Fantastic experience: Super friendly guy Aaron working here. Really encouraging to the children (13 and 8). Very patient, wealth of climbing knowledge and expertise. Incredibly reasonable pricing and range of climbs to suit beginners to advanced levels. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Thanks again Aaron!

Fantastic experience: Paid the bunker a visit today with 3 kids aged 10 - 15 and all loved it. The staff are helpful and take the time to give safety information and demonstrations on how to use the equipment making it a ideal environment knowing children’s safety is paramount while also allowing them to be independent and learn new skills. Very reasonable priced and a days ticket means you can come and go back for a second session the same day to break it up if needed. I would recommend for all ages and a wide range of abilities.

Fantastic experience: What a little gem of a place. I thought this was going to be too small of a building to allow any serious climbing but how wrong I was. A few things to know: Firstly, the staff are absolutely amazing here. Absolute top notch service and such a friendly, knowledgeable team. Very welcoming and they create a real family energy from the moment you walk in. Secondly, the range of climbs in a small place is impressive. There's quite a lot to be doing here you, they've maximised wall space well. I found the grading more difficult than expected: everything above beginner level proved quite challenging and required some real perseverance. Finally, the training room is really quite substantial. You could spend quite a long time in there alone. Obviously, it gets busy quicky due to the size. It's also quite hot, the fans struggling against a very hot day. But the rocky like feel to this place and it's amazing team make this a real pleasure of a place. One day, I would love to see this place move to a bigger location but for now, this is still absolutely worth your time.

Fantastic experience: Really friendly and fun place to boulder, Alan (owner) is so welcoming and helpful. Some really good 'problems' to solve from beginner to mega advanced. Small cafe that serves fresh ground coffee. Would really recomend this place, well priced full day pass. You get a real sense of community here and a passion for bouldering. So helpful and fun.

Fantastic experience: Great and challenging gym with a surprisingly wide range of climbs and grades for its size, grade levels are set closer to outside grades which provides a nice change from the usual gym.

Fantastic experience: Both my boys, Alex (9) and Nathan (7) had a great few hours today for the Easter camp at the boulder bunker. A combination of climbing, games and fitness, they enjoyed their session with Alan and his team. They can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic experience: Super impressed with The boulder bunker, this gym is a true throwback to grass roots climbing! Upon arrival Andy was super friendly, informative and even gave us a quick tour / walk round! We started off in the very well kitted out "training room" which has some moon boards, beast makers, weights etc and is one of a few gyms that still has a climbing lattice. After a warm up we headed into the main climbing area which is a decent side and is lined wall to wall with a variety of climbs all the way from "easy" up to "ludicrous" in difficulty. Each climb had a unique name as well which is a nice touch and added some humour as we made our way round! Andy did specify the grades are set to "V" grade but is not listed on the wall, I appreciated this as it doesn't immediately put you off if you see something of a higher grade. I spent around 2 hours climbing various routes and they were all great fun and well set! Nothing felt too hard or silly. I still had a lot climbs left when I had to leave so there's plenty to go at even on a longer visit. If you're in the Devon area or even further afield and want a more unique old school climbing experience definitely check out the Boulder Bunker, as a climber you will not regret it! Side note: This is also a great centre for kids as well, Andy runs UV discos and other events which are suited to younger audiences!

Fantastic experience: My kids loved the Bambino’s session and now so do my nephews. A great way to wear them out in a safe environment. The staff are so lovely and the coffee is excellent!!

Fantastic experience: Visited 'The Bunker' Bouldering gym whilst on a hiking trip. Great little venue, with boulders to suit most levels, they have an excellent training room too. Staff member Aaron was very professional and friendly . Really enjoyed our visit.

Fantastic experience: My son goes to the kids clubs every week and absolutely loves it. It’s very inclusive and the team there are friendly and knowledgeable. I needed to find something for my 9 year old to direct some of his copious amounts of energy and this place is brilliant for that as the play is structured. It’s a great place to build core strength ,confidence and a discipline to insure safety first. They are always trying to improve the experience for their customers so there’s no way you can ever get bored!

