Fantastic experience: Great place and great staff! People there are friendly and welcoming which made starting much eaiser. The classes are really good and they gym is an amazing add on especally as it is 24hr. I have recently started buying the meal prep pots they do and it is a game changer, being able to go to one place do your training then have a shower and eat your food. Makes the lunch time workouts easy to stick to.

Fantastic experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gym01 Portsmouth is absolutely fantastic! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed and part of a community. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help and support you in achieving your fitness goals. The variety of classes offered is impressive, and I personally love the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and kickboxing classes. The coaches are exceptional, providing expert guidance and motivation. What makes Gym01 even more special is that it's a great place for families. My two kids also attend Gym01, participating in the BJJ and kids' kickboxing classes. They always have a blast and are learning so much. The specialized sessions for juniors create a comfortable and inclusive environment for all ages. The facilities are top-notch, with spacious matted floors, well-maintained equipment, and clean locker rooms and showers. The community here is supportive and encouraging, making every workout session enjoyable and rewarding. I can't recommend Gym01 enough – it's the best gym in Portsmouth for both adults and kids!

Fantastic experience: Both my sons have been going to mma gyms now for 18 months and they’ve been at gym 01 for 12 of those months. This is easily the best gym they’ve trained at. They both do bjj with coach Henry who has helped them massively with their confidence. My older son also does boxing with coach andy who is very professional and it’s exactly what a parent likes to see. Best gym in the area by miles!!!!

Fantastic experience: If you want to train MMA in portsmouth this is the place to be. Good coaches and team mates. Having a gym bolted onto where you train your martial arts is also very helpful as you're able to get your strength and conditioning done at the same place.

Fantastic experience: Where do I start? After having numerous talks (some very drunk) with my good mate and head honcho, Gareth for a long time, I decided to jump in. I’ve now been training at Gym01 for around 3.5yrs. Firstly having 1-2-1 kickboxing lessons with Baby Limbs (Michael Lucy) then building up my confidence to join the KB classes - I absolutely love it! The atmosphere, the community, the staff, the coaches, everything. And I genuinely can’t thank Gym01 enough for literally saving my life. I was in a dark place since being a teen, for a bloody long time and they gave me something that I’ve fallen in love with.

Fantastic experience: Hands down the best martial arts gym I've ever been to! The teaching is second to none, broken down into segments with a syllabus so you can track your progress and knowledge at a pace that suits you. The coaches are incredible, and are always there to help you and improve you and your skills. I've been a member of this gym 2 years today actually - its neen the best thing ive ever done and I have seen myself massively improve in that time! Also, the people are lovely, whether you want to do it to compete or just to meet new people Gym01 has it all and you actually look forward to exercising! And it's suitable for beginners and people that are more advanced so you can go at your learning pace! Anyone that is teetering on the edge of joining, I urge you to try it out because you won't want to leave.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place! Setting foot in my first kickboxing class in my late 40s was quite daunting but that was a few years ago and I’m in this place 3-4 times a week now. The coaches are so supportive and try to get the best out of you, whether you just want to gain a bit of fitness, increase your confidence, train for belts or fight competitively. It’s a great place to train.

Fantastic experience: No gym like it 5*'s!! best coaches on the south coast with huge experience, there are lots of different disciplines of martial arts to learn, from MMA, BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing. From helping people who just want to keep fit, to pro atheletes, all skill levels catered, including a fab 24/7 gym. I could not recomend this gym enough, i love every second i spend here.

Fantastic experience: I don’t leave a lot of reviews and I got recommended to leave one today so I decided to give my best reflection on my experience so far here. I have been a member at gym 01 for about 9 months now and as well as making great progress fitness wise I’ve also made some friendly connections within the gym something I’ve not really done at other gyms. Everyone is really nice and welcoming in my opinion, the gym is well managed and kept clean pretty consistently (I’ve never had ringworm). I throughly enjoy the mma sessions led by Brian and I have started to delve into some of the kickboxing classes. Reception have always been helpful for me with both management of my membership and for helping you with lost items. The only thing I could say is ever so slightly difficult is that parking can be a little bit of a challenge at peak times. But to add to this I’ve never missed a class due to not being able to get somewhere.

Negative experience: Booked in kids for trial session, boxing, to be honest not the best experience. Not greeted didn’t know what was going on as all kids were upstairs told to sit down stairs no seats available sat on floor class finished in a hour didn’t have a clue what the kids did and no one spoke to us afterwards class dispursed didn’t even know who trained them. No value added event don’t think I’ll be returning. No structure.

Fantastic experience: Easily one of the best gyms in the UK Been down for the past two summers with work around uni and the gym, instructing, facilities, reception team and equipment are all amazing. Gives you the opportunity to learn multiple disciplines to extremely high standards in a completely begginers welcoming environment. Coaches will take the time to learn a bit about you, how your fitness is and your ability and use that to individually teach and push you in the classes and continue to develop your skills. Big shout out to Michael for getting me back in shape two summers in a row, and thankyou Gareth for breaking my conception of what "in shape" is If you're in the area and want to try a gym I highly recommend Gym 01, haven't been able to find anywhere as good inbetween training here and will definetly miss it. Big thankyou to the kickboxing team (...and Bailey) and Gary for an amazing summer of kickboxing/muay thai

