Fantastic experience: Spectacular Cotswolds resort. The entire family (7 and 5 year old) had a wonderful visit in late November. Kids club is great. Accommodations allowed everyone to have their own space. Food was some of the best we had in England. Staff goes well beyond expectations. Would love to come back.

Fantastic experience: We stayed at Calcot for our wedding night. We were greeted with congratulations, an upgrade, champagne on ice and gift chocolates. The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful, the facilities fab, the food delicious. We aren't regular spa-goers but would definitely return to Calcot. Thank you to everyone there for helping to make a great memory for us.

Fantastic experience: This was our second visit to Calcot and we weren’t disappointed. The service is above and beyond with all members of the team having a natural warm friendly personality. We enjoyed dinner in the brassier on both nights which had an amazing choice on the standard and specials menus. I cannot fault the food. Each course was delicious. The star of our stay was martin who’s a Person trainer. I’m not a gym goer but he understood the mission that I had a shoulder injury but I wanted to have fun and be put through my paces. He was so knowledgeable about rehab and injuries but certainly challenged my strength and fitness. The spa area and pool is lovely but beware this hotel has a lot of children staying, so avoid the pool at set times. I had a massage last time we stayed but to be honest the price is so expensive this time I didn’t bother. £125 for an hour is insane and they had a lot of availability on the days we stayed so maybe they’ve out priced people’s expectations. Would I stay again? Absolutely

Fantastic experience: I booked Calcot as a birthday treat for my sister and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish! The team were fantastic and looked after us so well, we enjoyed the spa facilities and had a delicious lunch, dinner and breakfast there as well. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful stay and the staff were fantastic! Five star service! We even got a tour around the grounds by the amazing groundsman who is so knowledgeable and passionate about his job which was lovely to see. We requested a dog room which was perfect, we got given Oxford which was an excellent room with its own garden. The room was clean, with lots of little extras including dog treats for Luna my dog and yummy snacks for me. The food in the Brasserie was superb, the snacks in hive bar were delicious and the spa was a perfect way to relax and unwind. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic experience: I went for a half day spa with my best friend - best day ever! From the minute we walked in the Spa we were treated like VIP's. My treatment was a massage, Adrianna has magic hands. We chatted first, she advised me on some oils to use and focused on where I needed the massage. After our morning in the Spa we went for lunch in The Brasserie, the service and food was exceptional. We are looking to book to go back for an evening spa near Christmas. Thank you to all the staff, front and back of house for making our time with you so memorable and relaxing.

Positive experience: On arrival, We were told we were too early as the spa does not start until 5.30!! This upset us, as this was a birthday treat. I had phone the spa that day, and it was suggested that we came earlier to be shown around and have a complementary drink because our treatments started at 5.30pm

Fantastic experience: We booked a day spa package including lunch and a massage and were flabbergasted by the entire experience, from A to Z: the restaurant was outstanding, with the waiters paying attention to every detail and going above and beyond to attend to our needs, the food very tasty, the setting absolutely gorgeous. The positive experience continued throughout our visit to the spa: every single member of the staff we crossed was welcoming and kind. The spa facilities - like the rest of the domain - are exquisite and had everything one could need. What a lovely treasure we found !

Fantastic experience: The only thing to keep in mind is that this is a historical building. Not all the rooms have air conditioning. They are spectacular, however, in their attention to detail, comfort and the spa is exquisite. We would LOVE to come back again!

Fantastic experience: Calcot Manor certainly deserves its four red stars. It proved the ideal location for our special Diamond Wedding family celebration. All rooms were superb, facilities excellent, and every meal of a very high standard. We received infinite help with organising our stay (including ordering flowers and two superb cakes). Each member of staff that we met on a daily basis was cheerfully obliging, fulfilling our every request instantly.

