Lammas Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted with the lack of care ,booked a gym induction for today and arrived in plenty of time only to be told they had no record of my booking ! Then said they had no one free to go through with me so wasted journey .3 hours later still waiting for a phone call ?? Paid for membership last weekend a whole week without anything from it ! Going to cancel it

Negative experience: Do you know what I try often not to leave negative reviews Put the stuff inside the café inside the centre on the ground floor are so rude They are not welcoming they are not warm. They just have attitude. My visit today and the woman on there really was not nice
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the café staff during your visit. We strive to provide a welcoming environment for all our guests. Please feel free to reach out to us at www.everyoneactive.com/enquiries so we can discuss this further.

Fantastic experience: We’ve been going to Lammas Leisure Centre since we moved here in 2013. The staff are great, the facilities are great, the gym upgrade is excellent and the cafe is superb.

Fantastic experience: Ice rink is lovely when quiet staff really helpful and friendly. Swimming pool is a good temp and deep enough.
Fantastic experience: I love it.i am great at ice-skating because of this place.
Fantastic experience: I love it.i am great at ice-skating because of this place.
Positive experience: Take my children swimming every Monday (even Bank holiday, excluding Christmas) around decent experience every week
Positive experience: Been using the gym over 10 years. Toilet are constantly out of hand soap and are usually disgusting. The disabled toilet is thick with dirt and grime and has been that way for months. The gym is always spotless though. Staff in the gym are brilliant but some of the machines barely ever get used and it would be great if they were replaced with something people will use. The machines that barely get touched and the seated bicep and tricep as you walk in, the leg kick back thing nobody EVER uses near smith, the lower back machine near the ab machine. Get rid of those 4 machines and replace with another chest, shoulder or calf machines.
Fantastic experience: They teach me very well
Fantastic experience: Very impressed. Nice clean, modern centre. Nice to have an ice rink as well, even though it's only a very small one (just over half the size of Ice Sheffield), but it's great for learning to skate!
Negative experience: Likes to employe bullies. I'm so disgusted don't worry Jacqui Tillman the CEO will know what has happened I'll take this further.
Positive experience: This is more for public ice skate, I've been on 4 separate occasions over the past 3 months and the ice rink has been rammed which you expect for the winter but what is shocking is the amount of aids (the walrus's) being used when it's busy and it's usually teenagers or tweens whizzing round and high speeds cutting people up, the snowmen for the kids I understand but the walrus's surely are a danger, I do think after the ice rink gets so busy as it has on Sundays the walrus's should be banned, I'm a comfortable skater and can skate well enough to be stable and even I struggle, your battling constantly with the walrus's and the experienced skaters pulling stunts in the middle and you genuinely can't avoid anything and adult public skate would be really good to see!
Negative experience: Overall facilities might be ok for the wider community. The gym though looks like as a secondary school gym with all these kids around. Not suitable for adults who work and want to train after work. Also closes early on weekends and closed most of the time during holidays/bank holidays
Positive experience: Why does the gym run out of antibacterial wipes so often. Surely this is a must. Our membership fees aren't cheap and the supply of wipes should be provided please.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, friendly staff, lots of equipment choice within the gym. Could open earlier than 8am on weekends but that’s just me being an early bird
Fantastic experience: The skating session was to kick start the month of Dec, can't fault anything about this visit, fun was had by all and can't wait for next visit.
Fantastic experience: It’s good I played bowls
Negative experience: Thinking of changing gyms as not as clean. Kids running about wild in the corriders Went Saturday and no wipes to wipe down equipment as they had ran out. I left.
Negative experience: So many children in the gym at peak time after work. They are in groups, hogging equipment, or just sitting on nearby equipment, not using it whilst chatting to mates. It’s not a crèche! You’re obviously not monitoring the so called restricted times as when I’m training around 5:45pm it’s full of kids, what a joke! Thinking of leaving to anytime fitness with a higher age restriction.
