Beckwith Health Club

Fantastic experience: Beckwith has a reputation for being Harrogate's friendliest gym - and it definitely lives up to it! I've been a member of many health clubs and gyms over the years and Beckwith is the first one I really look forward to going to. I am NOT a morning person - but somehow manage to make Katies 6.20am spin class whenever I can, and any of Sarah's classes are great. (SOULfusion is a treat... Lift IT is a challenge!) I'd recommend anyone of any age to come along and try it out. x

Fantastic experience: Just recently joined after Christmas myself first then my wife joined me, both love the club great team of coaches full of enthusiasm which shows soon as you step foot in the club , always have time to help & explain , we have done spin classes to rig circuit , to sole kick boxing , egym , weights and plenty of banter along the way. Definitely a good place to come to if you are thinking of joining a gym for the 1st time ! Great work Rik & team ! Nev jones

Fantastic experience: I was advised to join a gym by a physio and had no knowledge of what to do. I chose Bewckwith after looking at a few because they had a good range of equipment and classes and everyone seemed really friendly. The staff are really supportive and always willing to offer support and advice to help me make the most of what I can do. They offer a wide range of classes that are adaptable for all abilities and great fun. I would highly recommend Beckwith to anyone just starting out in their fitness journey.

Fantastic experience: By far the best gym in Harrogate. The staff are all amazing and so friendly and supportive and the range of equipment and classes are perfect. The classes are well structured and great fun. The instructors are amazing. I joined Beckwith as a complete beginner and had never had the confidence to go to a gym. Everyone made me feel so welcome and I love being part of the club. I have also just completed their Fat Loss Toolkit- a 12 week program that gives you the tools to manage diet and exercise for life. Great work Team Beckwith.

Fantastic experience: I joined Beckwith about 9 months ago have found it to be a very friendly place to be. I have always found going to gyms difficult but I am very happy here. The staff are amazing, always very welcoming. I have also just started doing some of the classes which are included in the membership, and have really enjoyed them. I would definitely recommend you give it a try.

Fantastic experience: This is a great gym. The staff are very friendly and approachable and always have a smile and hello when you walk in. I particularly love the classes that are on offer and the gym itself has everything you need. I think the membership is great value for money. The gym attracts a friendly crowd of people who aren’t cliquey, so for people like myself who struggles with confidence and motivation to go to the gym this certainly is a lovely place I genuinely enjoy going to.

Positive experience: I have been going to this gym on and off for the last 8 years primarily due to the convenience of work however it now needs money spending on it especially with the prices they now charge the members, the smell is pretty unbearable especially in the changing rooms which have never changed in the last 8 years the lockers are impossible to lock so have always had to leave valuables in my car. Also there is no phone signal in the gym and their WiFi has got pretty bad the last couple of months. All in all no longer value for money with what competitors can offer.

Fantastic experience: Beckwith Health Club is amazing. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable. The equipment and facilities are impeccably clean and modern. Definitely the most pro-active gym in the Harrogate area for disability needs. A wonderful experience!!

Fantastic experience: I have tried a number of gyms over the years and Beckwith is by far the friendliest. From the first time I arrived the staff and other gym users were so welcoming I felt at home strait away and have never looked back. They offer a wide range of classes to to suit all ages and abilities and the instructors are fantastic - think I attend all of Sara’s classes and love them all.

Fantastic experience: The best gym I've ever been a member of, it's got all the kit you need and the classes are mega! I do classes with Sara, James, Crystal and Miles. They're always changing and challenging, never boring. The instructors are brilliant at keeping en eye on you, giving advice and helping you progress. Beckwith Health definitely a community feel to it, this is so refreshing with the amount of faceless swipe-in swipe-out gyms that are opening up.

Fantastic experience: A great gym. Very down to earth and friendly. You feel supported, rather than judged. They offer a great number of classes, all included in the cost of your membership. Lots of choices at times to suit everyone, during the week & at weekend. Free parking too.

