Fantastic experience: I 100% recommend going to Matt if you are ever in need of rehab or wanting to build your strength. You definitely need to go into sessions with a determined and switched on mindset because training is tough but it is SO worth it!! In September 2024 I had a full ACL reconstruction and medial and lateral meniscus repair surgery. For my career I hope to fulfil my dream of becoming a professional dancer and Matt is supporting and helping me in the best way possible to strengthen my whole body from head to toe, to be the strongest version of myself I can ever be. More recently I have noticed just how far Matt has pushed me to reach where I am now. I am now back at dancing near enough to my full potential and I wouldn't of been able to get here without the help from Matt. I have not a bad word to say about the way Matt coaches, he's so professional and wants the best for his clients all the time and always provides a positive vibe to sessions. Fantastic experience: I badly injured my back in March, which resulted in a suspected slipped or bulging disc in my lower back. After several weeks of being unable to work and seeing little progress in my recovery, I came across Matt. From our very first session, Matt was incredibly reassuring. His deep understanding of human anatomy and his ability to clearly explain what’s happening in the body is outstanding. He not only helped me understand my injury but also gave me confidence that I could recover. Now, two months into working with Matt, I can honestly say my back feels almost fully recovered. I’ve continued working with him and am now transitioning into his online coaching programme to support my ongoing rehabilitation and build strength. Fantastic experience: I was recommended Matt to help solve an issue I was experiencing with my knee that was stopping me from training. I was genuinely in awe of Matt’s knowledge and his ability to diagnose the issue within a short space of time, providing all round support including supplement advice and a rehabilitation plan which I’ve followed religiously. I can already see a difference after a couple of weeks and am getting back to training whilst continuing to check in with Matt to monitor progress/answer any queries which evidences the care and service he provides for clients! Fantastic experience: Before I saw Matt I was diagnosed with frozen shoulder at the doctors and was told the only way to sort it out was to get a steroid injection, as the physio waitlist was too long! I was struggling to sleep, lift my arm, change the gears of my car or even put my coat on! I got recommended to book in with Matt by my partner and boy am I glad I did! After just 1 session he identified the root cause of the problem was my posture and after the second session provided me with stretches/exercises to solve the problem. Now just 1 week later the pain is minimal, mobility is far far better and I’m on the road to a full recovery :) Matt’s knowledge is second to none and would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Been having back issues caused by golf and have tried fixing it countless times using useless information online. Got in touch with Matt and straight away he narrowed the cause down to one or two things , over the phone may I add. From the pain not allowing me to bend down at all for weeks, after the first few days of Matt’s advice there are subtle improvements and can finally see the end of this problem !

Fantastic experience: Matt is an absolute credit to his craft! What this fella doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing. The dedication to his clients, making sure everything is completely individualised and person-centred is second to none. His knowledge bank around more complex cases and how he is able to tune into the individual concerns/areas of need of everyone he trains is exceptional. Sleep, mental wellbeing, training, specific goals, nutrition, supplementation, rehabilitation you name it! I worked with Matt for a brief period last year post heart surgery (and had many conversations which were super informative and supportive before I even signed up to his coaching which was extremely helpful in easing any anxieties I had). He personalised everything with my hEDS at the forefront, from supplementation to diet and in depth training plans where everything was formulated specifically to me. The impact Matt had and continues to have is fantastic and I hope to work with him again in the future.

