Fantastic experience: GU and their teachers are the business! They really know the art of BJJ in all it’s technicalities. They adeptly communicate those skills to the students with amazing clarity, understanding of each individual and respect to all levels. This club caters for both fighters who take progress in BJJ very seriously as well as those exploring its’ potential.. You have so many options to take part at a time when is convenient to you, as I have not seen such an extensive timetable of classes for all levels! There is a friendly, supportive, safe and family atmosphere amongst the members which allows you to make BJJ a way of life.

Fantastic experience: My young son and I have been training here for a little over 2 years now. Having trained with many different clubs both in the UK and Australia I would say that this is one of the best around. It's a great club, with great instructors, which is safe for one and all. Though a little hard to find the first time, so here's a photo of the entrance... Down the alleyway, turn left, then turn right and go downstairs.

Grand Union Brighton is for you, situated in this lovely cute village of Rottingdean. Well recommended!!

Fantastic experience: Always friendly atmosphere feels more like a family than a business place. Helping our hole family dealing with physical and mental health. Giving the kids more then just a material art lesson it is also life skills overcoming boundaries and dealing with difficult situations what life might through at them. As grown ups it gives us a place to meet with different people, we can live our day to day worries behind us and let go a bit with a family like atmosphere pushing us to limits what we newer thought is possible to reach both physically and mentally is very empowering and therapeutic at the same time. I can’t recommend enough to everybody to any ages this place is like a home outside home once you try you never want to be anywhere else again.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been training at GUJJ (Grand Union Jui Jitsu) for nearly 7 months. At first I was nervous to take the plunge into the (perceived) intimidating world of BJJ after years of wanting to try it out. I needn’t of worried. My initial contact was via email with Mario who was super helpful and encouraging. On my first night I was welcomed by the GUJJ Instructors Cesar, Eduardo and Mario - such a warm welcome - lots of smiles - everyone was very welcoming. A couple classes later Mario helped me to get kitted out and showed me how to tie my belt. Since then I’ve not looked back!!! I manage to train 3 times a week and have attended classes by all three instructors. The classes are so enjoyable and I really appreciate the emphasis on training and progressing together. At GUJJ you will definitely get more than you bargained for! It will be harder than you think! More fun than you think! You’ll be able to do things you thought you would never master! (especially if you are a 45 year old OG). You’ll feel better about yourself on and off the mats and you will have tonnes of fun and laughs in the process! Perhaps the best thing about GUJJ though is that it feels like home - it feels like ‘my place’ - this must be testament to the way GUJJ has been lovingly crafted by its instructors to be foremost a community of warm hearted, supportive and decent people trying to make it on the mats and in life. I love Jui Jitsu - but I love GUJJ more! I am now officially addicted to BJJ and look forward to doing it for as long as I can manage to pull on my Gi, tie my belt and roll onto the mats……..Love!

Fantastic experience: I have been training at this club since it opened and absolutely love it. The vibe is so nice and without bias or ego's. Lovely, warm welcoming environment for everyone. The instructors are so knowledgeable and patient it helps with all levels of learning and they are all very supportive of all thier students.

Fantastic experience: Great club, very welcoming. We moved down from London and were so happy to finally find a good club. My son has come on so much. I like the fact he gets taught self defence and respect. He trains twice a week but would do every day if he could.

Fantastic experience: Been training here for a short while. Facilities are fantastic and the instructors Mario and Cesar and awesome. As a beginner they are clear with instruction and have loads of patience. Great for children or adults. Would recommend for adults wanting to improve fitness and confidence. Always a bonus to support a local business.

Fantastic experience: The lessons are well organised, the place is big, well decorated and clean. The teachers are very good and the kids enjoy their lessons, parents are welcome. César is very easy going and all staff is great. When booking more than a lesson a week the price is very good value. I'm very grateful my kid is enjoying these lessons.

Fantastic experience: Excellent coaching and training, a great, modern facility, a great community and team atmosphere and excellent kids classes. I've trained a many BJJ gyms around the world and Grand Union Brighton is certainly world class. Cesar and Mario are expert coaches at the highest level who make sure training is fun, safe, challenging and rewarding. There is a great mix of levels and styles in the people who train there but there is a consistent culture of respect, friendship and mutual progression. Very highly recommended for beginners and experts alike.

I feel privileged to learn from the coaches there as the quality of teaching is the best , and they make everyone very welcome. Fantastic experience: My boy age 5 now in year 1 has never been one to listen or enjoy sports in the past. However he absolutely loves his Jiu jitsu and I can tell he’s so proud to be part of it. His listening skills are excellent during the training sessions as the coaches are firm but fair and also very friendly.

The quality of coaching is extremely high and there are many well experienced teammates to lend their advice. I've been made to feel very welcome and feel that I am part of a real team who look out for each other. I look forward to every session that I attend and am excited about my BJJ journey.

Fantastic experience: I've been involved in Martial Arts for over 15 years and Ivam teaches one of the very best classes i've had the privilege to attend. BJJ academy successfully combine an old school BJJ training ethic with contemporary concepts. Ivam in particular teaches with an enthusiasm on the mat that is contagious he's always smiling but serious about his art. If you've never stepped foot on the mat or are an experienced Martial Artist BJJ academy is a must visit!
