Fantastic experience: Recently joined after being curious about UF and being told it's the best gym in York and have been quite blown away by how good it truly is! I am a seasoned gym goer who took a year off after various things and then moved halfway across the world in October, but feel comfortable, settled and happy at UF (even though I'm trying to find my feet again with working out)! The staff have been really helpful when I've needed to chat to them, the gym is clean and has some lovely members. It may look intimidating from the outside, but it's truly the opposite. I'm quite an anxious person who is introverted and even I feel quite comfortable here, so don't let external looks and the physiques of hard working members deter you from joining. For the females, they usually have feminine hygiene products, hair ties and Bobby pins in the bathrooms, which is great! They have an on-site barber, a physio and just a generally great vibe. The only downside is that there isn't a refillable water station (and I drink a lot of water while working out) and sometimes it can be a little busier than Google says it is, however, these are small things that shouldn't stop you from at least checking it out! Love this gym and am so happy to have joined!!

Negative experience: Attended for Brazilian jujitsu classes. While Dustin was a fantastic coach the gym was terrible. I parked there on 3 occasions in a week and spoke to people on the reception desk who showed me where to go. I later received 3 parking fines from the gym and was sued by the gym for parking there. I spoke to the manager who said they'd cancel the fines as I showed evidence I'd paid for classes there with email receipts. They didn't cancel the fines, they sued me anyway. I've never been so disgusted by a gym in my life. Dustin you should relocate yourself.

Negative experience: I got a £155 parking fine and solicitors letters threatening me with court. I parked here for my first ever class (I’m not a member and it was my first time here). Arriving at the desk I was shown where the class was that was that. I later received an email from a solicitor claiming I had already received a £100 parking fine letter (not that I’d seen) and the fine was now £150. I wrote back with proof of attendance thinking, as this was an honest mistake, and I was a paying customer they would let me off. I then received a further letter stating, ‘Thank you for your correspondence and apologies for the delay in responding. We write regarding the outstanding parking charge you hold on our files issued to the vehicle registration YHXX XXX. We note the content of your correspondence that you attended the gym however, the signage at the site clearly states 'All vehicles must on included on an authorised user list. Ultraflex customers, please enter your vehicle registration at the kiosk provided inside the venue on each visit'. As no registration was found for your vehicle to authorise your stay the terms and conditions of the site were breached and charge incurred. In view of the above our Client remains satisfied this charge was issued correctly and full payment is due.’ I never saw any signs, I was never alerted by anyone at the front desk to any signing in policy and despite being a genuine customer and this being a honest mistake they still proceeded to fine me. Absolute joke.

Fantastic experience: I've been at Ultraflex a couple of years now and it's the best gym I've been a member of! The staff are friendly and helpful. My only gripe isn't even in the gym itself. It's outside. The facilties for locking a bike up aren't great. They have racks on the floor but they would be more useful if they were the bigger ones so you could at least lock a bike frame to them.

Fantastic experience: I made the switch to ultraflex in the new year and I’m usually quite skeptical about joining a few gym but I was shown around by Alysha and she was very helpful in giving me information about all the equipment in the gym and answering any questions that I had. Having good a service experience like this is very important to me and I feel very comfortable in this environment.

Fantastic experience: Made the move to UltraFlex almost a year ago now - best decision I ever made. Its easy to be daunted in these bodybuilding gyms but stepping out of globogyms into this facility has been an absolute game changer. The kit is incredible, guaranteed amazing workout every time. It's a welcoming place, I've never felt judged, it's just a place where everybody is there for the same reason - it's full of polite members and friendly staff and it's an environment that just breeds focus and drive. Recently under new management and its been great to see the step up, there's a real commitment to making this an even better place to train and a better experience for all. Very grateful. Love this place.

Positive experience: One of the best if not THE best gyms I’ve been in but the changing rooms really let it down, showers are grim and constantly blocked. Trained here nearly a year now and still nothing long term gets done about it, in serious need of a revamp.

Lots of weights New shower Overall clean Lots of meal prep options On-site physio Staff friendly Heard the PTs are good Good value Parking Central location Nice in summer with doors / walls open No people hogging machines whilst they sit on their phones Lots of shakes etc available if that’s your thing Negatives: Nowhere to stretch / warm up / cool down Basic toilet can sometimes be a mess (toilet rolls on floors etc but that’s customers not staff) Hot in summer Locker area is very full - there’s been the same dirty workboots in a bag drop space for over 2 months. The machines are a bit grubby in places It can be intimidating if you’re not a bodybuilder / self assured with your workouts (I’ve known friends be scared off) although I’ve found it welcoming enough (I’m distinctly average physically) I’ve listened in to a few conversations about procuring performance enhancing drugs particularly upsetting when I’ve witnessed men explaining how to steroid cycle to lads about 18 yo. Known a mate develop an ED (too much protein, supplements, no fruit, steroids) and subsequent health problems after training w/ regulars there Sunbeds unhealthy obviously

Negative experience: The gym equipment and facilities are great, one of the best gyms I’ve been too. However, the website states that the parking is FREE, but instead I got a £100 parking ticket. Disappointing that a business would mislead customers.

