Fantastic experience: A travesty this is closing. Was by far the best gym in York, friendly staff, great cafe, brand new equipment, hygienic, great vibe and atmosphere. Please reconsider!

Fantastic experience: Without doubt best gym I’ve ever been to. It looks sleek and modern, all the equipment is new and well maintained and all the staff and other members are really friendly, the people watching out of the window while you’re doing cardio is an added bonus! Honestly couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

Fantastic experience: I was a member for the year in 2022 and unfortunately recently ended this due to moving house, but will definitely be returning on individual passes when I visit the city centre. A stunning gym, beautifully set out, new equipment and the friendliest PTs. Classes are great, diverse offering, great times and the coaches make them accessible for all fitness levels. Nat and Charlotte really get to know each individual to help you challenge yourself to reach your goals. The 6.45 class group are such a friendly bunch and create a welcoming and motivational space to work out. The cafe food is consistently delicious and a great place for a coffee if you fancy a change from working from home. Lydia puts on some great gym socials too on a regular basis if you’re looking to meet new, likeminded people in York! To top it all off the changing rooms are lovely and there’s even a sauna hidden away that you can book. Supersonic goes above and beyond your standard gym!

Fantastic experience: Supersonic is a welcoming oasis of calmness in the middle of York. The classes are great and the staff always treat you as if you’re really special. During lockdown, I hurt my shoulder and was able to visit supersonic for a massage with Nat. A few visits with her care and attention soon saw me back to normal. I now regularly visit for a sports massage and regard it as an essential part of my fitness regime. Thanks to Nat, I always look forward to the next visit.

Fantastic experience: Really fab gym! Not only are the staff super friendly and approachable - but so are the other members and there has been a lovely welcoming atmosphere from day 1. Feels more like a community than just a fitness centre. The classes are really amazing and only have a small number of individuals in each one - a great range from yoga to barre to strength to HIIT. I was even lucky enough to win a free PT session (with Damian) which was amazing to learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively - it also allows me to use piece of equipment I wouldn't have felt able to approach before. All round great gym - it is definitely great value for everything you get!

Fantastic experience: I spent most of my life convinced that I hate to work out, and one day I had a barre class with Charlotte that changed everything - She is a great teacher, she helps me pushing myself but at the same time she is super kind and supportive. The yoga classes with Rebecca are also superb, she is very knowledgeable and friendly, she pushes us during the class but at the same time she always make sure that we are comfortable with the practice, suggesting alternative poses when we are challenged. It is a very positive and supportive environment, I am definitely signing up!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Supersonic for personal training with Nat for nearly 2 years. She pushes me to work hard but but knows my limitations which makes me feel at ease and is why I keep going back. The food in the Supersonic Cafe is fantastic and Ash the chef is very helpful when it comes to ordering take away food for special occasions. I never dread going to the gym because I know Nat and the team are going to make me feel so welcome as soon as I arrive. Brilliant gym, amazing cafe and fab PT's!

Fantastic experience: The gym doesn't get crowded so you can guarantee a good workout without waiting to use some equipment. I also like being able to use the studio area downstairs to workout when there aren't any classes on as sometimes it's nice to have a space to yourself. The changing facilities are spotless and I'm looking forward to trying out the recovery zone.

Fantastic experience: Having been a perennial gym user for many years, I hoped that joining Supersonic would provide a fresh impetus and structure to my training. I decided to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of Damian Manning, one of Supersonic’s PTs. Damian’s specialism is powerlifting and I specifically needed coaching and technical advice on how to get the most from lifting weights whilst minimising injuries (I have a lower back problem) Damian guided me through techniques and tips for squats, bench pressing and dead lifts over 3 separate sessions and then created a flexible 3 day training programme which we stepped through in detail across 3 further PT sessions. I can’t thank Damian enough for his professionalism, subject-matter knowledge and easygoing coaching style. I now have a core programme that incorporates lifting and the benefits of resistance training but also have the confidence that my technique is sound. I have no hesitation of recommending Damian to anyone wanting to improve their strength training programmes.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member here since last summer and just love it!!. The staff are all really professional and friendly and the equipment is state of the art. I have been a member of a number of gyms in and around York over the years at both the budget and exclusive end of the market and this is by far and away the best.

