The Whitwick and Coalville Leisure Centre opened in February 2022 and has been designed specifically to help everyone from the local community enjoy getting active. The 110-station gym is the perfect place to help you reach your fitness goals. Whether you fancy an intense cardio workout, want to lift some weights and build some muscle, do some resistance training, do a functional workout, or a mixture of all four, the Whitwick and Coalville Leisure Centre is packed with everything you need for a balanced, effective workout. You’ll also be able to enjoy a huge range of different group fitness classes in one of the three dedicated studios, led by highly trained instructors. The studios are also available to hire for a range of activities including martial arts and dance classes.
The 25-metre, eight-lane pool offers family swim sessions, large pool inflatables and lane swimming as well as Everyone Active’s award-winning swimming lessons available to both children and adults. The teaching pool is smaller and shallower, so it’s perfect for children dipping their toe in for the first time.

The eight-court sports hall and three squash courts are a fantastic place to enjoy getting active with friends doing a wide range of sports and activities including badminton, basketball, volleyball, netball, tennis, football and table tennis.

Whitwick and Coalville Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and good modem facilities. Have been a member for several years now
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities
Fantastic experience: The only thing I was uncomfortable with was walking into the spa suite with all men made me feel uncomfortable
Fantastic experience: Good leisure centre with the complete gym facilities. I took the free day promotion and try the machines and attend the virtual shabam. Session. I Was a little disappointed because the class was empty. Only me in front of the screen but I hope the other classes will be more popular. Facilities are new and clean and staff friendly and available to help. My card and App has issues but the reception lady did her magic to make it work. It is weird that half of the lockers use coin and the other a pad lock (not supplied) but is the way it is...
Fantastic experience: All good
Negative experience: When calling no one Anwserd for 1hour
Fantastic experience: Love going swimming here it's nice place and friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Great place. Friendly staff, well organised. I visit at least once a week sometimes 3, always a good experience.
Fantastic experience: Very good as it always is
Positive experience: I use the gym here! The best times I've found to go is in the day before 4pm or after 7pm to easily get on the equipment you want. Like most LC it has its peak times.
Fantastic experience: Clean, modern facilities with good parking.
Negative experience: Spa facilities very poor. Equipment in gym seems to be massively below par compared to local everyone active gyms in swadlincote and leicester. Struggle to get on majority of kit as very busy.
Fantastic experience: Good leisure centre, friendly staff and good facilities. Mainly use the gym which has loads of kit. Does get busy mid afternoon and evening.
Negative experience: The pool is always freezing
Negative experience: Update: Not worth the price they charge. The Water Fountain is been broken and has not been repaired for over a month. Urinals are defunct and soap dispensers are never refilled. The membership is an all inclusive one wherein one has to pay for all other facilities like the swimming pool, squash courts, etc even if you never use them and only need the gym. The gym itself is small and equipment is clearly insufficient with way too many treadmills. The gym closes early on weekends and by 10pm on weekdays which makes 0 sense and is closed on certain days without prior notice or updating their timings on Google.
Negative experience: Very bad. You have to book for everything online now or take a membership and if you try to pay with cash at the front desk they get annoyed about it and act as though your wasting there time. Pool is dirty and lane swim was not functional. I saw a young girl sit on the edge of the pool obviously in pain and not one of the three life guards went to check on her
Fantastic experience: Great place, friendly staff, check out clip and climb. Who on earth designed the appallingly car park.
Fantastic experience: I make the most of my annual membership which is good value. I appreciate its flexibility as it applies to two Everyone Centres adjacent to where I live. I’ve also considered using it on holiday. I’d like more Pilates classes, but enjoy spin classes (numerous classes a day). The pool at the newest centre is fabulous. Wide lanes and plenty of availability. Changing facilities and showers are good to excellent depending on the centre. In Ashby the centre is used for other community activities such as the Ashby Bridge Club. Long may it last. I could spend more money elsewhere, but it works for me. Staff have always been plentiful and helpful.
Positive experience: I mainly use the spa. It’s ok but when things break they take a long time to be fixed. Also cleaning is not great. Urinals overflow. Typical council ran place. Does the minimum. It’s certainly no David Lloyd but it’s cheap.
Positive experience: Lots of activities provided here for all ages throughout the year.Holiday schemes provided in all school holidays.
Negative experience: Over priced swimming membership, which you can never book on to. It's become harder and hard to book onto the sessions and the prices always rising. I've put in numerous complaints regarding the cleanliness of the changing facilities and toilets. The showers usual have alsorts stuck to the walls and the toilets always smell ripe!