Fantastic experience: I was kindly introduced to Matt when I had been told I needed surgery on my arm which wasn’t an option for me so when Matt told me he would do everything he can so I avoid surgery I was unbelievably happy! Not even two months into working together and I’m training regularly and the pain has reduced massively and I can feel myself healing! To me this is nothing short of a miracle. Not only has Matt physically helped me, he is the most amazing and supportive coach! It’s abundantly clear he isn’t interested in quick fixes to get good before and after photos like I have experienced with previous coaches but he really cares about my mental well being too and in turn I’m training better than ever. Fantastic experience: I have struggled with depression and anxiety for many years , and in 2023 I lost my fiancee to a tragic accident that I witnessed and since then I have been diagnosed with PTSD. Many years ago I used the gym to help me manage my illnesses but I needed help I found Matt online after reading his reviews and gave him a try and it's the best thing i have ever done , Matt has helped me not just with my physical health but also with my mental health, he always makes time to listen wether it be in person or online he takes the time to understand and advise you on supplements and foods as well as exercise routines that will help you . He has masses of experience and advise to help not just with physical health but also the daily or life problems and illnesses you may have . I would recommend Matt % to anyone , wether it's injuries, physical health, nutrition problems or stress levels, he always takes time to listen he is % reliable and honest with his advise not like some others I have met in the past. Fantastic experience: I came to matt after a full tendon rupture playing rugby. We sat down and discussed everything that happened before and after the injury. We then went through a plan for some movements that were as pain free as possible whilst being able to make progress. After a couple of weeks I still had pain and contacted Matt and he reassured me to trust the process and these things take time. Well I went away and did that and a few weeks later the pain has improved drastically. Matt has a great knowledge and is more than happy to take time to share that with you. I will be using Matt any time it is required in the future.

Fantastic experience: I was apprehensive about a P/T but my son said I should try Matt put me at ease from the moment he introduced himself. I had hurt my knee ( meniscus) he is extremely knowledgeable and took a full history of any injuries I have had. He is patient kind and guides you to do the exercises with encouragement and some humour even when you think you can’t!!! He has done wonders for my knee and my confidence in going forward. I would recommend Matt with no hesitation he has been wonderful

Fantastic experience: You will NOT find a better coach/heath professional than Matt. I’ve had several over the last 20 years. Including personal trainers, physios, specified masseuses, and even chiropractors. They have never been able to get to the root cause of my ongoing shoulder/neck issue for nearly 15 years. Matt has already started to help with this issue within a few weeks of seeing him. He absolutely is an all rounder. He is incredibly knowledgeable, understanding, friendly and passionate about helping you be the fittest, healthiest and strongest person you can be inside and out, with little changes. I’ve also learnt from him that my “double jointedness” is an actually thing, and he has helped me raise this to be investigated further through my GP. I just can’t recommend him enough. Fantastic experience: Can’t fault him! Matt has a wealth of knowledge and goes above and beyond to facilitate the correct coaching and programming for you Matt and I are old school friends but hadn’t been in touch for years, after I broke my knee, ankle and dislocated my foot I was on the lookout for someone I trusted to help me make a full recovery. With Matt’s rehabilitation and preventative programming I have made a full recovery from what I had been told was a life changing injury, I also got the fittest I have been in years and he made it feel easy Cannot recommend Matt enough to anyone looking to recover from injury or to maximise their potential in the gym or whatever fitness pursuit. Fantastic experience: I came for weight loss and left with a new back, 45lb lighter and full of energy. There's so many positives about working with Matt, here are a few key ones that anyon can benefit from; 1) injuries - I chose to work with Matt to loose weight, I didn't realise the extent of his rehab work. Matt has basically fixed a bulging disk on my lower back that would give me acute pain during regular flare ups. I've done everything, physio, acupuncture, pain killers and nothing touched it. Matt worked out my issue, gave my specific exercises and I can now get out the car, pick my kids up, pick up weights in the gym (the list goes on) without worrying if I'm going to have to limp around for the next 3 weeks 2) Education, Matt knows a lot about everything related to Body mechanics, supplements, mindsets, exercise and a load more. The key bit here is he can communicate it in a way I can understand and make it relevant to me, or you! 3) Motivation, I was 50lb overweight even thought I went to the gym everyday, did 10k steps and eat plenty of protein. What I needed was a kick up the backside. Matt's enthusiasm in me and my progression, in all areas of life, rubbed off on me and give me that kick without even realising it. 4) Honesty, Matt gave me a big head when I was doing great, loosing weight gaining muscle, but more importantly he held me accountable when I wasn't, and my ego wouldn't let me see it. This is really what I wanted a coach for, to hold me to a higher standard, Matt certainly did that in a way you wish your best mate would. 5) Supportive, to put it in perspective I lost 45lb and gained a lot of muscle whilst dealing with some biggish health issues, starting a new job and my partner being 6 months pregnant all the way through to having a 6 week old baby. Matt was there for me, he has an unbelievable sprint / human touch whilst also pushing me on. He's also very flexible in sense that he gets that life gets in the way of weight loss and gains in the gym, he always found a way for me to train that worked me for and my life. I would, and have, 100% recommended working with Matt to my friends and family. Thanks Matt

