Passford House Hotel

Fantastic experience: We stayed overnight earlier this month and it was lovely! The view was stunning and staff were nice and attentive. We got a fantastic massage and had a scrumptious dinner! Lots of gluten free options which was much appreciated! My only suggestion of improvement would be breakfast. Limited gluten free options, and the ones available are close to options with gluten, so increases the risk of cross contamination - for example, bacon and sausages close to each other (I was told sausages were not gluten free, which could also be easily amended). Overall, it was a great stay and we would love to come back!

Fantastic experience: With a 2 year old in tow, and not wanting to brave a trip abroad, this year we decided to book the Stable Suite at Passford House Hotel for a 10-night stay, offering self-accomodation with unlimited access to their onsite swimming pool, in a great location in the New Forest. We weren't disappointed. The Stable Suite was a lot bigger than expected, and had everything we needed for the three of us to enjoy time to ourselves, as well as to have a dip in the pool when we fancied, and to head to some of the local must-see destinations for kids. The hotel itself has kept it's oldy-worldy charm, and it's was great to read a bit about the history of the house itself (no spoliers here!). We particularly enjoyed the effort the team had made to bring Halloween to life - the witch and the 'big spider' particular thrilled our little one ... and the cake and coffee was yum. We didn't stay in the hotel or eat in the restaurant, so can't comment on these areas . But would recommend the Stable Suite as a great location for anyone looking to have a relaxing and uninterrupted break!

Fantastic experience: We were a group of seven people, of varying ages, staying for a combination of social time and a business meeting. We have stayed in previous years and were happy to return to this lovely, slightly quirky hotel, set in beautiful, relaxed surroundings. The rooms were all good as was the quality of sleep in such quiet surroundings. The evening dinner, although a limited menu, was actually a very good standard, as was breakfast the next day. The meeting room was an ideal size (there is also a much larger room available), equipped exactly as requested and with a lovely outlook over the beautiful gardens. The staff could not have been more helpful and a special thank you to Daniel who looked after our booking from the start, you and the whole team deserve recognition for making our stay special. We will certainly be returning. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I stayed at the weekend and the whole time I was there I felt I was in haven. Dog friendly was second to none. The staff was all bending over backwards to make sure all 12 of us had a good time. And the food was delicious. Thank you, Sharon and Daniel, for your hard work putting this together.

Positive experience: very pleasant stay, the staff were super friendly, decor in restaurant and rooms needs a bit of updating. Showers walk in would be nice and with decent pressure. Heather a very unique and friendly character if you need a massage. Lovely gardens. I have learnt my lesson, book with hotel direct not booking.com could have saved a bob or two.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic stay, the grounds were well kept and peaceful. Our rooms were clean and spacious, The breakfasts delicious with a wide choice available. Staff were helpful and informative. Both pools were delightful and although a little cool the children had a great time. Dinners were delicious my only wish was a wider choice for those who stay a week or more. We look forward to returning in the future.

Positive experience: Had yet another lovely stay at this family run hotel. I have visited many times now just for that short break. In the winter to sit by the open fires and in summer to enjoy the grounds. Without exception the staff are polite and helpful. I think the owner and leadership team must consider customer service as a very important part of our experience. Of course there are very small details that could improve a visit but where doesn’t .

Fantastic experience: Such a lovely location in the New Forest! Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The indoor pool and sauna and the outdoor heated pool were an added bonus to our stay away! Gorgeous grounds and gardens and breakfast was delicious.

Positive experience: We went to celebrate my birthday. Booked a four posted room as this had a separate walk-in shower. The shower outlet was blocked and we found ourselves having to stand in 6” of dirty increasing cold water. Although reported to reception nothing was done until the morning of our departure. We were moved around the dining room even though we had been told that we should have the same table for the duration of our stay. We shall not return Angela Milne

Fantastic experience: We had a superb one night midweek stay. The building is olde worlde charming, the room we had was huge with some really nice touches, the staff and service are super friendly and the food is top class. It punches well above its weight overall for very sensible rates.

Positive experience: We had high hopes from the previous reviews but it didn't really live up to them. Felt a bit like stepping into a retirement home. And the sauna looks like its permanently out of order although there's no mention of that when you book... So that's quite disappointing and misleading. Also the jacuzzi has been hastily renamed to a dipping pool presumably because they don't want to fix it On the other hand the staff are very nice and the location is very pretty, croquet on the lawn is great

Fantastic experience: Lovely, quaint hotel with large rooms which feels quite historic. Extremely peaceful with lovely gardens, an indoor and outdoor pool, a tennis court, putting area and crochet. The staff are simply fabulous - polite & helpful. The food was lovely, well presented and hot and there is a lovely bar with an open fire, with other lounges for reading and playing games. Excellent for a quiet, relaxing break.

