The Dunstable Centre is one of the outstanding community sports and cultural centres in the surrounding area. The centre boasts a great range of facilities to benefit the community in a number of ways. There are two pools – a 25-metre, six lane main pool and a smaller teaching pool. There’s also a large, well-equipped gym, three group exercise studios, a sports hall and two squash courts.
Away from the sporting facilities, the centre also boasts a café and a library.
Our comment from FitFit UK about The Dunstable Centre:
The Dunstable Centre is a well-equipped facility that offers a variety of recreational activities including swimming, gym workouts, and badminton. Many users appreciate the modern environment and good range of equipment available. The staff are often described as friendly and helpful, making it a pleasant place for regular visitors. The centre also features a library and a café, enhancing the overall experience.
However, it is noted by several visitors that there are issues with cleanliness in the changing rooms and swimming areas, which can detract from the visit. A few users have also experienced difficulties with customer service, particularly regarding communication and online booking processes. Moreover, some areas of the facility, like the men's changing room, have been reported as being poorly maintained.
Despite these concerns, many feel that the Dunstable Centre retains potential due to its impressive facilities and the overall positive atmosphere. Visitors recommend returning for the amenities and dedicated staff, but suggest management address the cleanliness and customer service issues to enhance the overall experience.

The Dunstable Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: The gym is amazing I book online my swimming sessions easy And efficient to do a great environment family friendly gym with top equipment and amazing facility and selection of classes each day Good service with friendly staff Super clean and comfortable gym for everyone from beginners to professional athletes To train at
Positive experience: A lovely little pool, a bit cold but nice & quiet when I was there.
Negative experience: Poor customer services
Positive experience: Please turn down the music at the gym. Too loud
Positive experience: Good facilities overall but my real issue is the swimming lessons for children. I just don’t understand the inconsistency in swimming progress. You can go months! Without a teacher assessing your child. It’s not motivating for the children. What’s the point of the app if there isn’t progress happening!? Often you don’t get the same teacher and then they start teaching them things they know already. Really frustrating especially when you are paying £42 a month each! A lot of parents feel the same. The swimming manager needs to look into this
Negative experience: Go to other Everyone Active gyms! Management and supervision of under age kids in the Dunstable gym is a joke. I’m all for encouraging kids doing exercise but 40-50 teenagers in the weight and machine section creating crowds round each piece of gym equipment, using all the equipment wrong / damaging the equipment with no PT supervision in sight is not great. I’ve brought this up multiple times to staff and no change. When reception calls for a PT, no PT comes. You go to the gym for a destress after work and you leave more stressed!
Negative experience: Bad communication anything happens before playing badminton roof leaking a badminton court area if it is small rain even all day rain but the leak before Strat we were playing raindrop just five minutes ago therefore they could not communicate with the customer wonderful reasons.……
Negative experience: My kid was attending swimming session for over 2.5 yrs , without missing classes. But not sure why she can’t progress in swimming at Dunstable swimming center. She is brave girl never scared of water. She’s keen learning swimming and never said that she does want to stop classes. As a parent either myself or my wife take her for classes regularly without fail. Many times we spoke to the teacher who does not seem to care about my kid. Mr Ray was so good he engaged kids very well and progress was obvious. There was a teacher (Girl with specs) who I never seen getting into the water. Always stays outside and just train kids with verbal prompts. Sorry for those kids. who were under her . When we started fee was £32 prices constantly increased now we paid around £42. Fee was not my concern as I was dreaming my kid would learn swimming at the end. Now My kid has come to a stage where she lost her interest and does not want to go anymore to the classes. She reached stage 2 and does not want to continue anymore. 2 yrs for stage 2? All my , my wife’s and my kid’s time and energy gone wasted. Hope management would look into this. I would not recommend this place for swimming. Thanks
Negative experience: Have a badminton court booked each week, every time it rains they cancel us due to a leak in the roof, why don’t they just fix it
Fantastic experience: Great centre really well designed gym
Negative experience: The Manager is sarcastic and rude.
Negative experience: Totally Rubbish centre my daughter was in stage 4 after one year they are telling me to move her stage 3 They don't know what they are doing for one year totally waste of money n kids get demotivated.
Fantastic experience: Very easy to join online and book a swimming slot. Staff were very helpful when I arrived giving me my membership card and giving details about future visits
Negative experience: If you are not a white Englis, don't bother to say hello to swiming teachers, they won't answer. Don't smile to them, they won't smile back, don't try to convers, they won't. However they do say hello, smile and converse jovial when with own kind.
