Our comment from FitFit UK about Pingles Leisure Centre:
Pingles Leisure Centre, located in Nuneaton, offers a variety of sports and recreational activities for all ages. The centre is praised for its excellent facilities, friendly and attentive staff, and a range of swimming lessons, particularly for children. Many users enjoy the aqua classes and commend the swimming instructors for their quality teaching.
Users appreciate the good range of sports available and the convenient location with ample parking. However, several reviews point out some areas needing improvement. The changing facilities, particularly in the swimming area, have received criticism for cleanliness and odors, with reports of unpleasant smells and maintenance issues. Additionally, some users have expressed frustration with the booking system and overcrowding during peak times.
Overall, Pingles Leisure Centre provides a lively environment for families and individuals, with plenty of activities to enjoy, but addressing cleanliness and customer service could greatly enhance the visitor experience.

Pingles Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Hardly and changing rooms for all of the kids which meant my 5 year old daughter had to stand soaking wet and cold for nearly 10 minutes till 1 came available. Shouldn't be open why renovation is being done!

We understand how important it is for our facilities to be comfortable for everyone, especially young children. Pingles Leisure Centre
Negative experience: Called as I wanted to book my son for swimming lessons. The boy on the phone Said someone will call me back shortly. An hour went by and no one did. I called again and he cut me off. Called again and same thing and now not answering my call? All because I want to book lessons. Please listen back to calls from today as nothing rude has been said it’s just pure laziness. I’ve tried doing it online but just keeps saying error please contact the centre
Thank you for your review. I'm truly sorry to hear about your experience when trying to book swimming lessons for your son. This is not the level of service we aim to provide at Pingles Leisure Centre. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. We would like to resolve this for you as soon as possible. Could you please contact us through our website at www.everyoneactive.com/enquiries so we can assist you further.
Negative experience: The price doesn't match the quality, the equipment is old and often broken. Half of the gyms were closed for six months, and no one did anything for six months. After reopening, work suddenly began, and there are constant disruptions. The locker rooms stink (probably water or pipes that need replacing). There's no option to buy a gym-only membership—you have to pay for everything, even if you don't use the pool. If it weren't for the hard work of the trainers, who care about relationships and client satisfaction, most would have quit after their first visit. In my opinion, everything needs a complete overhaul and replacement. I just want to thank the few trainers who are still fighting for this place. :) I just canceled my membership. Good luck.
Thank you, Aneta, for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We're truly sorry to hear about your experience at Pingles Leisure Centre. We're grateful for your kind words about our trainers, and we will certainly pass on your appreciation to them. If you have any further comments or would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please feel free to contact us at www.everyoneactive.com/enquiries. Thank you once again for your feedback, and we wish you all the best.
Negative experience: gym ever. Old equipment. You have to be careful not to break anything during exercise. I used this gym for two years, but in recent weeks I've been very disappointed and decided to quit today. The lady at the membership arena is constantly eating. In my opinion, the employees at Everyone Active should set an example, not discourage you. I don't recommend it and I advise against it. The locker rooms are dirty and the showers smell. It's a shame the trainers have to listen to all the complaints because they are really nice and helpful. Not recommend this gym.
Hello Krystian,

Negative experience: No pool for children and families. Pool Shut sience January what a disgrace. Can you hurry up and open the pool before summer is gone again

Fantastic experience: Megan teachers our 4 year old, she is encouraging and enthusiastic, Frankie now enjoys coming to swimming lessons!
Thank you so much, Jack, for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that Megan's encouragement and enthusiasm have made such a positive impact on Frankie's swimming lessons. It's fantastic to know that Frankie enjoys coming to the sessions. We look forward to seeing both of you at Pingles Leisure Centre again soon!