Positive experience: My wife and I stayed for a three day mid week break in July. The hotel is a boutique but has a fair number of rooms both in the main building and outbuildings that have been converted. Its overall very nicely kept and the bar and restaurant have a relaxed vibe. We went the first week of holidays which was a bit of a mistake given we weren't with kids but if you are with families then there is plenty to do and a well run kids club that keep the main areas of the hotel fairly child free. The grounds are really well kept and looked beautiful the time of year we went though I suspect it would look great any time of year. Food was very nice with good selection and daily specials to choose from though there are plenty of great gastro pubs around to try if you want to get out (particularly recommend the Falcon!). Service from the team was excellent and they couldn't do enough for you. If you want fitness facilities they are second to none - the gym ("health club" is more apt) is very well specified and has studios and classes. It would be five star for me except that the room (and first floor in general) was very warm and that meant constant juggling of air conditioning and windows open/closed. The team did try to help with this but I suspect there is a wider issue with heating. I would highly recommend you check if your room has air conditioning if you are going in summer months.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I stayed here for one night and it was delightful. We were upgraded to a bigger room upon arrival which was a lovely surprise. The staff - in both the hotel and the spa - were friendly and eager to help. The room was comfortable and clean with a generous sized bathroom. The spa was a thoroughly relaxing space and I was particularly impressed with the size of the swimming pool (often swimming pools in spas are too small to properly swim in). The treatment I had was excellent - thank you Aimee - and, as with all the facilities, the treatment room was designed for comfort and relaxation. Wandering around the grounds was an enjoyable way to pass some time and you can see how much effort the hotel is putting in to rewilding.

Fantastic experience: We dream of Calcot the greatest family hotel in the UK I'd wager and it has stood as the high water mark of comfort and style since Alexander the Great conquered Egypt and why not I say the cathedral sized rooms have every rustic comfort a man nay a family could desire and let me tell you we do not feel a squash or a squeeze in there and we return every year but before I move on do not forget to pick up the the little brush pencil and save that for a rainy day when you go out on the old trim trail which is a great morning of adventure to walk off the generous full English breakfast served with care and pride but sadly no beans so I must give the breakfast a small mark on the debit side of my review slate there without which I declare it would be perfect just like the evening meals which are beyond reproach especially the ham and the really big steaks but stop me please before I forget the great shining beacon drawing our great family back to Summer Calcot yes you are correct it is the spa itself which offers a haven a respite and a deep jacuzzi next to a smouldering hearth but where are the kids you say well I've dropped them in Play Barn which if you will allow me to be pedantic is not a barn but no less bodacious for that

Fantastic experience: Calcot is a very special place. My husband and I absolutely love staying here! It’s the perfect escape and the staff are always wonderful. As an example of how great the team are at this beautiful hotel, they upgraded us to the suite we stayed in during our wedding as a surprise on our first anniversary, with a bottle of champagne waiting for us, which was just so kind and made it so memorable for us.

Fantastic experience: Calcot is situated just outside Tetbury, not far from Highgrove. Rooms are reasonably priced, but as it was a treat, it was worth paying for a great location and to be waited on!

Fantastic experience: We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Calcot. Everything worked really well and the service was fantastic everywhere, nothing was too much trouble for the delightful staff. It's a very grown up hotel which is excellent for adults but also fully caters for children in every possible way. We stayed in Barnsley cottage which was a lovely two bedroom cottage with it's own private garden. Our kids loved it. Our kids (8 and 6) also loved the play barn, the outdoor play tipi and the climbing frame. The outdoor pool was a big hit too and very warm. My wife and I had really good massages in the spa and enjoyed the peace and calm there. The nature trail around the ground ds was good too and I enjoyed going off on a good 45 minutes walk. Food was also great with the kids enjoying the high tea (5 - 6 pm) and then we having a really nice meal in the restaurant each evening.

Positive experience: A girls 2 night stay. Fabulous service and friendly staff made our stay really enjoyable. Beautiful setting with the new gym area really exceptional. Rooms and some areas in need of some refurbishment. Be prepared for a quite a few children - behaviours dependent on the parents! There are loads of areas to relax and sit quietly. Unfortunately the weather was appalling when we were there so we had less opportunity to wander the grounds, but the setting is lovely !

Fantastic experience: Spent a great morning in the spa, it's a truly relaxing space. Loved the hot tub. We had a de-stress massage which was perfect and much needed! We also had a two course meal at the brasserie which was delicious. The cocktails are great!

