Negative experience: Removal of majority of classes and classes do not have enough spaces. Plus the rise in membership price. What is our money paying for? A new ill-equipped building without air-conditioning. Spend your money elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff , clean swimming, great gym, nice fitness classes.

Negative experience: Why do they never answer the phone!

Negative experience: Really poor experience , hard to get an available slot for swimming and if you can it's in the baby pool unless you want structured lane swimming , doesn't seem to have 'fun' swim in the main pool . Website poor, staff worse as most seem to be kids. Look for alternatives as its looks as though they have got rid of the old public pool and replaced with a wannabe private one.

Negative experience: Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the quality of customer service at your gym, which I have attended together with my son. Unfortunately, our experience there has been extremely disappointing. The staff give the impression that they are working out of obligation rather than genuine interest or professionalism. There is a noticeable lack of courtesy, engagement, and basic kindness towards clients. Moreover, not all customers are treated equally – the attitude often comes across as condescending, dismissive, and, at times, outright arrogant. This kind of behavior is simply unacceptable, especially in a place that is supposed to promote a healthy lifestyle and foster positive social interactions. I cannot recommend this gym to anyone, as human connection and a welcoming atmosphere are just as important as equipment or facilities. It is the people who create the environment, and unfortunately, in this case, the atmosphere has been completely undermined by the staff’s unprofessional approach. I hope you will treat this matter seriously and take appropriate measures to improve the quality of service and the way clients are treated.

Negative experience: Any chance of anyone ever answering the phone?

Negative experience: I’ve been going to this gym since it opened about a month ago, and unfortunately, the cleanliness of the men's changing room and showers has been consistently poor. It appears that the area has not been properly cleaned at all—at most, it may have been swept a few times, but that’s about it. There is visible green mold between the tiles in the showers, wet lint clogging the drains, and an overall dirty appearance that makes it clear the place has never had a thorough cleaning. On top of that, there’s a coffee splash on the lockers that has been there for at least two weeks without being cleaned. I’ve taken pictures of everything I’ve described and will attach them to this review as evidence. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and addresses the hygiene issues as soon as possible.

Negative experience: Brought my daughter for swimming lessons, and after she played in park/swings outside. I asked reception if they could get someone to sweep up all the shingle around trampoline, I even offered to do it myself if the gave me a broom, 30 minutes later still waiting

Negative experience: My daughter got severe ear infections after swimming lesson and doctor gave her antibiotic and advised to stop swimming. I requested Houghton Regis leisure Center manager - Danielle Richards to refund the money back, but she is refused. I showed her picture of Hazel ear and antibiotic medication which clearly states for my daughter’s name. I can not send my daughter to swimming if she is having severe ear infection. I need my refund as soon as possible. Awaiting your response.

Negative experience: It’s new I’m local so I thought I would try it out, I now wish I hadn’t bothered! Facilities look great, I booked in for a virtual group cycling 45mins and it didn’t start 3 times, we asked reception to start the group each time we was told just one minute, after 25 mins no one managed to come and press play so I left and asked for a refund, which took two members of staff to tell me they can’t refund as they are not a manager, I had to wait for the manager to approve she originally said no and advised me to join another group Such a shame and a complete waste of time.

Negative experience: Just visited Houghton Regis Leisure centre to make enquiries about disabled swimming. I was told by the receptionist that the swimming timetables are online. When I asked if they actually had disabled swimming, she rang someone and when they didn’t answer, she just said she didn’t know, that was it!!!!!! Train your staff. Will stick to Active Luton

Negative experience: The new leisure centre is going to be opened in the next few weeks, however we've been told that quite a few of the current classes are being cut from the timetable. There's a rumour that they're being replaced by virtual classes. I attended a fully booked class tonight that is being cut from the timetable, nobody attending the class can understandwhy this is. Several of us have submitted feedback to Everyone Active and Central Bedfordshire Council, nobody from either organisation has had the decency to respond.

Fantastic experience: Returned to Houghton Regis Leisure Centre after a year at another gym, (more expensive, not all it was billed, filthy, tired) . Although the building is tired (new building in April/May) very pleased with friendly staff, how clean and tidy changing rooms are and warm showers makes a change from previous place! gym is easy to access, clean and equipment good. very happy to be back.

Negative experience: I Recently moved in the area, I’m not a member but my children attend an activity at the centre, it’s always a long queue to get in bcoz there is only one turnstile and one gate that’s used for people coming in and out and for some reason they never open the wider gate to facilitate a swift entry. And they have this girl at the reception ( mainly Monday evening) she has such poor attitude she makes u feel like u are bothering her when u ask her to let u in.

