Positive experience: I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ramside Hall Spa for my wedding anniversary and wanted to share my honest review. Overall, it was a nice day, but there were a few areas that could use some improvement. Starting with the men's changing facilities, I was disappointed to find a lack of cleanliness. There were odd socks left behind, towels lying on the floors, and the overall condition of the facilities left something to be desired. It was not the most pleasant experience. On the positive side, the spa facilities themselves were good. However, they were also quite busy, and I felt that the spa should focus more on ensuring quality over quantity when it comes to managing the number of guests. It would have been more enjoyable if there were better measures in place to control the flow of people at certain times. Moving on to the dining experience, the food at the restaurant was good. I particularly enjoyed the pad Thai, dim sum, and edamame beans. However, the waiting staff lacked knowledge about the menu, which was a bit disappointing. It would have been great to receive more detailed information and recommendations about the dishes. Overall, it was a pleasant day for our wedding anniversary. However, for future visits, I would prefer a more romantic setting with greater attention to detail when it comes to the guests. It's the little things that can make a significant difference in creating a truly memorable experience. Note: This review reflects my personal experience and opinions, and others may have different perspectives.

Fantastic experience: Came here with two friends for the sparkling afternoon tea spa day, and really enjoyed the experience. We were given a welcome drink on arrival, shown the facilities and then had use of the spa from 9 until 2. The indoor pool is larger than most spas I've been to (25m) with lots of loungers around it and a hydration station which was well stocked with water and fresh fruit. There were two different types of steam room and two saunas, plus a large hydropool which definitely gives you a strong water massage with the various jacuzzi jets and sprays. The day includes use of the rasul mud room, which was a fun experience involving self applied salt scrub and mud followed by a steam session then a monsoon shower. Finally the day was completed with a beautiful Asian themed afternoon tea, beautifully presented savoury items followed by a delicious selection of sweet treats (my pic of the desserts below) and tea or coffee, served of course with a glass of prosecco as well. The whole spa and bar restaurant was clean and well maintained and staff were friendly and welcoming.

Negative experience: I visited the Spa last night for a Twilight session with my mum and Aunt for a special occasion. It does seem like the Spa is now overcrowded, a bit tired and in need of some listening from the owner/leaders. Perhaps they should look at their most recent reviews and how fast their brand is being damaged. I won’t be returning, even for a meal and I will no longer be recommending Ramside to friends and colleagues. I’ll start with the good points: - Our treatments were lovely and the ambience in the treatment area is relaxing. Special shout out to Jenny who did my back massage. - The food in Fusion was lovely, a nice choice on the menu and good portions. - The Spa staff were friendly and polite Things that took the shine off a “luxury” experience: - The receptionist who greeted us looked bored and like we were bothering her by checking in. - The changing rooms smell of drains and a lot of the lockers don’t work. It feels like it needs a refresh and some maintenance. - The staff whip your towels or bathrobes away after 30 mins, so if you’re in the pool/rooms or having a treatment then you may come back to nothing. - The lounger cushions are worn, dirty and often wet. Not nice to sit on if you’re just arriving. - To order a drink other than water you have to leave the Spa area to go to a kiosk in the swimming pool area. You used to be able to order from the staff to your sun lounger. More serious issues: - One of our party has a shellfish allergy. Despite notifying the server she was allowed to order something with shellfish in it. Luckily the Fusion Manager caught this, otherwise it could have been a very serious mistake. - The temperature in the Spa area is unbearable. The Hydro pool is at 37 degrees and the Spa Manager advised that it was a legal requirement to have the air temperature the same. Having looked this up, that’s total nonsense. The pool air temperature needs to be no less than 2 degrees less than the pool. A Hydro pool can be between 32-37 degrees, why not just turn it down a few degrees and save yourself some energy costs too. It’s so hot in there that I got a high heart rate notification from my apple watch even when I have no underlying medical conditions – it’s essentially like sitting on a beach in Dubai in high humidity and not being able to leave. Both the staff members and other guests were very uncomfortable, and several were opening the outside door to let in some air. The door is supposed to remain shut and so there were guests and staff members getting involved in arguments over opening and shutting the door, which was not very relaxing. The Spa Manager suggested that we sit in the swimming pool area, which was a bit cooler, but with respect that’s not what I paid for. I paid for access to the Spa area and the rooms. As a result of the temperature, I didn’t use any of the sauna/steam rooms as quite frankly there was no need. When I gave the feedback to the receptionist, she said she’d “never had that feedback before”, which is utterly ridiculous. It’s all anyone was talking about in the Spa. The staff working in the Spa also hear it a lot and are themselves too uncomfortable. Not very compliant with HSE workplace guidance on comfortable temperature despite the Spa Manager saying it was within guidance. Overall it’s no longer worth the premium they are charging. All they’re after are as many people as possible crammed into every session. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Wow what a place! Absolutely amazing treatment, beautiful set up! Staff truly couldn't do enough for you. Felt like a queen for the day. Would Absolutely recommend, 100% worth the money.