Fantastic experience: My husband and myself recently stayed at Calcot for our 3rd wedding anniversary. We only live 4 miles away but we may well have been transported anywhere in the world for this blissful break,deeply immersed in the most beautiful natural scenery. What I particularly enjoyed was the 2 mile nature walk,which weaves around the periphery of the wildflower meadows surrounding Calcot.On my twilight meanderings,a barn owl silently glided past above my head,before letting out a screech and faded off into the dusk...a most perfect moment captured in time. The spa was so much more than we had anticipated..it boasts a large,comfortably warm indoor pool,a state of the art outdoor hot tub,sauna,steam room,and several sublimely decorated relaxation rooms with luxurious loungers.There is also a separate outdoor pool on site. The spa cafe offers the most interesting snacks and hot and cold drinks,all centered around providing health benefits aswell as taste..I had a Dirtea matcha latte made with coconut milk. There are several different menus depending on where you choose to eat,and as a person who is plant- based I felt very well catered for with well thought out choices using local seasonal produce. Our room,Devon,had a large, luxurious en suit bathroom,and was situated in characterful low rise barn convertion, and had everything we could possibly need for the perfect night's stay. We are already planning our return...thankyou ,Calcot,for providing the perfect backdrop to memories we will treasure forever.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic hotel and spa. We last went in 2017 and there have been lots of positive improvements since. We had a lovely and really relaxing stay. The service and staff were all terrific. The new gym is great. We will definitely be returning.

Positive experience: Had a half day spa here with my partner . Whilst it’s nice there are areas that need tlc and on a sunny day when the weather was nearly 30 degrees having the outside fire lit burning wood was not a great idea for the guests or the environment. The air was blowing the fire and covering everyone in smoke and ash . The staff were great and finally put it out . The gutters were full of weeds with evidence of long term water overflowing from the roof . Food was average and for a half day spa costing nearly £400 should have been a lot better quality , portion size and we were only allowed to choose two small courses and no drink or desert unless we paid extra and menu and drinks prices are on the steep side price wise . Our starter was overpowered by balsamic vinegar and was quite small. Our main was a fairly simple small chicken salad with what look like bagged salad leaves . Would be come again ? Probably not as there’s better value spa days with better food and drink included . Massage was nice though and staff friendly

Fantastic experience: Our experience at Calcot and Spa was second to none. Our room was not only very comfortable, it was stylish and stocked with lots of treats such as home made chocolates- just lovely! We celebrated with 12 friends for High Tea - which was delicious! We were looked after incredibly well and felt like we were staying with friends and not in a hotel at all. I would especially like to thank Holly on reception who went above and beyond and was just so kind and lovely to us, and David and his team in the Brasserie who looked after us all during our celebration high tea - thank you Calcot you deserve more than the five stars we can give here !

Positive experience: We came on Thursday to have a rest for two nights with the baby and stayed in generous room. At first everything was perfect. Good facilities for relaxing with the baby. The biggest disappointment was the second night which was terrible for us because of the alarm at 2 am, no one explained anything, so we didn’t know the reason and what was happening. Also the toilet in the restaurant was always not clean on the weekend. In general, if we spent only one day everything would be wonderful, we really liked the spa and the area.

Negative experience: Do not recommend. I booked my husband in for a 55 minute full body massage. For context he works at sea and travels a lot so I thought a massage would be a nice treat. What I did not expect was for him to have a masseuse, who after finding out he works at sea, to speak to him about 'Flat Earth Theory' and suggest a documentary for him to watch! I have attached a photo of his card if you don't believe me. Over £100 for a massage that was not quiet NOR relaxing. Do better at those prices

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful stay. Our children aged 4 years and 12 months really enjoyed it. Facilities were fantastic and kept our children entertained. Our room was extremely clean and well equipped, furnished to a high standard. Childcare at the den was fantastic, staff were friendly and the children enjoyed the activities. My husband and I were able to relax at the spa and enjoy some quality time together.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I went for an evening spa and it was perfect. Beautiful spa setting, very well kept. Great facilities, our favourite was the outdoor hot tub and fire. Service was excellent - drinks brought out to us. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The BEST spa back massage I’ve ever had. I had a therapist called Lisa, we chatted for a bit at the beginning but she assured me I would still get my full treatment time. The pressure was exactly as I liked it and the most relaxed I’ve felt in a long time. My partner had Laura and also had an amazing experience. AND if it couldn’t get any better - the food in the brassiere was incredibly tasty and again service impeccable.

