Fantastic experience: Great gym, and I’ve been to many. All those negative reviews have been addressed, and to be honest they didn’t even have to be. The people moaning probably had bad physiques and were looking for something to blame it on. I liked the old equipment and I like the new stuff too. The owner went above and beyond to answer the reviews on google. I hope you’re all happy and can now achieve the physiques you wanted to without any excuses.

Positive experience: Old school gym, good equipment, friendly staff and competitive prices. Recommend, I have used it on an ad-hoc basis using “day passes” when I have been in the area.

Fantastic experience: Soon as you walk in , you’re greeted with a big smile from Tracey , she makes you feel very comfortable and safe in the gym , and she’s happy to have a chat which is nice . Machines are really good , hit every muscle from every angle possible lol . Tidy and clean gym , can’t fault it . If you’re in the Tooting area , deffo get a session in there .

Fantastic experience: Honestly one of the best gyms around. No egos, friendly environment and has all of the equipment you need. You don’t need chain gyms when you have this fantastic, independent family run gym!

Fantastic experience: Lovely place. Great machines. SUPER clean, everyone puts the weights back, mma and boxing ring upstairs.

Negative experience: The gym has it's plus points like the back machines but it severely lacks in others. For example, the lack of a Prime lying hamstring curl. The treadmills could do with a referesh as they're old. Other points to note - some of the machines don't seem to be ever used as take up massive space. The white row machine, lying leg press all could be sold if it was me. I get the ab machine is upstairs but do not understand how they expect people to carry big heavy dumbells up to use on the hyperextension bench. No wifi and one of the toilets has not been working for ages. At least for now it seems they have sorted out the opening times in terms of opening on time as opposed to 30 mins late a few times. However 9AM on weekends is far too late - there is a 24 hour gym down the road. Other gyms in Mitcham open earlier on weekends for example.

Fantastic experience: Regarding the Johnny Tate review. Probably helps you don’t operate the hack squat machine and load it with weight when it has a big red poster on it saying “DONT USE” The fact I had to shout at the gym owner Tracy to stop you from using is enough. If you’re actually about lifting weights and enjoy a friendly atmosphere there’s nothing better.

Negative experience: I worked out here for around 6 weeks, tonight was my last time: good equipment for lifting but most of it very old and about to break. Overall awful gym: no heating so you're freezing in the winter when you work out, no water fountains, the changing rooms look like a residue from the Cold War Era, showers look dodgy, short opening hours, the owner is unfriendly and will berate you for the smallest thing. save your money and go elsewhere

Best equipment around - carefully chosen machines for each body part: cybex, prime (strive too), body max etc…Brilliant cardio section + great training for MMA and boxers. Perfect for all levels but serious bodybuilders can expect to get this most out of this gym. Benefits for members is underrated - free MMA sessions, bring a friend friday offerings. Love yorkys ❤️

Fantastic experience: Took a friend of mine to her first ever real gym experience and can’t thank Tracey-Ann enough for her welcoming and conversation. If you love a gym with all the best pieces of equipment a gym can offer and a phenomenal gym etiquette then this is the gym to try.

Fantastic experience: I've been there a couple of times for Muaythai, and the teaching was really good. The instructor corrected some mistakes I made during the session, so I learned and developed my Muaythai skills. I will definitely go there again. Do recommend!

Fantastic experience: Amazing Tooting gym! I've been going since moving to the area 3 years ago and wouldn't go anywhere else. Commercial gyms can been busy, untidy and lack equipment. Yorky's has welcoming staff, friendly members and a wide range of equipment - all for a great price! Tracey and the family put their heart and soul into it and it shows.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic local gym, have been going for over two years now. Great selection and variety of equipment you won’t find in commercial gyms, some a bit older but some are brand new. It may look bodybuilding focused on the surface but the atmosphere welcomes in people from all walks of life. It’s got a really good family vibe. In fact the owner Tracey lent out equipment whilst gyms were forced to close during the pandemic, she really looks after her members!!!