Fantastic experience: It took me many years to decide to join a gym and I am so glad I joined this one. The staff absolutely make this place with their warm welcome and fun and supportive approach regardless of what level you are. There are lots of classes to choose from and Sara’s classes have changed my outlook on exercise completely.

Fantastic experience: As someone who works from home in solitude, joining Beckwith Gym has changed my life. The classes are excellent - I’ve attended 5 to 6 classes a week (PiYo, Lift-IIT x 2, Full Body Burn, Pilates, Circuits) since January and it’s the best thing I’ve done. The instructors Sara, James, Miles, Liv) are truly excellent. Such a friendly, unpretentious gym and my stamina, fitness, strength and happiness, have improved exponentially.

Fantastic experience: Easily the best gym in Harrogate (and beyond!). Fantastic equipment, Staff and Management excellent - really personable and approachable without being invasive. The facilities are kept incredibly clean. Overall experience is fabulous. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: great gym, good range of equipment, it's the staff that really make it for me though - great bunch! They also share a handy recipe book with My Fitness Pal barcodes which are really useful.

Fantastic experience: I joined Beckwith Health Club in February this year. I have been really impressed by how friendly the place is. The classes are brilliant. In particular, I would like to thank Sara for her upbeat energy and the fun she brings, while making sure that you have a good workout. I was very impressed that she knew my name straight away and made me feel very welcome. I just wish that PIYO was on a different day to Wednesday's Lift It and Monday's Power Kettlebells, so that I could do them all, rather than having to choose. :-) I haven't tried the EGym equipment yet but that does look good and I hope to do so.

Fantastic experience: Beckwith is undoubtedly the friendliest gym in Harrogate. The staff are great and the gym is well-equipped, no matter what your fitness level is. I joined three years ago as a beginner and found the gym welcoming and the team helped me out creating a programme for me. There are loads of classes that are included in the subscription and there’s something for everyone. The gym opens early and there’s loads of free parking too.

Fantastic experience: I joined the gym 2 days ago, purely based on the reviews that I had read online. When I went to the gym yesterday for the first time, I was very pleased to find that all of the positive reviews were true! The staff are lovely; both friendly, and helpful. During these worrying times, it's so reassuring to know that the team at the club really are making every effort to keep us all safe. I was a little anxious about going back to a gym at this time, but what I like about this gym is that the team are abiding by careful guidelines: checking temperatures upon entry, providing individual disinfectant sprays for members to use on their machines for the duration of their session, distancing between areas and machines is in place, and doors are open to ensure fresh air is continually circulating. Members are invited to download an app for the the gym which allows careful monitoring of the number of members in the gym at any one time. Both members and staff can monitor the occupancy during session times, and therefore members have some self-control over choosing times when fewer people are in the gym. In addition to all of this, the gym is also nice and spacious, with all the equipment needed - PLUS parking is available if needed.

Positive experience: Equipment is falling apart in places but overall OK. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Positive experience: Great staff, all very friendly and welcoming, lots of cardio equipment and enough weight machines to get by however the free weights room is a bit of a let down. There are plenty of plates and dumbbells however half the bars are cheap (no ball bearings) and the knurling is too worn compared to the other half which are much newer with smooth bearings and good knurling. Another power rack is desperately needed, I can't count the number of times an independent personal trainer has had a client doing bodyweight inverted rows in the power rack when there is an entire Spartan rig perfect for exactly these exercises, meaning I've just had to leave out squats that day. The half rack, although great for overhead presses, rack pulls etc, really is not acceptable for squatting any substantial weight as the multiple racking hooks interfere with the bar. With an extra power rack or two, some replacement bars and possibly a lifting platform it would be a fantastic gym.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with Cybex cardio equipment and Technogym weight training machines. Additional dedicated heavy free weights area at back of changing rooms. Helpful, friendly staff; gym not too busy, free parking, clean changing rooms and gym floor. Highly recommended. Glad we came here.

Fantastic experience: A very friendly atmosphere. The staff are welcoming and offer knowledgeable and helpful advice when needed. Personally I love the classes they run, Spin, kettles, Pilates etc; I'm very pleased with choosing this gym.
