Fantastic experience: We’ve been visiting RRAB for a couple of years now and have always been big fans. The routes are always brilliant, the staff are lovely, the music is always spot on, the brownies are to die for & in general it’s just a really nice place to be.

Positive experience: It was ok. We honestly thought there would be more to it. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and welcoming. We were a group of 2 adults and 4 children. It cost £28.50 for 2 children so £57 for all. There was a hidden £3.50 added which I questioned with another man before we left. It took a while to be acknowledged by him while we waited to hand the shoes back. He told us the extra charge was for the parents supervising ....well it wasn't on the price list or on the email from them! (See below) I like transparency. There shouldn't be hidden costs in any business. There was no seating for us parents and no seating for the kids to change shoes. If you are charging us to supervise our children then you should provide a seat at least. It was uncomfortable for us parents just floating around in the middle of the one room. I do not think we would visit again.

Negative experience: The grease hair woman is very rude, I bought two thermos and both of their lids broke on the first drop. (steal and plastic thermos) I was close by so I come in to ask if she knows the best glue to fix it, and she told me anything can brake if you drop it, not our fault and just walked away.

Fantastic experience: First time bouldering, group of 4 lads, we had a great time! Never did I appreciate the difficulty of bouldering, the different routes and holds, the amount of strength needed to do these climbs! From the moment we walked in, we were met with friendly staff/visitors, with lots of helpful advice, just generally such a lovely, welcoming environment! Would love to try the coffee shop next time :) Small place but we spent 2 hours there and could’ve spent another 2 more… defo coming back, enough routes to keep you occupied for ages!

Fantastic experience: As somone who doesn't normally do rock climbing and just came with some friends I was a bit worried about not knowing what I'm doing but pepal in the gym and the staff was super nice and friendly and helped me a lot didn't feel out of place even tho I was completely new. Side note they have an incredible mini caff that dose some amzing coffee better then most coffee shops.

The nicest community you’ll ever meet as well as the most helpful, if you’re stuck on a route there’s always a friendly face to give you advice or figure it out with you, my favourite thing to do is just try dumb silly challenges with my friends and the many friends I’ve made there, absolutely love this place can’t recommend it enough!!

Fantastic experience: Lovely experience. The owners were very nice and accommodating. Initially I had issues getting in touch after buying a voucher but found out it was because they were away but they were really good about it when they found out and communication was amazing after that. Alex was lovely when we went in and explained everything well. They have a lot of different things going on and would’ve loved to stay longer if we had more time. The actual climbing has lots of different challenges which we really enjoyed. The coffee shop looked good too, will definitely check it out next time.

Fantastic experience: TL;DR A great little gym in Romford with some of the best owners I've ever met, and cute doggos- Toby the sweetest golden retriever, and Knuckles, the softest little cloud of a Coton de Tulear. There's a great variety of climbing, lovely upstairs cafe, beautiful stretching room, lockers with a key provided, changing rooms, toilets, and a water fountain. Definitely check it out! The long version: This up and coming bouldering gym is right by the town of Romford. Right off of Romford bus garage, you can't miss the bright yellow sign that advertises this lovely little gym. For any climber living in the area, this is a game changer! We no longer have to go all the way into Mile End or Bermondsey to get some climbing in! This little bouldering gym has 60+ routes ranging from V0-V8. There's a beautiful stretching room, toilets, changing rooms, lockers, water fountain, and upstairs is a little cafe overlooking the gym! Everything is really nice and clean and they do a good job wiping down after people have used the pull up bars/campus boards. The owners are super sweet and friendly with the cutest dogs! Really great to have climbers who love to climb and run the place. Definitely get to know them when you are there! Pricing is £11 for a single visit. For the one time-off member fee there's only a £3 charge the first time. They also offer monthly, 6 month and a 12 month option as well. Or a 10 punch pass card! As of right now, you need to book a session in order to go climbing for the social distancing guidelines. It's a 2 hour time slot which is plenty! And when the time is slow, you are always welcomed to stay longer. It's a great workout if you are a first-timer. There's shoes for hire and the staff is great at directing you about the place. If you are a veteran like me, you'll be grateful for a place nearby you in Romford!