Fantastic experience: If you are stopping by in the area and you need a gym for a quick work out - Yorkys is a must. If you live close by and you need a gym to sign up to - Yorkys is a must. If you are wanting to fall in love with fitness, improve your fitness and feel motivated whilst in the gym - Yorkys is a must. Tracey-ann is friendly, knowledgeable, charismatic and beyond welcoming. These are all invaluable traits to have as a business owner, particularly within the fitness industry. If you need help with your form whilst you're working out, Tracey-ann will be there to assist you - she has a wealth of expertise that she is always happy to share. The gym itself has great equipment, miles better than chain gyms like PureGym and there is never a long wait to use it either. Yorkys also has plenty great quality free weights and unlike any other gym, Yorkys is kept perfectly clean - the health and safety of their members is a paramount consideration. If weights aren't your thing, there is a large upstairs full of various cardio machines and a second large room with boxing/fighting equipment. You can also do abs, stretches and plyometric workouts in there too. Members at Yorkys gym are all respectful to one another and abide by unspoken gym etiquette, putting back weights after use and cleaning down the machines where necessary too. Yorkys is a pleasure to work out at - the member's care and not only is it a breath of fresh air to work out amongst people who are actually dedicated to fitness, it is also very motivating. As a woman, I have never felt uncomfortable working out here. If you are a woman and you are second guessing attending the gym because of its body-building nature, I can assure you that you will feel incredibly safe! The general ethos and vibe at Yorkys is unmatched in comparison to any other gym I've been to, and this is down to Tracey-ann, her son Taijon and her members. I would highly recommend Yorkys Gym to anyone.

Fantastic experience: My friend and I decided to step up our exercising and started to look at gyms in our local area. Then we literally stumbled on Yorkys, a Body Building Gym how was this going to work for us novices. The first time we were a bag of nerves, but nearly 5 years on best decision ever made. (my friend no longer attends due to family commitments). Gone from training every other day to 5 sometimes 6 days a week. The staff are fantastic and nothing is to much trouble. As for the owners Tracey Ann and Taijon I want to say a big big thank you to both. Tracey you have helped me achieve my fitness goals, and training with you every night for free is a blessing thank you. You're the best. Yorkys really is like a second home for me. I also want to give a shout out to all the members,a friendly bunch always with a smile and a wave. The equipment is the best. Just ask the members.

Negative experience: Good Cybex hack and leg extension. Needs new cable machines. The one near the free weights is about to break anytime soon The wide cable stack is so old and battered. As many have mentioned they need new cables. It’s one of the most important things in a gym People can overlook the worn treadmills given it’s a physique gym but good cable machines is a must. There are certain gyms to aspire to, for example Kings Gym Croydon, Physique Warehouse in Surrey, Ultraflex I get that it’s expensive but if improvements aren’t made it doesn’t reflect well to members of the gym

Negative experience: Great gym with great facilities.. however customer service poor and the owner can be on and off. She is very rude at times and will even ignore a simple "hello" or make a simple transaction like asking to buy a protein bar seem like you are committing a sin.

Fantastic experience: A ridiculously fantastic gem of a gym. To call this an excellent gym is a gross understatement- it is in my opinion among the elite gyms of London. The equipment is hand picked and chosen with thoughtfulness, care, and above all EXPERIENCE. Every piece is in the gym for a reason. From Cybex to Prime, Yorky’s has the best for every body part, including extremely rare strive kit that is utter perfection The gym has an excellent atmosphere - despite the great equipment and hard training it fosters, there is no arrogance here. Members are kind, friendly, respectful and above all hard working- the gym is free from meatheads or idiots. Tracey-Ann and Taijon have cultivated something very special through their hard work and graft - a proper gym that maintains a welcoming atmosphere. Whilst I know little of boxing training, the facilities for martial arts are similarly superb. As a member, you notice genuine care put into the gym - new bars here, multiple new punching bags there. This gym is without doubt worthy of the title of “hidden gem”- as someone who has trained all over I would say it is one of the best in the entire nation. Local businesses that genuinely care for their clientele are becoming rarer and rarer these days - Yorky’s gym is without question a shining example of what family run business can and should be- and a real bright spot in Tooting. I will be back tomorrow, hungry for more, and the day after that. If you’re looking for a gym with top notch equipment, great atmosphere and second to none ownership- you’ve found a new home.