Fantastic experience: A beautiful Cotswold hotel in a 17thC manor house. The rooms are lovely and ours had a view over the front lawn with rabbits and thrushes hopping about. It was very well equipped, with everything you could want. We particularly liked the (silent) fridge stocked with complimentary soft drinks and snacks, and the spacious bathroom. The lounges are very pleasant and the spa and gym facilities are outstanding, newly extended and refurbished in 2024. There are also footpaths and nature trails all round the fields belonging to Calcot, so you can do a walk of about 2.5 miles. However, you can't easily walk off the property. It is not a place to stay without a car unless (as in our case) you have friends nearby who can drive you to the station which is about 20 minutes away. Taxis are hard to come by. Breakfast was excellent. Lunch in The Hive also very good. Dinner in the Brasserie, however, was quite ordinary pub food at fine dining prices (apart from the wonderful cheese souffle). You can end up spending quite a lot at this hotel in fact. The staff were very good and the reception team kindly gave us an upgrade as it was a special occasion. We were very well treated throughout our stay.

Fantastic experience: An amazing hotel, spa. The level of service is exceptional and extremely organised and professional. The range of dinner menu options was extensive and every meal for our party of 8 was excellent. The staff are a great team, super friendly and I’m planning a winter trip next

Fantastic experience: If small details like the quality of curtains, comfort of seating, fabrics, loo roll and spoons mean something to you then you will love the Calcot! I also like that the staff keep the fires going in the lounge spaces, spa area and the court yard near the grain store. There is also fresh scented water in the different locations!! Please try the cucumber scented water at the HIVE it's delightful! I highly recommend the trail walk, get a sense of the landscape. Visit the tent in Spring and Summer! And if you have children BRING THEM! This is a family place... But it's also for the entrepreneurs! The conference and work spaces are amazing. You will want to work! I could go on, but I'll stop now.

Fantastic experience: Don’t post that many reviews but the time we had at Calcot was exceptional. From the moment Molly on reception met my wife and I we had the best service in the most beautiful surroundings. Now going to be our annual anniversary getaway! Thanks for wonderful couple of days!

Fantastic experience: I booked Calcot clay pigeon shooting with an over night spa break with massages for my boyfriend’s birthday. I cannot fault anything. Martin the teacher was amazing we felt so comfortable and relaxed and was really fun. would strongly recommend him and the class! He is definitely a lovely touch to the add ons! The spa was fresh and immaculate with lots of relaxing space. The outside hot tub with the fire on was a great touch too. I was extremely happy as we also got upgraded on our room to a cottage. Our room had a luxury bath and walk in shower. With lots of finishing touches. We also had dinner in the evening at the spa restaurant, I didn’t get the ladies name but our waitress was very happy to help and friendly. Calcot spa have the finishing touches down to a massive T. I would highly recommend and stay again! Thank you for making our spa break so enjoyable and luxurious, we will be visiting again!!

Fantastic experience: An amazing 1-night stay at Calcot. From the minute you arrive the place feels special, homely and warm. It’s a special set up to make you feel like you’re staying at a resort rather than a hotel spa. We used the facilities as part of our room booking, outdoor hot tub and steam room and sauna, a great touch if you book last minute and don’t have time to book any treatments. We ate at The Hive the afternoon we arrived, top quality food and wine with a relaxed feel for a small snack. Our room was upgraded which was great, the Devon room feels like your own apartment and has all the amenities you could need, including snacks! The Brasserie was our evening meal and it blew me away, some of the best food I have eaten and puts some restaurants to shame. An amazing stay and looking forward to returning for a little longer next time!

Fantastic experience: Calcot never disappoints and with the new gym it is even better! One of the best gyms I have visited. We stayed overnight in a generous room ( Norfolk) this time & I just love the attention to detail. Comfy bed, lovely linens, & big fluffy towels. The Aromatherapy Associates toiletries are lovely & the complimentary snacks are a nice touch ( as are the soft drinks & fresh milk for the Nespresso machine). We had a great day at the spa with a glorious afternoon tea. We also had dinner at the Brasserie in the evening & it was superb. A lovely way to celebrate your birthday & the staff made us so welcome - we look forward to returning soon!

Fantastic experience: Beautiful meal in a fabulous location. We were served by Bryn who was just perfect – attentive, polite and friendly. Food was delicious (I’m gluten free vegetarian, which can be tricky, but I struggled to choose!). Location is quintessential Cotswolds! A little pricey but nothing you wouldn’t expect. One small negative – both carparks were rammed! Guess we picked a busy weekend.