Negative experience: The membership is a scam unless you are unemployed or retired. Hugely oversold so you cannot access any kit from 3pm until around 9pm. No gym etiquette enforced throughout. You can't swim because they'd rather get the extra $$ and charge families for swimming lessons from 3pm until around 8.30pm, so paid members dont get to use the pool after work, unless you fancy coming just before they close. 2* because the facilities are okay, aslong as you can pay as you go (which isn't the cheapest) during daytime hours. Otherwise 1* (it won't let me give lower)
Fantastic experience: Excellent pool
Fantastic experience: Brilliant leisure facility Large extensive free car park Very clean venue Cafe Helpful reception staff I used the spacious sports hall
Negative experience: Just been the leisure center! The reception staff need retraining urgent! Rude, shouting out to customers, tuting at customers, I wish I had gone and said something now, that is not the way to act infront of customers and their children. Very disappointed. Nice place ! but they need to sort the swimming pool change over waiting area out ASAP. Plus the outside landscaping it's all water logged !!
Positive experience: Nice pool and gym facilities
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, clean changing rooms and very helpful staff
Positive experience: I have a membership, I go often, it's always clean and the staff are lovely.
Fantastic experience: Great Facilities
Fantastic experience: Brilliant I got stuck on the motorway whilst I was taking my 3yr old grandson for his swimming lesson we were only going 1 junction and it took over 1hr and 1/2 hrs I explained to them the situation to see if there was anything they could do as by the time we had arrived he had missed his lesson they were brilliant they went above and beyond and fitted him in to the last pre school lesson I cannot thank or praise them enough plus one happy little boy
Positive experience: Myself, partner and child visited for swimming today. Great centre, pool was heated lovely and the staff were friendly. We've decided to make this our regular swimming spot.
Fantastic experience: Good value for money if you pay annual membership ~27 £, gym gets busy between 6 and 8 am
Positive experience: Good place to goodfor people and children that want to keep fin a d learn to swing and thinks
Fantastic experience: A great place. Loads of room to get round all the stalls at the antiques market.
Negative experience: Come to this gym if you want to be first in at 6am and everyday without fail, find the pictures mess because members don’t put the weights back, and staff watch and don’t say anything and then leave them there at closing time as well. Most days cleaning products and wipes are not restocked so machines are left full of sweat. Gym rarely has any staff in it before 8am and they let kids come in and use weights without supervision. Potential to be great, most members are brilliant but the way it is ran is embarrassing, dangerous and unacceptable.
Fantastic experience: Active ants is a great place to take toddlers. Lots of opportunities for socialising and playing
Positive experience: Great staff, very helpful. Good facilities. Clean.
Negative experience: Doesnt answer the phone havent got great customer service at all. Shocking system just puts the phone down when calling the centre to find out information.
Positive experience: Have started swimming lessons with my son and love them the only criticism is the lack of family changing rooms when there has been a baby swimming lesson on only 4 family changes and parents are often having to wait or take small babies into the smaller changing cubicles with no change unit on
Positive experience: Paid to use the steam rooms, good price to use them. Looked like a good leisure centre from what I sore. Been a member for a while now, it started of good but now there are way too many kids hogging the equipment and weights for far too long. Too many people for the size of the gym area. Not enough benches or free weights. People do not put weight back not just the kids. It is off putting and I am tempted to look elsewhere which is a shame as what equipment is there is good. The staff when there are staff in there do not look happy either.
Fantastic experience: Very busy on half term week. Cafe was full and everywhere seemed busy. Badminton court booked for an hour at reasonable price.
Fantastic experience: The Sk8 house roller discos are excellent at this venue. Very well organised, professionally ran and very friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended.
Positive experience: Great gym , nice cafe
Fantastic experience: Well organised swimming lessons. Clean changing cubicles. Plenty of parking. Seats available for parents to watch children
Fantastic experience: We come here regularly for swimming The changing rooms are second to none. Literally the best for family changing and individual changing with plenty of showers, toilets and lockers
Positive experience: Has nice and plentiful facilities. Joining is easy but ties u in for a minimum of 3 months by time u have managed to cancel. Too many kids in gym who stay on the kit for ages chatting. Weights not put away. Sauna/steam is good but pricey if not a member.