Negative experience: gym changing rooms stink
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am truly sorry to hear about your experience with the gym changing rooms. We strive to maintain a clean and pleasant environment for all our members, and it seems we have fallen short in this instance. Please be assured that we are looking into this matter to ensure improvements are made. Your input is invaluable to us, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Negative experience: There are a few issues - the changing room is filthy. Dirty nappies, hair, smells awful. Needs a huge revamp and perhaps a bit more consideration from users. The timings for adults really aren’t good either. They run weekday sessions for lane swimming 7-3pm (peak work time) and then one session at 9pm. Nothing for adults on Saturday at all and then not until 2pm on Sunday. I appreciate they have a lot of swimming lessons but there’s much smaller EA pools around the country (my last centre was tiny in comparison (who split the pool into lanes and swim lesson zones. Similarly with family swim and lanes. It’s a shame but it is more of a youth club / swim school than anywhere to seriously exercise.
Negative experience: The centre takes a very long time to move your child from one stage to the next, which is really annoying. Your child's teachers don't even care about their progress or offer them encouragement. The longer the child stays in same stage n not advance, the happier the centre is from the business point of view. The teachers are still far away from testing my child, who has been in stage 6 for 40 weeks. I can see that he can swim all strokes and pass the present level, but the centre isn't bothering to upgrade him. To add more on this, I find it frustrating that his teacher doesnt point the areas of improvement if there are any.
Positive experience: My swimcwas good and lovely shower afterwards but was disappointed to still see the leisure pool with no water in it. Such a shame as would have been great for the children at Easter.
Negative experience: The equipment is pretty good when it’s working. Some of the staff are really on the ball but others are not. The app that you have to use now there’s only half a gym available because of structural problems with the building doesn’t always work. It’s not worked on my phone despite updating the app and following the instructions I know that there’s lots of others that struggle to use the app to book it’s Often left short staffed on the front desk to book in so you can be there waiting in awhile and the car park machines are often playing up
Negative experience: After training in several gyms in the West Midlands and abroad I can say without a shadow of a doubt this has to be the worst gym i I have been to in years. Nearly every piece of gym machinery is rusted to the point you physically have to pull the smith machine down during bench press. The building has been broken and ‘under repair’ since January and there seems to be no end in sight to this tragedy. This means the children’s pool is closed and it was the only reason I chose this gym initially so my daughter could swim! I’ve come to realise the bath tub would probably do better! The younger staff are very kind… that’s about the good thing I can say about this place. There are about 4-5 other gyms in the area that are much better and cheaper definitely check your options before locking in here!! You’ve been warned!
Negative experience: Pingles Leisure Centre just gets more and more frustrating the more you try to deal with them. Last year my 4 year old was kept in stage 1 longer than he needed to be because there were too many children in the class which meant what he was achieving wasn't being noticed. I moved his class to a new teacher and his first lesson with her she said 'he doesn't need to be in this class' and immediately moved him up which means I'd been paying for stage 1 lessons that he didn't need. I tried to talk to a manager about this but spoke to someone on reception about it and he was extremely rude and basically refused to let me speak to the manager. It was only when I put in an enquiry online that she came back to me but even on that phone call she wasn't really listening to what I had to say and kept talking over me. I have just tried to ring to cancel my sons lessons and got through 4 times but was hung up every time before even speaking to someone (but I could hear people talking in the background) on the 5th time I got through and they took no responsibility for it and just said 'I don't know why that happened' I find the staff rude with no customer service at all, the changing rooms smell like wee most of the time and there isn't enough big baby change stalls for all the pushchairs that get brought in. The last row of changing rooms by the showers are always flooded too which means you basically can't use them to get dressed. Some of the swim teachers are lovely but they just have too many children in each class to manage them well.
Negative experience: Changing rooms smell like piss. Got told it opened at 6 midweek by counter staff. Showed up early and it's all closed. Great - Typical E.A service
Fantastic experience: Great sports centre
Negative experience: ANSWER THE DAMN PHONES!!!
Negative experience: 1st thing I must say is the swimming teachers are very good, the one thing that put this place down is the changing facilities in the swimming area. Every week, they stink of urine, and on my last visit, it stunk of poo. One of the changing rooms had poo fragments on the bench in one of the changing rooms Disgusting!
