replying to my previous comments above in your message and for making an effort to address the feedback. Since I see you are trying, I am changing from 3 to 4 stars. Again, while the new sign is a step in the right direction, the ongoing cleanliness challenges suggest more robust measures are needed. Clearer, larger, more direct signage (large, relevant symbols like a shoe gather more attention than long paragraphs) and ensuring a consistent supply of clean towels as well as useful cleaning supplies (as well as avoiding "sticky" disposable wipes) could be key for large surfaces like mats. Also, most flooring has dirt as shown in the pics. Maybe a brief survey or suggestion box could help gather user input on how to make these changes most effective? Also, increasing professional cleaning frequency (not just by users) and providing digital reminders for existing users can reinforce users awareness of the need for a clean gym for the rest of the users. Your commitment to improvement is evident, and I'm hopeful that with a few adjustments, we can enhance the gym experience for everyone.

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for a year now. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, if you need advice or help with a machine or your individual fitness programme then they are always happy to help. I've been to other gyms in the past but this one of the best. No one judges you, no matter what stage of your fitness journey you are on. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Really great gym with fantastic fitness facilities . After a few weeks you can try out their other branches which have all sorts of equipment great for encouraging someone new to get fit close to their area as-well as accurate biometric measurers . The staff at Welwyn are very friendly and facilitate a healthy gym atmosphere - which is not an easy thing when weights can be left lying around etc - but they do it and do it well .

Fantastic experience: Fantastic place to work out. Plenty of choice. All the standard workout machines for muscle building as well as a well equipped area for loose weights and floor work. There are enough cardio machines to mean there's always opportunities to work out, even at peak times. Nice to see a gym that has a bunch of classes that seem to have a regular attendance of friendly members. Nice to have the option to use the studio area when there isn't a class in progress. Super friendly staff always make me leave with a smile on my face even after a tough workout.

Fantastic experience: Massive thank you to the amazing, friendly folks at Anytime Fitness Welwyn Garden City. A gym could easily just be a room full of equipment but that's not what it feels like here. The staff truly care about the members. My time here has taught me the power of showing up, working hard and being consistent. I learnt to enjoy the process. I learnt how supportive the silent strangers who are also part of the #anytimefitnesswelwyngardencity family can be. Just seeing the same faces doing the same thing I am, trying to improve each day is a great motivator. The simplicity of the friendly greeting and encouragement I get from the staff every time they see us heading in and heading out (tired but weirdly energised) is priceless. Knowing that there are knowledgeable, supportive staff members around to answer questions and offer assistance really makes a difference. Over the course of this year, it's worked. I've lost over 3 stone (47lbs). I no longer get the complaints from my hips and knees that I used to get after a long walk a year ago. I still have work to do, but I'm a lot fitter, happier and healthier than I was last year. We even took advantage of Anytime being a worldwide gym and worked out a few times on holiday at a branch local to my dad in Florida! Thank you all for helping me achieve so much. I can't recommend this gym highly enough, especially if, like me, the gym sounds daunting at first.

Fantastic experience: Been a member of this gym for nearly two years, predominantly as it's in a great location and used to live up to its name of being "Anytime Fitness" - and likewise due to the selection of equipment that's available. If you need a gym, it's a good choice - especially as it has a longer opening time than anything comparable in the local area. However, the general upkeep of the place appears to have slipped - with two treadmills currently in a sorry state, alongside a leg extension that's missing a grip. --- Edit: Following the review being posted, concerns around the non-sociable hours exit were addressed via email. I'm glad that AFWGC remains committed to their patrons, and look forward to what comes next.

Fantastic experience: Really nice gym. Staff there - John Turner, Mike Tomkin and Christopher Mallett do a fantastic job of making a great gym environment where I feel welcome. I have used Chris Mallett as my PT and he has helped me a lot in learning new ways to train, which I still use. Great job all and brilliant gym.

Fantastic experience: In love with this Gym, after long long long time of me NOT working out, choosing Anytime Fitness gym in Welwyn Garden City was the best choice I ever made in making a come back. The trainers are wonderfully welcoming and supportive, very friendly and approachable. Gym is fairly clean and tidy. I just feel motivated and always looking forward to my next visit.

Fantastic experience: Great people working there. Very helpful. The gym is very clean. All the machines work which is a bonus. Plenty of services, classes, one on ones and much more. Membership is very reasonable and the gym being in the middle of Welwyn Garden City, you are surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants to enjoy after a workout.

Fantastic experience: Before joining AFWGC, I wasn't a gym go-er at all, and found them quite an intimidating place. But Anytime is the complete opposite. I genuinely look forward to my gym session, great atmosphere and really helpful staff. John made me feel welcome from the moment I walked through the door & Mike set me up with a 6 week plan that really helped me kick-start my gym journey. Couldn't recommend this gym any more!