Positive experience: I am okay going back to the Dunstable centre again.
Negative experience: I am not a member and yet these people phoned me direct. woke me up mid day while I was a sleep after a long night shift. When I phoned them to complain the receptionist didn't care. Side note I have been swimming there and the changing rooms are filthy.
Negative experience: So we can’t go swimming here unless you’ve booked a space ( that’s what reception said ) I also asked for a swimming pool time table and apparently only available online. Imagine how many people miss out because they don’t have that access. 1st time trying to use this place and I definitely will NOT be trying again. Ridiculous
Fantastic experience: I was lost cyring having a panic attack and then a nice employee helped to the theater i was so worried i forgot to say thank u and he wasnt paid for it he did it for free after his shift thank you so much .
Negative experience: Bad customer service, they never respond, and when they do they say that they had called us a number of times when I don’t recall any calls. Then when I tried joining the gym, they had booked me an “induction” for Tuesday, and then we couldn’t do it because we HAD to go to the reception. So then they had moved it to Wednesday, and when I called to confirm it’s still booked, they said it was canceled by MYSELF. Which I didn’t do. And then they moved it to Thursday. I showed up and now they’re saying they called me a number of times and I didn’t pick up because apparently I “canceled it” and didn’t let me in. I cannot understand what is wrong with them.
Negative experience: Booked tonight public swim 7pm.got in pool and it was aerobic night. Told by attendant cant be in pool, so got out and left. Not good
Negative experience: Overpowering ‘heady’ smell of chlorine as you walk into the building from the swimming pool on the left with the refreshment outlet alongside is not a good combination - nausea inducing! Poorly thought out open plan style layout especially for people who are not their to swim, but who want to relax or study in the Library or to take refreshments. Refreshments outlet’s displayed pricing are not what you are actually charged as they’ve increased their prices but, failed to update the displayed prices to reflect this and do not ‘honour’ the displayed prices! Will not be visiting again!
Negative experience: Poorly run !!! Day 1 told about great deal ,tried gym went back to desk to sign up and told couldn't and to come back . Come back next day told couldn't still . Ring up next day no answer on phones so turn up wait at desk 10 min to be seen to be told no one available to sign up despite massive board at reception stating last day to sign up to deal . Go to car to try on line as suggested and no Joy either . Great gym but will go elsewhere now !!
Negative experience: Terrible experience from the reception staff
Negative experience: Unhelpful staff! Instead of solve the issues i was advice to write a feedback. Ridiculous !
Negative experience: Never answer the phone awful service physically had to drive down to sign up my boy
Fantastic experience: Well maintained centre, new equipment with smart connectivity options. Usually quite and not too crowded
Positive experience: The centre is very modern and clean. I can only use the pool and gym ATM due to several health problems.the staff are always friendly and helpful. If l were to change anything it would be to add extra aqua aerobics classes throughout the week as there seems to be a lot of time dedicated to lane swimming and the aqua classes are always booked up very quickly with waiting lists being as much as 13 people waiting
Negative experience: If gyms could have hygiene ratings by the council, this place wouldn’t even get 1 star. I’ve been using the gym for years, I’m also a member at flitwick which I believe is owned by the same company. It is very rare that I’ll go to Flitwick and not see a cleaner, they seem to have cleaners in there constantly. Dunstable however is the complete opposite, in the years that I’ve been there I’ve never once seen a cleaner. One example: Today I found 2 separate pairs of pants on the floor in the shower, one had poo inside. There was also cigarette butts on the floor of the shower. The gym has great equipment and it’s super convenient which is why I like to go but I would suggest that the manager of Flitwick and the manager of Dunstable should get together and teach the team at Dunstable the cleaning plan that Flitwick have. I don’t write negative reviews ever but I feel like this is crucial criticism that will help the future of the gym.
Fantastic experience: We had a lovely swim with my grandaughter
Positive experience: Had good swim, pool clean and generally no concerns.
Negative experience: We visited the teaching pool with our little one. The water was very cold and we were not warned about it when we booked it. There were some issues there as the main pool was completely closed.
Fantastic experience: We went swimming here for the first time, was really impressed throughout, family style changing room with lockers (£1 & returned after use), open and cubicle showers (comfortably hot), 2 pools both are warm and clean. Definitely going to visit again soon.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service, cleaness, facilities and warm advising
Positive experience: The facilities are good. Not convinced with the customer service though.