Fantastic experience: My granddaughter swam unaided for the first time last week. I was really proud of her as she has only been having lessons since June plus she is only 3 years old. Thank you to all the pre school stage 1 teachers for their patience.
Negative experience: Way too many kids in here at the minute, gangs of 3/4 at a time hogging a already busy gym! The council needs to reevaluate the times these younger kids can train so it doesn't affect the regular users who have a limited time to get some expercise in! The gym needs monitoring alot to stop 'non members' scanning their pals QR code or using another person's card to get in, this would sort the issue out very quickly of overcrowding in here. Come on llamas get on it and get it sorted
Fantastic experience: Very good gym. Plenty of wquipment.
Fantastic experience: As a pensioner I was very unsure about joining a gym but I think it's one of the best things I have done my mobility is improving and it also gives you a chance to meet other people and feel good about yourself
Positive experience: Great gym with variety of equipment
Fantastic experience: Terrific I loved the pool it's really big you'll be surprised once you get there and it also has a really good gym
Fantastic experience: Great facilities with plenty of different activities to do
Fantastic experience: I do like lammas low cost activities to do with kids such as Swimming and play centre these being low cost useful to have near you if you live near lammas for school hols for example £5 admission or £2 for under 2s u don't need to pay for adult like the likes of jangos Plus arguably there's more there then jangos play centre and others Also the swimming pool is good very cool relaxed activity to do with the kids also low cost From what I gather lammas is one of the best leisure centres around locally can't think of any others that has all of the following nearby :soft play :ice skating :laser tag :swimming :gym :variety of sporting activities to book :courts and pitches :fitness classes This leasure centre seems have it all

Positive experience: A lovely family park and a relaxing pool area for the summer days we will be having.
Positive experience: Great leisure centre and facilities. It would be good if the pool was like Kirkby Leisure centre though, able to go on one level for aqua aerobics as seem to be either in the shallow end, towards the deep end or limited space in the middle. Great classes though
Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed the time there
HI Simon, Thank you so much for your positive feedback
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, including two swimming pools and a large, modern gym that will cater for any fitness level. This leisure center is also well laid out, so all facilities are easy to get to. It is disabled friendly with excellent parking for disabled people. All-in-All an excellent leisure center that has everything you need no matter the activity you participate in.
Fantastic experience: Always good class with a good instructor
Hi David, Thank you for your feedback. I will make sure I pass your compliments to the Group Exercise Instructors.
Positive experience: Water in pool normally on the cool side
Hi Debbie, Thank you for the positive rating. It is greatly appreciated. Regarding your feedback about water temperature, we maintain the main pool between 28 and 29 degrees. The learner pool is a constant 30.
Fantastic experience: Proper good setup in the gym plenty of machines and free weights.
Negative experience: Absolutely awful now that kids are allowed in the gym until closing time. It is like a youth club. They are sat on equipment in groups of 3&4 just talking and taking photos and not training. Staff don't seem to care that they are all just lounging around and having a total disregard for equipment etc. Through this I have cancelled my 20 year plus membership , it used to be a good place to train.
Hi Di, Sorry about the delay in reply. This has been noted and we have made some minor adjustments to our programming. Only 14 years + are allowed access at any time. Junior gym has now been restricted to 3.30pm - 5.30pm. The staff have all been briefed and will be making a concious effort to reduce any behaviours you have mentioned in your feedback.
Fantastic experience: Update 06/25: The only things worth noting are that the aircon is either not on or not on very much and t gets pretty stifling in the summer heat. And there are still some ignorant gym goers who don't replace their weights. But other than that, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Talking specifically about the gym here... I've been a regular for the last 8 months and can't fault it. Great equipment, good opening hours, friendly staff. Apart from the odd ignorant sod, the other members are a decent bunch as well. Obviously there are times you have to avoid but that's the same anywhere.
Hi Darren,
Thank you for your feedback, we hope you are continuing to enjoy the facilities.