Fantastic experience: Very good gym, and excellently located bang in the middle of town. Has basically everything you need but the real selling point of the gym are the friendly, welcoming, and helpful staff. I have been particularly impressed with Mike who is an absolute dude - accommodating, kind and always willing to go the extra mile to suit your needs. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: The best gym in Welwyn with a non judgemental environment, Great equipment, clean facilities and amazing staff. Without naming names I've been to other gyms that simply cannot compete. John and Mike are so friendly and go the extra mile on each visit and are happy to help with any enquiries.

Fantastic experience: Having not been to the gym in about 18months, I’ve returned to find two new members of the great team. The staff and other members are all very welcoming, supportive and non-judgemental. A particular thank you goes to Felicia, who has gone above and beyond to help me; spending time to check technique, discuss diet and generally encourage and push. She (and the others) make me want to keep going back - even though it feels like hard work when there. I’m really looking forward to attending classes and getting more involved in the community - and of course to feeling fitter. The space, equipment and cleanliness are also really good - if you’re debating whether to join I really suggest popping in and experiencing it for yourself.

Fantastic experience: A great gym! Really good facilities and a nice range of equipment. I have noticed that equipment gets upgraded and swapped regularly as well which keeps my workouts fresh. The staff and all involved are brilliant, always got a smile and time to talk. I have noticed the club do a lot of charity work which is also fantastic. It is a really exciting gym to go to, they have created a great atmosphere and are welcoming to all experience levels. I couldn't recommend this gym enough. Great location, affordable price and great facilities. The gym is living up to its name as the best gym in town

By far the best gym I've been to with all the equipment you would need for serious gym goers aswell as having a friendly atmosphere that is welcoming of new members. The staff are fantastic who always offer a helping hand and are super friendly.

I was apprehensive as I'm no gym bunny, however it is the most unpretentious gym and not at all intimidating. Staff are knowledgeable and it offers great value for money. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Having recently moved to area, this was the easiest choice to make joining Anytime. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the first query we had. You’re always greeted with a hello as you walk in and the staff are there if needed. Plenty of space and good equipment makes every trip very enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: Joined the gym in October 2021 when moving to the area and signed up for a whole year in one go. From day one of first looking round you are made to feel special. Staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, approachable but more importantly for me very proactive in reaching out. All the staff can build a killer programme if you want it or just a few tips. Would recommend everyone joins who is considering it.

Fantastic experience: 5 out of 7 stars for Howard. I don't even know who Howard was. Ahh the gym yes of course!! Never disliked Anytime fitness. This branch's outer entrance (mall doors) is shut between 2.30-4.00 am in case you wanna use your sledgehammer for the corridors or waste away with the inhospitable wifi. Was good while I used it , always nights/after hours.Very very veeeery helpful overall to have access Nationwide and in Europe when traveling or relocating - changing houses - need a private point to get a break and advance.

I've always been nervous and intimidated by gyms but this one has such a lovely atmosphere and everyone is super friendly. I've had the pleasure of PTing out of this gym and it's made me fall in love with training, cannot wait for it to open after lockdown!

Fantastic experience: Anytime Fitness Welwyn Garden City is simply the best! The staff are exceptional and the loveliest team of people, who are friendly and knowledgeable, giving their expertise freely. The membership is great value for money with classes included, enjoy bums & tums, Pilates or boxing, to name a few, there really is something for everyone. You can train at your own pace with the virtual classes or if you need some extra motivation, the trainers are fantastic. The gym is open 24 hours which is great if you just want to pop in for half hour and the fact that you can park in the Howard Centre FREE for 3 hours is a big bonus. So, anytime you visit the town even if you’re not training, you can validate your car park ticket in the gym and have free parking! Signing up was the best decision I made and I highly recommend this gym.

Been going here for 3 years and it is continually improving with the range of equipment, classes and benefits available to members. I have never had to queue to use equipment and enjoy doing my own routines but knowing that help and advice is on hand and should I wish structured training in a group or one to one. Fantastic experience: Great gym in a fantastic location. Located inside the Howard Centre in Welwyn Garden City which is very easy to get to and you get 2 hours free parking in the Howard Centre car park. Very friendly staff, clean facilities and generally not too busy; I've always been able to get a go the equipment I'm after without having to wait. Anytime Fitness Welwyn Garden City also has great membership perks with 10%+ off if you show your key fob to the places they have listed on the blackboard in the gym.

Negative experience: Very unhelpful staff. The manager was meant to call back due to them taking a payment when they were not supposed to yet the manager is the only person with authorisation to do a refund and has been in for 2 days yet hasn't contacted me. Poor service!