Fantastic experience: Been to gyms up and down the country and Yorkys is by far my favourite. Equipment is some of the best around (prime, cybex and nautilus machines) and the dumbbells are nice and heavy.

Fantastic experience: Bought a day pass, and then signed up to a month straight after the first session! Fantastic equipment, friendly and helpful staff and very reasonable prices given the range and variety of machines. Couldn’t recommend higher!

Negative experience: It’s a good gym for legs but I’m confused with their recent update. Can you not just replace the current cable stack with the Cybex for one you’ve ordered? The barbells are also bending which need to be replaced. Glute ham raise bench needs to be brought down from the first floor as those who want to use plates to add weight cannot carry it up the stairs It does seem like the pushing back on timeline of the cable stack is a little suspicious. Presuming when delivered it can easily fit in the space the current stack is given it’s smaller… The white cable row machine currently near the lat pulldown (which is also very clunky) never gets used. Not sure why this cannot be removed/replaced with a newer version If you really do want to compete with the likes of Crayford weights and fitness, Muscleworks, Kings Gym, Physique Warehouse these changes are a must.

Fantastic experience: I've been training here for a few weeks whilst I'm in London. The staff are really friendly and they make you feel welcome. There's a good selection of equipment and everything is kept really clean. I'll definitely be returning to Yorkys whenever I'm in London!

Positive experience: Pros: Old school, bodybuilding gym, good atmosphere and vibes and lots of the members are very helpful and friendly. Family run and staff are helpful. Most machines are quality particularly the equipment for back and legs. Boxing space is one of the top features, with good coaches for kickboxing and boxing which I can vouch for and who make you feel welcome as a beginner. The space itself is mostly free during weekdays during the day and you can put on some music and just let out your anger/stress on the bags- very cathartic. One female PT in particular is amazing, so friendly and approachable! Cons: Changing rooms/toilets need work, as in they are just very small and no space for more than a couple people in, especially as some of the guys at this gym are big guys. Some of the bars are bent and bench press benches need repair. One of the female staff members (not the owner) is quite passive aggressive/confrontational when you just want to enter/get a locker or a protein shake. I think overall the reception desk adds a personal touch, but when this one staff member is present my heart sinks a bit as I'm on edge about her being rude for no reason. Not the most welcoming and can put me in a bad headspace for my workout.

Always kept clean & tidy & the staff are all super friendly, you really feel part of the family. I am a member & will be for many years to come!

Negative experience: Rude staff (one woman in particular), thought I would give it a try as the commercial gyms in Tooting are rubbish but this isn’t much better! Terrible bench equipment (both of them), only one stiff bar and no SSB!! On top of that we can’t use chalk so therefore we must always use straps…can’t strengthen my grip that way!!! Not the greatest by any stretch but the best out of a bad bunch in Tooting/Wandsworth!!

Positive experience: Good gym but it's missing a vital piece of equipment - a Cybex Bravo cable stack or at least a small width ( not weight) cable stack. It's easier to do movements such as seated flys for example or cuffed lateral raises. Additionally it would be nice to have a Nautilus nitro Lat pulldown. The handles on these are great to specifically target the Lat. Have you looked into making it 24hrs and members entering through fingerprints/fobs? This would be so useful.

Fantastic experience: Trained here a few months ago- the equipment is first class and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. Genuinely one of the best gyms I’ve been to!

Fantastic experience: Everything you could need under one roof - have joined for the month initially but will be joining for the year on the 4th.