The were always there to help whether it was with the vegetarian breakfast or use of the facilities after check out. Fantastic experience: We recently stayed at Passford House Hotel for a weekend to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. We were delighted with the care taken with the detail of the arrangements, the excellent food, the friendly welcome and helpful approach of all concerned and the desire for us to enjoy our stay. It's a lovely location, the rooms and facilities were just what was wanted for all 4 generations - all 23 family members and dog had a lovely time!

Fantastic experience: We stayed one night at the self catering accommodation at the Passford House Hotel. 3 adults, 1 teen and 2 small dogs. The hotel is in Sway a short drive to the new forest and the coast. The hotel is wonderful with plenty of amenities such as a tennis court, (racquets and balls available on site), indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The staff are attentive and very welcoming. The grounds are stunning, with plenty of outdoor seating areas and gentle walking paths. We loved staying at the Passford and will definitely be back. Thank you so much for an incredible stay.

Positive experience: Great hotel with stunning gardens, the facilities were great too. Marked for 3 star as the room smelt musty and there were a fair few dusty cobwebs. The bed was comfortable and clean though. Don't expect any phone signal or WiFi though, best I managed was 1 bar of WiFi in the bar area.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely beautiful country hotel, with a pretty exterior and rooms, and a stunning garden and grounds to walk around. Staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. Nice indoor pool and sauna, and a great breakfast too.

Fantastic experience: Had an absolute amazing, relaxing, cosy 3 night stay here. We will return! Perfect for the New Forest,. Lymington and Lyndhurst Hotel had 2 lovely lounge areas both with fires and 1 bar area with seating and a fire! Staff ALL lovely! We were taken care off from the minute we arrived til the time we left. We booked a four poster room..stunning, roll top bath in bedroom! Wonderful, great size shower and toilet in separate bathroom. Kettle AND coffee maker! We swam each morning and enjoyed the sauna too Gardens are wonderfully kept and in good form!

Fantastic experience: A lovely Traditional Hotel in The New Forest We booked a surprise birthday and overnight accomodation stay here for family and friends.. Daniel who coordinated the event, was professional and a great help in keeping the party a surprise for my husband. The food at dinner was excellent and we were all very well looked after by the wonderful staff. A special thank you to Geoff and the staff who took care of the canapes and champagne. This is a traditional country hotel that has maintained high standards of service. The bedrooms are beautiful very with high standards cleanliness and contain everything you need and more, not often the case in many modern 4 or 5 star hotels . The room was beautiful with a four-poster bed and views over the gardens. The bathroom very large with a huge bath and separate shower cubicle.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service! Staff are very accommodating, especially if you have special needs children. I can't find any fault. The atmosphere is relaxing, just what you need for a break. Surrounded by green, it's like a postcard...

Positive experience: We were invited to join friends for a meal, so haven't stayed here. It's in a fairly remote location, which means travelling down country lanes. That's no fun in the winter, with lots of water on the roads! However, when we got there, the service, food and ambience was lovely and we have no complaints. Indeed we would recommend the restaurant for lovely food, beautifully served by an attentive waitress.

Fantastic experience: Booked in last minute and so pleased we did. Real little gem, slightly outside the main towns which gives the quiet serenity of the setting but close enough to be in Lymington/Brockenhurst in 5 mins. Staff were so friendly, calm and professional and are a real credit to the hotel. The garden’s are stunning, words can’t do them justice….just stunning. Lots of little kind and thoughtful touches which mark this hotel out. When we were there it was Halloween and we stumbled by accident on a little hidden Halloween den with toys and crafts for the kids, just amazing. Ate dinner and breakfast here and both were really good. Rooms may, for some, require some updating but this really didn’t bother us. If you like a classic hotel feel this is the place to go. We’ll be back.

Fantastic experience: A night's stay Passford House Hotel We were looking for a dog friendly place to stay and found this lovely family run Country Hotel. We were allocated a room at the back of the hotel which leads out to their beautiful grounds and garden. They charge £30 per dog per night. But managed to negotiate it for the two dogs. For the dogs you get some biscuits and bowls. No bed unlike other places. We weren't planning on having dinner but how could we not? You have to pre-order. Starters Tempura King Prawns with a nice tasty Asian slaw. £8.75 Pan fried Scallops £10.25 Mains Pan fried Ribeye £22.50 Wild Mushroom Rissotto £17.00 Putting it politely, these were a bit of a let down unfortunately Didn't have desserts and decided to have liquor coffees in the bar instead. Fantastic experience: A really enjoyable extended family weekend away, following the two years constraints of the Covid Pandemic, mainly due to the friendliness and helpfulness of all staff, combined with excellent standards of cleanliness and housekeeping. The owner is a frequent presence and a fount of historical and local knowledge, while the gardens surrouding the hotel are a joy, both to wander in, or to rest and enjoy the peace and tranquility they offer. Our meals were delicious, very attractively served with complementary wines and the dining room is one of the most attractive hotel dining rooms I have eaten in, with ambient lighting and fresh flowers on each table. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a superior room, a real treat, but all members of the party were very happy with their allocated accommodation, particularly their personalised boxes of shortbread. A huge "thank you" to Ian, Daniel and all the staff, too numerous to be named individually but greatly appreciated none the less, and we look forward to repeating the experience again one of these days. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: We have just spent 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) at this amazing hotel. It's so nice to stay at an independent hotel that has such high standards. The staff are friendly, attentive and really care about the guests. We loved our stay and will be back. To the chap looking after 40 chickens, you were great.

