Positive experience: Nice small gym with enough routes to climb on. Might find it miserable to climb here if you are below 5’2. Most of the route setting are reachy and not very pleasant to work on. The setting should really be more inclusive.

Positive experience: Really nice place with friendly staff... and it is so central. It needs some lower pull up bars, more room for muscle ups, up to 50kg dumbells range would be good, more climbing training boards and areas to put phones/bottles. Def will go there again as bouldering set was technical and fun.

Positive experience: So fun to discover a climbing gym close to my air B’n’B. Visiting mid morning was a treat as it was quiet and uncrowded. Playing death metal in the gym was lost on me tho.

Negative experience: Nice staff and very clean but between the limited angles, holds and setting this isn't a gym for experienced climbers. Price is super high for what's offered.

Fantastic experience: Went in the morning before work. Good tunes, nice and quiet, and setting was amazing. Space is not as small as I imagined. Flowy and techy blocs for the most part. Grades are pretty steep and on the higher end of the range.

Fantastic experience: Visited this bouldering place a few months ago and it was awesome, friendly staff and very nice decor, the facilities are fantastically spotless and accessible which is a rare and much appreciated part of this place. Routes are reasonably challenging and made a wonderful place to take friends who may be new to climbing to come visit. 10/10, would recommend, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves :)

Fantastic experience: Very cool climbing gym with welcoming reception and bar. Lots of lockers (bring your own lock)! Seperate changing rooms and shower stalls. Super clean with a friendly staff and great routesetting.

Fantastic experience: Cool climbing center, very new, very clean. Changing facilities and showers, fitness area! Great routes, with average grades (V1-V3, etc) which is very nice. Very different types of routes. Was there on a Wednesday evening and the place was not packed at all. Will definitely get back there

Negative experience: Asking to fill in information twice when registering online for the first time.

We appreciate your feedback, and we're working on improving our registration process to make it smoother and more user-friendly. Our sign up is made up of two forms, one for the account and one for the liability waiver. Due to the size of our centre it is hard to make room for in-centre bike storage without sacrificing climbing space which is hard trade-off. Hey Chris, thanks for the review and feedback! Our entry are prices are competitive with most nearby walls Vaux, City bouldering. We also have student deals running through the week (£8.50 entry + shoes before 16:00) and all day saturday! A great way to save on visits is also with our with our entry packs which actually cost lower than most nearby walls! We also feel with our offering of frequent and high quality route setting, events, bar offering justifies the price of single entry whilst also helping us be able to pay our staff a more competitive salary than most London climbing operators! Fantastic experience: Cleanest gym I’ve ever been to! Fun little basement gym with a friendly staff. The grading difficulty was a little too broad but the problems were quality.

Fantastic experience: A fairly new gym quite close to London Bridge and right next to Borough Market so it's good for post climb food related activities. Im not sure if there is air con but we went there on a hot day and it was much cooler in the gym, its also underground so this probably helps too. The setting is great with lots of variation in the movements and all the routes are graded in coloured sets. It has a huge spray wall and also one of the longest traverse walls I've seen.

Fantastic experience: I'm more of a sport climber than a boulderer but decided to check out The Font Borough during a recent London trip with non-climber friends. The staff was really friendly and chill. I enjoyed the safety test book - picking out what's wrong with the photos to make sure that you have a good understanding of safety. I went mid afternoon on a weekday so it was not crowded, which is how I like my climbing sessions. There was a good variety of boulder problems in all grade ranges and I enjoyed their approach to grading (color ranges) which encouraged me to try some harder boulders. The fitness area is on the smaller side but has everything you could need for functional mobility and strength training. The changing room and bathrooms were really clean. Would visit again. Also, the music was pretty great - not sure who was on the aux that day but their playlist was on point.

Fantastic experience: Fun gym with wide range of grades. I went there with collegues that had little to no climbing experience and they seem to enjoy themselves. The gym area is quite big but didn't try it our fully.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant boulder gym. I can only recommend it!!! Satff is very friendly, locker rooms are very clean and the boulder routes are extremely varied. There is something for all levels and climbing styles. Registration process was a bit long, but this was mainly due to the internet. Otherwise everything was really top. They also have a rather big „normal“ gym area. Thanks again!!