Fantastic experience: A local, independently run and owned gym that has staff who are always friendly and willing to help. I first found my love for climbing here after a long time of thinking about picking up the hobby, and was the perfect place for it. It is a smaller gym but has plenty of challenging climbs to keep you occupied for the 2 hour time slot. It has plenty of bus/transport routes connecting to the gym. Also highly recommend the coffee!

Fantastic experience: Tried this place for the first time the other day after a long time of deliberation and am i so glad i did, me and my friend were given a very warm welcome and was immediately at ease after Max took us through some tips and safety guidance, we donned the shoes they offer and quickly made our ascent, it wasnt long before we realised what a wholesome community this was and was given advice and encouragement from fellow climbers and before we knew it hours had passed very fun and enjoyable experience, and to top it off i had a delicious coffee and brownie from there café to end a pleasant day, couldnt recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: So I've been bouldering for around 3 weeks now and all of that has been at Romford Rock and Boulder. It's a lil bit daunting going solo not gonna lie, especially when you're completely new to it and are still dusting off lingering hermit cobwebs from the pandemic. But everyone that works there are so sound. Super friendly and approachable. It's a relatively small venue but uses the space really well. There's a load of variety with the boulders and the walls are reset regularly to keep them fresh. The layout of the walls means that climbers congregate in the center in-between climbs that encourages people to be social - which as a people person I bloody love. Overlooking the bouldering area is a tasteful mezzanine space. The perfect place to grab a coffee, a refuel snack or my personal fav a Tenzing - the sweet sweet nectar of the gods. All of these facets come together to form a tight-knit, refreshing community vibe that you seldom get in this new age of social media. Before you know it you're getting to know the regulars by 'avin a laff or getting screaming encouragement whilst sending a boulder you've been working on for ages. You quickly get a sense of belonging at Romford Rock and Boulder, which is the best praise I could probably give it. So if you're new to bouldering like me, or you've been living under a rock all this time - give Romford Rock and Boulder a visit. You won't regret it. It's already one of my go-to happy places.

Fantastic experience: Best spot for climbing in Essex. Good music, friendly staff and a relaxed environment to get to grips with bouldering. High enough walls to make routes a challenge, even when it’s busy there’s enough to do. Worth a visit for anyone willing to go beyond the usual London spots.

Fantastic experience: I wish there were more than 5 stars to rate Romford Rock and Boulder! This bouldering gym is a wonderfully inclusive place, allowing anyone to get into climbing. The friendly atmosphere really sets it apart from other gyms. Even though the gym itself is smaller than its rivals, you can’t beat the vibe that RRAB has. All of the staff are super helpful and welcoming too. Routes are regularly reset, with really cool climbs available each time you visit. There are weekly climbing initiatives for women, children, as well as social climbs on Thursdays (at the time of writing). There is a great coffee shop upstairs, allowing you to take a well earned break. There’s parking on-site, as well as many bus routes operating near the gym. Additionally, there’s yoga and physio opportunities too! It really is a special place - whether you’re a season climber or just starting out; RRAB is the place to be!

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and manager (max) who are happy to show you how to climb safety and they are really friendly and welcoming. My husband and I were looking for a hobby to do together and I think that we have now found one. We will definitely be returning!!!

Then it was just a case of off you go. You have easier routes and a lot harder. Some we just couldn't manage, others you got quite quickly and had a real sense of achievement. Fantastic experience: A small but mighty gym indeed! Have been climbing here for about six months and love it. Staff are all great and friendly and there is a nice community of regulars who are very welcoming and helpful - I haven’t experienced this so much at other, larger bouldering gyms. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a new way to keep active!

Fantastic experience: It was my first time climbing ‍♂️and absolutely loved it! The staff are friendly and were able to help get us up to speed. They have changing rooms and lockers and there's also parking if you drive. There are many climbing routes for different levels of ability so if you're a newbie like me or more experienced, you'll find it both challenging and fun.