Positive experience: Lovely 2 night stay recently and we were upgraded always a pleasant experience. Very comfortable bedroom and jn general the whole hotel is very cosy. Beautiful gardens, very peaceful and tranquil. Breakfast was buffet style...it was OK.. always think buffet style lacks something. We did have 1 evening meal which under current circumstances had to be preordered at breakfast...the meal was good but other guests informed us it was the same choice every night...fortunately we booked elsewhere for one of our evenings, even under current circumstances for a hotel of this calibre, same menu each evening without perhaps 1 special, would have been a disappointment if we had dined both evenings.....

Fantastic experience: Fantastic privately run hotel. Lovely room and fantastic meals. Garden and area around stunning. Strongly recommended.

Positive experience: There could be an argument as to whether this place is shabby chique or just shabby. It does vary from room to room and I can only speak for my room which bordered on the latter. It needed quite a lot of TLC. That said, the upkeep of this place must be enormous and we have been in challenging times. Beautiful gardens, outside pool and other spa facilities require a lot of work and it has to be paid for. The evening food was very good but a little predictable. Breakfast was pleasant but again nothing to make it memorable.

Fantastic experience: Once again we had the most amazing stay at this beautiful hotel. Our room had been recently decorated to a very high standard with every amenity one could wish for . As always the staff were friendly and most efficient , both in reception and the dining room. The food was of exceptional quality with a choice for everyone. We always so enjoy this jewel in the New Forest Crown . Well done Team Passford House!

Fantastic experience: Omg! I absolutely love this hotel! It was everything I wanted and more. It was so pretty. Situated right in the new forest, amazing! The gardens to the hotel, WOW! LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! I love Monet Garden, I could quit easily sit in the tree house for hours. The staff were all so amazing! Exllexct team. Everyone all so lovely and so helpful. The owner even toach me and my husband how to play croquet, lovely guy. He came up to us later and asked who won. BRILLIANT! I booked into have a massage. Heather was AMAZING, so bubbly, chatty and a lovely person to be around. She is so amazing at her job, omg she got rid of an old shoulder injury, My God, I had never felt so good after a massage. Love her! The food was delicious. Fine dining at it's best! I love this place, I'd definitely recommend coming here.

Fantastic experience: Superb stay including outstanding massage treatment. The Passford House Hotel more than surpassed expectations. The building is a great example from the arts and crafts era. The food (we had breakfast, lunch and dinner) was excellent and they more than ably catered for my vegan diet. The staff constantly bent over backwards to ensure our stay was amazing and top it off, I had easily one of the best massages I have ever had with Heather. A stay at Passford House is highly, highly recommended. Five stars well earned indeed!

Positive experience: Lovely setting and grounds service was good but breakfast was cold , room had no fridge or air conditioning. Our room was very hot which was not helped with a radiator that was not able to be turned off for one night. Dinner menu was not varied abd food was expensive.

Peaceful feeling here. Some rooms may be on the small side, and most residents are of advanced years, many of whom are regulars and command the best rooms.

Fantastic experience: This will be our 5th stay at Passford House and it never fails to delight and impress. Unlike other luxury hotels that change hands, change staff lose their charm PH is a constant. After a gap of 10 years we came last Xmas and it was like we'd never been away; even with some of the same members of staff. The decor is classic, timeless and kept in great condition. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The rooms are generous, spacious and beautifully appointed. The food is simply exquisite. The lounge and bar areas are relaxing and comfortable with open fires, wood panelling and copious art. Bags of character. Indoor and outdoor pools. Lovely grounds and a perfect location to visit the rest of the New Forest from. This Xmas the decorations look even better than last year and despite a pandemic happing outside, inside everything is socially distanced and Covid safe calm.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous mid week stay in-between lockdown's with my husband and 8 year old son. Within a few hours, we were totally relaxed having taken advantage of the indoor pool and sauna. Lovely comfortable bedrooms and relaxing lounges with gorgeous roaring fires. Highly recommend the food, which was stunning. Great location in the New Forest, with easy access to a spot of early Christmas shopping in Lymington. Left feeling completely revitalised - we will return. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: We were booked in on an autumn offer on 4th November, unfortunately due to lockdown we couldn't stay but went for dinner . It was up to its usual standard, we were both so disappointed we had to go home straight after . Looking forward to the time we can stay .
