Negative experience: Dont see why Guests staying at the hotel should be charged for using the pool facilities. The rooms are already expensive per night, and the food in the bar was average quality, again very expensive.

Fantastic experience: My Husband and I booked an overnight stay in a deluxe room. I received an email upon booking to advise that the hotel hosts events/functions over the weekend and guests can sometimes experience noise until 12pm, so to contact the hotel if it was an issue. I did contact them and I was anxious about this, but they were polite and helpful and did reassure me that our room was situated in a quiet part of the hotel. Our room was situated on the opposite side of the hotel to the function, as advised on the phone (the function happened to be a wedding). We could hear some music in our room up until around 7pm (probably echoing in the wind), but after we returned from dinner, it was peaceful, no music or noise from other guests at all. We both had a very comfortable sleep, it was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable, room was clean and staff were all incredibly attentive, welcoming and friendly. The food and drink were also delicious. Staff in the restaurant went above and beyond and were all wonderful. Parking was also very easy - plenty of spaces. We had a great stay, thank you. This hotel is very well run.

Fantastic experience: A very warm welcome from caring and interested staff made a comfortable stay extra special. The room was comfortable and well equipped and we had a good night's sleep. Supper was a delight and breakfast set us nicely for the day. We intend to return. Might try the spa next time

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic wedding anniversary stay at Fairlawns over the weekend. The service was impeccable, from the moment we greeted the reception staff, to the health club staff, but especially from the restaurant and bar staff. They went out of their way to make this a most memorable weekend and we are forever grateful. The room was lovely (a complimentary upgrade which was a lovely gesture), the thermal suite facilities were excellent, and the food in the restaurant was truly stunning! We will definitely be back!! The venue was perfect, from the very first meeting with Josh we felt at complete ease and nothing was too much to ask, we felt so well looked after. On the day the manager and the whole team were brilliant, everyone complimented on how brilliant everything was. The food was incredible. The rooms have been recently refurbished I believe so it was in great condition and looks fantastic and modern. The guest rooms were clean and looked fantastic. Positive experience: Absolutely lovely place to celebrate a party, the management, from booking to the actual night itself were on hand. The food was absolutely delicious, so many of my guests also commented on the service. I will say though that the drink prices were a bit steep, so bring your credit card with you.

Fantastic experience: Went for a Revitalise Me Spa Day with my wife and I have to say it did not disappoint. The breakfast and lunch were great. All the facilities were clean as well as refreshing. The massage was so nice. It was my first ever massage and the woman I had was so nice and comforting. I would suggest if you are looking to go there, make sure to have your own slippers instead of buying theirs like I did. My only criticism is that there are no hooks in the men's shower stalls. That's me nitpicking though because it was so good. 10/10 would go again!

Positive experience: It was a very nice meal at a nice hotel. I enjoyed the Lobster and the sticky toffee pudding and the coffee but thought adding the custard creams did not suit the ambience of the meal, it kinda brought it down market, don't get me wrong, I like c/creams but more so with a cup of tea, watching TV at home. Now if it was a Vienna mint biscuit wrapped in foil, that would be except able and almost just as cheap. As for the napkins I think you should use cotton linen at all meals, using throw away napkins doesent show you care much about the inviroment. Hope to have another meal with you again soon.

Positive experience: It’s our honeymoon. We enjoyed the swimming pool and steam room, it was wonderful, the best part of our stay. The room: The bed is not too comfy, it has two parts. Restaurant and bar service: very friendly staff and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Another fabulous wedding anniversary meal at The Fairlawns. We had our wedding reception here in 1998 and it took us until 2023 to return for an anniversary. We resolved to not miss a year from then on. Last night’s meal was beautiful. Fabulous menu - you do make it hard for us to choose. Lovely, friendly service. Just such a warm, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The best for miles. We can’t wait to visit again soon. Thankyou.

