Fantastic experience: Excellent experience with a custom build Look Huez. The communication from Jake and Henry was excellent. Great knowledge and helpful tips from Jake when being fitted. I fully recommend Mapdec, particularly if a custom build bike is what you are after.

Fantastic experience: Mapdec really have gone above and beyond to repair and maintain both my road bikes. Great attention to detail and very skilled at what they do. Paul and the team are incredibly helpful, super friendly and always a joy to visit.
Positive experience: I would have put 5 star, knowledge clearly good, rapid turn round, reasonable price, happy on this basis. However I did not appreciate the unasked for critique of my e bike on collection. Its failing seemingly that its marketed as a gravel bike and would be better with front suspension given its weight. I got the bike precisely because it is one of the few e bikes suitable for touring that is not burdened with the pointless (for me) weight of front suspension. It actually weighs 17kg, just 5kg more than my steel tourer but with a 500w battery and a powerful motor in situ, it is a fantastic bike. Picking fault with customers bike does not seem good practice to me. So its a case of hero to zero here and next time I will do what i was originally going to do, and motor on up past to Penrith.
Hey Mick, We are always curious about unusual bikes and I like asking how riders put together a package that suits their needs. Sorry you took a conversation starter as criticism. I learnt a lot form what you described. I had honestly never thought about cycle touring on an ebike before.
Fantastic experience: Found Madpec by watching their videos on YouTube. I had rebuilt my 2016 Stumpjumper but was having creaking from the bottom bracket/ rear of the bike. As they have experience with these issues I knew it was the place to go. Luckily I only live 1 hour away. I brought it in Friday afternoon and they called with an assessment a couple hours later. They fixed the bottom bracket adjusted the rear wheel and installed new bearings. Professional service and affordable rates for top notch servicing. On Monday they called to say the bike was ready. Great friendly positive team. UPDATE: Just went for a ride and the bike is silent and lightehing fast. Thanks for fixing the crazy-making BB creak and the rear wheel service. Best EVER!! Thank you

Negative experience: Awful experience as a distance customer - chased multiple times to try and get them to send me a full invoice so I could pay for an in stock Framset plus a few extra items for a build that they were told was time critical before I finally gave up, ordered a more expensive frameset elsewhere and just swallowed the delay. There is only so many times you can try and give someone ££££! Great You Tube content and perhaps great if you live local to the store but as a distance customer the experience was utter crud. **** just going to add to my review since Mapdec have changed their response and included the private email I sent them. I never asked for a custom build! Was clear from the start I just wanted a Frameset plus a few extra items and that would handle the build myself at my end as I was the other end of the country.shame this couldn’t be resolved in a sensible manner.
Looks like we had a lucky escape here. Changed from commissioning a custom build to just wanting a frame mail order. We are not a retailer, we don't do distance selling. We gave this chap so much of our time and he rewards that with a 1 star review. Body: This is in relation to the one star review I’ve given you and in response to your counter comment as it won’t let me reply via google reviews. I was told very clearly that you had a black Look 785 Huez frameset physically in hand that was for sale, I was even sent an email to pay a deposit for but contacted the store before paying it to confirm lead times and it was at that point we amended the order slightly and I asked to be sent another payment link so I could either pay the deposit or the full balance. I was clear from the start that I only wanted a Frameset plus a few finishing kit bits as I had a drivetrain and wheels in hand and intended to build it up myself. I made it clear I was down south so needed the frame shipping and I was told all of this was fine. I even proceeded to book an appointment with my bike fitter and communicated my timelines to you and was told this would not be a problem. I have half a dozen calls logged to you on either Friday the 19th, Monday 22nd or Tuesday 23rd with the Monday and Tuesday being me chasing to try and get an invoice and payment link sent. I never received an amended invoice or payment link, any form of email or phone call to update me or even just a cancellation email. I should not have to chase multiple times to try and actually pay a retailers over £2500! Net result is I’ve accepted I’ll need to delay my fitting appointment and placed an order with a retailer closer to home and spent the extra £1000 for a Time ADH. I do not see any need to change my review or star rating as I feel they are an accurate representation of my experience. As I said you’re clearly doing something right for your local customers and make some great YT content but actually trying to be a customer when not local has been a truly crappy experience.

Phoned Mapdec and they ordered one for me,I know they had troubles sorting the part which was from the Look side of things,arrived this morning .cheers lads

Fantastic experience: The other day I was in panic as I had Gold Duke of Edinburgh in 3 days time, I was to do it on my mountain bike, though it was in a poor state, almost unrideable. I called in for a last minute service, got it down the next day. Before afternoon of the next day (today as I write), it was ready and all problems were fixed, exactly what I asked. I leave for my expedition tomorrow. Couldn't have done it without their help and fast work. Incredible customer service!

Fantastic experience: Just finished an introductory bike Maintenence Course with Mapdec (and Kendal College) and couldn't not give a big shout out to Jake, who was fantastic throughout the whole course. Additionally, I have used him and the team before for various repairs, all of which have been excellent. Would highly reccomend for either a repair or learning. Great team!

Fantastic experience: Was out on the bike today and started to problems with back brake. Called into Mapdec Paul put it on the stand and found brake shoes had worn down replaced them and I was back on the road within 30 minutes. Fantastic service

Fantastic experience: Many things to mention that are excellent service at Mapdec, attention to detail, dedication, philosphy towards cycling and developing ones ability. Paul's coaching services for PBP were invaluable both before and during the event, along with the training faciilities. Paul's built a new bike for endurance cycling and his depth of knowledge and understanding resulted in a bike that surpassed my expectations and is a joy to ride on long distance, multi day events. Recently Dave serviced that bike and to say it rides like new is an understatment. All round excellent

Fantastic experience: Time and time again Mapdec Cycle Works have saved the day when it comes to looking after my bikes. From complex problems to simple fixes, they’ve spent the time dissecting the problem, staying in close contact to figure out exactly what they can do to help, and where possible, given me options as to various ways they can fix the issue, purchasing the parts needed for the job at the lowest prices I’ve ever been able to find, and then always promptly completing the job and letting me know when I can collect my bike. They are fantastically knowledgeable, personable and honest. As far as I am concerned, they are second to none and an asset to the cycling community in Kendal and the South Lakes.

Fantastic experience: I've used Mapdec's bicycle workshop and their dedicated cycling fitness gym. Both of these experiences have been first class. The gym uses the latest cycling tech and is perfect for those who want to measure and improve their fitness. The workshop provides an excellent service and the mechanics have an attention to detail which is so important.
