It doesn’t matter if you have never trained before, are a seasoned gym-goer, or just ready to take your training to the next level... At The Basement, we can guide your growth, coach you where you want to go, and help build a better you.

The Dynamo Project is an independent, not-for-profit, charitable organisation. Based in Coventry, they offer support for individuals who are experiencing difficulties with addiction, whether it be drugs and/or alcohol misuse. 

At the basement, we are passionate about helping people become the healthiest, happiest version of themselves. We believe everybody has the right to good health and to feel happy with themselves inside and out.

Our focus is on creating a friendly and supportive environment in which people can identify and reach their fitness goals through a personal and purposeful training programme.

Fantastic experience: I can not recommend the training Phia provides highly enough. I’ve struggled with pain in my left knee for a while and Phia tailored my training around it. Her knowledge of training techniques is second to none. I really enjoy her sessions and learning the correct postures and body shape when lifting weights.

Fantastic experience: I hated gyms before I started going to the Basement. Now, the small groups I join three times a week are the most important part of my week. Phia knowledge and style of coaching is great. Completely changed the way I train and the way I think about my body.

Negative experience: Phia may be a lovely person. I have not had a chance to get to know her closely but her customer relations need a huge upgrade. It seems like she has enough clients so is not bothered to respond to enquiries. If someone does not show a potential client a jot of respect, I am pretty sure that this dangerous approach has already started undermining the current structure. Thank you Phia for saving me from spending a fortune.

Fantastic experience: Needed additional support due to surgery. Starting working with Phia. I have now managed to regain full mobility of my left side, which was limited. I’m now a regular client as I love how much better I feel and how much fitter I am. I didn’t think I could accomplish what I have. Thank you Phia!

Fantastic experience: This gym is literally a hidden gem! It is a modern and well equipped space and is perfect for small group classes. The classes are friendly and caters for all abilities and not intimidating in any way. It focuses on strength and isn’t all burpees and jumping around ( although the HiTT and boxing classes will get your heart pumping!) I have been attending since May and have lost a stone since an operation. Although that is great, I have increased my fitness, knowledge and definitely got more confident and stronger, which I would not have done independently in a gym environment . The ethos is consistency and this is probably the first time in years I have stuck to attending religiously and it has definitely paid off. Phia the owner is amazing and the heart of the place and motivates everyone so well and uses her expert knowledge to help with injuries and ‘how to’. There are also a few other lovely trainers that bring something different to the timetable.. Highly recommended place to work out

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for over a year, starting with one session a week and quickly increasing to two. Never have I ever stuck at exercise as long as I have since joining The Basement. It’s no longer an exercise routine, it’s just my lifestyle now. Classes mean I can’t get bored because there’s always someone by my side, but small enough to know I am being coached, corrected and perfected by the PTs, they don’t miss a trick! Phia has taught me about macros and the types of foods to eat to help me feel my best. Honestly, I have never felt as confident in my physical abilities as I do now, and I’m in my 40s. I’m no athlete, far from it, but I understand my body and what it can (and cannot) do now. It might sound like a cliché but it’s the truth, my life changed when I sent my first message to Phia asking if I could come along and I do not regret it.

Fantastic experience: Bespoke gym with high quality equipment with friendly supportive staff and clients…. I’ve been members of various high street type gyms over the years but could never find the motivation after a few weeks to go regularly enough to see results I wanted… after joining The Basement over 6months ago I have never regretted a work out there! Phia’s knowledge and encouragement has given me the confidence in strength training I have never been able to achieve elsewhere. Am seeing great results and never get bored as sessions are changed up regularly.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been training at The Basement since the day it opened. It’s a totally different experience to a regular gym as it has a personal not corporate feel. Phia ( owner and trainer) makes everyone feel welcome and her knowledge and support are second to none.

Fantastic experience: The Basement is a great training facility and the coaches are fantastic. The small group sessions are big enough to create a great group training atmosphere whilst being small enough that everyone gets individual support. I joined a month ago and everyone has been so welcoming. Phia has a great training / nutrition ethos and I’m so excited to keep going with it. I had not trained in a while and the coaches were great at helping me get back into the swing of things. I think the sessions would work for people of all fitness levels as they can easily be tailored to individual needs.

Fantastic experience: I joined The Basement 12 months ago following the birth of my second child. I’ve always exercised and been relatively fit but my second pregnancy really took its toll on my body this time. As a result I felt completely unconfident and unsure on what I should and shouldn’t be doing in terms of recovery and increasing my fitness again. Phia and the team at The Basement have been instrumental in my recovery. They truly are fantastic in everything they do. Through weekly 1 on 1’s and some small group classes occasionally, I feel more confident, fitter and definitely stronger!! Would 100% recommend The Basement

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of the Basement for 6 months now and Phia has completely change my mindset regarding exercise and food. Before, it was always with a view to lose weight which coincided with being too strict with food, setting unrealistic goals and then feeling like I’d ‘failed’. But joining the Basement has helped me understand the importance of setting achievable goals, fuelling my body for the workouts and creating a sustainable schedule that fits in with everyday life. I no longer measure my results by a decreasing number on the scales, but on being able to work with a heavier weight/push myself more in the sessions, improve my form and feeling amazing after a workout (never in a million years did I think pushing a heavier weight would feel better than dropping a few pounds!). Strong not skinny! My diet has improved massively and I can see and feel a huge difference, mentally and physically. The small group sessions ensure everyone gets the 1-2-1 input to work towards their goals, make sure their form is correct for maximum impact and push themselves with the added bonus of doing it in a fun and friendly environment - sometimes it feels more like a social! The range of classes, Monday to Saturday from 5am to 8pm and the micro-gym (slots all week) make it easy to fit sessions in regardless of what my week looks like. Phia and the other trainers are amazing and put 100% into every session. Can’t wait to see what results the next 6 months bring!
