Negative experience: First time attending the gym today, for body tone class. The instructor was 10 minutes late. The other class members told me that this was a regular occurrence, and last week she didn't show up at all. She then stood leaning against the wall with her jacket on, just barking inaudible instructions, for most of the session. I had to follow the others to know what to do. The only (very rude) introduction was 'are you English' when I hesitated at first to figure out what was going on. I'd never used bar weights before. There was no safety/ health questions asked, no warm up, and as (she was leaning against the side doing nothing) no example provided of positioning/ how to correctly do the routine. She bullied another group member, spitefully saying they were 'wasting time not changing position quick enough'. Then proceeded to (quite angrily) say how the next part (on the pre-audio) was 'a completely stupid routine'. At which point I left the class. As that level of negativity is not nice. I've been a member of many gyms over the years, and never experienced an instructor just leaning against the wall with a coat on shouting. It was quite bizarre. The group members did say they thought she had some personal issues going on. I think JD Gyms need to monitor this unprofessionalism. As a duty of care for guests mental health. But also for physical safety. As no warm up, or engagement in demonstrating to the class safe positions and equipment use, is just asking for someone to get injured. I note others have reviewed this gym highly. So will try again. But it's a poor start. This instructor needs monitoring.

Positive experience: Goof gym , good equipment etc , great that it's 24/7 now but the one thing that let's it down is air condition doesn't work or needs to be turned on , occasionally feel a little breeze then nothing for 10 mins . Been a member for a couple of months but might after think about somewhere else . Only done a 2 mile run and absolutely soaked, ran good 5-7 miles at other gym .

Fantastic experience: First time at this gym but really impresses, lots of equipment and loads of space to work out. The changing room was clean, and showers were hot.

Positive experience: It is a good gym, I mainly use it when I’m off work / on nights with it now being 24hr as well as using my main gym (st***gh Ay**m) gym is good and well equipped only problem I’ve found compared to others is there aren’t enough plates to go around maybe needs a few plate racks for the benches etc, doesn’t seem be enough locking collars to go around always trying find them when using benches. Also shame changing rooms arnt open slightly later at weekends, only other gripe (which is the same at most commercial gyms) is too many groups congregating around equipment or sat messing about and playing with their phones whilst others are waiting for that piece of equipment but it’s a commercial gym and appreciate it’s more about numbers through the door then anything else. Never had this problem before probably due to being unmanned and 24hr so pros and cons I guess .

Positive experience: Good gym overall - no frills but always open, generally well equipped. Could use a freshen up of some of the older weights machines and an extra 10 sets of bar clips floating around.

Fantastic experience: Never had a problem here basic gym got what you need clean and friendly. p.s PLEASE DONT PUT THE HEATERS ON OR WE WILL BE PASSING OUT HALF WAY THROUGH THE SESSION.. IF UR ASKING FOR THE HEATING THAT MEANS YOUR NOT SWEATING, YOUR NOT WORKIN HARD ENOUGH WHICH MEANS YOUR BURNIN NO KCAL LOL PLZ NO HEATER!!!! IF U WANT TO SOCIALISE AND BE WARM JOIN A SWIMMING CLUB LOL

Fantastic experience: Great gym, very clean, and staff are helpful if you need them. Has loads of different types of equipment. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Today was my first day I came to this gym I see it say 24/7 and they locked changing room at 22:00 and my wallet and my jacket and my motorbike key stays there so I had to walk in rainy night from gym to hanley never again going back to this gym also I called emergency phone at gym and they said sorry we can't help you and when you try to cancel the membership it says will take 28 days to cancel and they will charge you 1 month extra for cancellation!!?

Negative experience: Honestly I am so disappointed with this gym,good they make it 24/7 now but I been to other JD gym in Newcastle and they dont lock the changing rooms at 10 am. You might say oh ok you can come tomorrow and get your stuff yes but my car key and all my wllet and ID card stuck there and next day I have to go work at 6 am and when you call emergency they just say oh sorry we cant help you

Positive experience: Lovely staff, amazing atmosphere, Great now it's 24hrs. Just a couple of negatives - there's the authentic running in the rain (alot of leaks). Getting out of the gym you need to generate another code which is slightly annoying - will probably get used to it tbf!

Fantastic experience: Good gym with plenty of equipment, nice and friendly environment and didn't feel self conscious as a newby.

Negative experience: Nice move to see this gym going to 24/7 opening time after a long time waiting but I don't see why the changing rooms n showers stops after 22:00 why we pay full price if the showers not working after 22:00? Confused

Fantastic experience: excellent value for money nice clean and friendly, staff are very helpful alot better than when it was exercise for less.

Positive experience: They actually need to turn on the heating, it's hard to get hold of the dumbbells because it’s so cold, also the machines need maintenance. Everything else is fine

Positive experience: I'm a relatively new member here. The staff are fantastic. Especially Elle. She's very helpful when I've asked about equipment and techniques, and her classes are very well prepared and delivered. The air con isn't great. It was cold outside last week, and the gym felt colder than the outside temperature. And then when it warmed up, the gym was hot. I'm not sure if there's an issue there. Plenty of equipment, and it appears well maintained. The changing room is spacious. Showers are clean. Toilets often have no loo roll. All in all 4/5 stars.