Negative experience: Overrated and extremely over priced. Wouldn’t recommend at all just feels fake. Best elevator music I have listened to on repeat in years

Fantastic experience: This was a treat for my daughter at the end of her maternity leave and we both felt totally relaxed after our visit. The hotel is tranquil with lots of cosy places to sit in peace. Every member of staff we had dealings with was extremely cheerful, friendly & welcoming. The Spa is equally peaceful, offering a wide range of treatments, and again the staff are great. The food is of a very high standard; beautifully presented & delicious. Nobody could have done anything more to improve our stay; everything was perfect. Thank you for a lovely 2 days.

Fantastic experience: I have stayed at Calcot & Spa four times and I can't wait for my next visit. I hesitated to write this review as I don't want the secret to get out of just how amazing this hotel really is! I have stayed as a guest once before having children, three times with children. Every time I have stayed it gets better. I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The hotel is beautiful, cozy and the attention to detail everywhere you go is immaculate. The spa is outstanding. The grounds are perfectly maintained and excellent for long country walks. The staff are very friendly and always helpful. If you stay with children, including babies, you will be amazed with how much this hotel does to accommodate your family. Nothing beats a creche on site! And readily available babysitters at virtually any time you need them! With that said, if you want to visit the hotel and feel like no children are on the premises - you can get that, too. There are dedicated times for children's meals and swimming, and there are clear spaces for 'adults-only'. This is far and away my favourite place to get away in England and I hope to return very soon.

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing Spa Day with some clay pigeon shooting our Instructor Martin was incredibly patient and encouraging and made an extremely cold hour an amazing experience. The food was great and the service was too. The rooms were lovely definitely on the to revisit soon list.

Fantastic experience: Me and my auntie came for a half spa day and we had the best time! The staff were brillant, Dominique did my massage with facial and she was AMAZING, can’t recommend her enough. We finished with lunch at the Brasserie where Sasha F served us, they were amazing and helped me a lot as a vegetarian. A note for other vegetarians, their Parmesan isn’t vegetarian despite dishes including it being marked as vegetarian (V) so stay aware.

Fantastic experience: Spectacular setting, very generous family suite (more than you can imagine) and great service, always with a smile. Excellent food in Restaurant and lovely town nearby. Definitely suggest doing the bike ride (bikes provided) and using the spa/pool. We will definitely be back.

Start to finish, loved every minute of it. All staff were so amazing and friendly, so accommodating to your every wish and willing to go the extra mile! Everything was executed very well. Fantastic experience: Perfect getaway for two nights with everything you could ask for! Tucked in a quiet location, this is the perfect place to relax and reflect. The rooms are wonderful, so wonderful you could spend hours in them just relaxing and reading! The food was incredible and facilities magnificent. We will be back!

Negative experience: Very disappointing stay this time. We had stayed at Calcot previously and always had a lovely time. However, it appears their level of service and concern for their guests has dropped off dramatically. Despite speaking with management both during our stay and after our stay a suitable resolution to our issue was not achieved. In fact Calcot did not even make an effort to respond to our concerns after we left demonstrating their level of care for their guests. Prior to this stay I would have raved about them, post this stay I encourage people to consider other options.

Fantastic experience: My fiancé and I visited the Brasserie at calcot as a pre wedding meal, it was absolutely wonderful, stunning decor, perfect atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food, highly recommend this place, the staff are an absolute delight and we cannot wait to come back and book the spa/hotel and return for dinner! Well done Calcot I am extremely impressed.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel, great stay, food 12/10 plenty to see in the area and some lovely walks around the grounds. Disc golf if you want some fun, or bikes if you would rather ride around.

Fantastic experience: Four of us went for afternoon tea. A beautiful and welcoming hotel and the tea was excellent as was the service. The cakes were amazing with lots of tiny detail reflecting Halloween and it was very good value for the price paid. Great choice of teas by the way.