Negative experience: Used to enjoy going to the gym here. Now it's overrun with under 16s and most of them aren't interested in working out and just run around instead. Last visit, I was surprised to see a security guard now wandering around the gym. Looking to move elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: A big shout out to the first aid team who looked after me when I had a fall ( my fault) during an induction session of Pickleball 13/01/2024. The two young men (sorry but I’m rubbish at remembering names) looked after me really well and were kind and professional. The guys from the Pickleball club were brilliant too. So Happy New Year and I will be back.
Positive experience: Pros: Generally a really nice gym. Has Good range of equipment that is well maintained, friendly staff and a good atmosphere most of the time. Cons: You have to pick your times to go to avoid the large groups of under 16s running around playing up and causing problems.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good amnesties around the vicinity.
Positive experience: It is quite decent, spacious and well managed. Staff are polite and welcoming!
Fantastic experience: New buildings, very wooded, very well signposted. There is a skate park for children and teenagers to play and parking is very well signposted.
Negative experience: I just come to join this gym for classes I like yoga and other classes and they kept getting cancelled this is not good enough I hope to get my money back it not fair for the people that pay monthly or yearly need to sort it out you take people money and we not getting service
Positive experience: Go to take my grandson swimming....changing rooms not always the best and staff don't seem to notice when youths are messing about...if they don't want to deal with it they should get management
Negative experience: The swimming pools were decent but the changing facilities were poorly maintained this time, which made for an unpleasant experience before and after using the pool. I appreciate that the public only tend to worry about their own situation, see attached photograph, but maybe more staff are needed to maintain standards in the changing areas. Update: standards of cleanliness have improved and the changing areas were clean and dry today. On the downside, there was a group of teenage girls sat in the foyer and a couple of them were vaping. I know that this is not the fault of the centre, but people like this need challenging.
Positive experience: Water too cold for our 9month old baby
Positive experience: Saw this beauty
Negative experience: Sports hall roof has been leaking for many months now, causes so much inconvenience but nothing has been done by the centre ..
Positive experience: How can a newly refurbished leisure center have no sauna and steam room, makes no sense at all, stupid.
Positive experience: Use the gym & pool regularly....has improved in some aspects to the previous group running it in the way it is run....more business like than leisurely
Positive experience: I play badminton here sometimes in the evenings, courts are well looked after/ good lighting etc. £10.35 hourly. Free Parking aswell outside GoBowling.
Negative experience: I was disappointed to be demanded that I take my shoes off in the changing rooms rather than receive a polite notice/warning prior to this new enforcement. My daughter has been a member doing swimming lessons for over a year and I would have expected to receive an email letting the parents know of this new change. How about providing shoe coverings if you can’t be bothered to keep up with the cleanliness of the changing rooms. We pay monthly, this should be included in that! And I’m more so bothered at the way staff have confronted the situation rudely and not at all politely whilst also wearing outside shoes. What a joke!
Positive experience: Great gym & swim facilities, with free parking if you are paying a monthly membership. Has improved since the new management company took over. Changing rooms, lockers & floors are cleaner. The only downside is when using the fast, medium & slow swimming lanes. These are not seen as a priority for regulars
Positive experience: Seems gooc
Negative experience: never answer the phone :(
Fantastic experience: Brilliant, 1 broken wieght machine that was it
Positive experience: Nice, clean with very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Negative experience: Not that great. Needs to be cleaned!!!
Positive experience: Facilities - swimming, gym activities, badminton and bouncy castle for children on a Friday morning
Fantastic experience: Fabulous place, lovely theatre with very very comfortable seats and great views no matter where you sit
Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the facilities, friendly team and cleanliness. So much to offer and have now joined!
Fantastic experience: Much better now because they have fixed the little pool and the water it is warmer. The children are enjoying it more now. All the areas are clean.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic new aqua aerobics coach Elise. Very energetic, great music, really felt that a work out had been achieved, Well done
Negative experience: Looks nice and clean when arriving in reception but going through to swimming changing cubicles and toilets awful very dirty disabled toilet couldn’t be used as it was filthy going to use ladies toilets not clean either it’s not just toilets in here it’s floors sinks tap’s cubicles needs to be looked into disgusting
Negative experience: I’m trying to cancel my membership for over a week now. Nobody can do anything about it. Tried with the bank , no Direct Debit set , tried with the Dunstable center they can’ t do anything, sent a couple of enquiries through their website, automatic reply come on without any real solution. Definitely not a company to deal with again.