Fantastic experience: After being laid up for several weeks with an ankle injury plus a few old injuries I decided to grab the bull by the horns. Matt came recommended by a friend plus he had been helping my husband rehabilitate so I thought its time to take the plunge and have a bio mechanical assessment. A thorough assessment revealed some of what I already knew and a few surprises. So I made the commitment and after only 4 sessions I am seeing results and a realistic plan going forwards. This rehabilitation is very different to any Physiotherapy I have had. I'm feeling so much more confident and positive about my long term health and fitness journey and goals. Fantastic experience: I have been getting personal training sessions with Matt to overcome shoulder and hip problems over the last few months. The rehabilitation process I have gone through with Matt has been educational and beneficial. With Matt’s knowledge and understanding of the muscle groups and anatomy he has provided a very detailed insight into my problems offering an effective training program to aid my rehabilitation . Since starting my strength training I no longer suffer from sciatic nerve pain in my hip and leg and my shoulder mobility gets stronger with each session. Matt is a very knowledgeable trainer who pushes you to better yourself in whatever goal you have set. He has made a positive impact on my health and fitness and I look forward to maintaining my progress and develop further.

Fantastic experience: I started seeing Matt after he was recommended to me to help figure out some knee issues I had due to running injuries Matt has been extremely helpful in figuring out what's wrong and giving advice and help on how to correct, he's very knowledgeable and friendly- really easy to work with, he pushes you to do more than you think you can The sessions are always fun even if they're hard and he's been great offering advice on the phone while I start learning to lift on my own at the gym I'd highly recommend him to anyone

Fantastic experience: Matt is fantastic at what he does. His approach to training makes you feel like you can take on the world and go above and beyond what you thought was even possible and this says it all about him. He’s worked out my strengths and where I can make real gains and put a plan in place that’s perfect for what I need. All of this is great but what makes Matt stand out above everyone is the passion he has for his people when they achieve a goal. Your success and health genuinely means the world to him! I started out training with Matt over 18 months ago now with the ambition to just be strong and I really feel great about my journey on heading towards achieving goals I never would have thought possible. We have a great laugh together too which is as valuable as anything in these sessions and not only do you come away having made gains but you’ll also feel high on life. Fantastic experience: I started powerlifting a year ago, and it seems the stronger I got, the lazier (and slightly more cocky) I got with my lifts which eventually resulted in disc herniation. Numb toes and thighs for weeks, and just generally not being able to everyday tasks pain free. I came across Matts Instagram page and decided to get in touch. Within the week, Matt had booked me in for an hour session. By the end of the session, Matt had discovered the root cause of the issue and we got to work straight away. He gave me a series of exercises to work on and fast forward 3/4 weeks, the numbness in my toes has gone and my back has stopped cramping! This was happening after each gym session I attempted. We’ve been working on my technique for squat, deads and bench and now after each session I’m mostly pain free, no cramps, no numb toes and I’m already feeling so much more confident with each lift. Matt has taught me so much about safety, breathing techniques and my form has improved tenfold! After seriously worrying I wouldn’t be able to lift again, I’m back to feeling on top of the world and excited about where I’m going to be in the next 6 months! These rehab sessions have been worth their weight in gold. Top bloke and seriously knows his stuff! Thanks so much, Matt!

Fantastic experience: I started with Matt after a knee dislocation, the rehab was fantastic and helped me gain confidence to return to sports quicker than I expected. Following this I have started weekly strength and conditioning session with Matt, his knowledge has helped me grow in confidence after only a few sessions. I would recommend him to everyone!