Fantastic experience: Great new gym in the centre of London. Being in a basement, the guys at The Font have utilised the space really well, you'd not know if no one told you. The traverse wall is good fun and the walls are regularly reset which keeps things interesting. The team at The Font are really friendly and welcoming and their social climbs are great to meet fellow climbers.

Fantastic experience: This gym is amazing, first visit and I loved it. Lots of walls to climb + a fully equipped crossfit like gym. The check-in was slow due to the security check they need to do for first timers. But everything else was just AMAZING.

Fantastic experience: Great place! I really loved the routes - it has not just only “modern style big colourful volumes”, but lots of more technical routes with nice sequences of “rock-like” moves. Absolutely enjoyed it. One small thing that could be improved - shower water temperature is tough to set)

Negative experience: Very clean changing rooms and toilets. I did not enjoy the route setting very much though - most routes were very straightforward in terms of technique and, as another reviewer noted, quite short. That would still be fine if the routes were interesting and exciting to solve. Unfortunately, I didn't think that was the case. I want to note that this speaks more about my preference for the style and not the quality of the setting.

Fantastic experience: Great technical problems, even the V1s were not straightforward "ladders". Good balance between slab/overhang/straight etc. Nice new facilities, good gym area. Has cafe/snacks at reception and pizza menu

Fantastic experience: Love this wall! Great location for both a climb and a social gathering after work or on a weekend. We went on a Sunday and the wall was nice and quiet. Route settings are true to Grade.

Positive experience: The Font is a refined bouldering gym in that they’ve made great use of the limited space. Placing some awesome challenging routes, however I can’t recommend this place for beginners! Which is a fairly big deal for me as I’m in a very mixed ability group.

Positive experience: Nice route setting. But more expensive then other gyms and no kilter, moon, LCC style woody. I think you need a good boards to get regular climbers. If your gym is this small.

Fantastic experience: A shiny new climbing gym located conveniently near London Bridge and Southwark stations. It has a small gym area and a decent amount of wall-space set for V0-V6+ difficulty, as well as other amenities like showers, coffee, and great ciders. The staff is helpful and lovely and the facilities are clean.

Positive experience: The location for this is really nice. But the place itself is quite small. The membership is more expensive than LCC for frankly less value. Also Monday evenings are really frustrating since they leave a wall empty: change the wall during the day please. I really want this place to be better but currently it’s not worth compared to an LCC membership.

We appreciate that with our centre being smaller, having an entire section of wall out of action for one day can be incredibly disruptive. We are currently in the process of changing how we manage the wall strip and setting to ensure that there is as little impact on climbers as possible. We are doing this by moving the strip to Monday evening/Tuesday morning rather than Monday morning. Regarding our membership pricing, our rolling monthly memberships are currently in line with LCC's pricing at £75 per month and include a variety of benefits such as: unlimited access to both our Wandsworth and Borough sites, guest passes, discounts in our cafe/shop and early bird tickets/access to select events. As we continue to grow as a business, you can expect to see more centres included in our membership. Negative experience: Huge disappointment from a new climbing gym. - Mediocre route-setting - low ceilings means short climbs and also you end up having to avoid lightbulbs at the top - no off-peak pricing like other gyms in the area mean you end up paying more than you would elsewhere
Hi Peter. Sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience. But we do value all feedback so thank you for the honesty. We would really value any further feedback you could provide on the route setting (via email to [email protected]) so that we can aim to make improvements. As for the ceiling heights, yes...we'd love to have more! We were keen to find a super central location and as you can imagine, that means it's not cheap! Going underground means we have rents that are viable in the long term and we do our best to maximise the height which does mean you then climb right up in to the ceiling. However, if you're looking for full-height walls we always have our Wandsworth which has a huge comp wall. On pricing, we have chosen to focus our discounts towards those who have financial restrictions and cater for this through our concessions rates. We have found off-peak timings often cater to those who can afford to work flexibly and actually excludes those who are least affluent. We do hope you give us another go, either at Borough or Wandsworth. Many thanks, The Font Crew

Fantastic experience: This is a brilliant climbing gym tucked away near Borough market. We came here for the first time last week and had a great time the traverse wall is a nice touch. There are plenty of good routes set by the excellent route setters. The staff are friendly and always up for a chat. Highly recommended and I'll definitely be coming back.