Fantastic experience: We had an absolutely fabulous and very relaxing night away. The treatments in the spa were amazing. A back massage & facial. The therapists were so attentive & professional. Elemis products gorgeous. The spa is beautiful and spotless. So many areas to choose from inside & outside. Special mention must go to the Fusion restaurant. Absolutely amazing food, lovely atmosphere. All freshly cooked. All staff, especially Tilly, & all on last weekend ,very friendly and helpful at all times. Although the hotel was busy we felt looked after all the time. Very spacious feel. Our suite was gorgeous and immaculate. The bed was so comfy. Loved our stay at Ramside. It went too fast!

Positive experience: Was great. Good facilities and great food. Not giving 5 stars due to the amount stuff with out of order signs, peeling decor and smell on entry to changing rooms.

Negative experience: Quite disappointing. We paid about £300 for both of us. Our couples massage was split into two massages because of staffing and I had to wait half an hour while my partner was asked to go first. It was difficult to find any free beds around the pool and most of the spare ones were wet. The toilets were out of paper and we had to wait 20 minutes for the infinity pool because they were running late. Our food in the restaurant was way too spicy and we can handle spice but that was too much and we didn’t feel well after. Would say the staff were friendly, it was clean and the massages were amazing. But when you’re paying this much you expect everything to be perfect and at least be offered a free drink or something because everything that was running late just cut into our time we could spend in the spa area. Edit: we contacted the spa at the time to complain, but are still waiting for a reply which I don’t think we will be getting. Customer service is also disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Friendly and welcoming staff. Top class spa, having excellent facilities, with relaxing and rejuvenating treatments. Fusion restaurant is a must on your visit; amazing, mouthwatering food! Definitely recommended.

Fantastic experience: Great spa. Has everything you'd expect. It's a good size and is pretty much everything you want. Only slight Gripe was that I couldn't get a drink around the pool (apart from water) Sitting about for hours on end while the Mrs was away getting her treatments makes it a long day and a pint and my book would have helped. I'm looking forward to going back.

Positive experience: First tv remote no back on could see the batteries. Second one would not turn TV off. Toilet roll holder was very loose they did not repair it after l reported it Looking out my room window I could see their rolls Royce and a pile of pallets just near window People who do not have blue badges where using the few spaces that there where. Meaning they did not have signs to say please leave these spaces for blue badge holders The breakfast was ok the scrambled eggs had a lot of water in the tray that was out. No fresh cheese but pre packed peices. You could only use the pool and sauna steam room for 1 hour a day you had to book this to .spoke with a manager who was good to deal with but did not seem to grasp that this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel.

Positive experience: Went for lunch at Fusion, was very disappointed, salad was missing several ingredients, staff were rushed and dismissive. Won't be back soon.

Positive experience: Just joined as a member, staff are so friendly and spa is gorgeous. I take it back, some staff are friendly, some staff do no work whilst others do it all. Robes are never available. Towels arnt topped up. They forget to apply members discount. And it's dirty more times than it should be.

Positive experience: We came here during our stay at the Farmhouse for a birthday weekend. Staff weren’t very friendly at all, which was a real let down. However spa was lovely, loved the outdoor pool. We also had a mud treatment which was gorgeous too.

Only criticism is the ease of buying drinks.. there's only one card machine for all 3 pools, and I spent some of my time walking around trying to find someone free to take my order. The treatment rooms were wonderful, where the staff were so good! Special thanks to Sophie for a decent Swedish Massage.

Positive experience: The Spa is probably the best in the area, with an absolutely incredible hydrotherapy pool. It can get quite busy though, and the seats/beds around each pool are often permanently taken by people who never seem to be using them... Drinks can be quite expensive, but the, effectively poolside, service is impeccable.