Positive experience: I visited the family pool with my 9yr old granddaughter today and she really enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and the lifeguard was very attentive and not a buzz kill like in some pools. The water was a comfortable temperature. It’s a pity the outside pool area was closed on a sunny day in July! On the down side, the changing room area was very smelly of stale urine. The shower was impossible to use as the water was so hot! The shower cubicle was hot and claustrophobic, awful, so I had to leave un-showered. I have since discovered the communal shower which is fine.
Fantastic experience: Aquacise is very good, if always a little over subscribed, probably because it's so good, having 3 different instructors during the days gives us a variety of different styles too!
Positive experience: Good range of sports available. Good price packages
Fantastic experience: Great swimming facility & kept clean (update: usually clean…). You can book online.
Thank you for the feedback
Fantastic experience: I passed this place when walking around the park, it is still the same. Many people are using the swimming baths.
Negative experience: There is both a family pool which is rather small and a bigger pool, however it is used mostly for older swimmers. Those family’s with older children would not enjoy the family pool due to how shallow it is. I paid to go in the bigger pool in the medium lane with my boyfriend as we were just getting back into swimming. while we were swimming, the lifeguard shouted at my boyfriend and told him to get into the shallow end because he wasn’t a ‘strong enough swimmer’ although he was swimming at the same pace as everyone else. we then went into the shallow end which came up to below our hips and was not enjoyable. the lifeguard was then talking about us to the other lifeguard that was there, staring at us the entire time, leaving us feeling very uncomfortable. we then left the swimming pool as it was not enjoyable and our money was wasted. will not be going back
Fantastic experience: I got to know that most of the staff members are volunteers and serving selflessly. Sorry for the confusion I appreciate the team and their efforts
Hi Vikas Thank you for your feedback. You are referring to a swimming club session, the club hire our facilities and these sessions are not ran by ourselves. We will however pass your feedback onto someone from the club.
Fantastic experience: First time swimming in years. Loved it. Fantastic facility.
Positive experience: We sat outside the stadium watching sport day
Positive experience: Excellent facility. Streets ahead of my local back home in Devon with modern and accessible facilities in the gym at a very reasonable cost.
Thank you for your feedback, glad you enjoyed the facilities
Negative experience: Went to the pingles cafe for some lunch ordered 2 panins which cost £6.20 each ment to come with a salad garnish but when it came out there was no salad garnish nothing I asked the women where my garnish was and she said she hadn't got any, so I also asked if we was charged £6.20 for both the panins and she said yes she then told me because we had an everyone active card that we had already had a discount. Won't be eating there again
Hi, so sorry for your poor experience. The panins should come with a side salad so we shall look into the reasons for why this was missing during your visit.
Negative experience: Place is nice but rules are weird - why you cannot use snorkelling gear while you adult and use 1 lane on “ deep “ … its weird
Negative experience: Dirty, old equipment, expensive, swimming pool is never available, really dense air. Overall experience is terrible
Fantastic experience: My daughter has been swimming here for 4 years and over half term completed lifeguard bronze level 1 and 2. She was so happy and enjoyed every minute in the pool with Steph who was teaching her. She is looking forward to bronze level 3. Can't recommend this place enough for teaching kids how to swim, such a valuable life skill for a small cost.
Thank you for the lovly feedback, glad your daughter is progressing well and enjoying her swimming
Fantastic experience: So grateful to join yoga classes today. It's an amazing experience each time.
Thank you for the feedback
Fantastic experience: Been training at the gym for many years with my son staff very friendly and helpful, gym regulars friendly too we wouldn’t train anywhere else great place
Thank you for the feedback
Positive experience: Great swimming programme and very popular. Only issue is trying to get a space when your child needs to move up. I've been waiting four months for a place!
Thank you for the feedback David, please email [email protected] if you are still waiting for that swim lesson space.