Fantastic experience: An absolutely first class stay ! It was a totally high-quality treat for us ! There is an excellent welcoming atmosphere; from our first glimpse of the well maintained grounds, the friendly and efficient reception, and on to our superbly appointed room. Eating in the light and airy dining areas was a joy - with delicious food and attentive service, catering for our every whim and also dietary needs. The stay was extremely relaxing thanks to easy access to the spa and pool facilities. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Purchased a Spa afternoon for my daughter, who had to rearrange the date several times due to transport issues. The team were so accommodating and supported us in booking a date we could both visit Calcot Spa. We had the most fabulous afternoon, lunch was delicious, staff professional and courteous. The decor is fabulous and the surrounding area is just beautiful. I enjoyed very much a massage and facial from Valentine, who made me feel incredibly relaxed and looked after. Fantastic experience: Just went there to celebrate my mini moon after our wedding. Absolutely amazing place, the staff is really nice and went above and beyond. The spa is great, especially the outdoor jacuzzi with the fire next to it (definitely a plus). My wife and I had a 1hr treatment and it was just what we needed, really good treatment and the staff was also very friendly. it's definitely worth staying over.

Fantastic experience: We went to this hotel as four families (11 children) and it was amazing! They sat us together in a side room so we could relax and enjoy the incredible food. The staff were wonderful, really made the experience stress free. The children were welcomed, respected and enjoyed. The rooms had cute little welcome presents for them and the play barn was AMAZING, the staff were incredible at helping the more anxious children and they entertained all from 2-12. The even put on a cinema evening so that we ate child free. We will be back! Thank you

The level of service we received was the best we have ever had. The location, rooms and amenities balance a rustic get away with fine dining and self care and indulgence! We will 100% be back.

Fantastic experience: I went on for an back and all body massage, which I have to say was fantastic. My wife went in for a facial, which was equally impressive. As soon as we arrived, the service was top notch, made to feel at ease and relaxed before the treatments even began. And the cherry on the cake was going for lunch afterwards. Highly recommend going, and we'll be going back again soon. A fantastic experience.

Fantastic experience: Just returned from a wonderful two night stay & Calcot. One of those hotels where you can take the dog and (paying a supplement) still be in a smart/clean/comfortable room. The food in the Brasserie Restaurant was excellent as was the service throughout. Some thoughtful little touches like; complimentary snacks in the room, and on leaving for the homeward journey. We will certainly return.

Fantastic experience: Lovely spa day, have been on many spa days but calcot is by far the best, Lovely treatment & spa facilities, inly downside is that they have changed the conservatory menu to smaller menu for spa day customers & most was salad stuff, I'm not keep on salad, for what you pay for spa day should be normal menu included as always was, we weren't told about smaller menu at time of ordering & ordered from normal menu

Fantastic experience: Nice restaurant, friendly and attentive staff. The food was very good, the risotto was cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Positive experience: The ladies who did my facial and massage were absolutely incredible. Really top quality and good value for money. The facilities whilst clean, cannot compete with the standard of spas I was expecting to find. This is primarily because of the limited novelty of the spa facilities, they have a small steam room & small sauna and a small pool. The one redeeming quality is the jacuzzi with fireplace. It was not such an exciting visit and for a day spa it seemed a little too small. The staff where the winning factor here as they were professional and attentive.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been here twice. It is very grand and luxurious without any feeling of snobbery. The staff make you feel welcome. The spa and gym area are very nice and there are enough things to keep you occupied around the hotel grounds. The rooms are lovely and cosy. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff do make it special with a few complimentary extras The only small negative was at breakfast you have to order your toast separately and this is not explained so by the time you realise your breakfast is going cold before you get your toast. That aside, we have had two lovely stays here and would come back.

Fantastic experience: Attended an afternoon tea for two as a gift from colleagues. The location, its surroundings, and setting is wonderful. They decor a beautiful, clean, and well managed. The service was lovely and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We only had an afternoon tea, but it was plentiful and of the freshest ingredients. The whole experience was first class and most definitely a place I'd return to.

If you are looking for a warm welcome in an excellent establishment, serving delicious food and refreshments....this is the place for you. Fabulous historic building, which has been lovingly transformed into the perfect retreat. Staff are welcoming, attentive and helpful. Location is so picturesque & quaint. Also dog friendly, so you can bring your fur babies too! Perfect relaxing stay, which we will be repeating as soon as possible

