Fantastic experience: Incredibly motivating. The knowledge the CTPT Team have and the atmosphere in the sessions really gives the me the boost I need. Having been a "regular" gym goer and not having the will power to really make the most of it, going here pushes me that bit harder. They provide expert direction and those subtle tweaks really make a difference. And they make sure I don't flare up old injuries :-)

Fantastic experience: The best combination of training and fun. Expert advice you can trust. Help with all aspects of your fitness and health journey. Personalised exercises where needed for injuries. A team who keep themselves updated, relevant and care about what they do! I've been a regular since June 2023 and it's now integral to my weekly calendar.
Fantastic experience: I spent a year away from training with kidney issues and needed to get back to some form of training. A work colleague was already at CT Barbell and she loved it and she put my name forward to be contacted. I received a text from Sam, and arranged a meeting to go and have a meeting. That meeting was the best thing I have ever done. Sam asked me what I wanted and my goals with the training, but the rest of the meeting was about activities outside of training. This to me was so focused and like Sam said you are at the gym for an hour what do you do with the rest of your time. I signed up for the 6 week programme and I was introduced to Tristan who was going to mentor me during the six weeks. I had a meeting with Tristan and we set goals on the training and with the nutritional side of things. Each week Tristan would phone and text to make sure everything was ok and if I needed any support. I felt fully supported right the way through and lost a stone in weight. The programming I fell in love with, with the perfect balance of strength and conditioning. A few weeks in I started buying my meals from @getprepped which helped my weight loss massively. The meals are prepared and balanced and they are incredible and excellent value for money. I have now been with CT Barbell for 4 months, I have lost 2 stone and I am getting so much fitter. The coaches are amazing and they are by your side every step of the way. This is more than a gym it's a community and everyone has their own goals and the coaches are there to help you achieve them. This is the best thing I have done and I can't thank the team for all the support they give me on a daily basis. If you are at a crossroads or can't find your way back to get fit then walk through that door or pick up the phone, IT WILL BE THE BEST THING YOU HAVE DONE AND IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
Fantastic experience: Without doubt the BEST personal training gym in Canterbury FACT! If like me, you need constant motivation in a gym and don’t want to think about what exercises you are doing then this is the place for you. The small group personal training sessions are incredible, only 6 people per one trainer with a max of 12 per class. Loads of booking options available throughout the day/week to work with anyone’s work/home schedule. Each impressive trainer make their sessions fun, plus their tailored approach to each person is spot on! The team training (up to 24 people) is also a fantastic way to train in a social fun environment. A great community and trust me don’t waste your money with commercial gyms and personal trainers who are so predictable each and every session (which I have over the last 20 years) before finding Sam, Tristan and the amazing team at CTPT.
Fantastic experience: I completed their 6 week trial over the summer; not knowing what to expect. CTPT do not disappoint. If you are after personal training with the added bonus of a community feel, then look no further, you not only get your own personal coach, but you receive the expertise and support from all of their coaching staff alongside the social and mutual support from all their other members who all share the same drive to make your time an enjoyable yet challenging experience. They train you in small groups, yet manage to make your session personalised to your goals and needs, with various alterations and tweaks to what you are doing which is what impressed me the most. They work on a 12 week fitness rotation but also focus on what you did in previous weeks to ensure you are challenging yourself each week so if you need that accountability and push they provide that in abundance. To add to the already community feel you get from the small group sessions, they also do team training sessions, gym social events outside of working hours at the weekend such as club runs, cinema bookings, and I witnessed member personalised events too such as sessions to help prepare for events such as Hyrox, Athx or just Halloween themed for fun. They really do go the extra mile to make everything personalised not just your training, getting to know you as a person. They run sessions from 6am! All the way to finishing some nights at 9pm. There is a small window of no sessions in the middle of the day but you see them using that time for meetings and CPD that ensure all of their coaches are on the same page and you really do see it in practice when you see them working together during sessions to provide you with the best support and advice. You really need to just give a session a try and see for yourself!

