The Gym Group London Wimbledon

Negative experience: Shame i cant give zero stars! I had to freeze my membership at the start of October. Looked easy enough with a clear option on the Gym group app. When i stopped the freeze exactly a month later in November, I couldn’t access the gym without paying another £22.99 on a card via the app even though I had already been charged for October and paid an additional 6.99 for the freeze! I paid the money as I was outside the gym and wanted to go in. Later that day I called the payments telephone line and they advised that my account was not successfully frozen as I froze it on the day a payment was due/made and I should have called them? I explained that the app had successfully frozen my account and there were no further instructions to say otherwise, they made out it was my fault, yet this detailed information is not mentioned anywhere on your website or app? I called and called and spoke to many people at your third party payment provider service., when eventually a guy agreed ‘as a gesture of goodwill’ to give me Decembers payment for free. How can this be a gesture of goodwill when I hadn’t used the gym for a month and paid my full membership fees every month plus £6.99!!!! Total fraud and a rip off. I started to use the gym again last week. 21st November was my second time back in the gym since the freeze. I gained access easily via the app around 8.35am. When I went to leave around 40 to 45 minutes later I was declined exit by the app and my pin! The message on the app was… You do not appear to have access to this gym. If you have just changed your gym access please try again in a little while. (Code 3024) I waited for some time and tried both the app and pin again but no luck. No staff present, so I was stuck for a long time. I was about to break the fire alarm glass as this seamed to be my only option as I can’t leave with anyone else as there isn’t room in the capsule. Then by chance I noticed an off duty PT who I just happened to recognise. They let me out of the disability door. If it wasn’t for this how long could I have been trapped for? Do you not have ANY protocols for people that have entered the gym, should they not have the right to leave the gym regardless of any issues that may have occurred? They have no telephone number to call them on, none of my online messages have been answered and ive also emailed [email protected] without any reply. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Solid, but no calf machine

Negative experience: Very decent gym, great equipment and good floor space. However not exactable to have one your staff come over in the middle of a drop set and tell me 15kg plates don’t belong on the bench. Not only is this inconsiderate and impolite but also dangerous.please train your staff better

Positive experience: It’s a commercial gym so you can’t expect much but tbh this branch here in Wimbledon does the job excellently! The gym is clean and have all the equipment needed. Men’s locker room is small but tbh I don’t do peak times so there’s always plenty of space for everyone. (BUT PLS REFILL HAND SOAP DISPENSER WITH REAL HANDWASH) The app shows u also live attendance at the gym so u can monitor whenever is too busy (which is never too busy tbh) For that monthly price is an actual bargain.

Negative experience: Rude staff, lack of equipment and absolutely packed. No idea why they run classes at peak times as well! Madness!

Positive experience: Nice gym in a good location, but very small changing rooms, where half of the lockers don't work (can be easily opened by twisting when locked) - can you please fix it?

Positive experience: Used the gym for showering during our time camping in Wimbledon for the queue. Was awesome. Nice concept of a gym

Fantastic experience: Best gym in the area in regard to value for money - all the machines and weights you need plus the friendly staff make you feel welcomed and valued everyday. Special shout out to Theo & Gaby, knowledge is unquestionable and their love for their work is inspiring!

Positive experience: Gets unbearably hot in summer either the AC doesn't function or its rubbish. Usually a good gym, on the small side. Can get cramped and not much equipment

Negative experience: Good location, small gym but fairly empty at the time i’ve used it. This gym doesn’t provide any kind of hygiene equipment. You can sweat all over the equipment without any ability to sanitise after use ready for the next person. When raised with the management they’ve said it’s up to users to bring their own towel to clean machines down - without the use of any sanitiser. While things look clean, they’re not.

Positive experience: Small ish, busy ish, no phone service, wi fi not working

Fantastic experience: Hands down the best gym I’ve been to! Such good range of machines and it’s kept super clean and tidy. Dan the manager is amazing and I’ve been pt’ing with him for a few weeks now and have learnt so much fitness knowledge and gained so much confidence on machines I would never feel comfortable using as a woman in a gym. All the staff and members are super welcoming. 5*

Positive experience: Great gym with professional and friendly staff. I do classes mostly and they are sometimes I have to wait for treadmill but not for too long. The only thing I can complaint about are uncomfortable benches in changing room, I keep dropping my stuff between bench boards.

Fantastic experience: The staff are all so friendly, they make you feel welcomed each time. Which I find very important as I feel as though it motivates you to want to come back everyday!

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience here, I am a dancer and need to work out fairly quickly in between shows. I haven't had to wait for machines or experience any long waiting times for weights. I feel like everyone that goes there is super respectful and I get along with all the staff who are so helpful and seem to love their jobs, it makes a difference!!

Positive experience: Good gym, not huge but excellent selection of equipment. Only major con for me is that the treadmills are all in mph and you can't change to km. A 10/15m track with markings would have been nice for walking lunges or sledge pushes (as would having a sled in the first place). Overall, a decent gym.

Negative experience: Most of the basic equipment is there and in good condition as the gym is fairly new. BUT!!!! Sanitation is a totally different thing. There is no cleaning equipment to clean the gym machines with. I contacted the gym and was told they don’t plan to install any and that the equipment is being cleaned by the staff and that the gym members are being advised to bring their own workout towels. Very few do. Obviously the gym staff won’t clean after every person as that’s not sustainable, so meantime you have to work out in equipment drenched in someone else’s sweat. Also, i come in fairly early and seldomly see any staff on the gym floor. I brought my own wet wipes so now i can look like the crazy lady that does the uncommon thing and actually sanitises the gym equipment before and after use! For just a minimal spend, this could have been a great gym… but it’s not!

Positive experience: Great facilities but needs some type of cover from the windows as everyone stares especially when for females. No privacy.

I’ve been training with Can, one of the personal trainers ,for the past few months, and the results speak for themselves. He is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about helping his clients succeed. He took the time to understand my goals and tailored a personalized workout and nutrition plan to suit my needs. His motivational coaching style pushes me to challenge myself while ensuring proper form and technique to prevent injuries. With Can’s guidance and support, I’ve seen significant improvements in my strength, endurance, and overall confidence. I highly recommend Can to anyone looking to take their fitness journey to the next level.

Negative experience: I've only been in touch with one staff member (Can) and he was impeccable; my grievances are related to the internet services & users' etiquette. - Phone signal's blocked so we are forced to use the gym's wireless network on work phones, causing serious privacy concerns for those who are required to keep an eye out while they work out. Additionally, the signal remains jammed even after we leave the gym, until we turn the phone off and on again. - Only about 1 out of 20 patrons bring towels with them. There's always someone else's sweat running down seats and headrests. - Many patrons try unapologetically & shamelessly to jump queues, deliberately ignoring those already waiting for a seat. - Various patrons dilly-dally on their phones, occupying places for longer than 20 minutes for little to no working out - and have the gall to act annoyed when people around start getting impatient. I believe the above wouldn't be as much of an issue if there was supervising staff in the premises, which never seems to be the case.
