Negative experience: I am writing to express my disappointment with the experience my daughter and nephew had at your soft play centre today. According to your website, only food and drink purchased on-site may be consumed, implying that such options are readily available. However, upon arrival, I found no staff members available to assist with food or drink orders, and the kitchen was unattended. The only option available was a vending machine stocked with Coca-Cola and Red Bull, which are unsuitable for young children. As a result, my daughter and nephew were left hungry and thirsty during their visit. This lack of service is unacceptable and falls far short of the standards expected from a family-oriented facility. I urge you to investigate this matter promptly to ensure that adequate staffing and appropriate food and drink options are available for all guests, especially children. I look forward to your response and hope to see improvements to prevent other families from having a similar experience

Negative experience: The worst swimming pool I have ever been to. Swimming pool - they give u 3 metres to use with your child. Water is freezing. There was sand in the swimming pool!. Changing rooms smell piss. Avoid this place.

Negative experience: Twice in one week late opening - unacceptable On Monday 2 June and Friday 6 June, Southbury Leisure Centre failed to open at 5:30am as advertised. On Monday there was no second staff member, and on Friday there were no staff at all until nearly 6:00am. Several people, even the children, were left waiting outside. I wake up early to train before work - this is disrespectful and unprofessional. Hopefully Enfield Council will take action.

Fantastic experience: Since it's been taken over by Better ( from Fusion) the centre has improved significantly, from booking, to more helpful staff and facility upgrades. The Changing Village has been fully refurbished, gym has lots of new kit (my son has switched to here from PureGym), pool is clean ( morning sessions) if slightly cool. Sports hall a bit dated but there aren't the double booking errors of the past. Can't comment on Soft Play. Support your local sports centre folks!

Negative experience: I took my daughter for swimming for 3 plus and the women who was teaching the class on Thursday at 430pm was so rude. Can someone call me immediately or i will be coming into the gym. If someone does not call me today by 5pm I will be coming into the gym

Negative experience: Over 3 weeks since the steam room is not working and "waiting for a part". First time saw workmen there to fix it, they were just sat around looking at their phones. Steam room is main purpose for my membership. Changing rooms small and normally dirty.. often screaming kids. Give 2 stars because the gym is good. But the rest is terrible!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been really impressed with the recent refurbishments at Southbury. The gym looks fantastic, modern equipment and a fresh, clean feel that make me look forward to working out. The changing rooms have also been completely renovated and look great. What really makes it 5 stars for me though, is the staff, everyone is always so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend the centre and fitness classes!

Fantastic experience: I've only just signed up for walking football again I've been away for a long time but I still have a lot of friends there we are a mix of ladies and men and what a lovely group ot people they are they play on Tuesday's in the morning every week

Negative experience: I recently used the Better UK app to book a sauna/steam room session and was disappointed with the experience. Upon arrival, I was informed that the steam room was out of order. The changing rooms and showers were not clean, and the pool area left much to be desired as well. The sauna itself was problematic—it did not reach high enough temperatures, and the wooden interior had several cracks, including a small hole in the top-right corner upon entry. Overall, the visit did not meet my expectations.

Negative experience: THE WORST literally I was changing and it smelled like urine and sewage water the teaching just shout all the time and just hate it never go.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 for the new gym at Southbury Leisure Centre now! It has everything that I need; everything is brand new and top of the range equipment. The vibe is so great now. Friendly members and staff all round. A real community feel. The changing rooms have had a refurbishment and they're still upgrading even more areas of the centre. Its great to see all the investment thats happened and still happening to this centre. Thank You & See you soon! :D

Negative experience: Place is absolutely rotten, the chaning room are filthy and had an awful smell. They have very little lockers everyone was taking their bags in beside the pools. Pool floor was all dirty stuff all at the bottom on water.

Fantastic experience: Better than most gyms around

Positive experience: Got slapped with a penalty charge for no show / non attendance for the evening I joined on the spot. Eventually got the penalty lifted but not as straightforward as I would have liked. I have revised my one star review to 3 stars in recognition of response from Better.

Negative experience: Cold water and so much dirt in the teaching pool. The whole premises is cold and once you leave the water you start shiver.