Fantastic experience: Newly constructed so everything is fresh and clean. I had a swim during an allotted session. Afterwards I had food from the onsite cafe, which was prepared fresh, good quality, well priced and all the staff were friendly and attentive
Fantastic experience: Lovely cafe, very helpful staff in the cafe and at reception. Not actually used the facilities yet, but all looks excellent. Very large car park with plenty of spaces and footpaths that link up to Hermitage Lake. It would be helpful on their website if there was more information about the cafe (opening times/menu/photos). Walking groups may wish to drop in off the nearby footpaths, but may not realise there is a cafe there.
Fantastic experience: New, clean. Good facility
Positive experience: Modern leisure centre. Good facilities but parking can be a challenge.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic value. Very well equipped gym. Heavy weights on the rack for those who have worked up to a good strength & lots of useful machines plus huge cardio selection etc. Large pool with jakuzi etc all in for the monthly price. Nice cafe with discount for members & friendly staff. Who could ask for more? Better not go on & on. It may encourage them to put up the price. We don't want that now do we?
Fantastic experience: My daughter was invited to a swimming party there and the kids had the best time. They had the entire pool area to that party, and it was nice that parents could watch how much fun they were having from the viewing area. It was well organised and all the kids were kept safe.
Negative experience: Car charging points didn't work it's taken us 4 hours to get home We could only find a 7kw one that worked
Positive experience: Lots to do here, facilities are new and clean. Cafe is pretty good too.
Negative experience: I attended a blood donor session today in the main hall..of course, you have to aquire, or have a pass card to gain access through barrier gates, but I suspect most donors do not have one. I did arrive a little late for my slot today and there was quite a queue of parents and children waiting get in. I was daunted thinking I would lose my place after a 12 week booking so I perhaps asked the receptionist out of turn, if I could pass through.... NO! Was the response.....apparently I was being rude by queue jumping ..so I was made to wait until the mums and kids could go through first. I was there to perhaps save some ones life by my donation..All I asked the receptionist was ..could you please press the button to facilitate my entry.... no! a finger could not be raised to do this..and yet 2 other members of staff just stood there talking to each other.. Apparently, asking staff to step up to the plate and be a little more accommodating is now seen to be classed as rude. My suggestion is to the leisure centre... allow all doners a pass card to gain entry when donating blood.
Positive experience: Great place only use it for swimming after had bad experience at Ashby this is a totally different experience. Top class facilities I use the monthly membership great value easy to book on App I use lane swimming, only down side is others users occasionally want to push past during swimming or swim wrong way when signs clearly direct you, not the end of the world though, you just have to be a bit brave if busy.
Fantastic experience: Great place great facilities
Fantastic experience: All new and shiny
Positive experience: Facilities are good.
Fantastic experience: Prosty zwykły basen ale w okolicy bardzo dobre miejsce. Siłownia również. Duży parking
Positive experience: Прекрасный спортивный центр! Всегда можно найти что-то по душе. Дружественный персонал.
Fantastic experience: They do offer a good deal for students
Fantastic experience: Lovely centre and friendly, helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: This place is fantastic with great facilities.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool and convenient
Fantastic experience: very fun
Fantastic experience: Swimming lessons for children were brilliant! Facilities great!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym and staff members too
Fantastic experience: Grandson has swimming lessons here. Very impressive pool and facilities.
Positive experience: Played Badminton here. Seems to be good facilities, staff were friendly and polite.
Fantastic experience: Son seems to like it... Family enjoyed swim, plenty changing cubicles, lockers & showers.
Positive experience: The jacuzzi needs to be warmer, other than that, a great place to work out
Positive experience: Great facilities, but your front of house staff need some training in basic customer service skills.
Fantastic experience: Very nice gym and building. Many great services and equipment just wish it was 24 hour.
Fantastic experience: Amazing centre, lovely staff! Huge variety of activities, my son and nephew love the volleyball!
Fantastic experience: Clean, not too expensive and all brand new! Easy app to book on
Negative experience: Good equipment and friendly staff although unfortunately gym just full of unsupervised kids
Fantastic experience: Nice clean and modern leisure centre. It's much better than the leisure centre in Loughborough.
Positive experience: Typical council leisure centre Poor service from reception team Cafe too small and under staffed Really shows when signs go up saying we won't tolerate abuse to our staff, if the customer service is done right it is a rare and well managed occurance
Fantastic experience: Went with grandchildren who were having swimming lessons. Lovely pool and staff with good snacks and drinks available.
Positive experience: Good gym and facilities but could do with less virtual classes and more in person classes as they are always over booked.
Positive experience: It's new it's nice and modern but already showing signs of wear. Me and the daughter went swimming and to be fair it was quite cool.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic leisure centre for everyone, nobody gets left out. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. They have so much to offer for all ages and abilities.
