Moorways Sports Village and Water Park combines a brand-new £42 million water park and leisure centre with the existing Moorways Stadium to create a fantastic new sports and leisure facility for the whole community. The new water park and leisure centre boasts an enormous 50m swimming pool, which can be split into three 25m pools. There are also three flumes and slides in the leisure pool, as well as a Wow Ball, to create waves in the leisure pool. There are also two soft play facilities, a state-of-the-art gym, group fitness studios, a teaching pool, as well as a sauna and steam room. The stadium complex comprises of an athletics track, as well as grass and artificial football pitches.

Negative experience: We've had such consistently bad experiences here. The swimming club for the kids was so ineffective after one year their we moved them elsewhere and they did more in 2 months at the new place then they managed in a year at moorways. Partly because its 10 kids to 1 teacher and they struggle to control and teach. We've also had a children's party here and from start to finish the communication was terrible and they failed to get ANYTHING ready for us, we had to chase everything. Avoid!
Negative experience: There is a start of the year promotion going on and the gym is massively over subscribed. Ques for machines and the treadmills.

Negative experience: Easily the worst place to take your kid to learn swimming, they have no idea what they are teaching, neither they keep track of sequence of steps they are supposed to do every session, just waste of money and time, just sitting thru the session is frustrating because you know it’s absolutely useless and does no good to your kid. I stopped taking my kid even though 5 more sessions were already paid because I didn’t want to waste anymore time on these good for nothing swimming lessons

Positive experience: I found the changing rooms dirty, for such a large organisation I can't understand why people aren't encouraged to remove their shoes before entering the changing rooms. Every swimming bath I've visited in Europe have this obligation. Several of the urinals were defective, as were couple of shower units, shows me a lack of maintenance/management. My wife who uses goggles told me the bottom of the pool was dirty, again bad pool management. The fact that it was a Sunday is not an argument, people want to use, and pay for the pool also on a Sunday. First impressions (our first visit) a bit disappointing.

Fantastic experience: I went to do the public swim at 2pm as the quiet swim was not on. I enjoyed the swim and after getting changed I went into the cafe for something to eat. It was fairly quiet even though the schools have broken up for Christmas.

Fantastic experience: Moorways is a great leisure centre. I have been swimming twice a week since it opened. The centre is well run and the booking system is easy to navigate. The changing rooms and showers are cleaned regularly and are always warm, which is very important to me!! My only criticism is the hairdryers sometimes take a while to be mended! I would definitely recommend a visit.

Positive experience: I take my grandson swimming every Tuesday and he loves it in the water park but the water is far too cold to stay in long especially as it is for parents and toddlers. He likes the play area.

Negative experience: Changing rooms and pool side dirty as people refuse to take their outdoor shoes off, which means the floor is dirty. Mud, chewing gum and leaves cover the floor. I have emailed a complaint over but nothing has changed.

Negative experience: Went for a birthday party, had a lovely time. Then asked about the water park area and asked if my daughter could use her snorkel googles (without the actual snorkel), and told no and she could hit someone . I explained that she has sen and sensory issues with the water in her nose, still wouldn't even consider it or even speak to management.

Negative experience: 27/09/2025 at 11:50AM. Whoever was on the phone, you have no empathy at all. Very bad customer service. Called them about moving our booking due to my daughter being in the a&e and not a single help was offered. Was told to do it online which we did, and guess what, it says that it's too late to do it. Well, the lady could've just told me that it's not possible rather than telling me something that can't be done. This could have probably been done with a few clicks on their computer. What a shame for such a big company.

Positive experience: I took my daughter & granddaughter to to kiddies splash pool. It was a bit too cold we thought and could've had more things to do/keep her interested. They're from Germany where they have high chairs in the showers so parents can shower while the baby is safe - Tip. The café & ball park were good Great news facility for Derby.

Fantastic experience: Just had a tour of the facilities from Cheema who was very attentive and helpful. The gym looks fab, big and all the equipment you could need. Negative experience: Was not clear on the website that when you book off peak you get 90mins stuck in the small waterpark. £10 each for this is overpriced. Website made it sound like you could access the pool to swim also. Will stick to my normal pool where it costs £5 for all 3 of us and the kids don't get bored. Disappointed.

Positive experience: Great place for kids to go to play in the water, several slides to go on and an obstacle course in the main pool (check when this is open as we were too late to go on). Unfortunately some parts were not working (possibly broken) but that didn't affect things much. Definitely worth a trip for something different to do.

Positive experience: Took my 2 kids really good fun. Floatation equipment is worn on the big inflatable meaning loads of fun even if they aren't great swimmers. Really fun slides just check height ratings to avoid disappointed little ones. Spacious changing rooms and showers. Wave pool is deeper than it looks in the still pictures so do bring arm bands for kids if needed, it's deeper than paddling height. I originally begrudged the time slots but meant it wasn't too busy which is the plus even if it was inevitably busy at times. All in all really fun experience for little ones.

Positive experience: First time playing at the water park today and I like the Atlantis inflatable, very good and exciting. However, I noticed that some parts of the facilities have sharp edges, which can be quite dangerous for children if they run into them. I got a small bruise on my leg when I went through the starting point and smashed the barrier of the top slide. Also, I see time schedules for public swimming on weekends do not offer that many time-friendly options for working individuals like me; most are family swimming after I asked the reception. Mostly, the waterpark provided a good environment for us to relax.