Positive experience: I enjoyed the massage and the spa itself although I do think there could have been more instruction. I think the receptionist assumed we knew what we were doing but had to go back to reception more than once to ask what happens now, or where to go or where to find flip flops. It seemed half arsed if I'm being honest which was very disappointing, especially for the price you pay to go to a spa. You expect the service to be faultless. The massage area and the staff were faultless to a T. That's what I would have expected throughout.

The meal is the worst meal I have ever had in a restaurant and when we were asked if everything was ok with the meal, and I said it wasn't good, it was very obvious they were used to this answer. Staff were lovely. However the spa was fabulous, best ever and will definitely visit again but won't be combining it with the meal.

Fantastic experience: As a serial spa-goer, this is without a doubt my favourite so far. There are cheaper places to go for a nice pamper, but the Ramside spa is a proper treat, ...with bucks fizz (or OJ) on arrival, sumptuous fluffy robes and towels, free lockers in the changing rooms. Round the pools, a choice of infused waters and fresh fruit platters, all included. Lots of loungers, inside and out, and a variety of sauna/steam/hydro therapy choices. Then the treatments, marvellous, and the quiet and darkened post treatment lounge area, with full size adjustable beds to just keep relaxing. It's just lovely and sometimes paying a bit more is totally worth it.

Positive experience: Beautiful spa, we were lucky enough to get a non busy day. Fabulous Thai food and service in the restaurant. Would be five-star but one of the saunas was too hot and my sister burnt her feet !

Positive experience: Very busy hotel and very noisy. Good amenities however the aircon didn't work, neither did the WiFi and there is zero phone signal. I had a ground floor room overlooking the golf course so had random people walking right by the doors which meant I had to have the doors and curtains completely shut. Beds are very uncomfortable and heard other guests into the early hours and doors slamming shut. Definitely not worth the price

Negative experience: Lovely hotel. But steak and grill restaurant first night of staying forgot frys for one meal and new potatoes for another. When potatoes did come 10mins later food was cold. Spa is a joke. You cannot get into the big one without paying extra. Was not told this at anytime. Only when complaining. Spa is only for 4 people. So if others are in there you cannot get in it. The pool and spa is 1 hour slots which again was not told about this. And to top it off sat in the bath to see someone else's toothpaste spit down the side of the sink. And the night before glasses left in the room after room service. We stay in lots of hotels up and down the country and find this to be one of the worst to stay in for transparency. And service. Look at other options before looking at all the lovely surroundings.

Negative experience: Seems to have gone downhill since my last visit. Food in the fusion is limited for vegetarian and vegans. The attitude of the some of the staff is like they would rather not be there. Its a shame cos I used to look forward to my visits here.

Positive experience: The spa and all its amenities were incredible! Everything was exceptionally clean. We had the mud rasul treatment and that was brilliant, they could do with explaining it a bit more as it was very vague and the food was exceptional, the only issue was the really long wait we had. Would definitely give it another go!

Fantastic experience: First time visiting this spa, had an hour long Swedish massage and it was fantastic, the therapist was great at making me feel relaxed but also really concentrating on tense or knotted areas. Came out feeling so much better. The setting itself is absolutely beautiful and didn't feel rushed at any point. I will definitely be coming back for more treatments in the future. It's definitely not the cheapest option out there for a massage but easily one of the best I've been to.

Positive experience: I have dined at the spa's Fusion restaurant a couple of times previously and neither the food nor service lived up to the standards set by previous visits. I ordered Pad Thai, which was okay. Due to the positive previous experiences this visit disappointed.

Negative experience: I've been to Ramside Spa many times and have always recommended to friends and family. Visited this week though and was totally disappointed. Prices have gone up and quality of service has drastically gone down. It was VERY busy and I go as far to say it was overbooked. Had to queue to check in (about 10 people in front of us when we arrived) which I've never had to do. Once through into the pool area I've never seen it so busy - no beds available in the paid access area or main pool area. Reception blamed this on weather as people weren't sitting outside - if that's the case they need to reduce number of bookings in autumn and winter. Had a 25 minute treatment booked which lasted appx 10 mins - 5 mins late waiting in reception, 5 minute chat, and I was out of the room 5 minutes before end of treatment slot. A number of the beds in sleep room were broken. Can't fault the food as it was delicious, however the hot drinks we ordered for our afternoon tea never arrived and we got sick of waiting. Thoroughly disappointing and non relaxing day.

Negative experience: Friendly staff but the food at the fusion restaurant is average at best.
