Positive experience: Nice gym with a great selection, and the staff and other gym users seem friendly, so I don't feel judged.

Negative experience: One of the sole reason of going to this gym is because of the sauna. When it switched to 24 hour the times were you can go in are now limited. Now as the PTs shut the gym sauna at around 8 on a week day, I have found myself having minimal time in the sauna. It is even worse on week days it shuts at around 1. This is very frustrating as I have a very limited schedule. If this could be resolved to when it would be appreciated. Thanks

Fantastic experience: I've never been a member of a gym before but decided to join in order to prepare for upcoming hip replacement surgery, especially as I'd stopped playing tennis and pickleball due to the hip issues. Great decision. I could still train quite hard on the exercise bike without too much pain for example (pre op). I was back in the gym for the first time post surgery within a week! Just incredibly gently to start with. It's given me a focus to my rehabilitation and I go there most days (the short walk there helps too). The staff gave me a very good introduction and I'm confident now in using the equipment. Still only 3 weeks since surgery but I'm pushing a tiny bit harder each day hoping to get back to tennis and pickleball sooner rather than later. It's great for goal setting and targeting. The staff are friendly and helpful and it's rarely too busy. I've even made new 'friends'!

Negative experience: If I'm being honest this is a pretty terrible gym which claims to have "a strong focus on customer service" which is completely false. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone unless you're a retired old women because that's the only people they seem to care about. The contract system is also a complete scam as they always require you to pay an additional month even if you have no intent to continue training. Like seriously who plans on quitting a gym a month in advance like its just ridiculous. When you do finally cancel you have to go through about a million emails just to actually cancel your subscription. Especially if you're an elderly gym user I can understand how this may be difficult. The gym itself is also far to small to see any real progress if you plan to have a similar physique to any of the instructors. A lot of the machines have fairly tatty leather on them which can sometimes be very irritating and uncomfortable when using. Honestly I just don't recommend this gym its far to small, the customer service is poor and the machines are pretty tatty. There are plenty of much better alternatives including the leisure centre if you just plan to stay fit or the the grow room in Tortworth which is far better for gaining muscle.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend this gym enough!! As a newbie I was very nervous about joining. Its the best decision I made. The gym has all the equipment you need and always has stations free. The staff are amazing and every single one approachable. I have been having PT sessions with Lewis who has been amazing. He has a huge amount of knowledge, has given me a lot of confidence and pushed me to meet my fitness goals. Whether it's weight loss or building muscles, he knows everything there is to know and will go through everything you are doing in detail. Could not rate this guy any higher!!! Love this place!!

Fantastic experience: More than just a gym! Whilst there is all the equipment and advice you need to get/keep as fit as you'd like, this is also a place where everyone feels welcome. I've seen all ages from school students to elderly and people of all levels of fitness from serious trainers to those who just want to keep mobile. Russell has created a real community amongst the members with classes and events open to all members. I'm definitely not a lycra clad goddess but I can thoroughly recommend Elite Fitness.

Negative experience: I’ve been a member of Elite for more than 3 years. I was surprised tonight that my comments about how cold the gym was with the windows open at -2 degrees were received by a member talking with Russel as ‘work harder’ and by Russel that nobody else has said anything. Everyone in the background were commenting on how cold it was and nobody felt open to be able to say it. I went in tonight on my birthday very happily and left unhappily and left and paid to go to another gym that had no similar issues to deal with. I am generally a robust character but my gripe here was the assumption that it was my issue alone and I was treated as having an issue rather than attempting to address the point I raised.

Fantastic experience: It is so satisfying when activities challenge then you give yourself a high five when you achieve more than you expect especially when you are 70!

Fantastic experience: I value my membership of Elite fitness because it helps to keep me fit and healthy, the equipment is excellent, the gym is well managed and it is a friendly environment in which to train. It managed the pandemic very well providing the controls to protect gym users and keep them safe from the virus and I applaud them for their diligence over a very difficult period.

Fantastic experience: Great small but well equipped gym, covers all my needs and much more. Staff always friendly and willing to help if required. Been a member for several years and enjoy the fact that the gym really does cater for everyone, all ages, abilities and also the desires of those wishing to use the gym. Whether your desire is be get cardio fit or build muscle, its a gym with no ego and a genuinely open and friendly place

Fantastic experience: My wife and I, both in our 70s, have been members at Elite Fitness for well over a year and try to visit 3 times a week. Every single one of the staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. Russell is a great leader and communication between the staff and customers is first rate. The gym is clean and extremely well equipped. Having the free car park opposite helps too!

Fantastic experience: Great location, public car park opposite, in my case I walk from the outskirts of Thornbury around a mile or so, same on return journey. Loosens me up. Friendly and helpful staff complete with appointment based Physiotherapists. Very nice group of people that go there, good selection of stations to have a good workout. Can tailor your schedule on an individual basis. I have been a member there since 2007, would not change. Well recommended. Go and see Russell, Matt or Jack.

Positive experience: Ellite Fitness has very helpful and friendly staff with a good variety of fitness equipment, from cardio to free free weights. You could not feel out of place in this fitness suite if you were a old lady or a young lad wanting to make some serious muscle gains. It is easy to get to just off Thornbury high street with plenty of parking near by. What is disappointing with this gym is the reliance for a smith machine over a squat rack. I feel Thornbury deserves at least one gym with a squat rack for those who want functional strength rather than just bulging muscles.
