I offer 1:1 coaching for weightlifting, strength & conditioning and hypertrophy. If your goal is to maximise your strength, power, size, endurance or athleticism, you’re in the right place.
I’ve designed a selection of weightlifting programmes, strength and conditioning programmes and hypertrophy programmes. They’re all evidence-based, effective and reasonably priced.

Fantastic experience: Happened upon Character Strength quite by chance while attending my first Oly lifting class at MP Fit. Immediately hooked (despite having spent the majority of my first session falling over), I quickly decided to take up weekly coaching with Character Strength and have come on leaps and bounds since the - frankly shocking - first attempt. Alex is a phenomenally patient coach, and impressively passionate about what he does. Something not quite right with what you're doing? If he doesn't already know the answer, rest assured he will do by the next time you see him, having gone away and thoroughly researched every conceivable detail that could be holding you back. It's a brilliant, highly personalised approach to training that definitely works for me. By no means competition-ready just yet, but I've made a lot of progress since starting with Character Strength. I have every confidence that I'd have sacked the whole Oly lifting thing off months ago without the much needed motivation (kick up the backside) that Alex provides. I genuinely couldn't recommend Character Strength highly enough. If you have goals in mind, and aren't afraid of hard work, go for it!!
Fantastic experience: Just finished a 12 week Strength Programme and loved it. More than doubled my squat and even managed my first ever pull up! Highly recommend.