Positive experience: It’s a ok place for families as it has swimming and gym both facilities Avalible at same time. Has a large car park so you don’t need to worry about parking issues. It’s next to the park and is accessible from both sides front and back where back is the park side and front is avenue Road. The gym is not a decent size but a small area which is ok but not the best compare to pure gym which seems massive in comparison with that of Pingles. Plus it’s not 24/7 so you should keep timing in mind when planing for visit.
Thank you for your review
Negative experience: Из занятий мне понравилась аква-аэробика, все остальное- не советую. Виртуальные занятия- самое худшее, что может быть.
Positive experience: As swimming baths go it's ok
Thank you for the feedback
Negative experience: Don't bother phoning them. They don't answer the phone
Fantastic experience: Love the aqua classes, Maria is a great instructor, makes class fun
Negative experience: Went swimming with my son and I could t wait to get out the water. It’s filthy in and out the water
Negative experience: Worst website ever, can’t even find swimming times!!
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff I asked for some help on diving in and I was given excellent advice from Alex and Jack
Tank you for your feedback
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff... Especially Jack who went out of his way to find my little boys lost goggles
Negative experience: Everyone active booking system can be frustrating. Any pools around in the UK not owned by them at this point?
Fantastic experience: The receptionist with brown hair is so polite and friendly. Always there too help you. 5 star team
Thank you for your feedback Danny, much appreciated!!
Fantastic experience: I love swimming here good facilities and friendly staff and the inflatable & outdoor pool is good aswell!
Thank you for your lovely feedback
Negative experience: The days have gone when you can just turn up for a swim with your kids,Saturday,Sunday,Monday with only a few hours window that I can take my kids to swim through out the week absolutely disgusting!!and you have to book your slot times very poor, profit driven!!
Fantastic experience: I taken my son to swimming lessons this morning and he slipped over. Can I say thankyou to the staff which we're immediately there asking if we needed an ice pack or any help.
Thank you for the feedback
Fantastic experience: Very clean. Locker sizes are good. Staff were attentive. Enough space in the family cubicle for 5 people
Thank you for your feedback Hayley, much appreciated!!
Negative experience: Not the best, not the worst honestly. Positives: Decent gym, decent sized pool, membership isn't too expensive and the car park is sufficient. Lots of tread mills and cycles available. Their booking app is good and easy to use. Negatives: Cleanliness in locker rooms needs to be taken care of. People leave the benches and floor wet and no one to mop it. The pool is almost always overcrowded. The booking system is weird, there's not enough time slots for lane swimming and public swimming and all good time slots are for 'swimming lessons'. The overcrowding of the pool can be managed better by making more slots for lane swimming available instead of focusing completely on swimming lessons. Most of the gym equipment is rusted and old. The gym is a bit congested as well.
Thank you for taking the time to feed back to us. We shall review and action the points that we can improve on.
Fantastic experience: Very cheap gym especially since I haven’t paid for it in about 6 years. If you walk up the stairs with confidence either the side gate is left open or you can easily squeeze past the barrier. Alternatively just borrow another members card saying that you went to the toilet and forgot to take your card with you. Has worked for 6 years staff just think I’m a regular.
Negative experience: The pool area isn't the cleanest by early evening, and usually smells pretty bad. The swimming lessons are oversubscribed and my son just stagnated week after week without any useful feedback from the teachers. Since moving elsewhere he's come on leaps and bounds. On the plus side it's cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for.
Positive experience:
Negative experience: Dirty place, yakkk.
HiI am sorry to hear you found the facilities dirty on your visit please could you feedback via our website or app with more details so that we can address your concerns
Fantastic experience: Very nice place and clean! I definitely recommend this
Positive experience: All I did was check if all the facilities were open and how much it would cost
Negative experience: If you are looking for the worst leisure centre experience in the UK - look no further, you found it!
HiI am sorry to hear were not happy after your visit. Please feed back with more details via our website or app so that we can address your concerns.