Fantastic experience: Having attended a wedding recently I can’t recommend this company enough . Pam and Joules made the occasion supporting the party while serving and encouring a positive attitude. I would highly recommend attending here for a wedding or a one off drink with the fantastic staff providing a one off service which you can’t find elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: Recently stayed for a wedding. As someone who has previously worked in hospitality and therefore understands the challenge and sheer effort of providing a good service, I can honestly say the service we received was exceptional. Staff are welcoming, eager to please and rarely without a smile on their faces. The food was phenomenal, up there with some of the best food I’ve ever had. Room was spacious, air conditioned and spotless. Couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Chateaubriand - cooked to perfection Cod - exceptional flavours Braised beef - delicious Staff are excellent, friendly and allowing their own personality out which doesn’t happen sadly at some “fine dining” places! Fantastic experience: Stayed over for a wedding we were invited to. We’d booked a ‘snug’ (cheapest) room, on arrival we had been upgraded to a ‘classic’ (next cheapest) room… I’m really not sure how much smaller their rooms can be! Are the snug rooms just a cupboard? Very compact, but nicely fitted out and bathroom was great with a powerful shower. Venue itself is lovely, evening pizza laid on was perfect for a drunken wedding reception! Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Bar prices above average but it’s a wedding venue so to be expected.

Fantastic experience: Hi Fairlawns Hotel, we wanted to let you know what a super stay we had last weekend. Julian and I were really impressed with a lot of the weekend. Some of the highlights was the welcome and Mo and Morgan really did make a positive impression over the two days. All the staff were very friendly, smiling and eager to please. The upgrade of our room was very welcome. Your grounds are a lovely walk and the different spaces to chill out or have a drink are really special. The hotel has a lovely, family feel to it, which does make a difference from the standard chain hotels across the country. We look forward to staying again when we are in the vicinity.

Fantastic experience: Faultless, everything from first arrival, front of house, the rooms, cleanliness, is faultless. We booked to spend an evening here, had two treatments the first was a full body deep tissue massage with Charlotte, I’ve never felt so comfortable and relaxed. It was worth every single penny. So professional with healing hands highly recommend getting a massage, had a facial after with a lady called Olivia who was also wonderful. Our evening meal was 10/10 cooked to perfection, all the staff in the restaurant particularly a young chap called Harry were outstanding and real credit to the restaurant. I will be retuning and would highly recommend coming here to anyone looking to be pampered.

Fantastic experience: I just wanted to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to ALL of the staff at Fairlawns for making my spa stay (my birthday treat) so special. I always have a magical time at Fairlawns but this time was even better, not just because of the wonderful refurbishments, but because of the extra mile the staff go to make it the best experience ever. A shout out to Jo & Ralphie in the Spa Lounge for whom nothing was too much trouble; to Beth, Isabelle & Ruth in the restaurant for their excellent customer service; not forgetting the brilliant therapists - Brie, Charlotte and Tia for taking all of my stress away and last but not least the cleaning and maintenance staff for making it a safe space for me to enjoy everything because I’m immunosuppressed and the entire place is immaculate and germ free. Delicious food and drinks, outstanding service and top of the range facilities. What more could you ask for?

Fantastic experience: One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Everything about it is great - the staff, the food, the rooms are all amazing! Whenever I come here I worry if I’m going to be disappointed, but I never am. I had my wedding reception here 11 years ago (one of the best and most memorable days ever!) and we keep coming back for food, spa days, treatments and have stayed here a few times. Fantastic experience: I recently stayed here for my birthday as a gift. I can't say anything negative about the hotel. From the moment we checked in the customer service was exemplary and this included front of house and in the restaurant. Exceptional customer service was shown in the restaurant for our evening meal by a member of staff called Hayley, who went above and beyond to make the meal a 5* experience. The food was fantastic, a small menu, but inclusive to all dietary needs. The breakfast menu was also excellent with a choice of continental and cooked breakfasts. We paid to use the thermal spa facilities, which is well worth the extra cost. There is a choice of rooms including the sauna, steam rooms, hot tubs, salt rooms and many more. The facilities were perfectly clean and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The room was unique in a maisonette style and again it was extremely clean and luxurious. I would recommend this hotel and I will be visiting again very soon.

