Negative experience: Not a club you should look for and I will never recommend this to anyone specially because of super bad customer care and complex terms and condition which is made to loot money from you. The customer support team will not be transparent and will try to give half Info as half info is always false info so that if you want to modify something you will never get a solution and end up paying more always. Sales team is completely full of liars who will make so many promises during joining and later period you will realise, these are all fake and does not apply. They can do that easily as they never give you anything in writing and you cant give any proof later as you generally trust what they say. So if really someone wants to join the club even after reading this, ask everything in writing from sales team before joining even ask more about terms and conditions so that you will not feel cheated later.

Negative experience: The gym was dirty, and it seems my trial was cut short. A sales representative called and abruptly said it was over, even though I believed I still had a Blaze trial class booked for today. Very disappointing experience.

I recently completed a 14-day trial at David Lloyd Basildon, and unfortunately, it did not meet the standards I expected, especially given the company’s core values of premium service, community, and excellence. Here’s how they let those values down: 1. Lack of Hygiene (Failing Excellence): The changing rooms were poorly maintained, with grime and an unpleasant smell. The yoga studio was even worse—I had to clean my mat at home because it picked up so much debris. Cleanliness is fundamental to a premium experience, yet David Lloyd Basildon failed here. 2. Unprofessional Staff (Failing Excellence and Service): During a yoga 1 class, the instructor covering the regular session asked, “What type of yoga do you do? Is it a stretchy type and slow?” This level of unpreparedness is shocking, especially for a brand that claims to offer expert-led classes. It made the session feel chaotic and unprofessional. In another yoga class it was so cramped that you couldn't even to the exercise without hitting the person next to you. 3. Overcrowded Spin Class (Failing Service and Community): The spin class was so congested that it was almost unsafe. My arms and knees kept hitting the person next to me. Rather than fostering a sense of community, the cramped space created tension and discomfort. 4. Outdated and Busy Weights Area (Failing Excellence): The weights area was overcrowded, outdated, and felt neglected. For a gym that markets itself as premium, the facilities should be modern and well-maintained. This felt more like a budget gym experience. 5. Poor Customer Service (Failing Service): After I shared these concerns during my trial, I received a follow-up call—likely from sales. The person on the other end simply said, “Oh, alright, okay then, never mind, bye,” and hung up. This dismissive attitude completely disregarded the opportunity to address my feedback or demonstrate care for my experience. David Lloyd’s core values of excellence, service, and community were nowhere to be seen during my trial. If you’re looking for a proper gym with clean facilities, modern equipment, and professional staff, I strongly recommend Virgin Active Clearview in Brentwood instead. The contrast is night and day. Plus they have reformer and padel. Unfortunately, my experience at David Lloyd Basildon was disappointing, and I cannot recommend it to anyone serious about their fitness journey.

Negative experience: Gym equipment constantly broke/faulty, why do you only have two of everything. Most David Lloyd have more than two stair master / curved treadmills why has this not been considered if one is constantly broke? This has been going on for months. Fed up of waiting for the two piece of equipment. £140 pm for this?

Positive experience: Badminton nets are now getting in a very poor state, and they need replacing. Still having problems with the app. Not loading and causing problems ordering.

Fantastic experience: Great Body Pump with Yasmin started on time and squeezed the whole routine in. Kept me motivated

Special thanks go to Tennis Coach Blase Walton. He has given me the confidence to play competitive matches which I never would of dreamed of. Not only that, he's shown me how to get the best out of my abilities and enjoy it too. He's enthusiasm is infectious!

Fantastic experience: Great venue for tennis. Friendly members. Coaches are great. Blase Walton has been my coach for a few years and I’ve learnt lots and really improved my game. Lots of tournaments to get involved with if that’s your thing or plenty of social play with all levels of players.