Fantastic experience: Somewhere between a high end gym and spa, I am new member and can't wait to get back into the gym when lockdown is lifted. It's a very zen, tranquil and clean gym with lots of open space, natural light and lots of plants.

Positive experience: Clean gud food. Maybe caught the chap behind counter having a bad day asked for desserts said he is busy cleaning will get to us... Ouch. 20 mins later we had our coats on

Fantastic experience: I've been a member here since day dot. The staff are friendly and if you're a regular you'll get to know them well along with the members too. There's a really nice community vibe here where everyone talks to each other. The staff are knowledgeable, not pushy, genuinely want to do the best for their members and will regularly ask for feedback. I mainly do the classes rather than the gym as I prefer someone telling me what to do and not having to think about reps and what to do next. I've tried all the classes but my favourite and go to is Super60; I like the strength and cardio side to it. The class sizes are not big so you get extra focus from the PTs which is useful if your form or posture is not quite right. When I have the time, I use the sauna or infrared sauna after the class. They do the job in relaxing the body and mind although they are closed at the moment (quite rightly) because of COVID-19 restrictions. The power shower afterwards is just brilliant!! The place is clean and modern including their cafe. The food is tasty and nutritious and their coffee is great too. As a vegan, there is always something available and the menu changes everyday. The cafe is a quiet place to go if you want to get some work done on your laptop or just read. I've been a member at other gyms including chains and council ones over the last 2 decades. Taking into account the varied membership options, Supersonic by far is the best all rounder for me. The gym has just re-opened following lockdown. There are procedures in place to keep themselves and members safe as per the guidelines. I'm happy to be back and see familiar faces; staff and members alike....just patiently waiting for the cafe to be re-opened now :)

Fantastic experience: Supersonic is a forwarding thinking place to work out; it offers the opportunity to speak to highly qualified fitness professionals at any time and/or provides time to relax and eat healthy delicious food. The concept is unique and tailored with different memberships designed with you in mind. In particular the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, the changing rooms immaculate and the food super tasty. I highly recommend trying it out - every detail has been thoroughly thought through to make your visit(s) enjoyable and successful in what you are looking to achieve.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym! The welcome I had from staff is what you would expect in a first class business lounge, really helpful & friendly which sets it apart from other gyms. The equipment is top quality but the part I most look forward to each visit is the recovery room with infrared sauna & ice recovery, it’s really well thought out and allows for a good wind down after a hard session. The cafe downstairs does great coffee and provides a really nice space to chill or do some work post workout.

Fantastic experience: What a high standard environment! The changing rooms are tidy and clean, full of large mirrors and all the accessories you might needed to make you feel and look at your best after a gym session or a class. Also there is a direct access to the restore area where you can enjoy both the regular sauna as well as infrared sauna. Gorgeous!!

Fantastic experience: As a First time Gym goer. I love that all the staff are welcoming and knowledgable about health, especially when helping me towards my goals. The layout of gym gives me all the space I need and all the equipment to challenge myself. There is also an infrared sauna to recover in. The cafe has great healthy food and coffee that motivates me to be better. Highly recommend this place for anybody at any level of fitness. Thank you everyone at Supersonic.

Fantastic experience: Finally, a beautiful gym in York that you actually want to spend time in! Every little detail has been so well though through and the team have made me feel part of the family already. Love my training sessions and I don't dread getting changed afterwards as it's so spa-like! The cafe below serves tasty, healthy food, and I'm using it even when i'm not training. A little piece of zen in the city centre - highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Don't let the exterior put you off! Welcoming staff both in the gym and cafe and everyone is always asking if there is anything they can help with. Coffee is great, still waiting to try the grub but the menu looks brilliant. As for the gym itself, it's light, spacious, clean and you don't feel even remotely judged. The guys who have put this gym together have definitely done it right, it is what York has been waiting for!