Positive experience: Always busy but have everything required. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare especially as they don't have parent and child spaces. Swimming lessons are great.
Positive experience: We had a 7 yrs old birthday party there for 15 kids They all loved it the food the centre provided the games and staff and food and it was very good food very reasonable price too we were very impressed with everything Definable recommended venue for a kids party even our guests said best ever party they had been too
Negative experience: Cancelled my membership due to poor management of the gym and rising membership costs, only use the gym but can't get a gym only membership, gym became rammed with way to many people which I felt was a risk to safety, letting people bring children in and other members leaving weights all over the place. Gym was a mess and turned into a youth club! Also spa facilities very poor cold jacuzzi and to many people allowed in at a time!
Positive experience: Facilities are good, if you are thinking of joining the gym, get a day pass first and go at the normal time you would typically train so you can get a feel, I often find it full of kids who train in groups blocking up equipment for far to long while they talk, discussing what falisha sent them on Snapchat and how she liked 3 insta posts. I though there would be an age restriction for kids or be supervised. I actually asked once how long this person would be and she replied that she had one set left. I timed 15 mins that I waited after, as she then deliberately wanted to make me wait just because I asked nicely. Her parents must be proud.
Fantastic experience: I can't contribute to all amenities, the pool is brilliant, granddaughter attended the gymnastics class and I was impressed with the way the instructors was with the children, it always appears clean.
Fantastic experience: What a fantastic Leisure Centre with excellent parking and accessibility of the A511
Positive experience: really nice gym, the pool is always fully booked so i can never go staff are super friendly too, though they seem understaffed some days - very modern and clean machines though.
Positive experience: Gym gets busy at peak times, bur is good. Main issue is the staff at front desk - need some serious customer service training!
Fantastic experience: Took my son to a swimming party, the little cafe inside cater for gluten free and have a good range of snacks, drinks and cooked food. They have a good range of facilities and the place is clean and well kept with plenty of polite staff.
Negative experience: 3 Questions. 1) Why are there always kids lifting weights and on their own? Many different kids too. 2) Why do the cleaning staff vacuum an inch from your feet when you're working out? (not even exaggerating) 3) Why are managers aggressive to their staff? And why do they argue in front of customers too? I guess that was more than three
Fantastic experience: Facilities are brilliant and highlights the investment made into the area. Swimming pool with loads of lessons, classes for all interests, gym with loads of equipment etc. Staff are friendly and always good to grab a coffee while kids have swimming lessons.
Positive experience: It's OK. I find the pool very cold, the children's pool is quite boring compared to other Leisure centres and there are such long waiting lists for aqua classes if you can get on at all! I have yet to use any other facilities.
Negative experience: Wouldn't even give this place a 1. Just appalled by the level of service. I rang a day prior to ask about there gym usage, explained I was a pro-athlete and wanted to come in for rest day cardio, was told this would be fine. Turned up to be told by a very rude staff member that I need a gym induction, I explained the above, she then took a call whilst still talking to me and said I still needed an induction to TURN the machines ON and OFF.
Positive experience: Nice enough, not as clean as when it first opened and the swimming equipment is tatty for aqua jog classes. Debbie the instructor is great
Fantastic experience: Great swimming facilities. Just do not use the confectionery machines on the way out because if you use contactless it takes your payment but doesn't give you anything in return.
Positive experience: Whilst the newest I wouldn’t say this is the best Everyone Active in the area. Firstly parking at the weekends is near impossible, this weekend with a swim meet and netball competition you were left parking offsite , crossing a busy road and walking in. The gym whilst modern is missing several staples in the weights area making it actually less equipped than the older Enderby gym. For cardio lovers bring a towel as it is far to warm to do any serious length of time on the treadmills or bikes. Now onto swimming, more specifically the lane swim sessions. If you are a sub 30 a length swimmer and rejoicing at the fast lane that on booking says for people that speed prepare to be disappointed. My one time there was 8 of us in that lane and all the other 7 (and yes I timed them) were between 40-55 a length. I even said to the lifeguard, I am in the fast lane right ? He laughed and said yes and I said maybe someone should tell this lot. If you going to have speeds per lane, enforce them. So whilst this is a handy backup centre until they better equip the gym, expand the car park and enforce the swimming I can’t recommend
Negative experience: The facilities are not aging well and I often find things out of order. The car park is dangerous as there are no marked walkways from anywhere in the car park to the leisure centre. To top it off they now charge an extra £2 plus the adult fee of £4.85 to take a baby swimming.