Fantastic experience: We had our wedding at Fairlawns and we couldn't have asked for a better day. The events team were brilliant in the lead up to the wedding, nothing was too much trouble and they accommodated all of our plans for the day so easily. On the day we felt so relaxed and at ease, everything was taken care of from when we arrived. You can definitely tell they have done many weddings! From entry to exit the service from all the staff was impeccable. The food was amazing and enjoyed by all. So glad we booked the Fairlawns. Perfect end to a perfect day for a perfect mom.

Fantastic experience: Stayed during the week due to work travel and absolutely couldn't fault it. Staff is very helpful and friendly Spa facilities are really nice and clean. Room was very spacious and clean. Missed some toiletry bits, e.g. body lotion (considering it's a Spa hotel) but not a big deal. Restaurant food was lovely but a bit pricey. Otherwise, would recommend and would stay again.

Fantastic experience: Myself and partner spent 2 nights at this hotel. I must say we have throughly enjoyed our stay. Chris the chef and Hayley made us feel like we were millionaires food wise. All the staff made us felt welcome especially Mo, Beth and Shanon. Overall our experience was A star. We will definitely come back and also we will spread the word of this lovely hotel and spa. Fantastic experience: We have just enjoyed the most amazing Spa day at Fairlawns. Every single thing was perfect. We had a breakfast of smoothie, berry and yoghurt pot and a croissant followed by a swim and relax by the pool. We enjoyed a pamper session of Elemis products and then delicious lunch ( I highly recommend the katsu chicken although my mom’s salad was huge and packed with cherry tomatoes - cheers Danny). Michelle looked after us so well as always, nothing is too much trouble - thank you Our treatments with Portia and Alison were also wonderful and tailored to us. Cannot recommend enough.

Fantastic experience: We booked as a gift from a friend for an overnight stay and it was very good overall. I believe the room was one of the four-poster bedrooms used for bridal parties so there were some very minor things which I am being picky about given the price of the room: a couple of stray pieces of confetti and a creme egg on top of the frame (which I presume was from the previous guests party) so it loses a star there; but the starlight canopy was a nice touch as was the bath salts ready and waiting. We also managed to use the smart TV to share the phone screen so we could watch a film in the evening which was an added bonus. We didn't stay for dinner but breakfast was complimentary. You could help yourself to continental (croissants and pan au chocolate, fruit salad, yoghurt, blueberry compote, Weetabix and cornflake boxes) and they offered tea/coffee, toast and choice of hot breakfast options; so there was plenty to choose from. It would usually cost £17.50 though for anyone who wants to purchase it as an additional add on, however many of the items are locally sourced (including honey made on site) so still worth it in my opinion. Accessibility wise, generally there are a fair few steps in the hotel although most areas have ramps or lift access that I could see. I didn't see any for the breakfast room though so this might be served elsewhere. There is plenty of free parking on site in the car park including a number of accessible spaces. Staff were friendly and helpful and there seemed to be plenty available if you needed them.

Fantastic experience: We were at a funeral, the outside grounds were well looked after. The entrance was warm clean and welcoming, the staff were friendly smart efficient, The room was large and welcoming, tables had very clean tablecloths serviettes, cutlery, food was fresh tasty well served

Fantastic experience: We went there for mother's day which is traditionally a very busy day in hospitality. I thought the presentation of the food was top class. Also, good staff. What I like as well is that there are some staff who I've recognised over a number of years now on the waiting and front of house team. That's a great sign that staff and customers are treated well. It was a more expensive menu on the day, but you get what you pay for. Fair play, well worth it.