Fantastic experience: I am not a gym01 member and I’m not best placed to review the gym itself either as it has been many years since I was there in person and I’m sure it has changed. However - I do know 3 of the coaches Brian, Gareth and Colin and have known them all a long time. Anyone on here leaving one star reviews calling the coaches bullies has a separate agenda. These guys have not only built gym01 into what it is now, they also run shock n awe: which is the south coasts most successful and I think probably longest running MMA event. They would not have these things if they were not people of integrity.. they’d have been found out ages ago and bad reviews would already be lodged rather than suddenly coming out of nowhere in the last month. I can say hand on heart that the coaches are absolute professionals devoted to the sport and are martial artists in every sense of the word. Before I moved away from the south coast, I trained with them in gyms that existed before gym01. I know first hand that the relationship they build with their students and the time they invest in them is about ensuring those students can be the best possible version of themselves. There is no way these guys are bullies and the negative review agenda seems to be about tearing their reputation down with lies. Ignore the 1 star reviews! If you want to find out what gym01 is about… speak to the REAL students or contact the gym and speak to the coaches. Even better, go do a trial session…Don’t rely on some of the fake reviews written here! My 5 stars is for the coaches who are 100% the real deal

Fantastic experience: The greatest place I've ever been. This place changed my life just over 5 years ago. Without Gym01 I wouldn't be who I am today. My physical and mental wellbeing has improved beyond what I ever thought possible and I gave made true friends for life! The coaches and staff all do an incredible job. They are approachable and take time to get to know you and your goals. If you are there for fitness and fun, that's what they will give you. If you want to fight they'll get you there. Fantastic experience: Where to begin… It has been such a joy to find a gym that I feel so welcomed and at home in. As a female with no prior martial arts experience, it’s safe to say I was a little nervous when I first entered the gym. The coaches and team members are incredible. They are genuinely invested in you and the atmosphere is like no other. You immediately feel like you’re part of the family. I’ve done a couple of gradings, experienced one to one sessions from various coaches and attended beginners and advance kickboxing classes. Although I can be flakey (due to work and travel), which is accommodated for in the varying membership types, I always seem to find my way back to Gym 01. Keep up the amazing work guys!

All the coaches at gym01 have a wealth of knowledge and experience in their Pacific disciplines of martial arts. Loved my time when I was there. definitely one of the best mixed martial art gyms in the south coast.

Fantastic experience: I heard about Gym01 after a week of moving to Hampshire due to the reputation they have built and the high level of people they have training there. I'd heard Gym01 had some top fighters, but what I didn't expect to find was some seriously lovely human beings and a great atmosphere, especially for beginners! I have travelled all over the world and trained at some top gyms, but I have never been as welcomed by the community as I have here! No matter your belt level or previous experience, you're treated with respect and really looked after. I travel a long distance every day to train here simply because the coaches are funny, compassionate, and highly skilled at what they do! Thanks for welcoming me to your family!

Being a woman it can be quite overwhelming to join a new gym (especially if it’s a male dominated gym) however there are a lot of woman there to my surprise who are so lovely and friendly. I love how the coach’s treat you all equally. The coach’s are absolutely brilliant and patient. At times I struggled in the class due to being new but they are always willing to help and made sure I understood no matter how many times I needed help in classes! If you’re hesitant in joining this gym (like I was) don’t be. Best thing I did. Can’t wait to bring my little girl when she’s a little older!

Fantastic experience: I sadly left Gym01 a year ago after relocating, but had to leave a review after hearing about the slanderous reviews from local competitors. The gym is small, but contains EVERYTHING anyone should need to workout and is always quiet enough that you don’t have to wait for equipment. The staff are so lovely and helpful. The community of the gym is one you can feel right away, on a few occasions I’ve had other gym-goers approach me and politely and helpfully correct my form. I only attended classes as a beginner for a few sessions, but the instructors were helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and non-judgmental to those who clearly didn’t have a clue (me). The gym was always clean and well kept. I wish I could still workout here. Keep doing what you’re doing!!

I was very nervous about starting training, as I had no martial-arts experience at all and was worried this would hold me back, or even worse the class back..... but this really wasn't the case. All the staff and coaches are very supportive and welcoming and are happy to answer any worries or concerns you may have. The classes themselves have a wide range of different people, with a wide range of different levels of fitness and experience,-from first timers like myself, to experienced fighters.... all there supporting each other. The classes feel well structured and are delivered in a very professional manner, with the coaching team always there to give advice and encouragement when needed. The gym it's self is very well equipped for all your needs, from large open matt spaces, to a full sized cage and boxing ring this gym really dose cater for sll your needs I really couldn't recommend gym01 more.... Fantastic experience: I joined Gym01 a couple of months ago after moving to Portsmouth. It was a big step for me as I suffer social anxiety combined with not knowing anybody in Portsmouth. Both the staff and the members made it a very easy and enjoyable experience, everyone is very approachable and helpful. The instructors are all extremely knowledgable and break things down to make them easy enough to understand, even if you have now experience with martial arts. My only regret is not joining earlier.

Fantastic experience: I have trained at gym 01 for a number of years now, originally looking to improve my fitness, and have now competed in shows and am working towards my next grading. The atmosphere is fantastic, everyone is so friendly and welcoming from the staff and coaches, to the members. There is a huge variety of classes to choose from and even something for the little ones (who always look like they're having the best time)! The coaching is outstanding and everything is well explained/demonstrated. They are always there to help and nothing is too much trouble. There is alot of encouragement to be the best version of you. The gym expands over two floors with high quality equipment, cage and matted areas. In the joining unit, there is a 24 hour gym, again with a great choice of equipment to use. I have been a serial gym joiner in the past, but gym 01 has captivated me from the start and it feels like a second home!

Fantastic experience: I have been training at Gym01 for over 4 years now. The atmosphere in here is amazing! Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and helpful, as soon as you walk through the door. Both sides of the gym have two floors, as well as a ring and octagon, allowing for so much space to train. It has a wide range of equipment available for you to use. There's a large variety of classes to take part in as well, catering from 4 yrs and upwards. The coaches are very encouraging and supportive to all members in every session. I was extremely well looked after and kept safe while I was pregnant too, I can't wait for my littlin to start Mini ninjas!