Positive experience: Nedabūjām rezervāciju uz slidotavu
Fantastic experience: Love tag active and swimming here. Good fun.
Fantastic experience: TagActive 100%. It was a birthday party and all children came out beaming.
Fantastic experience: Best leisure centre in the world!
Negative experience: I will post this for a second time as my comments have clearly been taken down by the company due to being part of the council, After a poor experience, people should be able to see this review comment to make their own judgements, On entering the building our son ran into a metal advertising board and it fell and cut him, we then went up for the soft play session with our autistic nephew at 11:27 we were told by a rude member of staff that we had to wait until 11:30 which would be fine if they had already moved on the other session but still had to wait for that therefore cutting our session short and as it is Christmas the sessions are shorter anyway. During our session, my autistic nephew managed to go into the laser tag area which the exit had been left open by a member of staff and again the rude member of staff aggressively approached our autistic nephew who was already struggling with sensory overload, after that when we were explaining that he had autism on multiple occasions and Is non verbal the staff members carried on then being aggressive towards another family member and blaming us for the failings of the centre, A short while later, after that settled down, a member of staff let our nephew out of the soft play centre who then ran all the way to the ice rink and nearly stepped on the ice again we get our nephew back to the soft play at this point it really didn't feel safe at all for our children, At 1 pm on the dot we got a tannoy telling us to collect our "things" and to get out as the centre was closing something we were unaware of before entering the centre they then switched the lights off to rush us even more and we had to get all the children together and sorted we couldn't do that when we had an autistic child that is now panicking due to the lights being switched off, On the way out of the building the staff members downstairs were mopping the floors and the tiled floors were very slippy and was no way of avoiding it we had a couple of our older members of the party slipping and unsteady due to the wet floors the slipped and very nearly fell over. In summary, I do not recommend the whole centre for children under 5 as it is unsafe for them to use. ● I will keep posting this review until it is left for public view as it is not right negative true reviews are being removed by the business ●
Positive experience: Our son loves the soft play here and we find it very good value for money. We swapped to here for his swimming lessons as his previous provider could only offer us a slot for his age group at the same time as his nap. We do love the lessons, and he has improved greatly. However, we would like to have some pictures of his swimming journey, which we could with our other provider. We don't understand how we can take pics during open swimming sessions, but not in lessons. We only want pics of him, and wouldn't include other children/families or the instructors. As such we will probably move back to other provider once he stops napping.
Positive experience: Place can sometimes be slow on reception, and telephoning to book isn't a good idea, but staff are always friendly and helpful
Thank you for your feedback Paul, we are working hard to try and resolve the issus you have raised - and we really appreciate the review.
Negative experience: Went to go get some food from the cafe at the weekend while waiting for the christmas party to start, my jacket potato was practically raw. Wasn’t cheap either. Went back to complain later on but the shutters were down? Hope someone can look into this. Otherwise, Party was great, and the costumes were awesome.
Fantastic experience: Kids enjoyed ice skating to Xmas tunes and I had fun in the well equipped gym. It wasn't too busy and the music was only slightly terrible but tolerable...
Hi Dan,
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review on our facilities. We are glad that you all enjoy your time here and look forward to seeing you on site again.
Fantastic experience: Good craic for the kids!!
Positive experience: Great place to get fit ,plenty of parking
Fantastic experience: First class experience, and very pleasant staff.
Negative experience: Playing bowls on a regular basis with the average age of fellow bowlers being 70 plus we have complained to the staff for a number of weeks regards no heating in the bowls area like being on the Ice rink let's have action now
Negative experience: Since taking 2 rinks off the bowling area and making another Gymnasium room there is no HEATING in this room and it is like playing bowls in Antarctica .because they are trying to save money on the heating
Positive experience: Been coming for the past two years, used to have loads of classes available, now it's hard to find a class. All the classes on the weekend are virtual, what's happened to all the instructor led classes?
