Negative experience: Bad

Negative experience: Toilets £1 its insane i think enough money coming in if they spend it wisely , they are encouraging people going in the bushes . Is this what Great Britain stands for . Not a very gd advertisement for any tourist to see
Fantastic experience: The staff are very helpfull & "on the ball". The Sports Hall is always a clean area. It's good to see so may sports being catered for.
Fantastic experience: Joined gym to strengthen my knee. Gym is very well equipped staff are lovely, and very helpful. Lots of activities for all ages.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and great service
Positive experience: When hosting stalls at Whitby Goth weekend, I visited the stalls, the leisure centre had a sign saying they were charging £1 per person for the use of the toilets. I could understand them charging (to avoid non paying customers coming in only to use the toilets) but £1 is double the price of the other public toilets! I'd have thought 50p would be plenty (same as public toilets in the area at the time of my visit) As someone buying from the stands within the centre I thought it was a bit cheeky to ask as much for customers to use the toilets- going rate would have been acceptable to me. That over shadowed my visit to the trade stalls lol.
Negative experience: £1 to use the toilet . Wow . No loo roll in there and so dirty . What a joke our councils are now . Tax you on everything nowadays.,
Negative experience: The showers only go on for 5 seconds at a time ,so having a shower is very frustrating. There's never soap in the dispensers in there either. The haird dryers in the women's changing rooms take coins which is ridiculous, you have to go dry your hair with the hair dryer in the rest room. Lastly it's pretty dirty in the gym and changing rooms. The only saving grace is the staff are very nice
Fantastic experience: Was OK I was only in the market at the Goth weekend
Fantastic experience: Here for goth weekend very busy but managed to get round stalls
Fantastic experience: Great centre ..staff ultra helpful
Negative experience: Badly laid out gym with a limited selection of basic equipment. Machines constantly breaking due to age lack of maintenance. Must be the worst everyone active facility. Only reason to visit is because there’s nowhere else. Some hotels have better equipped gyms than this place.
Negative experience: Absolutely diabolical
Fantastic experience: Local leasure centre for local people. We'll have no trouble here.
Fantastic experience: Interesting place
Negative experience: Tried to contact by phone waiting 20 mins gave up ended up going to the leisure centre to speak to someone
Positive experience: Decent Gym and Pools.
Positive experience: Whitby leisure centre is a nice modern place. There is a swimming pool, gym and a sports hall. apart from the sporting facilities, with nice changing rooms, they also host various events, including the Whitby Goth festival bazaar. There is a wide selection of traders selling goth clothing, boots, and jewellery. There is also food available. There is a large car park next to the leisure centre.
Negative experience: Needing a serious upgrade. Poor facilities and bad opening times.
Positive experience: Good the gym is spot on and swimming no problems at all but could do with a sauna and steam room as you pay monthly and you pay for that but Whitby does not have one so you miss out would Even pay a little extra for there to be one and I think a lot of people would aswell and it would benefit a lot and many people would use it
Fantastic experience: Fantastic venue for the Goth weekend.
Fantastic experience: Market was out of this world.
Positive experience: Nice centre shame there's no sauna
Fantastic experience: Clean and tidy, a good place for speeding time and having fun with your kids splashing and swimming. Affordable prices
Fantastic experience: Great place very wheelchair friendly young lady was very kind when asking for access card for disabled toilet.
Negative experience: I reviewed this centre 4 years ago with 3 stars and particularly commented on how grubby the wet change areas were. Had a swim here for first time in 4 years this week and will never be back. Changing area was filthy. The pool was ok, not great but I have ended up with an eye infection which I am certain I picked up in the pool. Do not understand the good reviews because it's been consistently poor here for years. I would advise anyone to steer clear until the place gets a refurb.
Fantastic experience: Been swimming here a couple of times while we have been staying here. Pool not massive and deep end not the deepest but does the job and hasn't been too busy when we have been too! Enjoyed it
Positive experience: For the kids swimming lessons the experience for them has been ok. Unfortunately the experience for us as parents has been not so good. (Complaints have been out in regarding our experience but wouldn't say they been dealt with very well, here is not the place to divulge our personal experience in detail) Generally the cleanliness of the centre is good. Plenty of available activity areas and schedules. Parking is a plenty, and during pay time you can put in car details for free parking. Most of the staff area wonderful, and life guards appear professional. There are however moments where particular staff have been very rude and treat customers differently.