Positive experience: Super helpfull staff. Definitely going to be a regular for swimming.
Negative experience: Stinks of urine wherever you go, would not trust that water, I think ive got aids from that water, hot tub is class though.
Positive experience: Great for swimming pool. Children's splash pool could do with amending so children dont need to climb out of pool and walk round the edge to get on the small slide. Some little bits not working but overall really enjoy it and try to make it a regular thing
Negative experience: Disappointed that can not book on front desk for swimming sessions.Good luck booking online as slots go fast and you struggle using a computer. Only interested in selling expensive monthly gym and swim memberships.
Hi Gemma, I am sorry you found it difficult to book online. The easiest way to book is via the Everyone Active app which is free to download and we are more than happy to help people use the app via their phones when in centre if needed. Our top rate membership is £27.99 per month and this is for unlimed gym, swimming and classes. We also offer some discounted rates to those that qualify for them.Kind RegardsEA Pingles
Positive experience: I enjoyed my visit to pingles stadium a average game I thought darlaston deserve to win not bad for £3 and ice cold can of Carling for £2 which was excellent, I'm ground hopper so I will tell any fans who like me (wants to do new grounds) to give your ground a visit, I travelled from Crewe and was good cheap day out, beer was very cheap in nuneaton, good luck for rest of season, kind regards ade.
Negative experience: I pay for lessons for my 2 year old and the pools always freezing to the point his lips go blue. It just doesn't make it enjoyable for him.changing rooms and lockers in need of repair
Negative experience: Still operating a booking only system so my two girls were dissapointed when we got there and they were fully booked. There website be more clear that it is booking only. For a place that is still concerned about social distancing the staff didn't seem to concerned with four of them behind the small reception area.
Negative experience: Nice pools. Conveniently located. Poor customer service. Saw a woman taking photos of the pool from the gym area - potential safeguarding issue. Not sure staff recognised the seriousness of the situation.
Negative experience: People on the reception desk seem good and helpful. I have not used the swimming pool facilities, so I can't say anything about it But I did use the gym facilities, the gym facilities are ok to good. As for personal trainers April Fairbrother 0/5 This is because she is unprofessional and not a good communicator, reasons for this I was told to phone her up for a consultation because I wanted personal training. She would not anwser her calls and only resorted to text messages, when I was enquiring over text messages she would not state that she was busy or she was in the gym. She would just keeps me hanging for me to wait for her reply. So I got put off from communicating with her and used another personnel trainer. I only found out from another personal trainer that the 'reason' she did not communicate was she had a bad experience with another person. If this is the case than she could of atleast made it clear to me why she is uncomfortable in communicating. Kyle Gore 4.5 out of 5 This personal trainer had no communication problems, he taught me new exercise techniques and was very helpful. He was a very good motivator and told me not to over do myself when I was adding heavier weights in my workouts.
Positive experience: My daughter goes here for swimming lessons, it's Ok but the facilities are looking a bit worse for wear, all the lights are broken outside on the way to the entrance, the changing rooms smell, there's rust showing on the metalwork in the community pool area and it's long overdue for a refurb/refit
Negative experience: Absolutely horrible experience. Was trying book online first for my two children on the website which didnt work. End up going in in person they made me pay for 2 months upfront for two of my children. I requested to cancel for one of my son straight away on the same day. Which is with in 14days cooling of period as per their policy. I was ensured on time of cancellation that the refund will be processed with in 14 days. I am still awaiting to receive my refund. I tried to speak to staff over the phone, in person submitted enquiry on the website but no movement on my refund. staff is so rude sitting at reception, mostly they hesitate to look at your enquiry. I called few times explained my situation over and over again they put the phone down on me. I felt like they don't want refund my money. They are quick in taking payment off you in advance for 2 months but they don't want to refund your money if your are cancelling lessons even with in the cooling off period. Becareful when book lessons or joining EveryoneActive. That is the reason why their website is not working. Because they want to pay you 2 months upfront. Another thing i was told i have paid for 2 months upfront for sep and oct lessons on 5th of sep I can see another payment request I received through DD payment already. When i was told1st Direct Debits will be taken in Nov. I am not happy with this service and still fighting to get my refund. Very very poor service and fraud experience. Very careful to join everyone acive at Nuneaton.