Fantastic experience: Joining this gym has been the best investment I've made in myself. The SGPT format (Small Group Personal Training) means I get workouts that are personalized to my strength and ability. The trainers are exceptional, always making sure my form is on point and that every workout is the right level of challenge. They really care about your progress and are there every step of the way. This has completely changed my view of weight training and functional fitness, making it feel accessible to anyone. What I love most is that it’s not a scary place at all. The absence of mirrors removes a lot of the intimidation factor, allowing you to focus entirely on your workout. You don’t have to watch yourself in a mirror—the trainers are there to help with that. The community is fantastic, a welcoming group with lots of different people, many I now consider friends. I've gained so much from being a member here, not just in fitness but also in confidence and overall well-being. Whether you’re a complete beginner or more advanced, this gym is a fantastic place to challenge yourself in a supportive and encouraging environment. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to make a positive change!
Fantastic experience: Now on week 4 of my time with CTPT and it is the best decision I could have made. I was full of anxiety and nerves, being unfit and 40 and never having really worked out before, especially in a group setting. But I was put at ease so quickly and it is now my favourite part of my day! The coaches aren't just extremely knowledgeable and skilled, they are patient, kind, and always ready with a smile and full of energy to motivate you, especially at the 6am session I join. Everyone, not just the coaches, has been so welcoming and I am loving quickly becoming part of such a caring community of people. And, most importantly. I'm feeling fitter, stronger, and healthier already. So excited to keep the journey going.
Fantastic experience: As a very overweight 56 year old woman with a lifetime history of diets and exercise and gym fails; I was inspired by 2 of my clients to check out CTPT. Very glad I have. About 10 weeks in and I'm having a very positive experience. Individual and small group training sessions that have made me feel confident. The trainors are exceptionally trained, knowledgeable in dealing with my training, aches, pains, nutritional needs.the community of fellow gym members is a bonus as everyone is kind and welcoming. Best is I dont feel judged instead I'm getting a lifeline from my trainers who keep in touch with me even outside the gym encouraging and supporting me. Fantastic experience: CTPT is one of a kind! My husband and I joined in November and have really benefitted from the small group PT and team training sessions they run. We have previously struggled to know what to do in gyms and have loved the incredible level of support and guidance you receive from all four coaches at CTPT. These coaches are there with you every step of the way as you work towards your goals both in and out of the gym. We would recommend CTPT to anyone!
Fantastic experience: I signed up to CTPT back in November when my body confidence was rock bottom after having a baby the year before, and after not having exercised for at least over a year, my strength needed some serious focus. I’m now 8 months in and have an entirely different body composition - I’ve gained so much muscle, lost body fat but, most importantly, I can lift and fling my daughter around with ease! The sessions aren’t like any other gym I’ve been to - it’s “small group personal training” so it’s like having your own PT but with the added benefit of having a friend to chat to / moan about how hard it is! They strike the balance between pushing you hard and knowing when to tailor something based on your body make up. All 4 trainers are wonderful too. CTPT isn’t only a gym, it’s a community (and an incredible one at that). They really focus on activities outside the gym too - BBQs, run club, nutrition events, and it’s such a lovely community to be a part of. I’d recommend in a heartbeat!
Fantastic experience: Started at CTPT a little over 5 months ago swapping from 1-1 Personal Training. CTPT has been and is the best gym experience I’ve had. Small group personal training that teaches, trains and pushes you individually even while being in a group setting of like minded people. It importantly allows the accountability of your progression to still be on yourself while supported by the coaches tailored to what you need. Despite me being, quite possibly, the absolute worst person they have ever coached; not once have they kept trying even if it’s taken a good few months or more to get me fully…ish… onboard with fitness. It’s perfect to be in a mixed ability group each session with people aiming to better their strength or simply just to get moving which allows a complete judgment free, supportive zone. From someone that said, before starting CTPT, that they hated moving/going to the gym or even thinking about fitness and I would NEVER enjoy it. Dare I say that this place is maybe a little… fun???

Fantastic experience: My wife and I were going through a lack of motivation to go to our old gym and decided we needed a change. We found these guys and decided to try their 6 week challenge, and it was such a good decision. The attention to detail they pay to every aspect of your health and fitness is just something you do not get anywhere else. We have seen amazing results and are now wanting to stay on after the 6 week challenge. The friendly atmosphere and sense of community really helps you settle in and the coaches really put you through your paces and pay attention to any injuries. 100% recommended to anybody looking to amp up their health and fitness game.

Fantastic experience: A very welcoming environment, never felt exposed or out of place since coming to CTPT. Their new renovation had made the experience even better. The gym is very clean and full of equipment and the coaches ensure the safety of each member by making us spot each other and helping us find the perfect lifting weight. Has generated plenty of strong healthy young lads to excel the local Langton rugby team!
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym! I use this gym for rugby and it is a pleasure to work out at with trainers who have helped me progress further than I ever thought I could. A very welcoming environment with top of the range equipment for a versatile range of exercises and lifts. In addition to this the staff are helpful and friendly who have the perfect balance between a motivating voice and pushing me to my limit. I would recommend anyone in the area to one here and experience a fun and challenging approach to progress their fitness journey.
Fantastic experience: I train here with school every Monday and Friday. It’s the part of my school week that I look forwards to the most! The training and facilities are elite, all of the trainers give excellent, direct feedback. They take great interest in your progress and development including accounting for any injuries you may have and work around it effectively. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to start going gym or if you need some guidance!!!