Fantastic experience: The Bunker is my favourite place to spend my free time. The facilities for training are the best this side of the UK by far so if you’re into training, this place is for you. The bouldering grading is harder than places nearby but don’t let this put you off as there are plenty of climbs that even beginners (or even little ones) could conquer! Setting is abundant and re setting is regular so every few weeks or so a wall will be re set. The owner Alan and the two other staff, Aaron and Jay, are super friendly and you will get on with all of them very well. Aaron is part of the reason I still climb to this day as when I first walked in he answered every question I could think of and started me on my journey so don’t be afraid to ask any of the staff all the questions you have as they are all very knowledgeable. There is also such a nice and friendly community of climbers here so never feel awkward if you don’t want to climb alone just start a conversation and have some fun. I thank everyone at bunker so much for making such a nice and friendly environment and am looking forward to the future climbing here!! -Aidan

Negative experience: It was my first time there, all I have to say is that Aaron the staff is very aggressive the way he talks to people and disrespectful, as myself and who I was there with experienced. We are not happy with him. Hardly any routes for beginners, we are really not happy with who you employed there as he had no care or respect for us, when he should be giving a good impression to newcomers. All he cares about is the regulars. He is also very cocky and gave no help. My mum also came to pick us up and he rudely spoke to her she said, just for sitting on a table on accident. Have a word with him I would as that’s not staff you want to employ. All in all I won’t be going back there as he needs a new attitude. The owner of the place was the nicest bloke I met just a shame for who he employs. Cheers

Fantastic experience: Lovely place to go with kids of most ages.. understanding a but of climbing basics. Great for adults of any gender. Very friendly place . Aaron working there : so dedicated to help and explain safety and clever haks of using the specific techniques for climbing as well gave motivational speech to " naughty" bunch of lads :) to keep academic level of education to the top and aim for the best in life.. kids nit wanted to go home then just carried on in trying to progress and help each other to achieve better results! Small place but friendly people visiting. 3 - 4 rooms in . General boulder areas for claiming+ Mini gym Nordic walker 2+ boxing bag& treadmill+ b.d. party room + gymnastics area . You can buy basic snacks and drinks

Positive experience: Quite alright, 3.5 stars Nice people, chill vibe, good coffee, very nice campus boards/small gym room. Just few 'buts' 1. Ventilation in the bouldering part, seems to be difficult, first time it was quite sweaty, ceiling fans were off. 2. Probably linked to the first point, holds can be quite slippery. Maybe a thorough scrub and clean, every time the routes are reset would help? I don't know. 3. Additional cost - no free parking in the area. ... But once again, I really liked the campus/gym area. You can finish your training there quite nicely. And you get free WiFi with good coverage.

Fantastic experience: Just had my 6 year old sons birthday. Kids from 4-6, climbed, played games, rolled and laughed. Cat booked us in, friendly and patient, Aaron was the kids instructor, clear on instructions especially rule #1 , the climbing, games and coffee were all good. The other parents liked it too, and a couple plan to book their child's parties there. Jay explained the party, with climbing a UV climbing and music - grab tour glow sticks, face paint and enjoy. Fantastic experience: Really great climbing gym! Don't let the size put you off - it is a fairly small gym but has some really great boulder problems that will keep you occupied for plenty long enough; there is also a really good training room with a host of gear. I'd recommend chatting to Seb - a really attentive and helpful route setter at the gym; he has some really invaluable insights into the different routes and will spend the time to guide you through. The place is very lovingly worn in - what I expect and love about proper bouldering gyms. Oh and also: top notch coffee and hot chocolate! Tom & Aggie

Negative experience: Omg, never been anywhere so disgusting in my life. The place is filthy. The bathroom sink was out of order and unclean. Wouldn't touch tea or coffee as facilities not clean and covered in grounds. 1 x twix bar a few flapjacks was their only food in the cafe. Only 1 staff and he just sat behind the till. No one to even watch the children were climbing correctly. No heating and freezing. All tools and paint on show under the climbing frames. Not impressed and will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: I enjoy going here because the people are friendly and never make me feel silly for being a beginner, there's a good range of different difficulties of climbs, a relaxed seating area for having drinks and snacks afterwards and I always feel great after I've challenged myself.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant way to keep fit and have fun at the same time. We went a few times in the space of a couple of weeks and plan on going back when we can. Our granddaughter loved it and she has asked a couple of times when w are going to go again. Not sure why is not more popular.

Positive experience: It was fun. It was hard work though because had sandals on and forgot trainers so did it in bare feet but didn't spoil it that much.

Fantastic experience: The owner is very friendly and offers no pressure advice on membership and gym usage. Definitely not a corporate machine designed to milk your funds. I have returned with my children for the kids club and the man who runs it was patient and made it fun. A well thought out and built climbing area and training room. It suits all ages and abilities. Run by climbers for climbers (and wannabe climbers!)

Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich und gibt gerne Tipps fürs Klettern. Wir waren dort mit zwei Familien zwischen 6 und 49 Jahren und alle hatten viel Spaß. Schuhe können vor Ort geliehen werden.

Fantastic experience: I really (x4) enjoyed my inaugural climbing induction/training session. My instructor knew his exercise Science and anatomy. His teaching technique was very balanced with regular (almost) indiscernible rest periods interspersed between exertions. I will definitely be carrying on with bouldering/rock climbing. Since I'm now a member, I plan on coming back before my membership expires