Fantastic experience: Thank you, Josh and your colleagues, for making our day absolutely fantastic. You took the pressure off setting the room as we were at church. After 6 months of planning with your selves, it just couldn't have been a better day. From the drinks on arrival (which we arrived 10 minutes early) and the team were already waiting for us. Lunch was, of course, outstanding as usual (we had we happy guests), and most of all, the 2 staff members who were making sure everything went smoothly did such that. Also our family were so happy with their stay and their delicious breakfast. So we would like to thank you all so much. We would definitely recommend this venue.

Fantastic experience: My sister and I went there for a girly overnight stay. We booked same day after speaking to Alex over the phone who ensured we'd have a good sized bed because I was expecting at the time. When we arrived we were given the biggest and warmest welcome by Emma and she made sure we had everything we needed on our room including plates for our food as we got there a bit late we ordered Indian. Our room was the junior suite and it felt more like an apartment as it had 2 floors. It was perfect in size we had a place to sit and chat and bathroom is lovely and clean. Loved that the bath was downstairs. Very quirky. We really didn't want to leave! We then met Alex in the morning and she showed us around and gave us more info about venue spaces too! We will be back! Thank you Alex and Emma and amazing bar staff!

Fantastic experience: We went here for a 90th birthday the food was fabulous, the service was good too. We hired a private dining room, which was beautiful , but I think there could have been more room around the table has it was quite tight, there were 14 people in our party but apart from that I really enjoyed the experience. My cousins were also allowed to go the night before to set up the room, which I thought was excellent as then all they had to do the next day was enjoy the day with our much loved Aunt

Fantastic experience: Decided to have a New Year's Refresh and booked in a Spa Day with Deep Tissue Massage and Aqua Massage... This experience cost £162. Upon arrival, from the outside looks a bit dated, but who has time for such structural works, when you go inside all of that is irrelevant as it is modern, beautiful and very clean. As soon as we enter the staff are on hand to greet us and from the beginning of the day to the end all the staff were just amazing, they have excellent excellent customer service and our well structured. We're were shown around and provided a bag with robes and towels, after we were changed we were seated for a light complimentary breakfast, croissant, fruit, yoghurt and granola and a wide selection of teas and coffee... after breakfast we had our first treatments, followed by a lounge by the pool... its a nice area, the pool was a bit too cold for me so I didn't go in. However, I spent some time enjoying all the hot treatments,went into the jacuzzi which was lovely and hot, tried rhe various different saunas and steam rooms there was about 4 of each. You have to go outside to get to the separate hot treatment areas. In summer this would be even more fantastic as they have a lot of nice outdoor seating areas, sun loungers etc. We then had our complimentary lunch which was absolutely fantastic, was so tasty. We then went into the snug pod to just relax which was very very nice.... well needed... we also had some complimentary afternoon treats, cakes and fruits... the last item on the itninary was the 10 minute aqua massage which I really enjoyed, could have done that longer, it was a nice end to the day. Took our time to get ready. We then went for dinner in the 176 restuarant, we were served by Jade who is just top notch, she has amazing customer service and you can tell that she is well versed in her role and was able to provide us with some great information about the hotel, services etc and also recommendations for food. The food was excellent, having just changed the menu .. we started with the Korean BBq wings.. beautiful, tasty, crispy, sticky... so good ... I had the pork and my sister had the sirloin... both well cooked, seasoned and just fabulous. I had the creme brulee for dessert... perfection.. as soon I heard the crack, I just knew.. one of the best ones I have had. We finished our evening chilling by the bar in front of the log fire. Overall was just an amazing day, left feeling well fed, relaxed, and will definetly be going back. Do I recommend...110%... you will not be disappointed. (FYI, I did not stay in the hotel, just a spa day so my 5 star for the rooms was in relation to the overall presentation of the hotel)

Fantastic experience: Celebrated our wedding here on Friday and couldn't have picked a better venue from initial enquiry to the big day. The staff were tremendous, Josh for sorting everything out and answering all our questions throughout the year, Chris and Justin who coordinated everything on the day, everything went smoothly, food, drink and service was all amazing. Positive experience: Me and my wife had a spa day very happy untill i had a shower at end of the day i left my fairlawns bag which we were given at start of the day by my locker while i had a shower when i returned bag had gone missing with my glasses reported to reception dont look like im going to get them back will have to purchase a new pair spoiled a good day out with the cost of new glasses dont leave any belongings unattended

Positive experience: I went for fla festive afternoon tea here with a group of friends. We had a private room(the Oak room) as there were 14 of us. The afternoon tea was lovely and service was very good.