Fantastic experience: This is by far my favourite David Lloyds sites. The facilities are fantastic and the staff are always lovely approachable and friendly. Always happy to help. My particular favourite is the tennis facilities. They are always an engaging and fantastic place to be. The racquets manager Blase Walton is brilliant, always upbeat and promoting positivity and great vibes throughout the courts. A real attribute to the Basildon branch. He makes coaching sessions a fun place to be but whilst also giving coaching techniques and advice that i would say are next to none. The cafe area is always great. A fun play area to keep the little ones active and entertained but also lovely food and drink options served by great staff. All whilst being able to watch the tennis courts.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of David Lloyd for years and its always a joy to go into the gym - I currently PT with Iana Chirosca and have done for a while now - I love training with Iana she is informative/explains everything well/always asks if I have any niggles or issues as l have a few health problems but most of all she is so friendly/easy going and she always puts me at ease with whatever we do when I'm training her - I believe she is an asset to David Lloyd and am desperately need to book onto her Tuesday night class as according to my friends that do it they say it's amazing/fun and a really good workout

They helped him locate it and got it back to him but went above and beyond in calming him down as he was very stressed out. Huge thank you to both ladies

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to give a massive shout out to Iana Chirosca who takes the Synergy/Gym30 class on a Monday evening. She is always very cheerful and motivates the group that attend her class. Always on hand to help with fitness advice and provides alternatives if you are not able to do the exercise that is part of the circuit.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but good things to say about the staff at the Basildon branch. From the receptionists and front of house staff, the cleaner (Ernest) tennis coach Michael Biggs and my favourite PT Iana Chirosca. Iana has been a superb PT and I always look forward to training with her.

Fantastic experience: This is a lovely gym with very good facilities. I wanted to give a special mention to Yana would is brilliant at her job and is very helpful. She is really able to help you with any questions or show you how to use the equipment.

Blase was extremely helpful and allowed her to attend many different sessions before signing her up to the ones which suited her most. Blase has a kind and professional approach with a wealth of knowledge. Michael Biggs who is now our daughters Coach at David Lloyd is amazing and will help in any which way he can to get the best from our daughter and her skill set. Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: After rejoining David Lloyd I wish I had rejoined sooner. The facilities, classes, the tennis and the staff have been great - particularly Blase Walton who is Rackets Manager. Blase is a great tennis coach who has helped me to improve my tennis and encouraged me to get back into playing more. He’s a skilful coach and very motivating, and I really enjoy his coaching sessions.

We came initially as my son had lost the passion for his tennis and needed to get the fun back in Both my daughter and son love their group lessons and my son especially loves his group lessons with Michael and his 1:1 lessons with Blase. He has really helped him come along with his shots and serves, is very patient and calm and is loving tennis again!

As an athlete who is obligated to keep in top physical condition the gym and spa facilities cater all my needs & the staff are always super friendly and happy to help. Over the summer I picked up tennis as a hobby and I have to mention Blase Walton as he has been instrumental to my development in the game. I’ve seen signifiant improvements since working with Blase especially with my technique, footwork & strategy in game. Blase looks to maximise everyones potential and his passion for the game is infectious on others.

Positive experience: Well, someone who has platinum membership, please do not expect too much. There is a 6 square meter dry sauna for all members, that is a really small for everyone.

The team, led by the exceptional manager Joseph Edmond, has consistently provided an unparalleled level of service and support. The reception team is simply outstanding. Their friendly demeanour and efficiency make every visit a pleasure. The food expertly prepared by Head Chef Dean, is always delicious and nutritious. And let's not forget the personal trainers who have helped my family and me reach new fitness heights, Ian Maggs and Richard Newman are exceptional, and Rachel Miller is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, yoga instructor in Essex. The variety of classes offered is truly impressive, from Pilates with Sue Spiers to Bodypump with Helen Mcghie, Legs, Bums & Core with Carly Turner, Ignite with Yazmin Dark and Aqua classes with Julie Allix, there's something for everyone. The classes are always well-run, with super motivational music and professional instructors. Marie Haye's Barre Fitness classes are nothing short of incredible, and Terry Knightley's Spin (Cycle) rock classes are truly unforgettable experiences. David Lloyd Basildon is a five-star club with a seven-star team. Thank you for 25 years of exceptional service and support Ian Davidson.

Ellice was amazing with showing us around and helping with getting the best deal with our membership. Can't recommend her enough. It seems like alot of money but it's totally worth it for the kids clubs alone.