Fantastic experience: i started working with Matt after a referral from a local physiotherapist. I had a few issues, knees and elbows been the main. I now certainly feel far stronger and more resilient than I have for a while and will continue to work with Matt to learn more and get better, 180kg Deadlift been the challenge! Matt's is super knowledgeable and imparts this in an easy way.

Fantastic experience: I’ve only just started my training journey with Matt, but WOW what a start it’s been! Matt is so knowledgeable and experienced and amazingly encouraging. He makes it feel easy to be consistent and want to keep improving. He instantly put me at ease in a gym environment I found rather intimidating to start with, so much so, that I signed up and now train there on my own between sessions. I would wholeheartedly recommend him for anyone to train with, be it for recovery from injury, learning new techniques or just to improve your skill set. Fantastic experience: Matt has been consistently patient and correct in helping me diagnose and cure a long standing running injury. Not only has he set me on the right path, he has taken the time to explain why I'm doing the exercises he's given me and the results I should expect from doing them. It's been an enlightening journey as well as a pain relieving one :) Matt places such a premium on safety and mechanics that I've found myself lifting weights I would never have attempted on my own. Fantastic experience: I recently started some PT sessions with Matt to get some guidance on how to overcome some running induced hip and knee injury/niggles. Matt immediately saw the muscle strength/flexibility imbalances that my physio had identified giving me immediate confidence in his knowledge. I was struggling with some exercises previously advised by physio, after working with Matt I have learnt adaptions or pre-exercise techniques to be able to do these exercises pain free. I feel I’m learning lots! He is great at coming up with alternatives when my niggles arise, he’s really passionate about what he does and is really encouraging when the niggles can start to get to you! His knowledge of muscle anatomy, injury impact, exercise biomechanics is excellent, I recommend him to anyone seeking guidance on injury rehabilitation training.

Fantastic experience: All my life I have enjoyed some form of exercise: yoga, pilates, step classes, gym classes and all my life I have had recurring back problems which restricted these activities. Then I was lucky enough to hear about Matt. I have been working with Matt for 6months and at last someone has analysed why I have these recurring problems. Matt's knowledge of bio mechanics is phenomenal and is only exceeded by his application of it to my development. And it's fun. Matt is great company, he's a best friend, a counsellor, singer/guitarist, nutritionalist. He makes me feel that my development is the most important thing for him. I feel so lucky to be on this journey with him and having achieved my first ever dead lift under his guidance I'm looking forward to growing even stronger. Thank you Matt.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant service, I’ve had a few sessions with Matt and he’s helped me in all aspects of my training, I have a rare syndrome which restricts parts of my training and Matt worked round that like he’d been dealing with people like me every day of his life and it’s really clear how sophisticated and dedicated to his job he is, really welcoming environment with the PT and he really knows how to make you feel on top of your training mentally and physically, highly recommend this man

Fantastic experience: Been having bad knee pain for the past 3 years and haven’t had any improvement. I been to the physio and doctors but all the stretches and exercises just made it worse. Seen Matt for the first consolation and within the first consultation already knew the issue. Matt sent me off with some in depth stretches and exercises and within 10 days the pain had nearly gone and I am now back playing football pain free.

Fantastic experience: I have used matt on mutliple occasions from injury rehabilitation with issues regarding mobility with my shoulder injuries and also with my long term spinal injuries that had resulted in lower limb mobility issues which matt only needed 20mins to spot underlaying issues and have me back lifting to my full potential, when I spent years back and forth with nhs physios and specialists with no help. Matt is also my coach as we are planning on heading towards powerlifting comps in near future and the knowledge and eye for detail in technique and the tweaks he makes on the spot that turns you from average lifter to next level lifter is phenomenal and not only that matt is so easy to work with he puts so much time and effort into you and his s&c knowledge to anatomy of the body to the biomechanics and his knowledge of lifting makes him one of if not the best around the North Yorkshire/north east for s&c, rehab work to all goals in sporting and lifting world. He is worth his weight in gold and well worth the money you pay for his experience and expertise.

