Fantastic experience: The hidden gym, is "the hidden gem"! There is a full complement of equipment that is superceded by the warm, camaraderie and industrious work ethic of all who attend. Great experiences like this ensure that everyone keeps coming back for more.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant little hidden gym. Excellent boxing class with Jack on Wednesday's. He caters to all levels focusing on technique as well as fitness.

Negative experience: The worst gym for beginners in Muay Thai. Save your money and go do some 1-2-1’s somewhere else. The whole layout of the classes are terrible. The venue itself is really good , but the classes are terrible. Coach is a nice guy , but yet again the layout of these lessons are so so bad.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym a few mins walk from either Tower or London Bridges. I taught classes here prior to the pandemic and was delighted to return. The mat is HUGE and the members and staff are friendly. Both gyms have a range of equipment that keeps workouts fun and interesting. I've even started wrestling which I wasn't sure about and now love it and there's an MMA class to suit anyone, so much versatility. Come and say 'hi' to us and explore

Fantastic experience: When I moved to London, I asked around for the friendliest, most welcoming judo club. I heard the word "Tokei" from multiple sources, independent of each other. Tokei has now become like a second home to me. I have trained, learnt, taught, travelled, competed and attended social events with my friends at Tokei over the years and created memories. I wholeheartedly recommend this club to anyone looking to start something new.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for years and it is one of the best centres I’ve been to for the gym and martial arts. The staff are amazing and the trainers are awesome too. It’s a small local space and brings the community together, I couldn’t recommend it enough!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic club with a range of martial arts: BJJ (Gi and No-Gi), Boxing, Judo, Wrestling and Muay Thai. Teaching is top notch and extremely welcoming - always a good mix of experienced and beginners in every class to suit all skill levels. Also has a fully equipped gym with weights and a range of cardio machines for people looking to workout. Would highly recommend the BJJ classes!

Fantastic experience: This place is great. It's never crowded, and they have treadmills, free weights, stretching mats, all the equipment that I use. The location is also good for me because it's close to work.

Fantastic experience: I arrived at this gym some months ago, and to be honest I was nervous about exploring martial arts. I'd never thrown a proper punch in my life and I had a strange mix of emotions, but I really wanted to try martial arts, because everybody said it could be life-changing. A few months later, and I can say that joining this gym has been the best thing I've done for my mental health (and body health). I would compare the experience here to when you first discover surfing - it 100% changes your life, and only for the better! The Tuesday and Thursday Muaythai class is perfect for a beginner who wants to start from the beginning (like I did). Winston, the trainer, could not be better - straight away he recognises what you need as a beginner (he gives you encouragement, shows you the correct technique, gives guidance every time you try a new thing), and he takes the time to bring you up, level by level, class by class, whilst he also helps you to break through any mental barriers in your head. After 2 weeks you'll be glowing, cos Winston pushes you to your limit, but he's always on your side, and he gets the BEST out of you. (He was a multiple champion in the sport of Muaythai so it makes sense that he is a top-level trainer!) Attending his muaythai classes really is a positive transformative experience that I would wish for everyone to experience. Additionally, the muaythai classes have a mix of guys and girls, which is great, because everyone has healthy respect for each other in a way that nobody gets hurt, but we all bring the best out of each other. Besides the Muaythai class, the boxing class on Wednesday is fantastic also (you can lear great techniques which pair perfectly with muaythai). Once you've been here for a few weeks you realise that this is an actual community - you can chat to anybody about the different martial arts they do, and nobody seems to carry an 'ego', which is refreshing. So it really feels like a great place to learn and experience transformation. I can't recommend it enough. Lastly, thank you to everyone who works at Tokei; management, trainers and all the friendly day staff, for your hard work and cheerful attitudes - please know it is very very appreciated!

Fantastic experience: A nice, quiet little gym with lovely staff and a good range of 'get the job done' equipment. The real USP is the range of martial arts available, the quality of the instruction, and the low price point. With four BJJ classes a week, and four Judo classes a week (including those for absolute beginners), plus wrestling, this is possibly the cheapest place in London to learn grappling.