Fantastic experience: Just went to a 50th party and had a fantastic time. The service from the staff was excellent, food and drinks are always top form.

Positive experience: Rooms are OK, although the "double bed" is made up of two single beds. Not very comfy and too soft. Room had a bathtub, but disappointed with the limited toiletries and the lack of bubble bath/bath oil which I would expect from a spa hotel. TV is small and not up to modern standards. Dinner was lovely and staff very attentive. Cleaning staff very loud and chatty in the morning which you can hear through the walls, so no need to set an alarm. Breakfast is overpriced with only one rasher of bacon, one sausage etc. Bar closes at 9pm which seems very early for a place with no alternative entertainment apart from going back to your room. My spa day was great! However the pool area seems more like a gym swimming pool - water is cold, and there's no 'spa vibe'. The other spa facilities are nice. Staff very friendly and helpful! My massage by Tia was fantastic and one of the better massages I've had. Being a therapist myself I'm very picky! The facial I received ( I can't remember therapist's name) wasn't all that good, but all in all a relaxing experience. Don't bother with the Aqua massage, it's just something that's added to the itinerary and doesn't actually give much benefit. Very long review, and if it seems negative- don't let it put you off. I would return! :)

Positive experience: Went for a mud spa and afternoon tea. The spa reception is lovely with a warm welcome from staff. When you get the mud spa you only have access to mud room so we did not see the rest of the facilities. There were some old disposable knickers when we got into mud room so we were a little worried about the cleanliness of the place. However, we carried on with our DIY mud treatment which was quite nice. The afternoon tea was the best with a wide selection & you can takeaway leftovers, although service was very slow & it took ages for us to get more tea. All being said, I would return for afternoon tea & maybe to see the rest of the facilities. Hopefully, they have more attention to the cleanliness of the rest of it.

Fantastic experience: Great stay! Spa was lovely, had a good breakfast but the best bit by far was the bed! Comfiest bed we've stayed in at a hotel, ever!

Fantastic experience: The rooms are very comfortable and the beds are great. The food in the restaurant is pricey but very very nice so we'll worth the money in my opinion. I haven't tried the spa, but it is always full when I stay here.

Fantastic experience: We stayed as part of a wedding. The rooms were good. Baby's cot was provided which was very useful. For the wedding the wedding coordinator, Chris, was very friendly and patient, even when the wedding party were running slightly behind! Food provided for the wedding was great, as were the rest of the staff. Bar service was very quick. Great place for a wedding!

Negative experience: Currently on a two night stay - paid £470 and put in a bedroom directly above music blaring till midnight both nights. Absolutely unacceptable and frustrating. Not what we signed up for in a country hotel on a Sunday night. The staff’s response was unhelpful and unprofessional. Exceptionally disappointed in what should have been a lovely break away. Update- on checkout Emily on reception was wonderful and professional and has promised if we return won’t be above the music. Her conduct has encouraged us to stay again in the future.

Fantastic experience: Just come back from a 3 night stay at this hotel, we didn't have any meals there. On the Saturday afternoon a mains water pipe burst and the water to the hotel was cut off as were another 20,000 homes in the area. Emily the reception manager phoned us and gave us the option to leave with a full refund but we didn't have anywhere else to go so we stayed. The hotel staff worked really hard to give the best service they could and put about 10 litres of water in bottles in our room. We couldn't fault anything with the hotel it was very clean and our room was very comfortable, all the hotel staff were really friendly. We went into the Spa on Saturday afternoon which was very nice and relaxing. They have a bank of EV chargers which was very handy to charge our car. We would certainly stay here again.