Negative experience: horrible. I was trying to go to the gym as usual and they wouldn't let me. They were asking for my mum's full name and details.Theres a lady called Millie who is the rudest person in the whole centre. Every single time me and my dad come she has a problem with us. My dad pays £50 a month for what? For to be told im not allowed and nearly all the time it's closed. I came last night and guess what? It was closed. Whoever put Millie as manager made the biggest mistake of their life. She is so rude to me and my dad.same with another guy.But there is 2 kind people I like.

Negative experience: Booked a soft play birthday party Arrived no staff in sight was messy not hovered or floors wiped over. No cafe for parents to get drink in the actual soft play area,only 1 small vending machine. Had to go downstairs to tell the the reception staff to tell the manager about the state of it. 2 out of the 3 toilets were blocked and dirty. Not 1 memer of staff were ther for health & saftey/first aid response was parents job. Do Not recommend at all !!

Negative experience: Review for swim school and cleanliness- stay well away- Me and my children attended our first time at southbury leisure center. I am absolutely horrified at the service we received. I know this was all due to religious discrimination because there’s no way that every single person in that swim hall was just pure horrid for no reason. The girls at the front desk were absolutely beautiful honestly, their welcoming and customer service was so lovely and genuine. Unfortunately the teachers who were teaching at the pool today were so horrid. The treatment and communication towards all the children was shocking. Shouting at them and dragging them around the pool, telling them off. Absolutely shocking. The teachers did not even greet my children, not even a smile from any of them. The way they dealt with them was extremely uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I am absolutely horrified as I have never experienced something like this in my life. I stood there for the most uncomfortable 30 minutes of my life watching my children being treated like they wasn’t wanted there. There was grown men who didn’t have children there and who went for swimming, sitting on a wall in front of the kids pool watching the children swim (and we as the parents had to sit behind a screen as the sitting area inside was shut off ) which I found absolutely creepy as there’s no need for half naked grown men to be sitting and watching children that don’t belong to them. On top of everything , the two lifeguards (white man and short white women with a pony tail) were giving me death stares which made me feel so uncomfortable, at one point the male lifeguard was talking about me on his walky-talky and even went on to describe me as I was watching my children swim , I heard it from another member of staffs walky-talkie ( I think in the cafe) . The center was filthy, there was hair and dirt everywhere. Parent’s are behind the screen so they can’t hear anything. I believe this is why the staff are getting away with this because no one can hear them! Teachers have no manners and no compassion. I pray my children don’t lose their love and confidence in swimming because of this horrid experience today. Will never step foot on that place ever again.

Negative experience: So I can't use the facility unless I provide my personal details for health and safety reasons. Yet the state of the facility inside tells a different story about their idea of health and safety. Fire doors are blocked, ladders in the corridor where adults as well as children walk by, electric wires and all sorts of construction and refurbishment equipment just lay there. Did not feel very welcomed or safe. Some parts of the building were freezing. There were workmen everywhere and you almost felt like you were on their way even though I am the paying customer.

Fantastic experience: The new gym as absolutely amazing and such a transformation has been made! So happy and so exciting to start my exercising here! It literally has equipment and machines for everyone. The vibe is really nice also. Staff are great. So happy.

Positive experience: Only swam once so far. Ok pool for lap swimming if there is no one in your lane (they’re quite narrow) but the sight flags and Speedo clock are good features. There’s sand on the bottom of the pool, due to their filters and cleaning system, I was told when I inquired. Weird, when you’re used to crystal clean public pools in your own country.