Negative experience: Myself and my boyfriend trained at this gym a few times as uni students through the Hussle app, which grants a one off day pass for £4.50. This was ideal, since the gym was in very close proximity to where I was living at the time, and the Hussle pass worked well for us as we were broke and busy uni students trying to fit in a workout wherever possible. The first few times we trained there there were no problems, and my boyfriend had previously trained in this gym and liked the equipment they had to offer. Unfortunately after this, we had a few negative experiences and never returned. Due to Covid, this gym was extremely stringent on wiping equipment down after every use, which is completely fair. We did our best to wipe down equipment, and put away plates and bars after every use but we are all human and once or twice we *accidentally* forgot to wipe down equipment or put equipment away, but no more than that. These actions were not intentional, and as conscientious gym goers we never maliciously left equipment out or purposely did not wipe down equipment. The first couple of times this happened we were approached by the gym owner, then another staff member and asked to go back and wipe down our equipment which we had no problem with. However, the next and last time we trained in this gym the gym owner approached us and explained that a member of staff and members of the gym had spoken to her saying we had not been wiping down equipment, and if we continued not to wipe down equipment we would be asked not to return to this gym. We were blindsided by this unnecessary caution, and thought it completely unfair. We had already spoken to a member of staff previously and settled things before, only to be almost threatened again, after the incidents had already happened. I have never been spoken to like this in any gym, and found the whole interaction extremely rude and unwelcoming. We are not sure whether it was because we were not full members and only used the Hussle passes, but the staff members at this gym definitely seemed to have a problem with us. We will not be returning to this gym, and would not recommend it if you are looking for somewhere with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Best gym, the gym family at Yorkys makes you feel included, and if you really looking to work out this is the place to go. Motivation is a on going thing at Yorkys.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member of this gym for nearly 2 months now and can honestly say it's one of the best gym's in London. Tracey and the team do an immense job. They are super welcoming and ensure the gym is a place you want to return too and train hard. Great atmosphere and I couldn't recommend enough. If you're in South London and need somewhere to train, Yorkys is the one.

Fantastic experience: Despite the name, this is not a place for small dogs to train. Very disappointing for my small terrier who wanted to bulk up over the winter months. However, as a gym for the Homo sapiens variety, it would be fine.

Fantastic experience: Went to the boxing fitness class yesterday, will definitely go back. I was a bit nervous about going because I've never been to a gym/ class and thought I might be the only woman there but everyone was seriously friendly and I didn't feel intimidated at all and there were loads of women. I could go at my own pace but was encouraged to push myself. It's a really welcoming place, everyone should go!

Positive experience: Cool gym. Decent equipment and not too busy but the showers have a serious stink that has kept me from returning so far. If you don't need a shower after the gym this is the best option in tooting.

Fantastic experience: Incredible space, can't recommend enough if you're new to the gym, a pro bodybuilder or whatever - you'll enjoy it. Really well equipped, family run gym and tracy and her son couldn't be better staff. Good community there, no huge egos walking around slamming weights, and not packed like most commercial gyms in the area. Maybe my only point of criticism is that it'd be good to have a water station inside the main gym.

Fantastic experience: I’ve trained at this gym many times and also been a PT client of the owner Tracey. This gym just gets better and better each time I revisit or check them out on social media. Yes it’s got an old school vibe, yes allot of the members take their training seriously but honestly after working in huge commercial gyms the crowd in Yorkys is one of the nicest I’ve encountered. The members show respect for the gym and respect for the other members. Tracey the owner is friendly, knowledgeable and treats the members like family. It’s a rare find Yorkys amongst the endless number of commercial chains, not many gyms where you can speak with the owner directly. Looking forward to getting back for another session soon

Fantastic experience: I thought gyms like this didn't exist anymore, proper old school gyms where people go to train and the lycra crowd are non existent. Tracy was helpful up front, £ 5 for a one off was great value. Music in the gym was good so no need to use my phones. I'd love to see some old school posters of Stallone, Arnold and Dorian Yates all over the walls. Everyone was putting their weights back, nice to see.

Negative experience: I had a pretty bad experience at this gym. It was recommended to me by a friend but when I arrived the welcoming was not friendly all. The manager actually ended up yelling at me and then decided to charge me twice the normal entry fee (which I only realised when I checked the website). It is ashame as I was looking for a local boxing gym but i havnt returned since my experience which left me confused, stressed and upset to be honest.

Fantastic experience: I come here for a casual workout for 5 pound. Very good price and has all of the basic equipment that you need in order to get things done. Friendly staff also.