Fantastic experience: What can I say. I snapped my ankle a few months ago. Doctors only gave pain relief which didn’t help for long. Few sessions with Matt. He analysed my whole posture. The way I walk. The way my specific muscles pull. I am now pain free in my ankle for the first time with only minimal pain relief after 12 hour shifts on my feet. Fantastic experience: I started with Matt at the beginning of the year after knee surgery in June 2021 and basic physio appointments which ultimately didn’t help! Matt listened to me, paid attention to what I’d been through, what I was going through and what I wanted to be able to do in the future. Through this conversation he was able to tell me what he could do to get me to my goals, one of which was to be able to walk more than a mile without pain - I can walk 4-5 miles now in one go! We have spent a number of months going through rehab to rebuild the strength in my knee but to also work on other muscles that I had used to compensate for not being able to use my knee efficiently. We are now at the point where rehab is not the goal anymore as with all of Matt’s help and knowledge we can now work on reaching my goals. Rehab exercises still happen every session but the focus is now on building my strength and achieving things I never knew were possible. I’m lifting weights, something I didn’t think I could do. Matt is the real deal! He doesn’t just take your money and go through the ‘motions’ he throughly invests in you and your journey. You have his undivided attention for the time you are with him each session and this is why I am where I am today. Can’t wait to see what we can achieve going forward!

Fantastic experience: Been working with Matt since December 21. Needed confidence and instructions as I stepped back into a gym after a lot of years away ! Very Quickly Matt got my Fire for exercise and importantly the empowerment to believe in myself again started . A great listener and really wants his client to get as much out of the sessions as possible. Not a massive bunch of issues for him to sort for me , but he has helped to Bulllet proof my structural integrity. As a Runner all my adult life , age and weight gain had started to take the fun out of it as my body just could not cope. Working with Matt has shown me I can run without injury and soreness and has given me the incentive to loose some kg’s and stick two fingers up to Age as an excuse not to have fun and look after myself. Fantastic experience: I came to Matt as I was struggling to progress my back-squat and was also suffering with some knee pain. Matt was able to make some very subtle technique changes and since then I have kept progressing but most importantly I am no longer suffering from any knee pain. Would recommend Matt to anyone wanting to improve any aspect of their performance in the gym.

Fantastic experience: Where to start on why I recommend Matt so highly! For years I considered myself fairly fit - going to gym classes around 5 times a week - but I always had back ‘niggles’ on and off. I ended up with a severely slipped disk with awful nerve / leg pain which, at its worst, involved me needing to use a wheelchair on holiday and a consultant telling me I had the back of a 70 year old so shouldn’t be exercising in future! I worked closely with Louise at physio 42 and, alongside surgery and physio / Pilates, she helped to dispel the poor consultant advice and build my confidence enough to start to work on strength again….this is where Matt came in after a post I saw about him doing spinal rehab work. Fast forward three months and I’ve already smashed every single personal best I ever had. I’m stronger and fitter than ever! Matt is so knowledgeable, professional and constantly adapts to any bumps in the road as recovery isn’t just a straight line! I’ve lifted the heaviest weights I’ve ever lifted but also had some of the hardest, most intense and effective workouts using pure body weight and intensity! He’s so invested in the journey of his clients and so passionately cares about every detail. I feel in such safe hands to work harder than ever while respecting my back! Thank you Matt

Fantastic experience: What a brilliant trainer - Matt excels in his art and is the best business, certainly in and around the area. Unlike other trainers Matt treats you as a friend more than a client, checking up on injury’s and your form even when you’ve not asked or paid him. Fantastic experience: Before I was introduced to Matt I was never a gym person. I had chronic hip and back pain and was struggling to work with the pain. Matt was friendly and relaxed from the off and instantly put me at ease with the surroundings. His anatomical knowledge is amazing and we were soon working on getting me back in shape.