Positive experience: I use to go here. The gym was lovely, not too big or small and people were friendly. The personal trainers were very helpful.

Negative experience: Seems like since all of the last Gym Staff left it's gone down hill especially since this new company took over . Such a shame to not see the old team anymore. There's never any PT or staff in the gym to even support or help if needed . It's so quiet and Never Ever see any staff in there.

Negative experience: Booked membership for my daughter's swimming lessons. I was told that we can come during public hours practice too. When I brought my daughter during public hours I was told to pay extra on every visit... Already paying for membership.... I cancelled my membership. Such a poor staff service.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this GYM. I have been coming here for a year and I must say all the staff are absolutely friendly! Always greeted with a smile when I come in the mornings & receptionist take their time to remember most people’s names which is lovely. Small gym but never an issue finding equipment to use. This will be my forever gym until I move out of the area! Thank you guys x

Negative experience: Since the new company took over on the 1st of April 2023 I’m being charged double amounts of money for my gym membership , I’ve transferred my kids to Hitchin and I’m still being charged by them as well. What a joke. I miss SLL , the company is a total mess. Just avoid them

Negative experience: Always Keep eyes on your child when they’re learning to swim . I was so disappointed by their behaviour today .my child were taking the swimming lessons today and he was at highly risk of drowning if without help by the other young boy who had try his best to lift him up and help my child to grab the edge .while the instructor just held out the stick to let my child to grab when his eyes was burring ,and he was gulping water with panic .shame on them couldn’t do any better than a boy who is at learning stage .Seems they don’t bother to get themself to the water . And since the leisure centre couldn’t to secure all the kids , they sealed the windows to keep away the parents to keep eyes on their children. leaving a small side window for all the other to squeezed together to check their child situation. Always trust yourself as they just don’t really care any potential dangerous .besides My son sending home straight away with reddish eyes ,bad bellyache .they even didn’t check if he is alright to go , didn’t guide you with professional knowledge to calm you down check the symptoms.thanks again to the boy who saved my child .learned by my lesson do keep eyes on your own children!!!

Fantastic experience: I wasnt attending to do any events as I was waiting for my girlfriend as she had a job interview. I was allowed to sit inside whilst she had her interview to ensure I was comfortable and was offered water I did not catch the guys name but he was friendly and welcoming I would highly recommend as if the staff are as friendly and welcoming as him then it makes for a pleasant experience.

Fantastic experience: Excellent aquafit session this morning. It's really helping with my rehabilitation recovering from breast cancer.

Positive experience: Useful hall for playing badminton. Has 6 courts available for older people to play every Mon, Tuesday & Friday. Pay on attendance at a reasonable cost. Additionally, car parking is available at no extra cost.

Positive experience: I play badminton quite regularly here. Court Hire used to be £7.30 hourly - it's gone up to £8.10 | Free Parking. You have to book in advance via App.

Negative experience: My daughter attended swimming lessons here, would not reccomend. Rude swimming teachers, people walk with shoes in the shower area and swimming area (giving kids and attending swimmers higher chance of getting veruca)

Fantastic experience: There were some karate classes being held here by my sister's martial arts club. This was their temporary venue for some time. Staff are friendly and helpful, there are good facilities and an ample car park. From the leaflets and displays, I gather there is lots to do. Definitely worth a visit.

Positive experience: It is quite a decent centre. It has a lot of items to offer depending on what you want. The stand out factor for me is the large parking space and it is free and convenient compared to other centres I have been. The price was reasonable. But I have noticed the price creeping up.

Positive experience: They do some great classes. Nice little gym. Small uncrowded pool. Badminton Friday and Tuesday mornings too. Staff friendly and helpful. Still a good membership price although sports hall needs updating and lighting sorting out.

Negative experience: The tiled walls in showers in the pool area.were dirty e.g. the standard seems to be very poor . Also the walls had a dirty film of dust on it ..it looks dirty over..

Negative experience: Has enough on offer for its size. But I'm sick of complaining to the about the dirt and grime in the swimming changing area. Its beyond disgusting. When I complained a few months back, I watched staff come in, sign the cleaning sheet and leave without doing anything. They dont care here. Its needs either a deep clean or a refurb in there. No point complaining at reception, nothing gets done.

Fantastic experience: Luton and surrounding areas including Houghton Regis is constantly improving its facilities for young ones and this place is no exception! With super friendly staff, the building packed full of activities for children. For adults, there are drinks facilities on-site whilst you wait for your young ones to burn their energy whilst you relax!