Negative experience: I haven't enjoy my time in the swimming pool. 1. I ve sent an email to ask about the temperature of the pool and if its suitable for newborns/ babies and I recieved an answer after more then a week (after I visited the center), so it was not helpful at all, it seemed really unprofessional in my opinion, but I thought I will give it a try. Bad idea. 2. The water temperature was too cold for toddlers and even more for babies (it should be 32 degrees, or 34 for younger babies), and the teaching pool reaches maximum 29 degrees. 3. The pools are really dirty and the same the steps. You don't know where to put the towel or let your baby sit because its disgusting. 4. The changing rooms are cold! How are you supposed to change your baby? The changing rooms are dirty, most of the benches in the cabins are broken and that small that the pram doesn't fit in it. Women and men share the same space, so how are you supposed to change yourself and where can you leave your baby, if everyone can see you naked if you are outside the cabin or in the cabin but need to leave the door open because the pram doesn't fit? Is it that difficult to separate man and woman? Its not suitable for a mother to go with his baby... 5. They told me to leave the pram in the buggy parking. But it was difficult to recognise the buggy parking because it was full of other items and rubbish included. 6. And least but not last the staff is not friendly at all, not available. It seems like they work but dont want to work, slow. I wanted to enter the teaching pool with my baby and they said one minute, to wait one minute... I ve waited 10 minutes outside the water! .. And it was getting cold. And they didn't tell me sorry for that, now you can enter, I had to ask again.. Can I enter now? Unprofessional! Probably I forgot other things, but I listed the most important ones in my opinion. I don't expect any answer on my review (the same like my email). Dont visit their swimming pools, especially if you go with a toddler or baby.

Positive experience: I’m waiting about refurbisment. I hope they’ll fix changing room. Or I should find and other swimming pool :/ And water is cold because of some reason. They recommend me to go Southgate.

Fantastic experience: One word every thing is excellent, all facilities are available means A-Z, onley problem is Not open whole 24 hours. It’s big problem for people those are finish work late night, at least they can keep open gym facilities only ,

Negative experience: Always smelling Urine when apparently looks clean. Disgusting. Toddler Pool super cold some days.

Negative experience: The pool is always filthy. I’ve swam through plasters, clumps of hair and other debris. I don’t enjoy my swim at Southbury leisure centre anymore as I don’t know what I’ll be coming out with. The changing rooms and showers aren’t all that clean either. The only thing Better have changed is to put the prices up, but the cleanliness has not improved. Extra star is solely for the steam room and sauna.

Negative experience: This place is one step before prison Except I'm sure a prison is much more cleaner and up-to-date I left feeling like I need to be fumigated

Positive experience: good leisure center, pools nice, kinda cold at firsf then gets warmer, but the reason im not giving a 5 is because of this lifeguard (i think his name is ahmad or yahya) he gave me attitude for no reason. .

Fantastic experience: We went in to the sports centre to see what the over 50forum membership can access. I met a very helpful person who assisted me in online joining membership and taking my husband and I around the centre. She was excellent in her customer care. I have some mobility issues recovering from knee surgery. She was kind and encouraging. Her enthusiasm to help people and enable them to find the right excersises . Thank you to the young woman who helped us. We will be booked classes and going swimming

Negative experience: I do not recommend going to the swimming pool there; it's very dirty, I've never seen such filth before. The bathrooms at the pool are smelly. I highly do not recommend it.

Negative experience: This Gym is absolutely BAD , needs massive improvements and staff are so rude with members. Very old machines and no space . Don’t waste your Money !!!! I

Negative experience: I stopped going to Southbury when it was managed by Fusion because it was always filthy and the changing rooms smelled like urine. Now it is managed by Better, and I have had really good experiences at other Better centres, I thought I would give it another try. The smell of urine is gone, but unfortunately it doesn't seem that there has been much improvement on the general cleanliness front. The main pool had floating debris, the changing rooms were not the worst they have ever been but significantly dirtier than other centres, the grates around the pool look green with algae, the changing room benches were broken off the walls, and as others have said the teaching pool is too cold for toddlers. Sadly, I won't be going back any time soon.

Negative experience: Avoid using the gym here at all costs, I was sweating heavily within minutes of walking inside, its like a sauna (Aug 21). Temperature was 33 degrees C despite several portable air conditioning units in place. The refurbishment won't be completed until November. This company has mugged everyone off completely having to exercise in such sweltering conditions. Should at least reduce prices until upgrade is finished.

Negative experience: Absolutely poor communication at the swimming pool. On there website does not explain what they class as a non swimmer is. The receptionist allows you in and the lifeguard states you cannot swim. I attended with 3 children, they said although 2 children over 10 have had swimming lessons they have to be able to swim 25m without stopping before they are allowed in the teaching pool without supervision.

