Club Gym Wellness - Cambuslang

Negative experience: I joined this gym in person on Jan 19th.  I didn't get the email with details of downloading and using their app (you need the app to scan, and so enter past their turnstile) because they never sent it, and still haven't sent it.  I'd been told they were unstaffed between 10am and 5pn (which they didn't tell me before they took my money).  So I went down at 7am the next morning while they had staff present, to get them to send me the email, and to kill two birds by squeezing in an early workout.  This is where it started to go south. First, after bringing up my details, I was told it was me who didn't tick the right box to receive the email.  This wasn't the case as it was their own staff member who filled in the details.  Then I was told I had to download the app right then and there and fill in all the details, otherwise I couldn't get in.  I said can you just buzz me in and I'll do the app later.  I was refused with "we can't buzz people in every time", which was stupid because I didn't ask to be buzzed in every time.  It was my first visit to the gym after joining and I'd not used it at all yet.  It was 7am, who's got the patience for all that crap at 7am?  Messing about on a touch screen phone trying to enter details I'd already given these people the night before?  I messed about with the app for a minute and gave up.  Too frustrating.  I told them I wanted to cancel the membership.  I was told it had to be via an email because they needed it in writing.  I told them I didn't need to email to join, but give me a sheet of paper and you can have it in writing.  They refused.  Frustrating as hell.  I went home and sent them an email asking to cancel.  They replied saying I had to give them 30 days notice to cancel, and that I had to email them again and give my full name.  1, I had already given my full name at the bottom of the email, and 2, I was trying to cancel less than half a day after joining (which is well within the cooling off period for this kind of thing).  I emailed them back explaining this.  So far they haven't bothered to reply. So basically they want me to pay a full month's membership, plus a joining fee, for a gym I've never used?  Because they refused to buzz me in without downloading their app and being a dancing monkey for them at 7am.  DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!  These people are traffic wardens pretending to be gym staff.  They couldn't be more awkward, unhelpful, and incompetent if they tried.  I can practically guarantee that if you go to them with an issue they're going to tell you it's your fault then ignore you.  And who leaves a gym unstaffed between 10an and 5pm?  Who would do that?  It's open but nobody staff members are present?  What good is that to anyone?

Fantastic experience: Cracking gym - revamped few months back to a much better layout & all custom equipment good level of footfall too but never too busy !!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to Club Gym Wellness for a while now and I have to say it feels like a second home of sorts. The staff are friendly and helpful and you do not have to be a gym fanatic to work out there comfortably. Everyone is welcome! I love it and thank my lucky stars everyday the owners opened up in Cambuslang!

Negative experience: Bunch of scan artists who won't let you cancel a subscription. Redid the whole place and made it worse and then charged you more

Negative experience: Too much equipment squeezed into too small a space. Too much duplication of equipment that isn't used and too little of the equipment that is. Prepare to wait for equipment ( other than treadmills, plenty of those). No parking owned by the gym with half the public carpark restricted to one hour parking only and the other half as long as you need, but very busy, mainly taken up by staff from the council offices and shoppers.

Fantastic experience: Used to go to this place back when it was Energie Fitness and it was decent enough back then but nothing special. Recently started going back though now that it's under new ownership and all refurbished, and I've been properly impressed. The new equipment and machines are fantastic and there's are plenty of racks for those wanting to do barbell work. Really friendly staff too. Only complaint I have really is that the bench area for dumbbell work is really small, but I suppose that can't really be helped due to it being a small gym.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, brand new equipment kitted well for popular excercises with great staff with friendly vibe in the gym as well from members.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Plenty of new equipment, clearly a big investment has been made and it shows. Staff are always on hand to help with the new equipment. Classes are good as well. All in all its a pleasure to use.

Fantastic experience: CGW Cambuslang is everything I knew it would be & more! As a previous member of CGW Merchant City that had to leave due to permanently working from home after Covid, I had high hopes! I have not been disappointed. The kit is incredible & plenty of it. I’ve needed help with a few things & the staff have been so friendly & approachable. After training in my garage for 3 years I had lost my “mojo” 1 week training in CGW Cambuslang & it’s back!! So so happy

Fantastic experience: Fantastic layout with all new equipment. Staff are all very approachable and willing to advise on how to use equipment. Clean changing rooms with plenty of locker space and hot powerful showers.