There a real sense of community, and all the people I have met have been great. The style of the group classes works for me perfectly a good blend of strength and conditioning. Fantastic experience: Great place to build strength, skills and fitness in a friendly and supportive environment. The monthly programme really works for me, with 4-5 time-slots of the same class each day, it's hard to find an excuse not to fit the gym into my schedule! I had never really lifted any weights before, so a lot of the exercises were new, but the coaches break it down and adapt activities if needed. I've been doing the monthly programme for 3 months and have seen definite improvements in fitness, strength and stability.
Fantastic experience: I joined CT Barbell back in October 2022 for the 6 week programme and have since become a full time member. I've previously struggled at conventional gyms as my motivation wains somewhat after a few weeks/months. The difference, I have found, lies in the community atmosphere that CT Barbell provide. The rolling programme and structure suit me perfectly and there are plenty of time slots available to choose from too! Never in my life did I think I'd be someone who'd wake up at 5am to get to the gym for 6am...but here I am! I've seen my fitness levels and strength improve, I sleep better, eat better and have noticed a difference in my mental health too! The gym is always clean and tidy, the equipment is great and they're always adding new things too! The atmosphere is awesome and the other members are a great laugh. We all cheer each other on and help get the best out of each other. Sam, Tristan and Ilena are all fantastic coaches and always explain things clearly and simply. They're all really good at driving you to achieve higher and are all really knowledgeable about everything. I'd recommend this gym to anyone without any hesitation. Long may it reign ✌
Fantastic experience: CT barbell is honestly by far my favourite gym I have used so far. I went through the 6 weeks programme with Tristan. I really recommend it because I got to learn things and focus on my goals without any pressure from him- instead he guided me. I really enjoy their classes alongside too, so I have stayed with them as a permanent member now. Ilina, Tristan and Sam are all amazing coaches, they are very knowledgeable and very helpful. The classes they run are very structured, challenging but it pushes you to improve yourself. Most of all you feel great afterwards and I wish I had found CT Barbell sooner!
Fantastic experience: An all around fantastic place and so more than just a gym- it’s a real community of lovely people and dedicated coaches/owners. I pay to just use the gym and it has everything I need with convenient opening hours. The gym is always spotless and there is such a welcoming and encouraging vibe. I leave each time feeling happier than I did when I arrived. I think all of this speaks volumes about the vision Sam and Tristan have and the effort they have put into everything from programming to community events and just always being a friendly face around the gym. I would highly recommend CT to anyone of any fitness level or goal!

Fantastic experience: I joined CT Barbells about 3 months ago. In that time I have increased my bench press by 22%, I’ve increased my strength Rpm on the ski machine by a good 25% too. Every aspect has improved. The programmes are so well thought out and executed, planning in 12 week blocks with accessory training really bolstering the results. Technique wise both Sam and Tristan have immense knowledge stemming from both being professional sportsman and Sans physio experience. They really hit the spot with advice and are ‘firm but fair’ . Also, I’ve made loads of new friends and we now go to the cafe next door for breakfast every week! Loving it.