Negative experience: Used to be a member over the past year been ill unable to attend when I asked for help they did not want to know but were soon quick enough to remind me when membership due also to felt discriminated against due to having lymphoma in left leg
Negative experience: Great facilities and a great asset to the area. Kept very clean. Unfortunately the management, organisation and customer service is shocking and they don't give a damn. The website to book activities is TERRIBLE. A 3 year old could design it better. I'm good with computers but trying to book and pay for a tag active session has me pulling my hair out.
Negative experience: Booked a swimming session a few days ago for the new year. Got there 90 minutes earlier for the gym. 45minutes before the swimming session should of start I get a phone call to say they're is an error on the system. No swimming at seven as they shut at the time. They have saw saw walk in with a massive swimming bag but if I couldn't make it to swimming with 45 minutes of notice I would of got charged. Double standards. If I got notified even an hour before it would of saved me a trip as I rely on swimming as my main excercise. And just to top it off I've now had my car scratched on the pointless journey home.
Fantastic experience: Great selection of equipment! Cleaning wipes also provided, scales, BMI checker and height measure! Very clean and tidy and air conditioning!
Negative experience: What a nightmare. My daughter and her friends decided to go ice skating, last minute. The website gave one price and the app said another price. They get there, but can't get in because the place doesn't let you pay by cash. So I turn up to pay and because I don't have an 'Everyone Active' card I had to give a load of my details over?? All of this was also cutting into their session time. I'd definitely go somewhere else in future, where you can just turn up, pay cash or card and without the unnecessary information gathering inquisition.
Negative experience: Went to the soft play area. Wanted to charge £5 per adult. There was 2 couples with one child each so would have been over £30 for 2 children's play time. One was less then 18mnths old the other just 5. Massively over priced
Fantastic experience: Lovely place to visit my little girl goes swimming twice a week and we stay in the cafe with our little boy and watch through the window the staff are lovely especially Lorraine who works in the cafe she goes above and beyond for our son Jackson such a kind and generous lady such an asset to Lammas
Thank you for your review. I will be sure to pass your comments on to Lorraine, who will be extremely grateful.
Positive experience: Great place soft play area, plenty to keep them entertained and the cafe is reasonably priced, the staff are very friendly and helpful, best to download the app and register, it's a faf, but once done you can book your child into a time slot, pay there and then I.e at home, at present its £5 for 1.5 hours, well worth it. It was busy mid afternoon, but if you try early to mid morning or 3pm on wards I think these will be quieter times. Once registered you can see your membership card this will gives you 20% off the food. Just photo the screen as the WiFi is not great while your in the building.
Negative experience: Only been a member for a couple of weeks. Went to use the gents showers and found black mould on the tile grouting and no shortage of dirt on the tiles behind and below the bench seats of the shower area. I reported it and will go back in a couple of days to see if it has been cleaned.
Positive experience: The gym is great following the refurb. Machines and equipment are always clean and the HIIT area is great.
Fantastic experience: Astonishingly good leisure facility. Everything from ice hockey to climbing to laser tag. Really impressed!
Negative experience: We turned up on time, 15mins early for the tag active as instructed by the website. Got turned away abruptly and advised to try the cafe while we wait. Turn up when asked only to be back of a very long queue. Turns out there's no briefing whatsoever and you need to figure it out. Hardly any where to sit due to a party but I find a seat while my daughter plays. I then get asked to move by the party entertainers and end up sitting in a walkway with the chair I took with me. Disgusting how I've been treated by rude staff who don't know how to welcome people.
Negative experience: Went to the soft play with a 1 year old. Big kids 10 years old plus jumping climbing all over the under 3 area. Totally unsafe for little children. Complained multiple times while staff stood and watched. Ended up getting a refund and being told 'what do you expect its the school holidays'. I'd expect someone to care about the safety of their customers. If you not going to bother don't have facilities for babies.