Negative experience: After the trauma of the website not working so you call, can’t book over phone have to down load app, can’t just download app and book you have to register, register and then book- took an hour! What happened to just turning up and paying and if it’s full then tough! Receptionist ignored us- on the phone and rather than look up and smile just stared at us. Walked strait in (gate was open and no one questioned us). I had booked and paid but now wish I hadn’t bothered if these are the security measures! Lockers filthy inside and out. Stepping over (what looked like) stagnant puddles of water on the floor. We cleared the baby changing of old nappies. Baby pool; green ring all around the edge. Did not go in there! Went into main (small/ family) pool and this looked better. Will 100% not be revisiting.
HiI am sorry to hear you didnt have a good experience on your visit. Swimming has been pre-bookable for almost two years now, introduced during covid and kept in place since because a lot of our sessions get busy and fully booked. The booking system ensures that we dont have people turn up to swim, only to be disappointed that they cannot get in. I am sorry that the receptionist did not acknowlege you, this is not the level of service we expect colleagues to deliver and will be addressed as as well as the level of cleanliness you refer to. I hope that you do visit us again and should you encounter any issues with the facilities please raise these with a member of staff at the time so we can action imediately.
Negative experience: Avoid this gym. Poor customer service and confused staff. After 6 months of joining, my direct debit details were errorneously cancelled (something which is usually a quick fix). I spoke to the reception staff and followed the advice to rectify the issue. A whole month later my membership was suspended and I was told to pay additional funds. I was offered unclear explanations from staff as to why. I spoke to David (sales manager) and unfortunately he was unwilling to resolve the issue amicably. There was still uncertainty around the reason why - but he continued to demand an additional payment. Appalling customer service. In the end, I decided to cancel my membership. I would rather give my money to another gym :)
Negative experience: Blonde, tanned girl on the desk had so much attitude as if she was still in school. We were new to swimming, our second visit there and we weren't aware of pre booking, we weren't told when we first joined up, some places can just do walk ins and there's no bother. She had attitude about having to book and she constantly smirked and gave the impression she was judging us, not something you want when you just want to go swimming, if I was her manager I'd have a word.
Hi RachaelReally sorry to hear of your experience. We will most definately speak to the colleague concerned and highlight our expectations with regard to customer service. It would be helpful if you could reply to me with a date of your visit so I can identify exactly who it was. With regards to booking swim sessions this should be done in advance online or via the Everyone Acvtive App, the app is easiest.I hope you visit again and your next visit is a more pleasant experience.
Negative experience: Compare this shambles of a public swimming baths to the spacious one - albeit it old - they knocked down to build this or to the much cleaner and better one at Hinckley and you see the inept and poor job the local NBBC have done on local facilities. On busy days the car park is too small. The changing rooms are dirty and unclean as are the toilets. There are not enough family-sized changing rooms as even today on a weekday when it wasn't busy my wife and I and 2 small children had to use 2 seperate changing rooms as all family ones taken. The water temperature is too cold in the main childrens pool and if you venture outside it is cold enough to have children shaking as so we had to return inside. The main pool is much smaller and feels dark compared to the Olympic-sized one it replaced which was light and airy as it use to have all glass along one side. The toddlers play area where most of the snakes are haven't worked properly for years - I.e. a total lack of maintenance and upkeep. Lastly in the Childrens pool outside area it was full of leaves - do the staff not check in between sessions and actually clean the pools? They have basically compromised the swimming families in order to build a gym upstairs and give more space to the nearby running track. Knock it down and build something fit for purpose, after public consultation, is the way to go.