Fantastic experience: Only ever go here for the Goth weekends, so can't really comment on the facilities apart from the toilets which require cleaning more often. Great location for the traders though. Car park attached which you have to pay or free road side parking
Negative experience: Both pools were freezing ...
Fantastic experience: Wonderful facility
Fantastic experience: Very good. Not crowded and pleasant water temperature. Clean environment with good changing rooms.
Positive experience: Extremely dated pool facilities and seating area
Fantastic experience: Been swimming here a couple of times while we have been staying here. Pool not massive and deep end not the deepest but does the job and hasn't been too busy when we have been too!
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication
Fantastic experience: Great place to loose a pint of blood
Fantastic experience: Its not a bad gym
Positive experience: Good parking
Negative experience: Issue 1: parking, trying to get a park at this place especially during the day in tourist season? Don't bother. If its not that it's a carnie show in the carpark. Issue 2: little to no functional equipment and no space for functional exercise Issue 3: not set up for swimmers, bs split because of 'COVID' so you can have up to 8 people in 1 lane at any time. you can only access the pool during sanctioned times because unlike every other gym that just puts up a 'no life guard, adults only' sign, nope you have to swim when they have a life guard stood next to the pool. And the biggest cardinal sin, the water is to warm for lap swimming. Honestly if it was not for the fact there are other options in the franchise I would cancel my membership based on my experience here.
Positive experience: Great place for Badminton but over fifty per cent of the lighting is still off having asked for a number of years for the lighting to be repaired or updated. The leisure Centre promises to do some thing to correct the lighting but nothing ever happens.
Positive experience: Good facilities, friendly staff. Clean changing rooms. Very good afternoon's activities.
Fantastic experience: Great place to go with the family. Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient for parking.
Fantastic experience: Visiting whitby, had time to kill before room became available. From phone call to post swim, staff were curtious and polite. Nice people.
Fantastic experience: Nice swim not many in at 2pm session. Clean and staff good.
Fantastic experience: For such a small older building the facility’s in the leisure centre are really good. Managed to get a membership early last year in a hope to shed some weight and chiefly get fit and many thanks to all the staff in the gym area who have helped me achieve my goals. Its now moved on from wanting to get fit to being a hobby and feel like I’m missing something if I’m not attending the gym. If your looking for help and motivation get yourself down to the gym today and speak to some of the staff as they are really helpful friendly and polite! Could not recommend enough. I’d rate you 10/5 if I could.
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed the bizarre bazaar. However the lack of free disabled places is a concern
Fantastic experience: We were just visiting Whitby, but when the weather was too wet this turned out to be a great way for the kids to burn off that energy. Friendly staff and clean surroundings. A definite recommendation.
Positive experience: Leisure centre was being used for a venue during the whitby goth weekend. Seemed like a good place, layout was a little confusing but was well signposted. Can't really comment on what was available here as a leisure centre since I was here for the gothic stalls!
Positive experience: Parking near by town walking distance. Ticket machine wasn't taking coins more than 2 pounds but can pay by phone.
Negative experience: North Sea is warmer... Not relaxing as its constantly cold changing rooms freezing won't be returning rather go further and use a decent pool
Negative experience: If i could give lower i would, went to the leisure centre with my grandparents, my uncle and my auntie and their son, that is 8 months old, my uncle was told he could go in the adult swim, but as me and my grandparents went to pay for a swim, they said it was only over 50s swim, i’m 17 going on 18 and they discriminating my age, this shouldn’t be allowed, and we came to the leisure centre a few years ago around 10:30/11:00am and it was completely ok, there was no restrictions at all, Disrespectful!
