Negative experience: Booking system is broken. To start with it is impossible to find any availability for badminton courts, if you lucky and manage to get it be prepared to get told of it’s cancelled at reception just couple of minutes before your session. Unfortunately, this was my only second session at Derby Uni SC but was enough to put me off just because of the struggles to find slot and then you see NO just before the session. Not many options in Derby so have to go again here.

Negative experience: To study here is the best that you can think of.

Negative experience: Used for squash courts. - Courts are not enclosed meaning the ball often gets lost. - staff are slow and uninterested (Both in person and over the phone). - The booking system is bad, not enough flexibility and you cannot cancel. Can only rearrange by having to call and endure the staff.

Positive experience: The gym itself is good value with a good range of equipment, but as someone else mentioned you can’t park until after 4:30 unless you’re a student. This means there’s a very small window that you can actually use the equipment before the after work rush hits around 5. Other gyms provide a parking pass for paying members which would help, and if they’re worried about people using the uni car park to go to markeaton etc then maybe connect the pass being valid to checking into the gym or something

Positive experience: The facilities were managed with Nuffield and hosts the latest Gym Tech equipment and the classes led by great staff members with all the necessary experience to help you get to your fitness goals. The use of the sports hall is also great for basketball and badminton, the sports centre is centred around the students and staff, so outside member ship may not be available.

Negative experience: Would have been a great facility, but hosting under 7s football at night when the floodlights had failed. No attempt to provide an early warning or any member of staff to communicate or apologise, just left to the coaches who were powerless to do anything.

Positive experience: University gym with competitve prices and very convenient for keddleston road students. Gets busy later on in the day, however going in early its usually pretty empty and won't have much trouble using the machines or weights you need. Friendly and helpful staff who're normally around if you need help, many modern fitness machines, with programs to assist people on certain gym plans. Only has one set of each dumbbell weights which is very inconvenient during busier periods, similar to the weight machines having only one of each results in waiting. New card system is a bit of a hassle as it requires a card to be carried, and if you need a toilet break or need to grab something have to scan through each time. Avoiding busy times its a good gym and easily accessible, any of the uni busses also have the option of stopping right outside of the gym which is also convenient.

Fantastic experience: Very up to date facilities which are quite motivating while exercising. The equipment are fitted with social media tools which help take your mind away from the exercise. The staff were friendly too especially one of the personal trainers called Dan who was very helpful on my first day at the gym

Positive experience: A good range of equipment. Can be busy during term time. Classes are at odd times, probably to suit students. A new card entry system is a pain as you need to take your card into the gym, mine keeps ending up in the laundry and I forget it the next time and have to be allowed in by the stroppy attendant. Reasonably priced. Free parking after 16.30 only during the week. No pool.