Negative experience: No air conditioning working at all !!! BETTER has put up a poster saying they will repair but nothing is happening!!!! It’s months ! They are waiting for winter when we won’t need THE air con anymore and they can push it to next year. Horrible! The stench of sweat when you enter the gym !!!

Negative experience: Swimming Pool in Southbury Leisure Centre is the worst pool I've ever seen. The water is filthy, with visible dirt floating in it. The toilets and dressing rooms are extremely dirty, with zero hygiene standards. Absolutely unacceptable!

Negative experience: The gym is so boiling hot with no air conditioning that it’s hard to exercise. The pool is also filthy and freezing. They always cancel my nephews swim lessons with no notice and staff are impossible to get hold of. Needs a complete refurb and change of management

Positive experience: Swimming pool charging area was dirty, hairdryer doesn't work, charging room door some of them broken. It was smelly, I had to change swimming lesson to another branch.

Negative experience: My daughter went in the pool and she bring a google and they said she can't where them and the pool hade sand in it get new ones I in April a lifeguard didn't tell a lady off when they almost hit couple baby and toddlers SO NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS

Negative experience: Avoid the swimming pool! I took my toddler here to go swimming, but never again!!!! For children, the pool is so cold. We managed to stay 10 minutes in there and someone from staff told us to move to the big pool because they will do some works (however, I have not seen anyone to work there). Moved to the other one.. and the water was colder, so we preferred to go home as my daughter was freezing with her lips turning blue! Disappointing!!! Find a better place if you want to enjoy the time, not to lose it!

Fantastic experience: Great facilities - excellent swimming instructors

Negative experience: First time using the pool. I am an experienced swimmer for over 20 years. Now that I am older I just want to train for fitness. I wasn’t allowed to use my training flippers in the pool, however, the swimming schools are allowed to use flippers. Classes are doubled so the public swimmer that booked and paid have to be shifted around between lane. At one point we were asked to get out of the pool for 15min to accommodate the overbooked classes. Quite disappointed.

Negative experience: Pool changing area absolutely revolting. Ladies toilets blocked with poo and paper. Floor filthy. Litter in changing rooms. Must be breaking health and safety regs. 12/13 year old boys throwing themselves around in toddler pool and lifeguard did nothing. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Negative experience: Seriously disappointed. The spaces available is great but it's so dirty The changing rooms.loom like they have been cleaned in a few weeks. The doors on the health suites are covered in lime scale. I was so uncomfortable The gym facility are minimal. Do better

Positive experience: It was horrendous when managed by Fusion, but since Better has taken over, you can tell the difference. The place is much cleaner and better managed in every way. Even the small cafe is now finally open again. The pools are nice and clean, but they could do with refurbishing the changing room and showers. PS. It would be great if swim instructors started lessons promptly instead of chatting.

Negative experience: The gym has almost no equipment, less in fact than it did 10 years ago when it was at best poor to average. Enfield has no proper facilities. Spoke to the staff. They said they might get new machines. I found that to be odd because I had exactly the same conversation with them when I cancelled my membership 10 years ago. Why does every public service have to be sold off and run without any oversight? Surely the people of Enfield deserve better than this.

Negative experience: The spin room is unhygienic and is never cleaned or inspected by management, they do not care about the customer experience, They will play lip service and say they will do something but then they never do. Hygiene is a basic requirement and they are failing at it, I'm sorry to post this becauee the staff are great but as I've told management about the spin room not being cleaned 6 times in the last two weeks and still no changes or effort to ensure it's cleaned so it's still disgusting and unhygienic.

Fantastic experience: Soft play is great for the kids. Took my boys here this morning and they both had great fun. Seating gives you a good view of play areas so you can keep an eye on them. Excited to see how much 'Better' it gets now it's under new management.

Negative experience: This place definitely needs a refurbishment. The yoga and group exercise studio is in a poor condition, the pool changing area is FREEZING cold and not well cleaned which is below standard and crying for a refurbishment. There should be more daily swimming pool slots available as there are just 3 or 4 slots available for the whole day every day which is shame for a big swimming pool like this. Overall, as a member I am not happy with the facility at all and I try to use other branches.