Fantastic experience: Stayed 14th October for our sons wedding. We had a fantastic day, from the moment we arrived. Staff are brilliant nothing is to much trouble for them. The wedding was amazing, food superb, couldn't have asked for a better day. Thank you Fairlawns for making the day so special for the 2 grooms and the wedding party. A day enjoyed by all

Fantastic experience: Very pleasant. Nice size car park with parking close to the entrance. I stayed here and used the restaurant but not the spa. The room was lovely and clean and welcoming. Super soft bed and lots of room in a great size room. The restaurant isn’t by any means the cheapest and I spent £65 on a 3 course meal and 2 drinks but I must say it was delicious! Everything was presented perfectly and tasted amazing!! Also the service was exceptionally polite and attentive.

Fantastic experience: Took my mum for Afternoon tea, food was beautiful, we initially had to wait 20+ mins to be served as we were just left there ( not a great start) then jade came over and she couldn’t apologise enough ( she was unaware we hadn’t been seen to) couldn’t do enough for us, she also seemed to be doing a lot whilst others were nowhere to be seen or having a casual chat. fairlawns definitely need to recognise and appreciate jades hard work,

Fantastic experience: We had our wedding at the Fairlawns this week. It was perfect! From the initial enquiry, to checking out the morning after the big day, we were made to feel special. The staff are a credit to hospitality, nothing is too much trouble and they made our experience so enjoyable. The venue is amazing, the rooms are amazing too. We had so many guests compliment on the whole day but especially the food. It was delicious. Thanks for the best few days.

Negative experience: £50 for a manicure one hour before closing Not allowing for 2 hours drying time resulting in smudging of polish along with damage to cuticle. The Spa manager apologised and did offer other options but not a refund. From friends experiences: £50 is expensive for this kind of treatment and it has put me off having further manicures: I do a better job myself.

We honestly cannot thank you all enough. We had the most perfect memorable day and night and will recommend anyone we can to you. Positive experience: After looking at the website, I was expecting a bit more from the hotel. The room was small but suitable for one night. You have to pay an extra £25 per person to use the spa facilities, so we didn't bother, as most hotels offer this as part of your stay. It felt very generic as hotels go. Plenty of car parking and the room was clean. It was a good location for us, but I wouldn't choose to stay again.

Fantastic experience: My husband Tim & I wanted to thank Joanne and all the Team for the excellent service provided at my Mom’s funeral reception on 11th July. Also for the kindness shown by upgrading us to a Deluxe Room for our 2 night stay. Room 50 was spotless, very comfortable and well equipped. Everything went extremely smoothly on 11th. The food for the buffet was excellent with great attention to detail. We had added a few extra requests but had no need to remind the Team about anything. We were really impressed. Fairlawn’s hosted my Dad’s funeral reception back in 2018 and my Mom always said that she would like us to use the same venue. Joanne and the Team certainly did her proud. Thank you!!

Fantastic experience: We’ve eaten in the restaurant and the bar a few times and the service is excellent. The food is delicious and when I was pregnant they were amazing with helping with the things I wasn’t allowed to eat. We last came in December and I hope to come back soon. We’ve also been for afternoon tea and that’s delicious too.

Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful reception when arriving. Went for lunch as we arrived early for our room. On returning to reception they presented us with an upgrade on the booked room. This was a special gift for our 20th Wedding Anniversary and a thank you for choosing the Fairlawns having had our wedding reception here 20 years ago. On entering the room we couldn’t believe the Anniversary card, chocolate and balloon, heart shaped. My wife and I thank the staff and management for their kind gift . My wife is now enjoying her Spa treatment, with beauty treatments tomorrow. We will certainly be making the most of our weekend here and it will be a special year of memory.