Fantastic experience: I really like this gym. The man that runs it Toby is a really lovely bloke and very helpful and encouraging - he's already helping me get my judo grades. I only recently have taken up judo and jiu-jitsu and (sometimes) karate and all of the instructors are very helpful and encouraging in different ways - Vernon, Orlando and Toby. The membership is £60 a month which is affordable considering you get full access to 90% of classes and access to the gym and weights. The classes on offer are judo, BJJ, wrestling, karate, thai boxing - and additional ones like krav maga. The only feedback I can give is that I'd love to see a Sunday judo class and possibly an amateur boxing class? Thanks

Fantastic experience: A brilliant hidden gem of a facility with fully equipped gym and a huge martial arts offering. I've been training judo at Tokei for a few months now and have nothing but great things to report - well structured, high level classes led by very experienced instructors who put an emphasis on solid technique and fun learning within a safe training environment. Love it there!

Fantastic experience: The judo is pretty good, about 20 adults on the mat on a Tuesday and Saturday, less on a Thursday, usually a mix of Dan and kyu grades and a few novices, more older players than 18-25, on the chilled out end of judo clubs, very not 'sensei etc'... some very good players, ex Bulgarian national, 4-5 coaches, very welcoming, most go for coffee in Costa after on Sat. They do a little tour each year too. Last one to Bulgaria, before that Frankfurt

Fantastic experience: I've been using Tokei gym for about 3 months now. This isn't a chain gym and the low price reflects this. This is a gym where people who want to get fit and meet their goals go. I have to say the staff and management here are very friendly, they really make an effort to ensure all the kit is always working unlike the chains that just stick a sticker on it, and they are approachable when things do go wrong. There are classes to for lunch time and weekends, and I would say that if you are serious about your health then this is the place. I use a chain gym at the weekend when out of London and it's cold and impersonal, Tokei is the exact opposite. Photo was taken on a weekday lunchtime, so there's plenty of space for those lunchtime workouts.

Positive experience: Positive attitude , no frills , good space , decent changing rooms ... but ! During my Muay Thai class the coach often was more busing working on the bag himself rather than checking what the students are doing ... excellent location just 5min walk from London Bridge station

Negative experience: I attended the wrestling class as part of my attempt to do some lifestyle changes. I called in advance to make sure that the class is suitable for beginners with no wrestling experience or fit! I was reassured they are! Dear, oh dear, oh dear! Instructor was barely speaking english! I assume there was something funny, which I obviously missed, when a guy that has not done any exercising for 12 years, ex-smoker is struggling with some exercises (especially when instructor is informed in advance) (this guy is me)! I assume it is also appropriate for the instructor to show how strong he is to that guy (thankfully just some bruises, no A&E)! In addition to commenting about him in Bulgarian with the rest of his mates in the class! Very professional indeed! As far as I am concerned I am not ashamed for trying to change my life and I feel great about it! At least I am happy with myself for trying, I assume if he was happy with himself he would not have this behaviour! (I am pretty sure I could smell alcohol on his breath too or I may have been delusional after a neck grab that made me almost pass out - def appropriate for a beginner - not!) The woman in the reception was very pleasant but gyms that employ these kind of staff better not wonder why big chains take their customers!

Fantastic experience: Excellent Martial Art Centre with helpful staff. A great mixture of Aikido, Judo and Karate and much more.

Fantastic experience: Awesome little gem old style gym amazingly cheap. Classes are inclusive (apart few private fighting clubs) so try some new stuff when bored with your usual weights routine. Self defence, judo or super tough circuit training. Recommended

Fantastic experience: Great, no frills gym that meets most needs. People are friendly and classes are great. The Sanda Kickercise class on Thursdays are a workout and really great fun. Instructors and regulars all very welcoming to beginners like myself. Won't find better value anywhere else.

Positive experience: While it's not some super chrome finished techno blasting chain gym, those are actually quite positive things. When it's quiet you can get on with it and when it's busy there is a good atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Tokei is an awesome gym

Fantastic experience: A spit and sawdust type gym and fitness centre hidden away just off Tooley Street. The membership is cheap and the quality of the classes is excellent but don't expect any frills, this is a proper gym. The gym itself is not that big and the machines were old, There was a good selection of free weights when I was a member 1 year ago. The best thing is the classes, they alone are well worth the membership fee. The staff are all very nice and due to the small size of the gym there is a friendly vibe where everyone knows everyone.

Fantastic experience: You don't get glossy posters of fitness models peering out at you. There is no rack of magazines "inspiring" you. You don't get fluffy towels. If all this makes you go "YES!" - head to Tokei, one of the best places for martial arts and fitness training in London.

Fantastic experience: Tokei has an excellent Judo class on Tuesdays. Good intensity, excellent cardio workout, and a solid class to develop your fighting Judo. Couldn't recommended more.