Positive experience: Heating needs to be on and the machines need greasing and servicing as they have seen better days. Also needs some bench seats to be flat as it can be abit of a “nut cracker” Apart from being cold and machines on the old side, it is clean, music isn’t blasting loudly and spacious.

Fantastic experience: First time there and what a FABULOUS FABULOUS gym, got to be the best I've ever been. Felt so relaxed going on my own. So many pieces of equipment that you wouldn't have to wait and it was quite busy, but because it's so big it didn't feel packed. Would definitely recommend

A good variety of classes to motivate you and a female only training area which is brilliant for those wanting more privacy. 10/10

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a few gyms in the stoke area and I can honestly say that there is only two gyms out of them all that I would say has extremely friendly staff and members, JD gym stoke is one of the two. Atmosphere is great, equipment is decent and caters to almost all training styles and disciplines. When ever any equipment is out of service it’s never out of service for long. I can’t comment on the classes as I’ve never been in any but the timetable has a decent selection of classes from what I have seen. It even has a women’s only section which I thought was great as they are catering to those with religous boundaries and those that have a lack of confidence in gyms. Highly recommend this gym to everyone.

Positive experience: It's a good gym, but there is a lot of equipment. Equipment that requires maintenance and they are not very quick at fixingthings. Someday, soon, someone will get hurt.

Fantastic experience: This was my 1st time going, I joined online so I didn't have any kind of induction, getting in was nice & simple using the app on my phone & it has a good feeling in regards to the atmosphere, it was quite busy given that it was a Bank Holiday but there was no waiting around for machines.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym. It tends to remain pretty quiet throughout the day, the times I've been. It's a time me and my daughter spend together getting into shape and toning our muscles.

Fantastic experience: * Large gym with a women's area. * Lots of equipment. * It's always clean. * The fees are also ok. * There are always a lot of people, which means that the gym is good.

Positive experience: Gym is OK, equipment is mostly good with some in need of updates or repairs. Temperature needs sorting though, may as well be an outdoor gym with the temperature being that cold in there! And the lights need adjusting, there are several machines that have the spotlights shining directly in your eyes when using them.

Positive experience: Very good gym, friendly staff. Hot showers good range of machines. Very clean. Only negative could do with a sauna.

Fantastic experience: This is the gym I joined but i use the new one in Newcastle aswell. I go at quiet times and mainly use rower and weights section, rowers are always free but weights they seem to need more weights around 14kg it was quiet and these were always out. But staff are really helpful, it's clean and the equipment's really good. Still loads of contraptions I have no idea what they do

Positive experience: First visit. Friendly, helpful. Nice feel to the gym. Different ages, abilities and fitness. Not full of posers.

Negative experience: All you need to do a workout but loads of bad points. The roof leaks when it’s raining bad. The equipment is very old from xersice4less days. The car park at 5pm is a nightmare. Desperate need of an update.

Positive experience: Not too bad but went for the women section and was disappointed. Only 6 machines ( treadmill x2, steps x2, rower and upper weights machine) and 2 benches as well as free weights. If you time it wrong you'll be waiting around for the machines.

Positive experience: Overall great. Tried out the PureGym on the other side of Fenton JD miles better only thing that Is a set back is the fact it’s not 24 hours

Negative experience: Don’t ever lose anything in here and think you’ll get it back. Had my Apple Watch stolen, could clearly see the CCTV but they did nothing. Good gym but don’t EVER lose anything and expect any help from them.

Fantastic experience: JD Gyms has a great atmosphere and the upgrade it received last year has made it even better. The gym is more spacious and the range of equipment is vast. The staff are polite, friendly and supportive. Notable mentions of staff including Assistant general manager Chloe, senior general manager Andy and PT Craig who always greet with a smile!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to JD Gym in stoke for nearly a year now it’s like my second home all the PT instructors are approachable and very helpful the managers are always out on the floor helping people and making sure your experience at JD Gym is the best. With the help from my PT I’ve lost 4stone he has given me so much confidence and I’m very comfortable going to the gym on my own all the classes are brilliant and you definitely get results. So Thanku to Andy Deakin, Paul and Chloe Fern assistant manager and Craig Lockett your all amazing and all very approachable you listen and you act on what we ask for and Chloe nothing is to much trouble you like to be involved on the floor you have even helped the cleaner keep the good standard of cleanliness members expect.

Fantastic experience: Best Gym in Stoke-On-Trent! Great equipment, atmosphere and really helpful PT’s. When I first joined JD Gym the assistant general manager was very helpful, she shown me around the gym and familiarised us with the equipment.

Fantastic experience: I was nervous about going the gym but I met the assistant general manager chloe and she put me at ease and made me feel very welcome. At my time at the gym I also noticed how she made sure her staff were happy and offerd her support and advice to them if it was needed. There is cleaning products around the building available to use before and after using each machine and hand sanitizer placed in various areas. I highly recommend this gym
