Cwm Rhaeadr MTB Trail: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Short but sweet. Excellent trail design. A chunk of the climb is fire road, but there is an excellent technical climb up towards the summit. The descent has a loop option so that you can do it again without the full drop to the car park. Not a highly technical red, but not for beginners really.
Fantastic experience: A bit of a climb to get to the downhill but good fun if you just want a short run. Few drops but all are rollable
Fantastic experience: Short trail (4 miles). One climb followed by (mostly) one descent, with the option of a top loop. All weather trail with some standing water. Rated as red, which is fair due to some sections, but mostly blue.
Fantastic experience: Great choice of bike paths and not over crowded. A lovely surprise at the end in the car park, when all the red kites where being fed and it was magical.
Fantastic experience: Quick one. Very tight single trail.
Fantastic experience: It's a bit of a bugger to get to but the trails are sublime. If you're anywhere near and you enjoy flowing singletrack (if you're looking for gnarly rock gardens then this isn't for you) it's 100% worth the effort of getting here. Recommended
Fantastic experience: Amazing trail. Great views. Technical!
Fantastic experience: Awsome short trail ,every fun feature in there
Fantastic experience: Very nice basically a climb with stunning views ,then nice descent , berms , air , speed and scenery , well worth the climb , I did 2 laps on a hardtail ,approx red grade
Fantastic experience: Amazing place for the mtb
Fantastic experience: Can't fault a good trail that's free and has a great ratio of difficulty climbing to fun descent.
Fantastic experience: My favourite trail of all time, nice climb for a very rewarding decent. Brilliant scenery
Fantastic experience: Only a very small trail centre but the relatively short climb is well worth the down!
Fantastic experience: Love the mountain bike route, really fast and open now. One climb up then a lovely continuous down hill with only minor undulations. The tanks return is a good but is currently a little wet. Now comes the negative part of my review, I'm so happy with the trail it's the management of the resource that winds me up: Not open yet, really dissatisfied with natural resources wales, who keep moving the date that the mountain bike trails will be open, we were told in November that this would be open (at least to locals) in February as it stands the route is still closed and the work has all been completed. Combine this with the fact that brechfa and abergorlech are closed off for repairs as well which leaves us nowhere in our local area to go mountain biking
Fantastic experience: Epic
Fantastic experience: The climb to the waterfall is well worth it and as for the trail that follows it is awesome fun and fast!
Fantastic experience: Short trail but quite challenging
Positive experience: Great fun but quite challenging
Fantastic experience: Great little trail well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic bit of single track in mid Wales. I visited in October and other than the sheep, was the only one out. There's a decent car park at the bottom, a climb for 1.5 miles with some fantastic views of the valley below and then about 3 miles of decent single track for all abilities. The trail is graded red, and, while there are some challenging sections, it's fairly easy to avoid these. It's short enough to go round several times and get some practice in. I thoroughly recommended a detour to give this a go.
Positive experience: If local great if not not really worth it
Fantastic experience: Great descent! Chatty fire roslad climb, what's not to like
Fantastic experience: Fantastic little trail fast flowing and plenty of little kickers. 6.7km
Positive experience: Great views. Well looked after. Great for all mtb ability with a variety of trails
Positive experience: Extensive forestry trails, very pretty
Fantastic experience: Lovely loop. Well with a detour for a couple hours
Fantastic experience: Favourite trail albeit short
Fantastic experience: A true hidden gem. Not the longest trail out there, 7km but you'll be hard pushed to find many out there that offer such a sweet singletrack descent. Pretty much one long climb before descending back to the car park. You'll be going back for at least one more lap, if not two. There's no cafe or bike shop, just a forestry car park so come prepared.