Positive experience: I only go here to attend the gym while I work here. Good selection of gym and cardio equipment for a reasonable monthly membership considering it’s Whitby. Don’t really use the pool ♂️ or the sports hall. But all in all it does the job and despite what others may say I find the staff friendly and helpful (and I’ve been there on & off for nearly a year). Also, if you need to park to use the car park they will refund the fee if you tear off the slip from your parking ticket.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic
Positive experience: The leisure centre is a good place to help with your fitness you can select a certain class or use the gym there if you are not interested you can use there swimming pool for a casual swim or for pool parties and other hiring purposes
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool. Good gym. Many fitness groups you can take part in
Positive experience: Good facilities, if pay for parking and spend £7 you'll get £3 back if you use the leisure centre.
Positive experience: Came here to use the shower facilities when I was wild camping. The price was ok at £2.50 (ish) but the showers in the dry side changing rooms were only just luke warm. Shame because the changing rooms were really nice and clean, and it's a really nice looking place all around. The lady at the reception was really friendly and happily gave me information on how to access the gym by signing up for a card online. I'll still return to use the shower but will probably try the wet side ones next time.
Fantastic experience: I do two 30mins sections everyday
Fantastic experience: Great venue for all your exercise and swimming needs
Fantastic experience: Free parking through winter 2017/18
Fantastic experience: Nice swimming pool with lots of extra activities in the holidays. Regularly fun swims too.
Positive experience: Great parking
Positive experience: Enjoyed the family fun session.
Positive experience: Visited as a blood donor
Positive experience: Friendly staff. Brought me a chair outside whilst I waited for my children
Positive experience: Good venue for gothfest stalls
Positive experience: I have been a member for a number of years. Very friendly staff and good quality equipment
Negative experience: I swim here on a morning. The pool is warm and the shower are sometimes cold. It should be cleaned as it is not very cleen
Positive experience: Went for a family swim. Nice, clean & reasonably priced. Great for a rainy day activity.
Positive experience: Nice little local pool not over priced and clean only negative is the customer service from the staff.
Negative experience: Rude, unpresentable staff members refuse to give change for their own car park when the machines won’t take cards. Only ever heard bad things about the centre from locals.
Positive experience: Came here to use the shower facilities when I was wild camping. The price was ok at £2.50 (ish) but the showers in the dry side changing rooms were only just luke warm. Negative experience: I don't use the gym so won't comment but jeez when is the pool getting a revamp? It's always cold to the point that we don't go in winter as my kids freeze to the point of shivering and its not much better in the summer. Who cleans the changing rooms? Anybody? The staff are rude and look bored stiff most of em.
Negative experience: For gym users it is really good as it has had numerous refits/updates. However the swimming part is disgusting, it has been starved of investment for decades and is so run down! The changing rooms are filthy and decrepit, the grout on the floor appears to be from the centre was first opened, half the lockers don't work and you have to check the working ones for cleanliness or lack of before using them. Filthy skylights rain in, plaster is falling from the ceiling and the ventilation is so clogged with dirt that they barely function! Despite numerous complaints by subscribing members nothing has been done to rectify these problems? It was reported that around £150k was spe5on refurbishing the centre, but the addition to the pool side where two full sized solid metal gates preventing swimmers from going onto the pool side? ☹
Fantastic experience: Go here on goth weekend, lots of stalls, lots of costumes lots to see.
Fantastic experience: V convenient. .. accessible
Positive experience: Friendly staff and good facilities. The gym could do with extending now as it gets really busy and the swimming pool needs updating as it's of of those with the high sides.
Positive experience: Use the carpark never full
Positive experience: The gym could do with being a bit bigger because it gets quite busy.
Positive experience: Attended many fantastic Goth events here
Positive experience: Swam and used the Main hall for Badminton all ok. Cannot comment on Gym or the equipment.
Positive experience: Great place to get showered and changed after Coast to Coast ride.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful city.
Positive experience: Small pool can get crowded
Positive experience: A nice little leisure centre, has everything you would need but could do with being a bit bigger to cater for busy periods.
Positive experience: Good weekend 1 nov 2014
Negative experience: Good facilities, although the pool is small. However receptionist was little help, and came across very rude when trying to deal with a problem. Would not return, for a seaside town with many tourists, they are poor at dealing with them.