Negative experience: Ice rink area was ok. Not too busy so easy to teach my toddler even tho I need teaching myself. Reported broken glass in the car park which was not cleaned up at all after reporting it. Told front desk proper place to find the location. Even was asked a second time to confirm but still no joy. Luckily didn’t go into my car tyres. Maybe part of the Duty Manager checks as morning open checks? This will improve safety and better guest experience to the venue. Also no soap in ice rink bathrooms to wash hands properly after going to the restroom. Clearly not checked when cleaning prior to opening if cleaned at all. Won’t stop me coming again but hopefully these things will be addressed.
Negative experience: My experience with Lammas Leisure Center was quite good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Last month my daughter started swimming lessons and I'm a little disappointed, we pay for 30 min lessons. Today my daughter's swimming lesson should start 18:00 but started 18:06 and finished 18:30 and that not first time when they late to start lesson but don't extend to 30 min session. 6 min doesn't look a lot, but when every time late over month we lose half session and so on...
Fantastic experience: Great group cycle studio
Fantastic experience: Love the instructor led classes at Lammas
Positive experience: Only downside carpark can get extremely busy . Been using the facilities for years
Positive experience: Fabulous quiet little ice rink. Soft play and Tag active are fun, just don't bother ringing for anything you will need to go in and do it in person as the phone never gets answered.
Negative experience: Absolutely appalled tonight… Me and my family visit this centre nearly 3 times a week for ice skating, all staff have always been friendly and welcoming towards us. So tonight the kids was skating and my girlfriend was taking a picture as her daughter wanted to show her friends, instantly a ‘manager’ Belinda was straight there saying that it’s not allowed… (granted) we then apologised but she wasn’t accepting it, she kept saying it wasn’t allowed and made us feel really uncomfortable. Then she walked away to the skate rental, we was looking over and Belinda was talking to her colleague and pointing (we felt uncomfortable again). Our 2 year old dropped his dummy on the floor (if you’ve been to a Friday night disco you’ll know how dark it is) then we watched Belinda storming back round to us yet again, she arrived to say I’ve told you already to stop taking pictures, I was fast to show her that it was just my torch on but yet again, no reasoning with her, she then proceeded to tell me she has authority to remove me out of the premises, I asked for having my torch on, is that possible… for asking that, she asked me to leave the premises, I asked Belinda to call the manager to come down, I was told she was the manager and I had to await a call on Monday from a manager above Belinda!!! She then stood watching me while I took my kids boots off making us all feel very uncomfortable including our children… which I thought was absolutely disgusting of someone to put us all under this embarrassment! Once we was all sorted, we walked out the premises but as she followed us out she was telling us to get out… at this point, I thought I’d actually take a picture so I can go to the higher management to confirm who this person was. LAMMAS WHY DO YOU HAVE STAFF TREATING CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS, ITS ABSOLUTELY APPALLING BEHAVIOUR FROM A SO CALLED MANAGER!!!!
Positive experience: Me and my friend visited the soft play today with our daughter's ( under 2 ) was extremely happy with the customer service we received from a really lovely lady who was working on this area ( lovely tanned possibly mixed ethical background lovely long hair ) working what I'm assuming is the late shift coming in around 4 till close I'm assuming as two other staff left who was on the counter once she came and she seemed to be alone on the counter. She was extremely lovely and was just a really happy shining character she was beyond helpful bringing our food too us because the kids where kicking off she even brought the kids little plates and spoons. She was so lovely to My daughter as well making conversation and just being really friendly and welcoming and just making the overall experience really lovely it's not often you find staff who are really good at there job and who are genuinely happy so well done to the management who hired her she's definitely an asset to your team! And just such a wonderful soul people who do great at there work deserve a shout out because it's not very often you meet someone that makes your day that more brighter. Thank you! Oh and the soft play was super clean and tidy! Only down side is I feel £6 is alot for just the soft play ( under 4 area ) when other soft plays are half this price and that there was older kids in there effecting the littles ones play because they just kept tipping the slide over but other then that we had a great time.
