Fantastic experience: I’ve been training at retro for around 2 months now and I have to say it’s one of the best gyms in the area with great staff I would highly recommend this gym to both newbies and regular gym goers!

The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and equipped with a wide variety of machines and free weights that cater to all fitness levels. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help with a smile. What really sets Retro Flex apart is the community atmosphere — everyone here is supportive and motivating, making it a great environment to achieve your fitness goals. The group classes are fantastic, and the personal trainers are top-notch. If you’re looking for a gym that combines excellent equipment, a welcoming vibe, and passionate staff, Retro Flex Gym is the place to be. Highly recommend! And the fact that my wife feels comfortable here it’s defo thumbs up for us.

Nothing seems to much trouble. All equipment is clean and in full working order. New additions are regularly incorporated. Very glad I joined this gym costs are very resonable and won't be moving.

If being critical it would be adding a few more grip attachments because sometimes you’re wondering around trying to find the piece you’re after. Would and have recommended to many friends. Fantastic experience: Trained here for a month whilst being back from university for the holidays. Super well equipped gym, with very high quality machines. The staff were super friendly and always on hand for any assistance. The overall dynamic of members that train here was friendly but committed to the gym, so felt everyone was invested in getting better. I will be coming back again. One last thing - the lighting is amazing.

Negative experience: WOW WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! I was really excited about joining this gym with it being relatively new to the area. I joined the gym in January 2024 using their discount code for the first month. When it come to payment being taken out of my account I found out I had been fully charged and the discount code had not been taken off. This was very frustrating but I assumed if I was to send an email to the management team explaining the situation they would have at least investigated the issue of overpaying. Especially with me being a new customer and them expecting everyone for the month of January to be paying less using the discount code being promoted. After receiving no reply to my email I was left to no choice but to address the issue at the front desk with Tom (Manager/Owner) in his response to my issue he stated “Oh you’re the person who sent the email…. Yeah you are not having a refund it’s your own fault!” I must say I was utterly speechless for him to not even have the decency to respond to my email but tell me he had seen it I was appalled! He clearly could not care less about “his” paying customers. In my response to this I had no other choice but to accept what he said. I found him very aggressive and confrontational in this conversation I imagine it is not the first time this experience had happened to him. So after having such a bad experience on my first week I knew I did not want to continue my membership for the following month, but I was still hoping to enjoy my experience for the remainder of the month. Unfortunately my experience did not get any better as I felt such a unwelcoming presence every time I walked through the door and I just got made to feel very uncomfortable during the time I was working out. In terms of the gym itself and the equipment the only positive thing I can say it is very clean/tidy and the condition of most of the equipment is like brand new, other than that the gym equipment is no different to what you would find in the likes of the gym group JD, pure gym etc just a few extra mediocre machines. A few other things to mention they have (1) Ez Bar, no small weighted plates like you would find in a normal commercial gym, they have (0) 1kg plates and a total of (4) 2.5kg plates, which is very frustrating if you are someone who likes to progressively overload and push themselves that extra bit, you are also not allowed to use chalk when it’s suppose to be body building gym and if you are a female reading this they only have one very small changing room which is mixed gender and often full of males. This was definitely a first for me, as I never experienced that at previous gyms. So my final thoughts on this gym are DO! NOT! JOIN! unless you are related to the owner Tom or his crew, as you will be made to feel outcasted and not wanted very quickly.

Fantastic experience: Wow what a gym, retro flex is the best gym in the area ive joined other gyms and decided to leave them due to over crowded and waiting for equipment but retro has plenty of top quality equipment and plenty of space to work out. Staff are really friendly and there if you need a hand or information.

You rlly get a family feeling with retroflex not only r the staff great the members there are great too. Highest quality gym equipment around the West Midlands and always clean. Don’t be swayed in your decision to join retroflex by some knobhead that got kicked out of jd gyms and cries when he needs to move his car because it’s in the way. 10/10 gym you really do pay for the quality. Been going to this gym since the second month it was open and never fails to impress, had multiple different pieces of equipment added since I’ve joined on top of the already quality. All in all best gym about highly recommend

Fantastic experience: I have used many gyms in the area and I have been a member at RetroFlex since mid last year and have yet to find any complaints about it. I have always been greeted with a pleasant welcoming, good conversation and friendly staff. The look of the gym is great, always clean and different to others. The gym offers many, far more than most, different types of equipment which I have never had any issues with. In the rare occasion I have seen there has been a minor problem with any piece of equipment, it has been reported quickly and fixed just as so. All in all a fab place to train, very much recommended

Fantastic experience: What a great clean nice looking gym. Every piece of equipment working. No sorry broken or out of order signs anywhere. Tom the owner very knowledgeable and happy to give advice. Other members of staff very polite and helpful. Not the cheapest around but you do really get what you pay for. Looking forward to my summer body. ☀️

Negative experience: Utterly disappointed with my experience at this gym I must say. I joined in January 24 alongside my training partner. The main attraction to us for joining this gym was the 'new member offer' which was available to new members only, slashing the price from £30.00 pcm to £10.00 for the first month. All seemed great at face value until my friend discovered a seemingly obvious fault after checking out whereby mentioned discount was not applied (despite applying it) and he was charged full price. The most disappointing part of all of this, was the lacklustre customer service shown by Director/manager Tom. The initial email sent to Tom raising this issue was ignored, and when approached in person, we were given a rather unsatisfactory response. With great reluctance, we had to move on from this, as Tom made it very clear by ignoring our email and frankly ignoring our feedback that this was not going to be investigated in its entirety, which you think it might, considering it's a new gym and we were new customers. Clearly good customer service isn't at the summat of the company's core values! (If there is any) I shall elaborate on this by saying the general attitude from all staff members seems to be reflective of that of Tom's which would make sense, as generally company standards are set at the top and trickle downwards. There were multiple occasions where we found the members of staff abrasive and thus difficult to deal with. On one occasion in particular, my friend was confronted and told to "park more appropriately" with no further comment or elaboration may I add. Quite a rude way to ask a paying customer to re-park his car if you ask me. I as a witness will add that there didn't seem to be an obvious reason to be asked this, but we were left to guess unfortunately, as once again no further comment from Tom. I personally had quite a memorable experience with manager Tom, and this was concerning the direct debit payment structure. Little did we know, you are required to give 30 days notice when terminating your contract, which in all fairness is stated in the smallest possible text in the T&Cs which I later learnt. I prematurely cancelled my direct debit, as my original plan was to stay for the month of January and then move on for February. I must’ve cancelled around the middle of January just for context. I was pulled to one side by Tom when he saw the direct debit was cancelled and I was told that I would have a visit from the bailiffs to collect any outstanding debt if the direct debit was not reopened... would you believe ....!? I know... crazy right? In regards to the equipment, average at best in terms of quality and variety, certainly doesn't justify the £30.00 membership price. Particularly so, as much of the same equipment is offered less than half a mile away at at everyone's favourite.... The Gym Group! (at half the price) I will conclude by saying steer way clear from this gym unless you are "part of the clan" so to speak which was evident with some of the members but clearly not us. From someone who has experienced all gyms at both ends of the spectrum, this one certainly falls into the "overpriced and under performed category"

Negative experience: If you're looking for a treadmil type gym fine, but if you're a lifter, best avoided. It has a "no chalk" rule, which they tell you once you've paid for your day pass