Negative experience: After requesting a gym membership I was blown away at the thought of a joining fee If taking £40 a month was not enough they required me to pay a upfront fee of £30 just to join Am I the only person that sees this as a con ? The service I got was not up to standard as I was asked to speak with someone called Luke in ten minutes as he started his shift at 11 when I arrived there I was greeted with he is going to be another 20 minutes Sorry my parking ticket is about to expire and I am not want to pay even more So my end result has not had a great turn out I am still looking for a gym
Fantastic experience: Nice swimming pool and library. Mixed changing room. Pool not deep enough for diving. Gents toilets were out of order. I don't like the timed swimming sessions. Luckily, I was permitted to enter without having to wait for the next timed swimming session. Nice cafe with full range of hot drinks amd some snacks.
Negative experience: Reception staff are unhelpful and communications are vague. We registered online for swimming lessons. Went in centre to take cards and start and be able to access the pool. Lady confirmed that everything went through OK. Swimming instructor could not find our names on his list. Went there following day, we told that our listings are still showing as prospects and not went through. Lady did allow us on the pool but asked us to phone back the following day during working hours. Lady at the reception did not even care to help and asked me to wait until the site is back and functioning, currently down. I asked if I can come and resolve this in the centre, she asked me to call back. This is waste of time. I have partner with sciatica who needs these sessions to improve his back prb and I did explain that to her but she did not get it. Dispiriting
Negative experience: Based on my interaction with Swim Manager (Eleanor) - unreliable with medical freeze requests and denying to action promised credit. Problem started with leisure centre reception not initiating freeze request leading to unnecessary funds deducted and now not being credited. Faceless organisation, with a new person in each interaction providing new excuse and doesn't honor simple corrective actions. Highly dissapointed and not recommended.
Negative experience: I wanted to join their gym but apparently its really hard to even buy a membership. Through a phone call you will speak with someone that basically won't help you at all besides taking your details and passing them to some office that won't call you back. Also beware buying a membership through their website, they will bill you twice for your 2nd month membership so they can be in advance in case you cancel so instead of paying a normal membership monthly subscription of 29,99£ you will pay 59,99£ which is a bit ridiculous. If you are already paying a fee of 29,99 which is a monthly membership price that entitles you to use facilities from 1st to end of the month why are you charging non-refundable 59,99 for 2nd month of membership instead of 29,99? Plain robbery
Positive experience: 1) paid for my kids’ inflatable party in full in feb 2023. The day of the party in April 2023 they had no record of the booking at all, it was only because I rang with a question 1 hour before that I insisted they give us the pool and room. But no one spoke a word of apology to my face when we arrived and kids were in tears due to having a simple pool party with no inflatable 2) tried to sign my son up for swimming lessons but unnecessarily complicated and no staff able to resolve the issue so no lessons 3) since everyone active took over months ago, we can no longer track progress The swimming instructors are good in our experience and my daughter loves her lessons, but the admin/managers are ineffective
Negative experience: Was generally fine under the old management. It’s lovely having the library and Citizens Advice with the sports centre all under one roof. Unfortunately it is extremely dirty, the floors of the swimming pool changing area are disgusting, the showers are absolutely yuk, some changing cubicles have what looks like old coffee splashes up high on the wall and the toilets are grim. It’s really obvious it’s not cleaned, maybe swept once a day at best. The patrons don’t leave it in the best state but other centres deal with this fine. My membership was also switched over and they said that they would be honouring the monthly charge so no extra cost to me, however looking at the Everyone Active website it seems they charge £35.99 a month for membership rather than the £40.50 I was paying.
Fantastic experience: First time we have been since the refurbishment. Prices are ok but was a little confused by website as you couldn’t book unless you were registered. Don’t fret though you can just turn up and pay, just arrive a little earlier before session to allow for queue. Changing rooms nice and clean, family and single cubicles. Pool decent temperature, we stayed in the whole hour and didn’t feel cold. Lovely hot showers, and my girls loved the free hair dryers to! Lockers are £1. Revisit 2023 summer break, once again great experience. I love the pool temp here, 29 degrees, so nice. Got it booked much better this time, now using the ‘everyone active’ app, you can open the gates by reception with the app, quite cool!