Fantastic experience: Not just your normal gym! Joined CT Barbell just over a week ago for their 6 week programme and what a great start to getting overall fitter with awesome strength and conditioning based training. Sam, Tristan and Ilina are all very professional coaches running fun and well thought through sessions, also giving great feedback on technique. During the 6 week programme so far I have received loads of information on both training and nutrition to help me achieve my goals. Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend this gym! The facilities are excellent and there is a great, friendly community atmosphere. The classes are small and have a group PT feel and the coaches are really encouraging, knowledgeable and offer great advice. All of the members are really welcoming and supportive which also makes the classes really enjoyable The classes are taught in twelve week blocks and there is a great variety of strength and conditioning. They are challenging but totally accessible to all fitness levels. I am currently on my second block and have already noticed a great improvement in my strength and fitness. If you are considering giving it a try then I would say go for it, you won't regret it! It's a great mix of really enjoyable classes together with achieving real beneficial results.
Fantastic experience: What a great place to train, Sam and Tristan are incredibly knowledgeable and really enjoy what they do, which makes the whole gym experience so much more enjoyable and beneficial. Fantastic experience: I joined CTBarbell a year ago. Over the years I have always been that person who joins a gym and never attends. I get bored, lonely, and don't really know what I'm doing. From the first class I attended at CTBarbell, I knew this was the gym for me. CTBarbell is everything I never knew I was looking for in a gym. Training every part of the body in different ways, strength, cardio, conditioning. The coaches are so knowledgeable, encouraging and helpful, they really help their clients feel comfortable in every way. Over the last year I have seen so many changes, self improvements and I'm confident I will continue to see more. I have now been converted into the gym life.
Fantastic experience: I joined CT barbell a couple of weeks ago and it’s been one of the best decisions I made for myself! I felt that my progress at a conventional gym was becoming a bit stagnant and I wanted to try somewhere new and I was extremely impressed with CT! The coaches are so knowledgeable and always take time to help you in the classes and answer any questions you might have about a certain exercise. Sam, Tristan and Ilina are always supportive in the classes and making sure you’re doing okay, not feeling left behind and most importantly, always pushing you to go that bit further! The gym itself is extremely clean and well equipped and the programs that they run are really well thought out in such a way that you know you’re truly working on each and every part of your body to become stronger. There’s a great community at CT and everyone is so welcoming and friendly to one another. A great community that is being led by some great coaches: would highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: CT Barbell has changed my life and I couldn’t be prouder to be a member of this gym. First of all the facilities are amazing, gives you great flexibility and there are more free weights than any other gym I’ve been too. I do the classes each day which are great fun, Sam & Tristan who designed the programme have the perfect mix of exercises and I really do feel like I’m training my whole body. With their guidance and push I’ve already exceeded my expectations. At CT Barbell there is a real community feel about it, a lot of laughs are had with fellow members and they even do gym events outside of the gym. Great work Sam & Tristan.
Fantastic experience: I’d heard of CT Barbell through numerous recommendations from friends and work colleagues. Having never returned to exercise fully from an injury, I was nervous to start but took the plunge and am so thankful I did. Sam and Tristan are great - so knowledgeable, welcoming and have adapted sessions for me to cater for the injury whilst still pushing my limits. There is a true community spirit that makes the classes fun - highly recommend to any level!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to CT Barbell for about 6 or 7 weeks now and I’m really enjoying it. I’d been training on my own at a commercial gym for a while and was really missing the community feel I had whilst at F45. I found it at CT! The coaches and people are lovely and I always leave feeling like I’ve worked really hard. If you’re looking for a motivational and community focused gym, this is the place for you.
Fantastic experience: I have been attending group classes at CT Barbell for the last 3 weeks and it has been absolutely brilliant. An extremely friendly, supportive and motivating team that actually make me want to go and train. Sam and Tristan's knowledge and training is second to none, by far the best facility around. Fantastic experience: Whether in a group class or just training alone in the day there is always a great atmosphere with everyone being really nice and friendly but also working hard. As well as this the gym very well equipped meaning you never have to wait for a squat rack or pull up bar.
Fantastic experience: I've been attending the group PT sessions for a few weeks now and have been really getting into it. Make no mistake these guys work you hard but they are really friendly and super knowledgeable and although it's a group session they still make it feel tailored to you individually. I had been working with one of the PTs on an individual basis and wasn't sure how I would find the transition to group work but it's been no issue at all, a great way to meet people and I'm really enjoying the journey. All of the other people on the group sessions I have met so far have been super nice too. Really recommend joining up to this.

The facility itself boasts an array of high-end equipment alongside enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable coaches always looking to go the extra mile for their clients and their personal fitness goals. As opposed to your big corporate gyms, CT Barbell, with its manageable class numbers, and 'family' ethos allows for far greater attention to detail and personalisation of training programmes as well as the ability to give and receive immediate feedback. I'd recommend this gym to fitness people of all abilities due to the abundance of knowledge held by the coaches and their ability to know what is best for each individual client irrespective of their abilities. Fantastic experience: CT Barbell is a great gym with a great selection of equipment. I have been going for 4 weeks now and I am enjoying every session. Both Sam and Tristan are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches. They are willing to help out anytime and give advice where needed. The group sessions are super fun and help motivate me to push that extra mile in my workouts. There is always a friendly, community atmosphere as soon as you enter the gym, I highly recommend this gym to everyone!
Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend CT Barbell enough. Knowledgeable coaches and a strong community feel. I have always struggled to find a gym where I feel comfortable. The gym not only has amazing kit but the coaches have created a community and team mentality which makes you feel at home. I have been doing the classes for the past 3 weeks and my strength and confidence has come on leaps and bounds. The classes have also provided me with invaluable knowledge on my form and how to get the most out of my sessions.