Positive experience: Nice clean gym and activities for children, soft play & tag, swimming lessons fab, can’t fault Katie enough for stage 2 for Logan! however the phone lines are shocking you spend all day trying to get through and still no luck
Positive experience: Really clean place, it was my first time here, the ice rink could be bigger, because for the U14's upwards ice hockey teams need a bigger ice rink, and also the changing room is too small. But it is really clean and welcoming, well worth a visit
Positive experience: Good layout. Great soft play with a tag system like the tag active. Friendly staff. Struggle to contact them by phone, social media or email. A big lack of communication from them about closures and the new bonuses alongside the raised direct debit prices. Lack of knowledge about ice times. Off ice floor now slippy when wet when before refurb it wasn't. Dents in ice from the ramps from the Zamboni, not great for people who are new to skating. Website terrible to negotiate and app is not much better. It would be good if they provided a sign both sides of the pool to indicate where non swimmers have to stop.
Positive experience: The staff are awesome and I cannot fault them at all, when I had problems with my membership card they managed to sort it quickly and with a smile on their face even though it was 7am. I have only used the leisure centre for swimming and the facilities are adequate although some of the changing rooms are quite dark because the over head lighting doesn't reach them all. Although not a fault of the centre itself because there is signage nearly everyone walks in and out of the wet areas in their outdoor shoes and trainers instead of taking a minute to sit on the benches provided outside the changing rooms, water + whatever people have stepped in isn't a good combination. The pool is usually very busy which can cause congestion with the slow lane sometimes being painfully slow and the medium lane used as another fast lane with no middle ground. It's a shame the pool isn't as big as the one it replaced given how popular swimming was in the town (it used to be serviced by a full sized competition pool and half sized teaching pool). I would like to emphasize again though that the staff are very helpful and friendly.
Negative experience: I come here nearly every day of the week for Gym and Fitness classes, my children also attend swimming lessons and everything is normally great! Just recently the cleanliness of upstairs dance hall is disgusting. The floor is covered in mud, stones and hair and has been the same for weeks. It's disgusting when you have to lay on the floor when working out and someones hair is layed on the floor next to you. Something needs to be done in regards to getting the hall cleaned properly, its unhygienic!
Fantastic experience: Visited the new soft play area, wonderful under 3's part. Went to the downstairs cafe afterwards for some hot food and a coffee. Will definitely be returning!
Fantastic experience: The weight machine next to Gym door should be for free to let everybody control their weights… we already paying subscription
Fantastic experience: We go here for my daughters swimming lessons, it's easy to find there's ample parking, and as well as swimming there's a gym and soft play area
Fantastic experience: Went to the aqua class . I really enjoyed it
Fantastic experience: Fantastic. Did the tag active so much fun. Much better than Ninja Warrior in Sheffield.
Fantastic experience: Came for a look around a few weeks ago. Blown away by Naomi & Chloe. From start to finish they were friendly and welcoming, very informative and professional. Thanks ladies.
Fantastic experience: Went to look around the gym for the first time. I can't believe how many times we have swam there and I've not used the gym. It's amazing, best equipment I've seen in years. I've used it before the renovation but not since. Now I'm looking to join. Also the swimming facilities are good and the soft play area for children looks amazing. I will be taking my toddler to go and try it out soon.
Fantastic experience: Started swimming lessons a couple of weeks ago and my little girl has grown in confidence. The teachers have really engaged with her and she loves coming to lessons every week. Definitely recommend
Fantastic experience: Great facilities for many indoor sports. Everything is kept well cleaned and in function. There's a café if you want to kill some time and there are all sorts of swimming and ice skating lessons available for people to try out. If you need to reserve anything their website is clear and helpful or you could just give them a call to check. Overall a great leisure centre.

I'll be back next week and I've told everyone I know where to come for a good afternoon with the kids ! X