Positive experience: A beautiful hotel with glorious surroundings but not without a few, minor issues. My husband and I stayed for 6 nights in June 2023 for a much needed couples retreat. FOCUS ON FAMILIES: Calcot is a hugely family-friendly hotel, in fact it's ideal for them! So if you're looking for an adults only experience it may not be for you. But we had some lovely interactions with families and just embraced this aspect. ROOM: We stayed in a Comfy room (Chiltern) in the main building. And it was very comfy indeed! It has a lovely view and was very peaceful, we slept very well. Fresh fruit, coffee, tea (including various herbal ones), milk and shortbread are complimentary - NICE! However I feel that design has been given much more importance than functionality, e.g. hardly any drawer storage and nowhere next to or above the sink for toiletries. Also, the wet-room style of the shower/bathroom floor tiling looks sleek, but the water doesn't stay in the shower area unless a bath mat is used to stop it escaping. However the hotel was very helpful in resolving what they could - i.e. a chest of drawers and a small table to go next to the sink were installed for us which helped considerably. Thank you Katie! NOTE: Aircon - our room had it, but I don't think they all do, so worth checking in hot weather. DINING: Food in both the Brasserie and Hive (daytime only) is extremely good. Service is also very good, however when it gets busy, staff stress/frustrations are evident to diners. This and the fact that some mistakes were made with our orders, is why I gave 4 rather than 5 stars for service. But hey, it's VERY good! BRASSERIE MENU: I was at a loss as to why so many of the Brasserie dishes contain truffle, so if you don't like it, choice would be limited. We discovered that we could order from the lunch menu for dinner if we pre-ordered, which was helpful. The hotel really does do everything it can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Big tick! Breakfast is fantastic! THE HIVE: Fantastic bar with great choice. Food-wise, we only had an afternoon tea on arrival - amazing sandwiches and meltingly delicious scones - lovely! INDOOR PUBLIC AREAS: There are a multitude of gorgeously designed, comfortable areas to use for relaxation and casual dining. It's never difficult to find somewhere peaceful to chill out. Newspapers and books also abound. And I swear there must be a full time cushion-plumper! The ONE area however that, in my opinion, is letting the whole hotel down, are the toilets in the Brasserie lobby. They are very tired and tatty. And again due to design details, are difficult to keep hygenic. A LOT of children use these facilities and the floor covering is soaking up the unmentionable! Unfortunately, high end toiletries do not compensate for grimy skirtings, tatty decor and an unhygenic environment! I hope something can be done soon - a full refit that overcomes these issues is needed. OUTDOOR PUBLIC AREAS: are excellent, plenty of places to sit with gorgeous views, lovely gardens etc. Tucked away is a heated, outdoor pool that's a good size. With a WC and pool towels provided and plenty of lounging furniture. There's also a phone to order drinks from the Hive bar. The pool is a big hit with families, so if you're looking for complete peace and quiet the indoor spa pool may be a better choice. We had wall to wall sunshine during our stay so used the outdoor pool area a lot. SPA: The best spa facility I've ever been to - clearly a lot has been invested here. I had three separate treatments, all were top notch. Great indoor pool, and a beautiful outdoor terrace with seating and garden area with a jacuzzi and loungers. There's also a cafe on the ground floor. If you're a spa-junkie, this is the place to go! RECEPTION STAFF: I just want to mention the fantastic reception staff. They took such great care of us and nothing was too much trouble. They are all so friendly and kind. Overall we had a hugely enjoyable, relaxing stay. The memory of the beautiful surroundings, indoors and outdoors, will stay with me for a very long time.

Fantastic experience: Mam and myself loved this place where we sat outside, which was great as we were in the shade, which was a relief. Also having dogs of my own, which were left at home, but they do welcome dog's with open arms. The cream tea's I would definitely recommend. Very tasty and very filling. Don't forget jam first, then cream on top is the Cornish way and cream first followed by jam is the Devon way.

Positive experience: The Spa is lovely, the premises are well looked after and clean. The staff is super nice and helpful. I took an aqua class which was extremely invigorating and I felt I had a good workout. I had a great massage with Lisa, very friendly and professional. I loved it!! I was gifted a half Spa day, so I also had lunch, which was delicious!

Fantastic experience: We stayed just for one night and wish it had been a longer stay – we will certainly return. The location of the hotel is excellent – close to major road links but delightfully positioned in the lovely Gloucestershire countrywide – close to the lovely town of Tetbury and the gardens at Highgrove. The hotel interior, the gardens, and the spa are all beautiful. We ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious. The service was friendly and professional, and special thanks go to Anya for such a warm welcome. Last but not least, the bedroom was delightful and we even received a room upgrade. The whole experience was outstanding, and exceeded every expectation. Thank you Calcot and Spa – we’ll certainly stay again soon.
