Powerhouse Gym

Fantastic experience: I used the facilities at the Powerhouse Gym today. Specifically The Recovery Room which has state of the art equipment. The facilities are always clean and tidy and the staff are always at hand to help you with your needs. The whole atmosphere from start to finish is a positive one. I came away feeling relaxed. The Recovery Room is a great way to unwind after using the gym, with an infrared sauna, ice baths amd lots of massage equipment. First class, really love it there.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to multiple gyms in south shields and powerhouse is by far the best. Friendly staff, lights aren't too bright which is a plus for me since I’m sensory sensitive. They have all the equipment i need and if I'm stuck with anything either other members help or the staff. It is a gym I highly recommend to my friends to join Tried the recovery room for the first time today and I'm already obsessed. The sauna is amazing and could have stayed in it all day. They have a lovely area for stretching too along with lots of gadgets for massaging. The room and equipment is very clean and at a very high quality. The perfect addition to help my body recover and will be spending a-lot of my time on rest days in there ! I would recommend that 30mins is not long enough for a full experience of this room and to totally de-stress and hour is needed.

Fantastic experience: My first time in an ice bath and infrared sauna, felt amazing afterwards. Reenergised and reinvigorated, facilities are high end, with no expense spared. Definitely recommend it, and I’ll be a regular user. The gym is banging, with a great selection of equipment.

Fantastic experience: A very friendly atmosphere and well set up gym. And a great place to train. Monthly membership is very competitive with other gyms, but the quality of equipment blows the competition away on overall value. Lots of machines, two big racks of dumbbells, and lots of cardio machines to choose from as you work your way around the gym. The staff always greet you with a welcome smile. The gym atmosphere, even at peak times, is really good. The music has a good feel factor, and gets you into that training zone. Pre and post workout food can be ordered at the gyms in-house kitchen … all freshly cooked food, with a protein busting menu. A good selection of pre-workout drinks and ready made protein shakes can also be purchased from reception. There are shower facilities on-site, which are clean and modern. Towels not supplied. Lockers are available. There is a large council car park with plenty of parking at the rear of the gym (North St car park). Ticket required. Access to the gym is from King street

Fantastic experience: Gym has pretty much everything but parking is the only issue, however you can park about 1-3 min away for free it's more the council's fault for charging for parking.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome. Really good pay per day rate which is ideal when working in the area. Friendly staff and members too. Brilliantly equipped gym with everything you could ever need. It's a must if you're in to health and fitness and either live or visiting the area.

Positive experience: Old school gym with MMA & CrossFit facilities, sauna, showers, sunbeds, healthy eating cafe parking etc etc. 3min walk from South Shields Metro. Lots of plate loaded machines, Nautilus equipment, dumbbells upto 60kg. More weights than cardio machines which is normally a good sign. Atmosphere is a no nonsense one but everyone is respectful and the staff are friendly. Honestly for the combined total of everything that's on offer here, and at the price, you can't really go wrong if you're after a change from the big chain gyms.