Fantastic experience: This is definitely not an economy option - £9.25 for a day pass - but this has to be one of the best equipped gyms I've ever been to, so it was well worth it. The range of machines and equipment they have is emense and its modern, well maintained and clean. Even the dumbells are racked in the right order. The place was busy, but there were still no waits for machines.

Negative experience: Will remove this review when my issue is resolved. Gym is good. However. Not telling paying customers youve randomly installed an ANPR camera an I have a £100 fine is absolutely shocking. The phone when calling isn’t even working it doesn’t go through and my emails haven’t been answered.

Fantastic experience: Really good gym, on-site barbers and physio (can personally recommend Regan physio having used it multiple times). Equipment is by far the best in any York gym with plenty of options for machines so never stood waiting. Excellent dumbbells with choice of thin/thick handles. Plenty of grip choice for pull days. 5 stair masters so excellent for cardio. Gym community is one of the best, very good mixture of male/female members who are all friendly. Only downside….. Owners could do with showing more interest in the gym, most expensive ultraflex gym but but very little re-investment compared to all other ultraflex gyms.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I’ve ever been to. More equipment than you’d ever need, weightlifting platforms, a sled lane, rowing machines / wattbikes / stairmasters. You won’t find a gym with a better vibe, staff and members all so friendly.

Negative experience: Best gym in York. Pay £48 a month and they don’t have WiFi. This winter of 2022/23 is pretty bad. On a morning it is stone cold and hard to train to keep warm. It is constantly cold all day long, and the shower facilities seem to pack up every 2/3 months due to blocked drains.

Negative experience: very a few cardio machines, very crowded as not specious at all. You literally need to wait in peak times to use some machines. Very rude staff, they forgot to register me on their system to sign in when entering the gym then got pulled from the middle of my session to be checked and their cause! The satff must have been lazy when I registered! He doesn't even bother apologising, very rude and disrespectful. Other gyms in the area are cheaper and much better and also 24/7. this my first and last month.

Fantastic experience: UltraFlex is an amazing place to workout and the staff is super helpful, encouraging, and friendly. They know how to push you to the limit in the best way possible with your workouts. This gym has the best energy, staff, and feel. Everything is so clean , you will not leave disappointed! Such a family vibe as soon as you walk in the doors – I highly recommend checking this gym out.

Excellent range of equipment, including a machine for every fibre of muscle in your body, and plenty of spots so there is space to do your workout even at peak times. I’ve dragged many a friend here and couldn’t recommend it enough. Do as I did; buy a week pass and never look back.

Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities and nice staff, however there are two things that need improving, the mens toilet always smells really bad, it doesn't help that the windows don't open so there is no ventilation at all. Also point two, there's no cold water dispenser available, I was told I need to get the water from the toilet tap by one member of staff Please have this sorted it will make a hugely, positive impact as I dont think this is quite the standards you'd expect of a gym of this calibre.

Fantastic experience: Me and my girlfriend drove all the way from Stockport (Manchester) it took us nearly 2h and it was worth it. It is an Amazing gym with state of art equipment, great atmosphere, great music (no need of head phones:)). We were like kids in a candy store, trying out the equipment. If that gym won't motivate you to give your best, nothing will. Next time we are planing to do "the gym crawl" to check out all Ulra Flex gyms in the area :D If we would live in area we definetly be living in that gym

Fantastic experience: I use this gym everyday and it’s an absolute god send for York, the staff there are excellent and always looking out to help you with your goals. From the staff behind the counter to the trainers also there are excellent sports massage options from in house to Sophie who works from home I’m always greeted with a smile every morning so I will keep using this gym and all it’s other north east gyms 10 / 10 And that’s from a avid gym goer

Negative experience: I left this gym because for a gym with hundreds of members there is only 20 parking spaces in the car park with no over spill car park and no street parking as it's in the centre of the city so I was not able to gain access. So the gym was not providing the "all access" membership contract that they provide. I am now being harassed by ashbourne management and a bailiff organisation trying to scam £250 out of me. The morals and standards of this company as well and ashbourne management are appalling.

Positive experience: Pros-Very well equipped. Loads of variety. Big gym never waiting. Cons- young lad on reception wasn't most welcoming. Quite a few (10 men), which tbf isn't gyms fault, although they did sign them up. Would give gym 5 but members let it down for me.

Really pleasant and helpful staff, amazing equipment, members are all really nice and chatty and very respectful of work out space and gym cleanliness/tidiness, loads of area space, cardio is separated on upstairs balconette which I really like, theres nothing worse for me than dying a horrific death on a cardio machine in full view of everyone in the whole gym! Prices are cheap for what you get in my opinion in comparison to some gyms of this calibre you get a lot for what you pay for, offers a studio, hairdressers, sunbeds and healthy food and drinks at reception. Changing rooms are immaculate and very modern. Incase you cant tell I love it here. Highly highly recommend.
