Allegiance Jiu-Jitsu Academy Derby

Fantastic experience: I’ve been training at Allegiance since 2010, and it has been an incredible journey. I’ve had the privilege of training in both Japanese Ju Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and I can honestly say this place feels like a second home. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also genuinely invested in helping every student improve. They take the time to break down techniques, answer questions, and ensure you’re constantly growing in both skill and confidence. What really sets this club apart is the team spirit and camaraderie among the students. No matter your experience level, everyone is supportive, encouraging, and eager to help each other succeed. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, learn self-defense, or challenge yourself mentally and physically, this club has something for everyone. It’s an environment where you can push your limits, make friends, and enjoy every step of the journey. Highly recommended for anyone looking to get involved in martial arts!

Negative experience: Ordered a MMA set for £50 or £60 never received full items over 5months trying to get a hold never got an answer I still want a full refund!!!, I joined when they were hosting the ULTRA MMA Competition and orderd a kit came in 3days and was told the kit wasn't there yet, i had gone for a week and still did not get the kit. i had stopped attending due to transport issues and still tried contacting to retrieve the items but not i just want a refund. the kit consisted of a mouth guard, gloves, wraps, shin pads and more but i had not received any of it.. i woudnt do this out of spite or any bad hateful activtiy, i have seen you have been trying to get ahold of me, but my calls arnt working at the moment i do apritiate u helping me resolve this issue. Thank you for the help and support i hope we can come to ressolve this issue, i have emailed back with more details.

Fantastic experience: I've trained here for the past few years, what a club! I had never done any martial arts before and was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming the students and coaching staff were. They helped me early on to build confidence with their flawless tuition. The facilities are also great, the best I've seen compared to any club I've been to visit. Sensei Patrick, Stephen, Guy and coaches Dean, Craig, Lee and George are great teachers. They have not only helped me develop as a BJJ practitioner but as a person. The competition team is very high level and has allowed me to medal at multiple competitions. If you are hesitant of trying BJJ then I strongly recommend you attend a free trial class and see why everyone falls in love with it!

Fantastic experience: Just joined and had a great experience from a very experienced welcoming team. I am an older adult (53) and wasn't sure if this was a good idea but so glad I made that jump, no regrets and would recommend the club to anyone thinking joining Well an update 10 months in and still have no regrets and I would say life changing in so many ways. I can't thank the coaches enough for all the help and support and looking forward to the future

Fantastic experience: Excellent academy to practice and master Martial Arts! It’s that good I signed my little lad up to train here too. Over the years I’ve been here, I’ve developed and grown as a person. All the Sensai’s / Coaches are phenomenal, they all tailor themselves to each individual to ensure every single person grows on their own journey. I’ve been to a few Martial Art academies over the years and this is by far the best. A real humble training culture, like a big family, where everyone grows and develops together, all whilst learning an Art(s)* for life. Fantastic experience: Had one to ones at this gym in which I got to know Patrick and George who have been great for me. Moving areas so had to leave the gym but if your in Derby and your wanting one to one’s then Patrick is the one!

Fantastic experience: Having trained at several boxing gyms /martial art gyms in the past I can't recommend this place enough. After hearing great things about the centre over the last few years I've been lucky enough to finely witness them first hand. The coaching and guidance is brilliant. It has a great family feel with all the coaches and other students. I find the teaching methods by Sensei Pat very clear and effective. Thinking of MMA, BJJ or martial arts I highly recommend you check out Gracie Barra Derby.

Fantastic experience: Awesome clue, very friendly and welcoming. Awesome instructors who will help you through your journey. They teach bjj, MMA Japanese Jujitsu. You will make new friends myself and my son train there. The dojo is very clean. My 11 year old son is now doing bjj and Mma. He loves it he has made new friends. It bought him out of his shell.

Fantastic experience: My 7yr old son needed to improve his self confidence. As the Martial Arts helped me so much in my youth, I want to give him the same opportunity. Gracie Barra Derby provides a perfect place for him to develop his skills as well as grow his self confidence and come out of his shell. I can’t recommend these guys highly enough!

Fantastic experience: Just started with BJJ, Pat and Kirsty are very welcoming. Coaches Craig and Guy knowledgable, always available to answer all questions and clarify misconceptions.

Negative experience: Went to my 6yrs 3rd session today.... he sat there as he couldn't be pared up as I watched for 15 whole minutes and not even 1 person came up to him and assured him! He sat on the floor in the middle and kept looking up at me and was upset. I couldn't wait after 15mins any longer and walked up and got him out the lesson. I pay for them to teach my child not for him to sit do nothing. Why did no-one assure him or team him up with 3 kids? How is this professional? There's no excuse. My wife was with me and she said to talk to them.... I said why?! Why tell them how to do their job! If they can't be bothered to tell my 6yr old or to team him up.... then I will not be bothered to send my kid here. Intact I will have to find another place who don't neglect ANY children. I've now wasted £110 on the Gi.... wow.

Fantastic experience: Been taking our kids here for a while now to do Jujitsu. Can't recommend them enough, a great team and always attentive to the kids. They love it, so we love it.
