Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do with JKD London (Sifu Lak Loi)

Fantastic experience: JKD London is a fantastic place to train if you are interested in Martial Arts. The Sifu Lak Loi is highly knowledgeable, professional and makes you feel very comfortable in the space. Prior to starting JKD training I had experienced violent trauma, some might say that re-inacting aggression would be the worst idea but actually it was incredibly healing and very empowering. Through the training my confidence has grown and I feel far better equipped to defend myself both mentally & physically.Without this training I probably would not have begun my campaign to change the legal system and fight to protect the more vulnerable in our society.

Fantastic experience: Lak Loi is a great trainer, first and foremost. I only spent a small time, unfortunately due to other commitments, with lak but as a teacher myself I was very impressed with lak's engaging methods of teaching, his down to earth approach and willingness to explain the fundamentals in detail, and in a very digestible way. I think he'd be good at teaching anything but he's clearly got a lot of passion for jkd. If you want the most out of these classes I would recommend going for all 3 per week as the lessons are themed and sequential. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and if I could have I would have definitely thrown myself into it more. If you're thinking about doing it, just go for it. It's affordable, especially for London, and you won't regret it.

Fantastic experience: This JKD class opened my mind to a new form of exercise and fun, in addition to a starting step on spiritual connections to our actions. The teacher is warm-hearted and genuinely passionate about his teachings, he shares his knowledge with the class with different teachings each lesson. There is always something new to be learnt and shared in the class, in a chilled environment with varied abilities it's easy to feel welcomed and at ease in the classes. Each week has a theme and teaching that resonates with everyone in some way, encouraging a deeper connection to the JKD movements and allowing the messages to be applied outside of class. I left each class feeling like I learnt something new both physically and intellectually, it was always unpredictable and a shared learning experience. I'd highly recommend this class to anyone, of any ability and confidence. Having never done any form of martial arts before this took me by surprise because of its grace, style, importance and feeling of shared accomplishment each time. Fantastic experience: Jeet Kune Do is a rare martial art. You will not find many instructors that have the right combination of physical and mental aptitudes to teach Jeet Kune Do to a high standard. In that respect, and after three years of training, I can confidently say that Lak Loi does an amazing job. Becoming good in a martial art is very hard, but having the right instructor certainly helps. Fantastic experience: A wise man once shared that when something becomes prestigious and valuable, others would start to imitate and try to steal a piece of the pie from the industry. That is why we see imitated copies of branded goods including counterfeit money. This is exactly the same with JKD. There are just too many people out there teaching impractical rubbish and calling it JKD. So what exactly is considered authentic JKD? Well, you first need to know why Bruce Lee founded JKD and learn about his vision and principles for JKD, a way of no nonsense Scientific Street Fighting / Self-Defense. I have visited and trained with numerous JKD groups from various countries in the world and able to weave out which groups train useless stuffs and which groups are serious with No Rules Street Fighting. I reside in Singapore and am not affiliated to Lak Loi's JKD group but I've visited Lak Loi's JKD group a couple of times when I travel to London, and I dare vouch that Lak Loi teaches one of the most authentic JKD around, under Tim Tackett's Wednesday Night JKD Group lineage.

I have trained with him until 2014 when I relocated, however I still have the pleasure to meet up during seminars somewhere in Europe. He is definitely one of the few who carry the torch, which explains why his students only tend to leave when they relocate. Fantastic experience: JKD London has taught JKD to over 400 students since 2007 on Mon, Wed and Thurs evenings and numerous events / seminars. Some other schools teach concepts, Kali or Wing Chun and call it JKD but you can be assured of an authentic JKD experience at JKD London. The schools lineage is primarily Chinatown / Wednesday Night Group JKD via Tim Tackett et al but is also influenced by other JKD instructors such as Chris Kent / Ted Wong.

Even though I only joined his Jeet Kune Do family a few months ago, I can already notice the amazing influence it has on my life. Fantastic experience: I have been train with Sifu Lak Loi for over 2 and half years and it is about time I left a review. It’s funny because the 1 star review has spurred us regular students to share our experiences which in turn will work to strengthen the schools reputation. So I’m afraid the reviewer has achieved the exact opposite to what he set out to do. After attending 4 previous martial arts schools this has been the most holistic and welcoming. I naturally progressed to JKD and it’s philosophies after feeling other MAs lacked something. Sifu is a 3rd gen instructor and has direct lineage to Bruce Lee, and certified by Sifu Tim Tackett I have had the opportunity to train with some of best martial artists and JKD practioners incl the late Sifu Bustillo thanks to the school. (If you don’t know these names then research them). That’s why I know the teaching at the school is authentic and students are dedicated and we train as a family. I have never felt belittled or unable to ask the most basic question. I now have a great social group also thanks to the school. Sifu takes the time to understand your personal struggles and has built my self confidence, i have developed psychologically and physically. If you are not sure, come along and we will welcome you. Fantastic experience: I have been learning much more than just Jeet Kune Do with Sifu Lak for the past 5 years. I started at the age of 32 and not only did I improve in my physical conditioning in the subsequent years, but my mental wellbeing has flourished too. Fantastic experience: I joined Sifu Lak Loi's group a year and a half ago, never having taken a martial arts class, with no idea how to throw a punch, and barely able to do a single push-up.