Fantastic experience: I was very impressed with the almost new look of this facility. I visited the water park and had the most fun EVER racing my brothers in the two slides. There were also mountain like sledge slide with a big drop that I went on by myself and brother which was very scary at first, but with the accompanying of the kind staff who calmed me down and assured my safety then I was going on again and again! There were two water slides which were very cool and a big swimming area with ocean like waves. Great experience will definitely come again! THANKS

Positive experience: Been here a few times with my teen son. Can get busy but the rides are good. There's been times when the two tunnel slides have closed, seems unfair but you can't grumble at the price for an hour and a half. Entrance staff seem lovely and there's not been a long waiting time to get in. Changing rooms, showers and toilet room areas seem clean enough. It's people that are dirty a d disrespectful leaving g rubbish everywhere because their sprogs are screaming the place down. Lifeguards are on point, friendly. You feel safer when they're not afraid to deal with unruly kids. Parking is free for 3 hours but you have to enter your reg plate in the main entrance area. The staff usually remind you of this.

Positive experience: The pool is very nice but it's a shame the cafe serves mostly junk food and there is a lack of healthy options. Given the fact this facility should promote health would it not be better to serve healthier options to customers and make them cheaper?

Fantastic experience: One of the best water parks in the UK. Went with 6 kids and I definitely enjoyed it just as much as them!! Love the slides and there was hardly any queuing!

Negative experience: Receptionist was miserable not very welcoming. All other staff seemed the same, no one said hello. Family changing facilities were disgusting overflowing bins and dirty nappies left on the floor. Attended baby sensory it was OK but other than some flashing lights it was disappointing as I thought there would be more geared up to babies. We found it difficult to get into the pool with babies so would be hard to attend alone.

Fantastic experience: Had a sports massage from Tom... For years I've struggled with circulation issues and Tom knew exactly what to do. I recommended Tom to a colleague of mine who has suffered in pain with back issues... He went and in his words "OMG I can't believe what Tom did.... I am in no pain at all".... Highly recommend this amazing and professional service

Positive experience: It's easy to book and always enjoy the aquamarine session with my son. What spoils the experience is the cafe on the reception floor. Everytime we go, there's a mess, short of food, cutlery or others, or they stop serving at 4pm, staff who is either too tired or dismissive. If the other facilities are operating so should cafe.

Positive experience: Take my son here for swimming lessons. His teacher is great, can't fault him on that side of things. There is room for improvement though...class sizes can be very big which means focus isn't always there for each individual. To say it's a pretty new building, it always smells really bad in the changing area. The showers are a good temperature but are push button operated and the majority only stay on a few seconds at a time. The waiting area to watch your kids swim is like an oven.
Fantastic experience: Have only been in the learning pool as I take a baby with me & the water is warm in there. It's a lovely atmosphere, they turn the lights down low, have music playing & lights on the wall
Negative experience: Had a very disappointing experience at Moorways on May 10th. I showed up unaware of a gala taking place — I received no email about it, even though I’ve always gotten updates before. When I asked the receptionist, she was rude, unhelpful, and dismissive, saying I never signed a consent form (even though I’ve been getting emails until just last month). What really upset me was her completely different attitude toward white customers — polite and helpful to them, cold and dismissive to me. It felt like clear discrimination and made me feel unwelcome and targeted. Extremely unprofessional and upsetting experience. I expected better.

Positive experience: It's a nice pool but the wave and huge ball I think is a waste of use... Thier is no area for a child to swim as the swimming pool is in diffrent area and you can't swim thier as we went to go for a swim but was told we can't as we were using the inflatable park and other area for disabled swim so I was rather confused maybe before you go get details of what areas you can use and not.. The fumes are good for kids but I was worried as the rings you have to carry up alot of stairs and with being a grandma was concerned of a accident happening as was very busy and kids where running around so was very safe that was my personal thought..
Fantastic experience: First time here today with my wife and 2 kids, and we all enjoyed ourselves. Good value for money, and plenty for the kids to do. The only down side was a dirty nappy on the floor in the changing rooms, but that's more down to people not having the common decency to clean up after themselves. We will be coming back again.
Positive experience: Moorways water park is real good fun. Can be busy at times. A great day out with kids.
Negative experience: Swim lessons are waste of money your kid will not learn anything instructor drag the lessons out and don't let your kid go up to the next level doing pointless stuff every lesson. Lessons start late finish early. You speak with instructors you just get pointless answers put complaint in they say swim manager will be in touch and never does. And the changing rooms are dirty all the time.
Negative experience: Disappointing to say how new the Center is. I swim 3 times a week at 7:30pm in the lanes and every single time I go the changing rooms are dirty and disgusting with nappies and tissues everywhere. The lifeguards do nothing when there are people messing about in the lanes. The pool itself is always freezing and uncomfortable, even after you’ve started swimming. Not worth the £30 membership fee honestly. If I could go somewhere else I would.
Fantastic experience: Kids loved it, all staff friendly and approachable, well organised so it doesn't get too busy in changing area and everywhere nice and clean.
Negative experience: These people never answer the phone ive came to the reception and called the number the dude would just ignore the calls what a waste of people time. and then u ask for a sauna steam room pass and they tell you its fully Booked so why not answer the call and just say it instead of people driving all the way to you