Positive experience: Clean, good facilities, friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Lovely environment can't fault it
Negative experience: AMAZING I WOULD RECOGMENG GOING THERE STAFF ARE NICE AND QUALITY IS LOVLEY EQUIPMENT IS ALWAYS CLEAN
Positive experience: Decent gym for the not too serious gym goer (me)
Positive experience: Very friendly and clean and modern. Our first visit ,and seemed shirt staffed, but would return
Positive experience: Really friendly staff. Very clean. I enjoy the pool and gym
Positive experience: Absolutely awful to get through on the telephone but if you can manage to go in the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful.
Positive experience: Mens changing room smells awful upstairs. Although the gym is pretty good, plenty of good equipment and staff are friendly.
Negative experience: I am so disappointed at the dirtines of the centre. The toilets are absolutely filthy. Dirty toilets and seats Dirty sinks and taps. Rusty dusty dirty railings and glass upstairs in the viewing area. Why?
Positive experience: Cafe rarely open. Was offered a free gym or swim pass. Registered twice for it and told I would be contacted never heard anything. Spoke to reception about it again told I would be contacted and heard nothing. Facilities ok otherwise.
Positive experience: Love it here, clean and tidy. Only criticism I have is no sauna or steam room and internet connection is really bad so cannot sign into my gym app.
Negative experience: Hopeless customer experience. Could not book online for family session in the small pool. Could not get an answer on the phone to book. Turned up to be told the session was fully booked and I should have booked online. How exactly?! Waste of time.
Negative experience: Ok turned up for the 13:00 pm that's 1pm to you, the general swim checked the app outside the door and it had 8 places still available but as I walked in and went to the receptionist and was told it was fully booked? So we have a choice stay for the 2pm or go somewhere else to say I'm not happy is an understatement just angry not with the staff but myself I should of booked online end of event though the staff members were not helpful and where if anything couldn't care less attitude... I will either be booking online from know on or going else where ..
Negative experience: We visited the pool for our daughters first swimming trip this week. Prior to our visit I spoke to two lovely young ladies on the phone (I think they were called Lauren & Serena). Although our experience in swimming was nice, I did notice the changing rooms weren’t particularly clean. Which was confirmed after we returned from the pool, while getting changed my toddler found a used tampon on the floor which had been discarded under the changing table in our cubicle. Granted this isn’t the centres fault entirely, and after I told someone about it a member of staff came to clear it away promptly. But he did inform me that this wasn’t the first time they had found one today. And a quick check of the floor every now and then wouldn’t hurt, as the rest of the changing rooms or the area around the building didn’t look particularly clean either. Lastly, the following day we received an email saying we would be receiving a penalty for not attending our booking. I’m not sure if this was a fault with the system or not but I did call and explain but have not heard back as to wether the penalty has been removed or not. I did also mention what my daughter found on the floor while I was trying to resolve the penalty and I was not met with as much as an apology. All in all we had a lovely time swimming, but do think the place is lacking a bit of care and cleanliness.
Negative experience: Pool was freezing and changing rooms even colder. Staff very unhelpful in my opinion. Also was hoping to get a warm snack with my children after a swim but this centre does not have the facilities. This being my new local swimming centre was looking forward to bringing my children here on a more regular basis however think I shall find my next local as this just wasn’t satisfactory. Only positive was it was clean and could see staff cleaning regularly
Fantastic experience: Very enjoyable and friendly
Fantastic experience: Great facility and great staff
Fantastic experience: Lovely environment can't fault it
Fantastic experience: Very nice place to visit
Fantastic experience: I visited dunstable swimming pool today to watch my grandchildren have there swimming lessons, and I was quite impressed , very nice sport centre,
Negative experience: A situation occurred on Friday 20th January. I arrived just before 5.30pm,I went into the Mens changing room, there was empty water bottles, discarded ice cream wrappers, mud and even a dirty pair of mens underwear, the shower area was full of mud as well. I complained to the Gym employee, but he was busy, I then informed the people behind the desk, they seemed to think the Gym person would clean up, but I explained for him, they then said they would get a Lifeguard to clean it. It was cleaned in the end, by the Gym employee. It was a Mess!!!
Fantastic experience: Great place. Clean
Fantastic experience: Nice place and friendly staff
Fantastic experience: I use the gym about 4 times a week , the staff are so lovely and the pool is good. Highly recommend this place
Fantastic experience: Been to Osteopaths in the centre, Top draw very good, professional and friendly Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Very good place, lots of lovely staff, kids love their swimming lessons.
Fantastic experience: Lovely experience. Great centre with great facilities ❤️
Bieżnie z dużymi ekranami, netflix, YT, tv i inne. Reasumując, super wyposażenie i brak tłoku.
Fantastic experience: Very good
